I was really intrigued by the premise of this season, 3 cars $30k budget. A realistic achievable budget for many. The cheat cars spoiled it a bit for me. I still enjoyed it, but would have enjoyed it much more with less 'cheating'
Ditto. I am less thrilled with the 'cheating.' Especially since they are supposed to be advertising a car finding service. If they are unable to do that then maybe the service is not that good.
Yeah it was worse that they where not even in the ballpark. 30k challenge with 60k in cars. This was too easy to do it right.
I agree. I get the bickering entertainment value but I wish the 'cheating' would have been 35k and not 60+k. Then they can still fight about it but ultimately still compete on a level playing field
One Stinkeye WRX could have done the job of all NINE of their cars and with mostly better results for less than $17k... Just think of all the mods that can be done with the leftover $13k. 🤔😎
I’m personally sick and tired of the cheating. It was fun at first, but like every single season they just take it too far. It really takes away from the whole experience. Like I understand going over a few hundred bucks or something. But come on. Thousands? It just ruins the whole premise of the show all together
I agree, the Cayanne really surprised me on how fantastic it looked in Car Trek!

I want to see NO cheating on the next Car Trek. And no cars from the existing fleet. I really liked the premiss of this series and would like to see a little more budget/time to properly sort the cars out a bit. Tires, tune up, ready for the challenges a head, etc….But within budget.
This cartrek def made me want an off-road Cayenne bad. Had a lowered Macan Turbo and miss it bad.
Look, air suspensions are good for many things, offroading MEH, they can pop or slash on rocks or worst, blow out if they are overstretched during a severe articulation, ask me how i know all of that. Air for the ride, steel for the climb.
Nice build. Been wanting to do the same to my 2004 S, but I of course have all the Cayenne problems: Coolant leak, control arms shot, transfer case slipping, front diff making noises, etc. Was quoted 15K to fix those four areas at an indy shop. Was about to pull the trigger and they called me to tell me it was impossible to get new transfer cases, differentials, etc. from Porsche. Can't even find a decent rebuilt one. So please share with us where in the hell your shop found a new transfer case for less than 4k. I can't bring myself to sell my 04 S, dealers will give me only 400 bucks for it. Can't buy a new car/used car for another 3 years because of the insane gouging going on, so I need to find a way to fix it. All my searches lead me to EBay, with bait and switch tactics used to draw you in to buying questionable parts.
The Wrangler could drive anywhere, but the Cayenne was the best for the elements.
I'm sure that Tyler was miserably frozen, and Freddy.....it's a miracle he made it that far on those tires.

Cayennes and touregs have a "rest" button. It runs a small electric coolant pump and the heater fan to keep the vehicle warm after it's shut off. Great feature all cars should have.
The heat in that Jeep must have been performing outstandingly
As someone who has driven an old Jeep Wrangler soft top thru 10 of the worst snow and winters Michigan has to offer I can say the only reason Tyler was cold is because he is too stupid to put the top on and turn the heat on high.
The heater in Jeeps is no joke.
I really do dig the look of the off-road Porsche. The fact that you picked it up for so cheap is just icing on the cake.
I’ve never seen any that cheap. But a lot of the 1st gen cayennes are goin for under 20k

Was so happy to see this off-road 957 on the CarTrek episode, it came out awesome and can't wait to see how your 958 build comes out! I love my 957, it's been a blast taking it off-road and just general road trips. Great combination of luxury and capability while they're at an pretty affordable cost... for now... 😂

I was sad after watching the last two episodes and knowing this had already been sold and moved on. Such a killer looking cayenne. Definitely didn't think I'd look that good. Glad to hear another one is in the works

when I moved to the states my boss sold me a 2003 touareg. I don't remember the exact price, but I paid like 4000 bucks and that was way under the KBB price. I think my boss just wanted to give me a hand and know that his SUV would be in good hands. I gotta say I was afraid because I knew they were expensive to fix, but it was a beast. I still remember the smell, it had that leather smell that old audi car have and it felt nice. Never took it off road really except to snow which it performed great. Ended up trading in for a ford escape which was also a great car, but I never felt so important as when I drove the touareg.
I have a 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro but honestly all I use it for it trail driving and family camping. Seeing this has me looking at trading it for a 2016 or so Cayenne diesel. Way more range, better economy, more torque, and WAY more comfort. People will tell me I'm crazy, but I'm still thinking about it.
Dude, that Porsche was awesome. I want to build one now. Also, enough with he cheating on the show. I dig it, but bringing a 70k Supra was just dumb.
I thought Ed handled it the best this season and that Porsche was off the charts cool, well done!

So your “$2000” car your sold for $30k+. The show is just a joke anymore. Doubt I’ll be watching the next installment unless the budget is adhered to and some of the cheesiness is taken away.
Yeah that Cayenne budget blew me away. It DOES NOT look like a $5000 Porsche... Most notably because of the amazing paint job and aftermarket add-ons. Great job. They're probably all sold out now or going for 30% more
I feel like the 3 contestants using their own cars, or in this case, using connections that nobody else has, really kinda ruins the whole premise of the show. Yes, it was fun. Yes, all the contestants are fun to listen to and it was in general a good time, but I really wanted to see 3 cars from each person, that ANYBODY could buy for under $30,000, not an $80,000 personal car, a $1 gimmick car, an electric car that is WAY out of the budget, or in the case of this car, a friend bought it, another friend painted it, and made sure all the parts were in this budget, etc. etc. We need to be able to see ourselves in these shows. We need to be able to see ourselves do these challenges too, or you are just 3 guys doing silly tricks with cars nobody else can afford.
What can y’all do better? More CarTrek

32k for a 2008 Cayenne S with 170k miles? Even with all the modifications, that feels like A LOT
Stinkeye WRX is the answer to the whole Car Trek 6!!! It's a sports car sedan that would have destroyed the others on the drag strip and track with 3 pedals, and could have gone nearly as far up the mountain as the Jeep with proper mods. Considering one can be bought for around $12-17k... 😁😎

Car trek never disappoints. Loved this Porsche. And I don't like porsches. But this one was epic.

This seasons CarTrek premise was great, but the cheating behind the Tesla and the Supra was unacceptable. When Hoovie knew he was going over, he should have sold the Tesla and bought another car that met the budget. And the Supra cheat was terrible, I lost a lot of respect for Tavarish. Those cars ruined both challenges. I was very happy Ed’s cars “won” while still sticking to the challenge.
Next season, I’d like to see everyone stick to the rules.

That's a small premium to pay for not having to mess with all those parts and the conversion and paint job. Great deal still at $32, even if it's a bit of a stinker. I'd have a detailer go nuts with that and then blow fresh dry mountain air throught it for a month if I needed to.
That Cheyenne you had on car trek was the best looking one I have ever seen. I have always been a fan of Porsche Cheyennes and always knew they were reasonably capable in bad weather but I never considered what they would be like if built as a dedicated all terrain vehicle like you built. Now I am going to have to built one for myself.

I went on a Toys 4 Tots Rally with this Porsche recently with David Lockhart behind the wheel and it had no problem keeping up with a buncha supercars and look right at place doing so. I also have some wicked content of it from the rally.

Fun fact, Porsche made Cayennes for the Dakkar rally back when the Cayenne was brand new to their lineup. They were Orange as well iirc. Hence why i made an orange one in Horizon 3.
I always love each Car Trek episode and season 6 was no exception. I hope you guys went into the snow generally prepared behind the scenes for that kind of thing. If not at least no one was seriously injured and you take it as a lesson in how quick things can turn for the worse and prepare better in future adventures.
I really enjoyed the off-road episode.

What a time frame? It's cool seeing where I used to get enjoy working, but im genuinely surprised it took such a short time. I've seen him do it in less than 24hrs though. Very happy seeing this; I really miss that job.
Knowing you’re choosing the next CarTrek sir how about shocking the world with a challenge that’s 100% not a typical Ed challenge ..Im thinking a secret location, mods challenge. You choose an dollar amount and 2/3 of what you spend has to made up of modifications to “improve” the vehicle but you don’t know the intended use..

Here's an idea for next season's CarTrek:
You guys team up and enter the Gumball 3000. Set up some rules for how the car(s) will be purchased through AutoTempest and enter the Gumball 3000 rally and let these guys work together to see how far they can make it.
The Gumball 3000 for 2022 Rally is from Toronto to Havana 27 May - 3 June.
$10k purchase and build for that beast? It's all about who you know. A mug like me who doesn't know these ppl would pay at least 3x that, and wait 3 months. Still, Ed did well, and I seriously enjoyed watching Car Trek 6 over Christmas break in nice warm SE Australia.
This Cartrek was fun but it would have been a lot MORE fun if you had all actually bought $10,000 cars instead of just pulling cars from your own garages. Especially the Supra. There’s no way anyone could ever buy that car for anywhere close to $10,000. Kind of defeats the purpose of the challenge. Also a bit strange to talk about how great Autotempest is for finding good deals on cars… and then not use autotempest to get the cars.
What you could do better: Get rid of Freddy "Tavarish"... He is obnoxious, not very knowledgable, and makes the whole series unwatchable.
I do understand that you you may want someone as a presenter rather than a knowledgable restorer of cars... but there are SO many charismatic and likeable UA-camrs who tick both the boxes, but to cast someone who is both unlikeable and clueless.
One may say that Tyler Hoover is an "acquired taste", however, he still has a taste to acquire! Freddy manages to be, not only, unlikeable and somewhat of an eye sore, but also being absolutely clueless!
Tavarish bringing a 70000 half ass built supra ruined the sports car segments and hoovie’s Tesla was a complete disaster which was also ridiculously cheating. The off-roader segment was the best part. But Ed. You Definitely cheated to. No way you can build that Porsche for under ten grand. . So all is fair in the end. Still love all you guys and car trek
Why are idiots throwing money at a person that has money already? You can a Porsche suv cheap af like he mentioned and put one together for a fraction of 30k. That's all bolt on stuff besides the paint. In the words of our terrible president....CMON MAN! grow up people stop over paying for cars or at least buy them from me
Please do a genuine CHEAP CAR challenge. Like 2000 dollar budget maybe even less per car. Without cheating. That’s what I would like to see
by far the best thing you can do to enhance the car trek experience is ditch Tavarish ,yourself and Tyler make the show ,Tavarish on the other hand is just awful ,tries far too hard and honestly he is just a massive weak link .i could suggest some suitable replacements ,that lil fella who rents out exotic cars or Derek from Vice Grip Garage maybe even just Weeeeezard or Urination Bob just anyone except Tavarish or that Armenian Lamborghini know it all who doesnt know when to shut up

I need a vehicle that drives well on soft sand and I've seriously considered a Cayenne but ultimately decided against it. You have me rethinking it now. This reminds me of Clarkson's Bentley in the Madagascar episode.

I think this season of car trek was great. The one thing I didn’t like, and as many people have said is the cheating on the budget. I mean Tyler pretty much ignored the budget and went way over and Freddy didn’t do much better. I feel that for a show being promoted by a car finding service you guys should try and at least stay close to budget 🤷🏽♂️ other than that I think it was great.
