Theses are my favorite homeschool review videos! I love all the book reviews!! You guys have a few of our favorite in your stack that you read last year! And I can't wait to read the new to us one!! Thanks
Yes! All the books! ❤️ some great books! We love and have almost all you shared. Definitely agree about One Blood for kids! My kids enjoyed your kids star rating so much. Lol. Thanks for sharing!! Happy summer!
Love your list of books!! One that you’ve mentioned in the past that my daughter LOVED is Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. Love your suggestions and the work you put into these videos-truly helpful to me and other homeschooling mamas!! 💛
My boys also love the Chronicles of Narnia. It's also really fun to listen to, if you get the the Focus on the Family radio theater CD's. Also, your video is just in time, we're headed to the library right now! Love the book reviews! If you did them periodically through the year with books your kids are reading in their free time, I'd appreciate those as well! I'm sure you have plenty of material, otherwise, though, not to add more to your plate! ;)
Great book list 📚 Thank you so much for sharing! I find all of your videos inspiring and so helpful on my homeschool journey! Thank you for the time and energy you spend on them 💓
Thank you for the disclaimer on One Crazy Summer...its been on my list, but now taking it off and replacing it with One Blood for Kids. Great review!!!
I purchased the Answers book set for 2021-2022 school year and we can’t wait to dive in. I will definitely be purchasing One Blood for Kids. Thank you for the recommendations. I love your content. Hope you all are enjoying your summer. ☀️
love these kinds of videos! we will be reading the Answers books for kids next year for Bible. thank you for that disclaimer for that summer book about the 3 sisters--my daughter is getting ready to read that on her own. I just bought One blood for kids used and I can't wait to get it.
I am so glad to hear all of these great reviews! I had already purchased the Light Keeper Series (Ten Girls & Ten Boys), The Answers for Kids series, and the Chronicles of Narnia Series all for next year!!! 🎉
Love all of your picks! We’ve added so many of your recommendations to our home library. We have both one blood for kids and accidentally ordered the adult version but glad I did since I plan to read myself before reading aloud the kids one. Thank you for sharing.
Love to see what everyone is reading! Always gives me good ideas. We have been working thru the Little House on the Prairie books and Harry Potter. Those are the two big series for this year but lots in between.
I got one blood based off your first video on it. We are loving it so far! My kids are mixed and I taught African American history this year and it was a good book to end with after some hard stuff. Thank you for helping me find it. I agree everyone should read this!
I couldn’t agree more about the One Blood book! There are lots of wonderful resources from Answers in Genesis. I used the curriculum for Pilgrims Progress from them and we learned so much! I really enjoy book reviews and like that the kids rated the books! God bless!!
I love your sons notes on the Chronicle of Narnia series! Definitely need to pick those up for my son. A Long Walk to Water is such a good book! Lots of good reviews in this video, need to add some to my shopping list! Thanks so much for sharing.☺️❤️
Purchased One Blood a month back in your Instagram story recommendation.. going to start it this summer with the kids. Really enjoy these books review videos and the starts ratings from your kids. Going to rewatch with pen and paper. How do you keep a log of the books? I’m sure you e probably shared a video about this somewhere
Where do you find time to read multiple books at a time for read alouds? I think it’s great, and I’m thumbing through year 1 TGTB and trying to figure out read alouds for that, as well as the Not Consumed “For Every Nation” curriculum, which is those missionary books, but I’m not sure how I’d read that much to them on top of their own assigned reading without them getting completely burnt out.
I highly recommend doing the missionary stories via audiobook for read-aloud time! Gives my voice a much needed break. We have enjoyed listening together during lunch (but any time is great). Most, if not all, are available in audio format from the YWAMpublishing site. I’m also really looking forward to getting For Every Nation from Not Consumed to go with them!
@@amandacurtiss8759 right?! I think it’s amazing, and I could totally use the pointers! We have some scheduled for this year already along with our curriculum, plus there are others I want to include, like the Tuttle Twins books. There needs to be more hours in the day.
How do you decide what books to buy vs borrow? I can’t bring myself to borrow any of our read alouds because I want to own them all lol but same goes for the kids reading 🤦♀️ not sure how sustainable that is long term! My Olivia loved Because of Winn Dixie too 😉
I love your book reviews and look forward to them every year. Your kids are all one grade ahead of mine so these reviews are so helpful in planning my next year. Do you do book reports after your kids read a book, have them summarize, or anything along those lines?
I loved your video. I am hoping that you can do a future video on how you pick books for your kids and how you get them to read. Do you use a program for suggestions? Specific reading time during the day? One basket per kid with all of the books you want them to read or do they get to choose? Thank you for such great content on You Tube.
Great ideas for the next school year thank you so much! I started homeschooling my 3rd grade daughter in September here in Ireland and I find your channel SO helpful. Loved your video about what advice you would give to your younger self, regarding homeschooling. I also have a lot of the same convictions about guarding our kids childhood and innocence etc. This is unrelated to the readers, but can I ask if you think TGATB language arts goes over all the grammar/punctuation etc concepts enough for kids to remember everything? I'm looking for a solid and strong LA curriculum at the moment. She has not had a strong foundation in this (but she is an avid reader - Narnia, Anne of Green Gables, The Borrowers etc) and I want to build her knowledge and confidence with writing and grammar etc. Thank you! Leah
Love book videos! 😍 Keep ‘em coming. We own quite a few books mentioned here. They’re either on our TBR or we’ve already read them. Added a few more to our list from your review. OB4K is an amazing book. We started it last year. Had to put it down. But, I’m planning to bring it back and begin again. I agree that it is a book everyone should read. I plan to pass the adult version on to a friend, so she can read it. When I snagged it from MB I also grabbed the adult version. I plan to read it this summer. I love your videos. You remain one of my very favorite homeschool channels here on UA-cam. Thank you. 💜
When will your kids restart school? I’m hoping to end our year on Friday, but school doesn’t start until September in NY and I feel like that break might be too long. There’s no hard start date in NY I believe, but we have to have a a certain number of hours of instruction.
Thanks for sharing! Love your book suggestions. Did you guys end up reading George Washington's secret six? Only asking bc I saw it in another video and happened to pick it up at Ollie's..
I'm sorry, but we barely got through Daughter of the Mountains either. It was way too much descriptive language and very little dialogue and action. A Long Walk to Water is phenomenal! A very interesting read that we began the school year with reading together. I've made a list and will try many of these out. Thanks Ashlee! 👍🏽
The Call of the Wild has some very advanced language. We did it as a read aloud, and I really had to concentrate to read it. Fever 1793 is on my own personal list. :-)
Do you pick the books that the kids read or do they? Do they come from a list or do you just randomly pick? Definitely will be buying the Answers book for next year!
Maybe Olivia gave it two stars bc the book contains potty language and other things. She is a smart cookie These reviews are so helpful for me, my oldest is a year younger than Olivia 👍🏽
I loved Fever 1793! We read that one last year. Lately, we've been on an Avi kick! He wrote The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle which was sooo good. Right now, we are reading Sophia's War, A Tale of the Revolution. It's another page turner! Check out fellow Patriot, Constitution Vet's YT channel. He just started it, and it's an excellent resource for history education, for homeschoolers or just in general. I highly recommend it. So far, he's done a 2nd amendment analysis, a three part series called History is Gray, and an analysis into the Gulag Archipelago and its connection to cancel culture. Thanks for the reviews! There's some more books as always that I have not seen!
This so helpful! Not sure if you still have those Good and the Beautiful books, but they no longer sell them on their website. 😩 It says they may rerelease them in 2025 as a classic series. I was wondering if you’d be interested in selling yours? I’d buy them from you!
I'm assuming: were these books all screened before giving to your kiddos? If so, what does that process look like? Are you reading them, looking at reviews, etc?
I love these but I have to be honest.. how the heck do you read all of these? If the kids have individual readers on top of school reading then you have read alouds, how do you structure this? I feel like we’d be doing school all day 🤷🏻♀️
My daughter is laughing because her and Olivia read pretty much the same books this year. She said "What! Matilda and Because of Winn Dixie gets a 100 stars!"
We had to stop reading an Andrew Clements book (the same author of Frindle) it was called About Average as it really talked a lot about a girl crushing hard on a boy. Too much for my seven and nine year old. We loved Trumpet of the Swan and the Tale of Despereaux!
Yay! So happy to see that this is an annual video of yours! Thank you so much for continuing to share your journey with all of us. ❤❤
I added a ton of these titles to my list! Thank you. I find these book reviews to be so helpful. Happy reading 😊
I read Trumpet of the Swan to my son when he was four and he asked for it again when he was six. He LOVES that book so much.
Theses are my favorite homeschool review videos! I love all the book reviews!! You guys have a few of our favorite in your stack that you read last year! And I can't wait to read the new to us one!! Thanks

I added so many to my Amazon homeschool list! Can't wait to read some of these books with my kiddos.
These are still some of my favorite videos you do! It gets me so excited for the next homeschool year🌷thank you!!
We having been reading the Rush Revere books as our read aloud right now and my kids love them!
Love the book recommendations! Thanks so much
Great book list 📚 Thank you so much for sharing!
I find all of your videos inspiring and so helpful on my homeschool journey! Thank you for the time and energy you spend on them 💓
This video was SO helpful and awesome!!!
Thank you for the disclaimer on One Crazy Summer...its been on my list, but now taking it off and replacing it with One Blood for Kids. Great review!!!
Watson’s go to Birmingham - 1963 might be a good substitution along similar lines
I purchased the Answers book set for 2021-2022 school year and we can’t wait to dive in. I will definitely be purchasing One Blood for Kids. Thank you for the recommendations. I love your content. Hope you all are enjoying your summer. ☀️
I really appreciate these reviews by your children! I have several that I want to have my children read as well as read aloud!
Great video! Will you be doing a video of the books you plan to have them read this coming year?
Got the answers books! Thanks Ashlee 😊
We loved the Trumpet of the Swan! It's such a fun read aloud. Great list! I'm checking out ten girls!
We absolutely love Trumpet of the Swan as well! I found the audio version through audible with EB White reading it! A treasure!
This is such a great list of books. Many we have read and enjoyed as well and even a few to add to our need to read list. Tfs
Love your book recs!

Ashlee, thank you! We just left the Ark/Creation Museum a few hours ago. We bought ALL the books. Love your suggestions!
Love hearing your book reviews/recommendations! Adding several to my list for next year. 🤗👍🏻
I'd love to see how you set up your reading schedule for morning time and how many times you'll read each category of books each week.
This is awesome!! So many book ideas to add to my son’s Kindle - thank you for taking the time to share! God bless.
Love this!! Great list of books. I’m always looking for book recommendations for my kids.
I can’t wait to order the One Blood book! I’m think about getting the morning time bundle too.
I remember reading Fever 1793 when I was a kid/teen! Wrote down a lot of your suggestions to keep in mind for my almost 2nd grader!
Extremely helpful!!! Thanks for this one!
Love to see what everyone is reading! Always gives me good ideas. We have been working thru the Little House on the Prairie books and Harry Potter. Those are the two big series for this year but lots in between.
Thanks for all the great book recommendations! There were a few I was glad to hear a little detail about- now I for sure want the One Blood book!!🥰
Absolutely agree that EVERYONE needs to read One Blood for Kids!
I got one blood based off your first video on it. We are loving it so far! My kids are mixed and I taught African American history this year and it was a good book to end with after some hard stuff. Thank you for helping me find it. I agree everyone should read this!
We LOVE all the chapter books from tgatb. Of course Imagination station too. ❤
I couldn’t agree more about the One Blood book! There are lots of wonderful resources from Answers in Genesis. I used the curriculum for Pilgrims Progress from them and we learned so much! I really enjoy book reviews and like that the kids rated the books! God bless!!
My upcoming 7th grader just finished the Narnia series and he loved them too! My upcoming 5th grader will read them this year.
I love these!!!! Thank you! Besides assigning the books, do they do any additional assignments with the books?
Love this times a million!!! Thank you!! I’m so excited to add some of these to our list for next year.
I love your sons notes on the Chronicle of Narnia series! Definitely need to pick those up for my son.
A Long Walk to Water is such a good book! Lots of good reviews in this video, need to add some to my shopping list! Thanks so much for sharing.☺️❤️
Love this!!! Great inspiration!!
You're making me wish I'd picked up the One Blood book while we were at the Museum. I guess I can order it though!
It’s so good! Def worth owning!
As a Mama of babies of different races, thank you so much for sharing that book and sentiment at the end...it got me choked up ❤️
Purchased One Blood a month back in your Instagram story recommendation.. going to start it this summer with the kids.
Really enjoy these books review videos and the starts ratings from your kids. Going to rewatch with pen and paper.

We are reading Answers for kids and love them
I bought the One Blood for Kids for next year
Love all your recommendations xx
Love your book reviews! And several of the books you mentioned are on sale on Masterbooks right now.
Love book videos, thank you!

Thank you so much for this! This year was our first homeschool year so I’d been struggling to find good books to read. This helped soo much! ❤️
Thanks for the book ideas 😊
So many good ones!! How to choose?!
We also bought The answer book for Kids series. After your recommendation ❣️
Love book videos! 😍 Keep ‘em coming.
We own quite a few books mentioned here. They’re either on our TBR or we’ve already read them.

I already have One Blood to do this year. Very excited for it. By the way were did you get your shirt from? Love it!
Curious are you planning to try TG&TB high school?

One Blood for Kids.. would a 6yo follow along?!
Love your book recommendations and your kiddos favs!
Quick question: Are these all on TGATB book list?
This so helpful! Not sure if you still have those Good and the Beautiful books, but they no longer sell them on their website. 😩 It says they may rerelease them in 2025 as a classic series. I was wondering if you’d be interested in selling yours? I’d buy them from you!

Do you pre-read the Books from the library for inappropriate content? We feel like I should but I don’t have that much time...
If your kiddos are also reading school readers, when do they read these books? Do you require they read aloud to you or on their own?
Some of these were their assigned readers for school, and some were our read alouds or from morning basket!
Did you say your 5th grader was named Gabe? I have a 5th grade Gabriel/Gabe
My daughter is laughing because her and Olivia read pretty much the same books this year. She said "What! Matilda and Because of Winn Dixie gets a 100 stars!"
So good! Thank you Ashlee! We just finished our first year of homeschool and I will definitely be checking out some of these books.
Do you assign these books or are these their selections?
Such a good book review! My Amazon cart is filling up!!!!
