I honestly don’t know what I would do without your videos! We’re on our first year homeschooling and did teaching textbooks. My daughter and I are not fans and I had no idea what to do for next year so this couldn’t have come at a better time! Such good info for me to think about for the kids curriculum next year. Thank you for everything you do for us mommas 🤎
One more question- you’ve mentioned talking to your kids about illegal drugs use. I’m struggling with navigating this topic and it’s SO important to me. My brother died of a drug overdose in 2009, one grand dad was an alcoholic, my husband’s grandfather was an alcoholic that ended his own life. I really want to tackle these topics, and I need guidance. It wasn’t done for me (other than the dare-just say no campaign in school in the 90s). I’d LOVE a video on how you do this, resources you use, what type of language you use, etc. 💜
I love this video. I love how you point out that us as parents and our kids teachers we are all learning so much. I’m learning so much seeing I dropped out of school in the 9th grade. I loved History in school and I’m loving the good and the beautiful history. We are doing year 2.
Came here for the math update, but got so much other information!!! I literally wouldn't know what to do in my homeschool without you. I pride myself in being a "researcher" but you're so much better! I cannot thank you enough for all the work you do!
Yes! I am so excited about Shormann math I found it this year after we had already purchased curriculum and I couldn't justify scrapping or attempting to sell and recoup. So glad to hear more people loving it!
My oldest loved Shormann math and it prepared her so well for dual enrollment math. She was able to take college algebra and calculus this year as a senior via dual enrollment. We just started TG&TB for my youngest and so far it has been great for her.
Love this video! When we first started in 2018 I leaned highly into your recommendations- no pressure haha. We have picked our way through and use a huge variety now. I am definitely interested in that health course most of all!
Thank you so much for taking the time to update us on your school year. My oldest is in 5th grade and your experiences and tips always give me guidance for the upcoming school year 💗
Great to hear about Shoreman. We have been using saxon 8/7 for my 7th grader along with the DIVE videos which is the Shoreman guy. And following his suggestion and doing Shoreman Algebra 1 for 8th grade. So excited!
Fabulous update! I was particularly interested in the Shormann math update. I have an 8th grader and 6th grader doing Algebra I with the previous course you were using. Excite about looking into this new one!
Ashley, I haven't watched your videos in a while but I am soo glad I jumped back in. I love all your honest feedback! I have been doing Saxon because I'm not a big fan of teaching textbooks but my daughter is about to go to high school so I definitely will be looking into the Math you are doing!
These videos are so incredibly helpful! Thank you so much for taking the time to explain all of your experiences to us Ashlee. I am a mom that is a few years behind you so I have a playlist dedicated to curriculum to keep my eye on for the future and your videos like this fill that playlist. ❤️
I love ACE. We use it for Math and sometimes other courses. But, I am going to have to check out their health education book. Thanks for sharing!!! It is fun to hear what others think about different curriculum choices. Great video!
I could not agree more about the wonderful things with TGAB math and LA! I could not recommend them enough! So glad your year is going well and y’all are happy with your curriculum choices. That sense of contentment makes any homeschool year run smoothly. Also…your hair looks so pretty!😍
We also loving Shorman maths...👏🏼 My daughter is on math 5 TGATB.. my daughter loves the videos but doesn't always fully understand..so I sit with her most times and work through the work. Looking at moving over to Saxon Maths online for more explanation from Dr Shorman. I cannot find worldly wise in South Africa 🇿🇦 would love to use it. Thinking of getting logic..looks amazing ❣️
This was a first year homeschooling. My son is in 9th grade. The Good and Beautiful Language Arts program has been a real struggle. He doesn't like it at all, dreads the work everyday. I'm hoping next year I can find something different.
@Grace and Grit Oh man. That is very discouraging. He was public schooled till this year so, I don't know if it's just that the transition has been hard. :/ He hates all of the writing and poet studies.
Thanks for this video. Love, love your top you are wearing! We are planning to make the move to Shormann math for next year. Really struggling right now with what we are using for Algebra. We also enjoy the Logic course. We switched a month into the school year to TGTB Simply Math and it has been a big hit with my younger child.
Did you just purchase the MB Introduction to Logic teacher’s guide? Or is it required to purchase the additional workbook for our kids to do the worksheets?
We are using TGATB Math 3 and I really love it too. I love that each lesson has the new material and review from the last couple of lessons. I really like the review for my son.
Thank you for your reviews. We are excited to try the G&B science next year. We are using Science Shepherd this year, it works and we like it, but the G&B looks much more detailed and hands on. We love their math and ELA and I'm looking forward to seeing the changes they make in the lower level programs for my youngest.
So helpful, as always, Ashlee!!! Thank you! I am thinking ahead for next year and even future years as I have a 6th grader so I made some note for things in the next few years.
Thanks for this update! Three of my kids are using the good and the beautiful math and they all love it. I will say the younger two are jealous of the older one because of her QR code videos though! This is our fourth or fifth math curriculum switch and we feel completely happy with sticking with it.
I’m using Horizons for my son (first grade) for math. The number of problems IS daunting. He’s very strong mathematically, and I do think he’s doing well with it, but it seems very boring. I do like how easy it is to use and he can do most of each lesson on his own, so that’s nice. But, I’m worried he’s going to go from loving math to being bored with it. Your reviews are very helpful!! LOVE TGTB LA so much! I may have to try their math next year.
These are my favorite kind of videos! I loveeeee curricula haha. I use TT as “homework” for the kiddos so they do one lesson a day in addition to their TGATB lesson but not because I think TGATB is lacking but like you- have multiple littles that I am homeschooling and sometimes I need to engage them in an independent activity while I work 1:1. I got wordly wise for next year also as well as easy grammar and hwot. I plan to just sort of rotate through those as independent review while I work 1:1 with them in TGATB language arts. TGATB makes it so much easier for swap hats so frequently. Love love love
I never thought I'd change curriculum halfway through our school year but we started doing Saxon 5/4 with my oldest son and he had so much trouble with it because it involves so much writing this year. I decided to make the switch to simply good and beautiful math with him and our daughter after hearing such good things about it from you and others. My son is gifted with math but was diagnosed with dysgraphia this past month which has to do with transcription. Hoping this new curriculum works for us!
Thank you! Always so helpful!!! First I love love love your sweater!!! Would love to know where you got it from! I literally love that I use all the things you do and have always taken your advice & it’s always worked so well for us! Thank you for always being so helpful!!!!
I've been looking at the Logic course for a while, but thought it looked boring. You've got me tempted to try it after all! My daughter finished the ACE Health course last semester. We liked it too! We also really Love Shormann for Algebra 2!
We absolutely love the MB Logic course and used the videos and watched it all as a family. Then I go over it and discuss it deeper with my older teens. Very solid stuff! I would recommend RoadTrip to Truth next if you all enjoyed Logic. MBs Roadtrip to Truth is fantastic and a top favorite for us! The short videos bring in so much great discussions! It’s so good and heavy apologetics and very engaging. A must for a college bound student. Also, I very much agree about Shormann math!!
I switched from one math curriculum this year to Horizons level 1 as my daughter was having a hard time grasping concepts. She seems to enjoy the spiral approach. Would you recommend sticking with Horizons instead of going to TT later on (knowing what you know now) or would you recommend TGTB math instead?

How does aces present immunizations?
Talks about what they are and which diseases they are for. But does not present a stance either way.
