I totally hear you on your feelings about deleting your footage! Must be so frustrating...thanks for changing your mind and deciding to have this chat with us again ❤️
Thank you so much for sharing. I know this is a lot of work and you are so busy. I appreciate hearing about middle school and highschool. Thank you
You mentioned that you used Horizons Math. Do you not use TGATB Math? I thought you use ALL subjects with TGATB?
So excited about the discount on the character cards! I’ve been eyeing them in your videos all year.
Obsessed with your videos!! I appreciate all your help❤️ What do you do with the curriculum they have used and are done with? I’m scared to get rid of things but also don’t want to keep everything. I’ve also looked to see if you’ve done a video on how you store and organize everything, if you have could you point me in that direction? Thanks!!
Thank you for sharing your reviews! So sorry your previous footage got deleted! Enjoy your summer! 😊
Thank you for sharing and all the hard work you put into your videos!
One of my very favorite UA-cam homeschool mamas! 😍 thank you for sharing! You are so inspiring to me as a homeschool mom and new youtuber!
I always love to hear your opinion on curricula!! Thank you for taking the time to record again. I am wondering where you get your seasonal bundles
Am I the only one who wishes they knew what she would use now if her kid was in Kindergarten, Pre K, first second third? I always see the older videos you did and wonder if you'd make a different choice with the younger grades if you had younger kids now. I've got a first grader who I pulled from public kindergarten to home school. He came out knowing half the letters and sounds and number recognition to 7 and able to count to 12 with no mistakes. It's hard to watch home school moms first grade curriculum choices as they are more advanced. I think I have a pretty good idea which curriculums to use.
I would use primarily the good and the beautiful for the young ages! And just read good books. I’d still use explode the code. The rest id skip!
@@GraceandGrit you're so awesome for replying! I saw my message getting long so I cut it short Haha. I've been having do TGATB pre K LA and will continue on with each next level they have. Started with the math but it does sort of frustrate him when it seems like it expects him to have good number recognition already. I thought about looking into horizons K before continuing with Tgatb K but I'm on the fence. He is an extremely active boy who doesn't like to sit or look at flash cards. Maybe we can find just some fun games to get a better letter and number foundation for a month or so before continuing. I started him on explode the code, there are some getting ready for the code books so its geared toward letter recognition. He loves it. Maybe I can just find something light and fun like that for numbers as well and then continue on with TGAtb once hes a bit more comfortable. We are absolutely blessed to have him back home with us!! He cried at drop off almost every day going to kindergarten. I started researching how to teach him what he was behind in (my opinion, the school had never even informed me) and I found Tgatb videos and eventually your channel. You've helped me educate my son, encouraged me to follow my intuition (the Holy spirit if were being honest) I'm back exercising almost daily, got my husband hooked on built bars when he feels like a candy bar lol. (I love them too but I like savory snacks) and I look forward to your content so much! Thank you so much! It really is like having coffee with a friend :) thanks for writing, I really value your opinion!!
Thank you!!! For the last 3 years you have been my tribe! My children are the same ages as yours and you reviews and picks have been extremely helpful and encouraging. Thank you Ashlee!
Thanks for the review Ashlee, I really value your input on curriculum. My four year old (just turned 4, 2 days ago) daughter came up to me while I was watching this video and said she loves you lol! So there you have it, you're loved in this household!!
So sweet! ❤️❤️
I’m so glad that you filmed again, this was so so helpful and informative! Usborne has really good intro to coding books, my son has used and enjoyed the intro to Python and learned so much.
Thanks for that tip!
I bought gratitude journals for my 2 current homeschoolers and one for me! We are loving the Good and the Beautiful...science, language arts, and history, and drawing! Excellent curriculum! We have struggled for years with finding a math that we like. We may try CTC math this year although I really do not like to jump around!
Your daughter may enjoy the essentials in literature and writing series. Much less expensive and the workbook is easy to understand and complete 😊
Thanks for the review! What specific things did you not like about BJU writing and grammar?
I have some detailed info on my channel under this years quarter updates!
I’ll need to rewatch this later.my oldest is finishing pre-k and we’ll be starting kindergarten in the fall. I’ll look into some of the resources you used for your youngest, seeing if they have more basic levels.
Awesome video! Where did you get the bundles from?
So sorry your first version got deleted- what a pain! Thanks for powering through for us again!
I am using compuscholar for my son that is interested in computer and programming. He is really enjoying it
I love how proud you are of your son 🥰
Christian Light Education has a couple of computer courses you may want to check out for your son. I believe they are computer basics and computer repair and service.
Thank you for the great reviews. Appreciate all your time taken for this. 100% agree with the WW2 studies,
Thank you for sharing these reviews!
we love explode the code and my kids loved every book 1-8!
Totally agree on the BJU for 8th grade. We stopped it after like 3 weeks 😏
We did a trial of teaching textbooks and I didn't really like it. It was super glitchy ans I feel like it felt "old school" lol. I thought I wanted something independent but thst made me realize I didn't lol. It didn't feel convenient to go look at her work. It was neat that it graded it so I didn't need to "do math" to check work but a lot was multiple choice and I found grace guessing a lot and just getting things wrong. She would rather guess than ask for help. Could totally see me enjoying this later when my kids are older though!!
Making kids show their work with TT is critical to the success of the program. I had to make one kid redo 60 lessons because of him using an algebra calculator. Ugh! Showing work made all the difference.
Thank you for the Character cards.
I’ve been meaning to ask about the character cards! Thanks!
One reason I have not gone with TT is that it stops at Pre-Calc. What are your plans for your kids? Dual enrollment?
I’ll cross that bridge when we get there!
I've been considering letting my up coming 7th grader do Algebra 1. He is almost finished with Saxon pre algebra. Just feel like maybe 7th is too young for algebra, so this helps me. Glad your son was successful.
With teaching textbooks do you purchase a textbook as well? My daughter did the grade 4 with teaching textbooks and she found it so frustrating because she had to write out all of the problems and then do the work for them. Maybe we did it wrong though.
Cracking up on why WW2 is especially important right now. I see you girl. I absolutely adore you. 😆
❤️❤️❤️
This video was still great! Thank you for recording again! What a nightmare though 😫😵
Hi! Just finished watching your curriculum choices for next year ...thanks so much for sharing!! Just wondering I know you are a huge fan of TGATB ... But I noticed that science is with BJU ... Is that because you feel science is for younger grades or something else ?
Did you use all three book studies for your 8th grader?
I am glad to see this review about the Apologia Health. I was definitely interested in this course for my son who will be in 8th next year. Did you end up finishing the course? As a registered dietitian I loved the sample pages, I look back to my health course in high school and it was such a joke all I actually remember was watching the Miracle of Life and being taught abstinence (I went to Catholic schools.) Thank you for these videos :)
We did finish half which was what we needed for the credit!
Love the reviews!
Super interested in the character cards! How often did you use those? Once a day, once per week?
Once a day!
Thank you for the video. I'm so sorry that the first one did not work out. I think I would have probably cried. Thais was greatness. I was just curious, I cannot remember from precious videos if you talk about this or not. Did your daughter for the bju Literature in one semester or did you make it all year. We do Bju for almost all subjects but not sure my daughter is going to do as well in literature this year. My son liked it but we did 1 BJU day already over 2 days. It took quite a while to listen and do work with the way Miss Pringle did videos. Thanks for any feedback.
We struggled through a quarter of grammar and then said no more. So literature lasted the rest of our year
With wordly wise, is the instructor bundle necessary or just the student workbook ok?
I don’t need the manual!
After visiting the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum are there any “must get” books you found? Thinking of what we can get for Bible time in the morning.
Too many to list! Buy them all! Def the answers books for kids. And one race one blood
@@GraceandGrit I’ll write those down! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing! So sorry your first video got deleted! That stinks!!
Out of curiosity - why did you not like the BJU writing & grammar? I have never used it, but I am curious as to your thoughts.
I have some detailed info in my quarter updates!
@@GraceandGrit how do I find those videos?
How does it work for "unschoolers" in Arizona? In Florida anything really goes... But we do like you do-pretty strict. Im just super curious.
Arizona just requires parents to sign a form agreeing to school their students in Math, English, Science, and Social Studies. No oversight or required testing. A civics test is now required to earn a high school diploma, but it’s not state-administered so a homeschooling parent could easily administer the test if they plan to follow state graduation requirements.
We are going to be doing TGTB for math 1. Super excited! I'm looking at getting Mammals this year. My kids are preschool and kindergarten age and they love farm and forest animals what would you suggest to add in book wise?
Tgatb has some book packs!
Do you keep all of your kid's used curriculum or do you throw it all away at the end of the year? I have such trouble parting with their stuff because we have all worked so hard on it all year, lol.
Video coming!
@@GraceandGrit Yay!!!
Did your daughter, by chance, do TGTB’s book study on Screwtape Letters? Curious on your thoughts. My freshman, soon to be sophomore, just finished it. Another homeschool mom saw her reading and made a comment that that was a *pretty big* book for such a young girl to be reading. I probably should have read it first but if I’m being honest, I don’t have the time to read every book before my kids, and I trust TGTB. I will read it at some point but I’m curious if you think it’s an okay book for a 9th grader (a mature 14yo might I add) to read.
She hasn’t done it, but we both read the book ahead of her. It’s incredible and definitely for an advanced reader as well as someone strong in faith in my opinion.
We are going to move on to TG&TB L.A. level 5 in the fall. Why did you feel that Wordly Wise was needed as well?
I just enjoy them having additional things they can do independently
How did you feel the LA level 5 did with spelling?
I have two 3rd graders. We just started homeschooling last month and are using The Good and The Beautiful. We ordered all the subjects except math because it will not be released until August……Should I wait to order or use horizon with them until next year?
Totally up to you!
Would you recommend for a 7th grader just starting TGATB language to do Level 7? We are transferring from Abeka
Why didn't you like the BJU english? I'm using it for my kids and love it so far but I've only used up through 5th grade. I've heard it changes a lot after 6th and I'd love to know why you hated it.
The list is long.
Boring, dry, outdated videos. Explanations made very confusing. After coming from tgatb it was just so awful.
@@GraceandGrit oh wow, must be very different in the upper grades!
I have an upcoming 2nd and 4th grader, and this will be our first year homeschooling. I’ve decided to go with TGTB curriculum. The boys have picked marine biology and geology for science. I understand that there isn’t a specific required order; however, in your experience, do you think those 2 would be ok for their ages? Should I steer them to different science topics?
Those sound great
@@GraceandGrit Thank you😊
Also love how your kids work together on math. It's totally beneficial to all.
