- Here's a nice holiday commercial for Kellogg's cereals (Froot Loops, Frosted Flakes, Frosted Rice, Rice Krispies, Cocoa Krispies, and Sugar Smacks) featuring the mascots Tony the Tiger, Tony Jr., Snap Crackle and Pop, Toucan Sam, Dig'em the Frog, and Tusk the Elephant.
Featuring Thurl Ravenscroft as the voice of Tony the Tiger.
"It's gonna be a great day."
This aired on local Chicago TV on Tuesday, December 9th 1980 during the 8pm to 10pm timeframe.
About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:
The Museum of Classic Chicago Television's primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s and early 80s, primarily) recorded off of any and all Chicago TV channels; footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical purposes. For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or lend tapes to be converted to DVD, and to view more of the 4,500+ (and counting) video clips available for viewing in our online archive, please visit us at:

a very underrated Christmas commercial
The part with Tony and the rest of the Kellogg's mascots bringing the tree home and decorating it reminds me a little bit of A Charlie Brown Christmas.
This got me misty-eyed.
Nice! I remember this one. Too bad they don't make commercials like this anymore. :(
Kelloggs had the best Cartoon characters of all the cereal brands. They were like the "Warner Brothers" of Cereals for me!
This is a beautiful classic commercial. To bad it's not shown anymore during the holidays.
These days, some equal rights coalition would find a reason to deem this commercial offensive, culturally insensitive and exclusionary.
@@gregmottola8539 That's because these damn Femi Nazis needs professional help.
This Kellogg's commercial is making me weep - I spend every Christmas with friends, and yet I still feel alone; I just wish someone were here with me now.
Don't u jus' wanna cry every time u see this?
Yea 😊
Merry Christmas
I always used to like the fact that they dug the tree up rather than chopping it down...probably to have pride of place in the yard the rest of the year, then reign over next Christmas. :-)
FINALLY, someone posted this! Someone had a version up before, but it was a different version without the "It's Gonna Be A Great Day" music.
I love the atmosphere of it, the popcorn-stringing, the universe of warmth that Thurl Ravenscroft put into those few short lines. Who knew cartoon cereal mascots could seem so much like a family?
Well, Kellogg’s felt like it; General Mills, not so much.
I love commercials like this. They make me feel all warm and fuzzy (either that, or I sat in something, j/k). I think we need more commercials like these.
This should be played even now !so nice !
This commercial really brought the whole Kellogg’s gang together as they help a very small tree turn into a Christmas one.
I’ve waited a long time to see THIS again.
Kenneth A Huang 10/8/22.
Happy holidays from Kellogg's
I remember this commercial when Ise a little boy, around 1975. It. Touches my ❤ heart.
One of the best Christmas Kellogg's commercials that came out I always loved watching this I was only ten at the time.
thanks for posting.. it's always been in my head to this day now I finally get to see it!
the best kelloggs commercial ever made
This used to kind of choke me up. Still does a bit.
They should use this again!!!
just in time for the college football game who would win tusk or tony
I used to love ❤️ this commercial when I was little
NOSTALGIA 🙂
Very heart warming. 👍
Thurl Ravenscroft
I Wish Kelloggs would bring back this classic
commercial to say it sucks would be an understatement.
It's sad.😢
This along with the McDonalds ice skating commercial were favorites as a kid
I loved that McDonald's commercial too. I'm not a fan of Ronald McDonald, but there's something about that commercial that makes me smile.
I never seen before.
Merry Christmas From Kellogg’s! Ho ho ho!
Wow..
The memories!
Charlie Brown’s not the only one who cares for tiny Christmas trees anymore.
If Kellogg made this commercial today, they will say happy holidays and not Merry Christmas.
Merry Knoshmas In Decembur, Kellogg's G.F. Cereal Phriends From A Chowder Hollidday Special !🌾🚫🎅🏻🤶🏻
I love it
This is so wholesome
I’m here from Real Fans 4 Real Movies. They’re talking about classic commercials like this.
aww little fella , so wedig you up out of your natural home surrounded by tree family and bring you indoors decorate you and then toss you out after christmas , GOOOO TIGER
R.I.P. Thurl Ravenscroft!!!?
"Aw, poor little fella! Let's cut you down and put you in the house...and then put you by the curb for yard waste disposal on January 2"
0:08 Aw, poor little fella. No one should spend Christmas alone.
This is the version of General Mills with CBC Kids cereals for Christmas
I know all of these mascots from my childhood except for Tusk the Elephant and Tony, Jr.. (I'm 29.) ;-)
Randy Dubin Tony jr was in early Frosted Flakes commercials and frosted rice from 1875 to 1982 and Tusk was a mascot for Cocoa Krispies in the 70's
This is the version of Kellogg's with Disney and 20th Century Fox cereals for Christmas
After the event returns.
And I would also have Sugar Pops Pete also
This is one of the "Cereal" commercials I recall. It seems there are others on UA-cam which have a different-looking Tony the Tiger: Not the one with a more computerized Tony, but as if a completely different animator drew him.
Up until the mid-70s, Tony looked a bit more like a 'real' tiger, with larger, green eyes.
Merry Christmas from King's today this commercial would have Leo the tiger Toucan Sam and his nephews Dig Em and Snap Crackle Pop Leo jr maybe
Geeze. They would never do that again.
We need less "Change. "
Tony the Tiger
Tony jr
didint they do another commercial that parodied the breakfast club?
Post never wished me a merry Christmas. They never wished anybody a merry Christmas.
They did with Fred and Barny for Coco and Fruity Pebbles
Modern day 21st century cereal commercials are nothing but PC abominations.
Very much so
😢
Leo the Lion
Leo jr
Animation by Hanna Barbera?
***** No.
No! But I like Kellogg’s and Hanna Barbera Too.
Positivity and no wokeism
Yes that the way it used to be sadly not anymore 😕
yes when Christmas was about Christmas and not about little Johnny having two daddies or how Timmy finally became Tammy.....
A symbol of what Christmas should be but isn't opening your heart not your wallet. Donald Trump would hate this commercial cause it symbolizes compassion which Trump doesn't have.
