The sweet taste of '80s cereal! A massive thanks to all of you for the continued support of my nostalgic content. I have many more original retro videos planned, so be sure to sub and stay tuned! - Розваги
This retro breakfast cereal premiere is going to be 'Great'!!...get it? :D
😁🙂😄😃
Like the bad pun.
I was born in 1977. I've had most of these cereals, and I remember all the commercials. This took me back.
Yes Tony we get it! 👍
@@JReed7560 Too late! You had to be born 10 years earlier 😃
I loved growing up in the 80's. Sugary cereals with prizes inside the boxes and Saturday morning cartoons. Those were the days!
The best!
Those were the days!
Grew up in the 70s.
What?! The little buggers have cartoon networks 24/7 + the internet! In our time at 12h TV fun was OVER!
I hear ya the early 1980s watching Saturday morning cartoon with my 2 older brothers and sister in our cramped NYC apt And I miss them and those times! Love your channel I wish you much success
Man, this takes me back to Saturday morning cartoons while eating cereal. Every 80s kid can relate.
Raisins were everywhere in the 80s. I remember raisins being so much more prominent than they are today. Even a had a claymation singing group of raisins with merch everywhere. They really wanted us to eat raisins lol.
Ha! They sure did
That's big raisin for ya 🤣
Not only that-- the California Raisins were so popular, they got their own (I assume short-lived) animated series.
@Joseph Shmo Sorry, dude:(
@@ladyvincenza And their own Christmas special.
Gets aggravated having to watch commercials on TV now, but watches 15 minutes of ads voluntarily.🤔🤣....Great videos. I love a trip down memory lane once in awhile.
Awesome! Thank you!
@@DavesArchives true.
Saturday morning cartoons with a big bowl of cereal and watching cereal commercials in between. Take me to this time again.
it will never be a time like that ever again :(
jamie oiler yes sadly you are correct.
@@the_skywire we have nothing good at all to look forward to in life anymore except for death :(
@@jamieoiler5690 just be happy you lived it. I can’t see what the fuck kids do nowadays besides phone games and buying crap online.
any 80's saturday morning commercials, cartoons are GREAT
Those were the good old days!! I still do this, Saturday mornings enjoying a big bowl of cereal and watching/casting youtube 80s TV commercials, 80s cartoons, 80s sports clips and etc. Great memories I can still enjoy today. Because everything now/today sucks!!!
Can you imagine having someone shooting a gun in a cereal commercial now?
They wouldn't be allowed to air it!
😂😂😂 not happening for sure
Not so much the shooting but the menacing way he showed the gun to the poor bee.😁
would be laughing in joy cause everybody"s a pussy now
Yes just imagine, it might influence somebody to enact a mass shooting, and that never happens does it
7:27 Fun fact, this series of Total commercials was the inspiration for SNL’s classic “Colon Blow” sketch 😆
I was wondering about that!
Gappasaurus 😂
“How many bowls of your oat bran cereal would it take to equal the fiber content of one bowl of Colon Blow?”
“It would take over THIRTY THOUSAND bowls...” 😄
@@DavesArchives oh.
Saturday mornings were amazing back then. The commercials were just as great as the cartoons.
Yes it was
@@DavesArchives indeed.
Back when you got a prize in every box . Love it 😆
I wish I could get that feeling back when I was clawing to get to the prize in the bottom of a cereal box. Or the anticipation of mailing away cereal box tops and patiently waiting for it to show up in the mail, which felt like forever. When is it that we lose that innocence and why. Sure we have to grow up eventually, but why do we have to get rid of that childhood excitement?
GetBackIn TheKitchen this comment is soooo relatable. I’ve been asking this very question for a few years.
Does anyone remember those packages of 10 (I think) individual boxes of cereal? We always ended up with Raisin Bran left 😖 Honey Smacks went 1st!
Fruit Loops, Frosted Flakes and Corn Pops seem to disappear fastest in my day
I remember. You cut the box open and pour milk inside. The small box was your cereal bowl.
Yes! I remember those. Was 8-10 little boxes of different cereals in a wrapped package.
Yep. My sister and I would fight over fruit loops. Needless to say my mom only bought them when we went camping.
I miss these days so much. Grateful for UA-cam that I can relive them. Going to watch Red Shoe Diaries after this LOL
I am not an American and i was born in the end of 1990 but I really enjoy it. At the same time i have some strange feeling that i was born in wrong time (80s nostalgia while I've never lived in 80s)
I’ll be honest, as a kid in that golden era, I went after most of those cereals! Or which ever one had the coolest toy!
We were all about raisins in the 80's.
You made me think of the "California Raisins!"
I heard it on the grapevine.
I agree!!!💯
@@stephenjohnson9632 And now un thinking about the Levis jeans ad. Im sure you all remember. ua-cam.com/video/Q56M5OZS1A8/v-deo.html
Liza Waldman Yeah, we were.
Wow! 14 minutes of my childhood right there.
DAVE IS AWESOME. Nothing is more 80s commercials nostalgia than cereal ads. It's a honey of an O!
Thanks, Mark!
Hahaha! You know I never thought of it like that! 😂
@@DavesArchives wow.
If I had a flux capacitor I’ll live perpetually in that decade! Born in ‘89
I had no idea Rue McClanahan was in a cereal commercial! I just loved her. RIP ma'am.
The actress portraying a nurse in the Nut 'n Honey Crunch cereal looks like the vice principal with the huge mole on her face in the movie "Uncle Buck".
I loved that scene! Laughed when he tossed her quarter and advised her to go downtown and have a rat bite that thing off her face... Lol.
The 80s were awesome!
A. Steagall Yes, Uncle Buck made it to a sitcom on CBS in 1990-91, though I don’t think it did too well.
Reminds me of Louise Fletcher's character of Nurse Ratchet (Ratched?) in the Jack Nicholson movie _One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest..._
80s cereal commercial
Cereal ✔
Glass jug of milk ✔
Glass of orange juice ✔
Additional glass of milk✔
Tow pieces of toast with butter✔
Ha, love it!
Yeah, their idea of a "balanced/complete breakfast" was a little wacky... lol
and an orange on the side
Why was it in the commercials that they had the pitcher of milk, glasses of milk and orange juice, and a plate of toast to go along with the cereal? Who eats toast with cereal?
@@DavesArchives me too.
The nurse at 14:33 played Miss Balbricker on the movie Porky's!
The “Honey Nut Cheerios” commercial cracked me up. A cowboy shooting at an animated bee? Lol. Oh 80s, I miss you :(
Victoria Jackson from SNL!
you got any retro toy commercials those were the best back in the day
Yup - I may not have enough for a full episode but its on my list. Thx!
@@DavesArchives yes.
I’m not even from America but I love this
I was born in the late 90s, but I enjoy watching commercials before my time! This is awesome!
God miss those 6am Saturday mornings with a bowl of Corn Pops. My lineup :
The Snorks
The Gummi Bears. Now on Disney streaming
The Smurfs
Then Kung Fu movies lol.
Ha, they always ended with the kung fu movies!
Now I'm going to be singing that Gummi Bears theme in my head all night. Thanks.
Since when did Saturday morning cartoons start at 6 am? Typically they started at 8 am and often into the afternoon. In any case, 6am, whether light or not, is too early.
@@frankwm1988 If you were up early, all the good stuff started around 5 or 6 a.m. Tom & Jerry, Porky Pig, Heckyll & Jeckyll.
@@DavesArchives yes.
Interesting fact in Canada we still call it sugar crisp. They changed it in the states as using the word sugar in a cereal name turned away parents
I remember seeing that cereal commercial with the lady from the golden girls never knew what she meant by saying she was so bad last night now that I’m grown I know exactly what she talking about lol
The rabbit should have just trusted that it's upside down day and asked for the Trix. Since everything's backwards the kids would give it to him.
I remember in the late 60’s I believe, it used to be called super sugar crisp and then in the 80’s I think, it became golden crisp, when a lot of manufacturers took the word sugar out of the description. Thanks Dave, great job as always!
Victoria Jackson! What a nice surprise seeing her, in the Honey Nut Cheerios commercial.
Arnold "Diddle Diddle Dee" Herman and Katnip Stang was hte bee
If u think about it , that lady put flour in her face making rice krispy treats but aint no flour used in that process 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
I think the people behind the Raisin Squares commercial were trying WAY TOO HARD to sell the cereal.
😁😁😁😁
I loved that cereal, as I got to be a pre teen and teen.
Going back in time while stuck at home. Love these!
Enjoy!
@@DavesArchives me too Dave.
Oh, gosh, I choked up a little when I saw John Denver.
Grape Nuts..that cereal was(and still is) MURDER on your teeth
Oh's jingle shouldve been Oh's,Oh's,Oh's it's Magic..
Can the intro theme be found in the New RetroWave channel..?
Crispy Wheats and raisins and Ohs were among my favorite cereals back in the day. I didn't realize how much I missed them until seeing their commercials
You should do 80s coffee commercials too! ☕️
Great idea! Definitely on my list, thanks Amber!
@@DavesArchives okay 👌🆗👍▶️🙂😊🚫💵💰😂🤣🌍🚭😴✅🛑 Dave.
I'm eating Oh's cereal while watching this 🙂
80s cartoon commercials would be cool. Masters of the universe, she ra, thunder cats, gi Joe, transformers, inspector gadget...
9:00 Isn't that Robbie Rist the kid who played Cousin Oliver in The Brady Bunch?
Yep. Now I want to watch old Kidd Video episodes.
@@Goldnfoxx wow! I didn't know that Robbie Rist was on Kidd Video! I don't remember much about that show but I always thought that his character was kind of cute.
I knew him as the computer hacker in _Iron Eagle..._ :-)
Yes
And the voice of Michelangelo in TMNT
That feeling of opening a new box of cereal, then reaching your entire arm into the bag of cereal to find that toy prize... good times!!!
Parents hated that, but we did it anyway...
Dave’s Archives is an important institution. Have caught myself walking down memory lane on this channel or trying to understand what it was like back in the old days watching these commercials. So interesting watching these from a commercial/cultural perspective. Thank you.
Even after all these years, I can still remember the jingle to many of these. 😂
Wow this takes me back awesome memories. thanks man 🙏
No problem 👍
@@DavesArchives indeed Dave.
In the Honey Nut Cheerios commercial (#2), that was Victoria Jackson from SNL as the saloon girl.
@JRebecca
Was just checking to see if anyone else noticed that 😄
@@Gappasaurus I did the same thing before commenting! 🤣
Was going to ask the same thing.
Used to have a crush on her back in the day. Not so much now.
I thought so but couldn't remember her name. She also looked directly at the camera at the end 😂😂😂
Thanks for the wonderful trip down cereal lane-hate to admit I’ve probably tried all those cereals! You’ve probably already done sneaker commercials...
Mom would only buy Shredded Wheat biscuits, Corn Flakes or Special K. Still wistfully watching sugar cereal ads. 😂🤣😂🤣
Same with my mom. Except Grape Nuts replaced Corn Flakes. And Fruit and Fiber for Special K. I did get my sugar cereal fix when I stayed over at my cousin's house. 😆
I’ve been lucky. My favorite cereals as a kid in the ‘80s were Corn Pops, Life Cinnamon and Shredded Mini Wheats all still exist widely today.
Anyone remember Freakies cereal?I think they were just in the 70s though.
Just subbed and already loving your channel just as much as a bowl of Fruity Pebbles on a Saturday morning in 1987. Thank you for bringing back me as a kid. Your channel is amazing...
🍕🍰
Thanks, Brandon!
@@DavesArchives you too Dave.
7:12 proto Blanche Devereaux.
I was born in 1981 and it's amazing how many of these commercials I do remember from the late '80s.
So this idea might be a little "niche" but how about a collection of video game ads?
Thanks GS! Got it on the list 😁
As a kid in the 80s I used to look at the Sears or JC Penny (can't remember which) catalog and drool over all the Nintendo games that were available.

Black Bart seemed very stressful to that little 🐝 😆
I couldn't wait to get home to get the prize from the box. Either that or read how many box tops to send to get something in the mail.
Wow! I had forgotten about some of those commercials until I saw them again! Thanks, Dave!
Very welcome!

I was born back in the 80's, Why did things have to change since those days?
They were always going to
Love old cereal commercials
I loved this so much , Good morning from Australia 🇦🇺
I don't care what anybody says here, the '80s were the greatest time to be a kid and to grow up in that era. We had all back then, like seriously we did. Cereals with prizes in them, the cracker Jack boxes with prizes.
Also you can't forget about the awesome music, the cartoons, the movies, the tv shows, the games and action figures and so much more. One of my favorite all times prizes to get out of the cereal boxes was the wacky crawl walkers, they were sticky they felt weird and they were cool how they came down on the walls too, after you threw them up there. it's so weird how time passed us all, very fast and very quick
From 1980s to 1990s to 2022.
Back then we were all young teenagers or young kids, and now look at us all adults now. Too bad we can't go back in time
*Bring back NUT&HONEY CRUNCH!*
Found your comment 😁
Yes!! One of the best cereals!!
Yes! One of my favorite series of commercials too!
I miss the cereal jingles and the idea that you need to bring a box of cereal everywhere you go.
Soda, pizza, cereal. How about gum?!
It's on my list! I have them all ready to go - next iconic episode my be computer ads from the 80s or airline ads. Stay tuned :)
@@DavesArchives wow.
Thank you
I would like to see 80's fast food commercials like Wendy's and any others y9u can find.
Great - will add it to the list. Thanks!
Michael G ha! Thanks! Yeah, I’ll be including him on my upcoming RC compilations. Got the video games idea on the list. Thanks!
Grape nuts are literally inedible
Not with enough milk on them, they're not--or if you try them as a hot cereal. :-)
@@ModdingNewbie i wouldn't feed grape nuts to my worst enemy
I forgot how many cereals had raisins!
How did I forget the Honey Nut Cheerios bee? It’s like he was always on meth 😂
Remember that one movie that predicted we would be watching tuning in to retro commercials for entertainment?? Lol its real
This was great! Thanks for the trip down memory lane. :)
Grape Nuts-gravel in a box😂 It’s funny how every cereal had a jingle and a marketing slogan. I can’t even recall any ads now other than they’ve never cereals-just ‘hurt in a car, call (x) lawyer’🤦🏼♀️
Blast from the past! This brought back a lot of memories! A box of cereal did not last long in my house. I was lucky if I got one Bowl! S'Mores Crunch was a great cereal! Great video Dave! Thanks
This is going to be epic
70s and 80s cigar, pipe tobacco, chewing tobacco and cigarette commercials. Back when everyone smoked everywhere.
Juan G! Smoking and non-smoking sections in restaurants.
I thought that tobacco promotion ended in 1971?
@@frankwm1988 I remember Marlboro, red man and skoal commercials in the 80s. Earl Campbell did a skoal commercial in 1980. They're all on UA-cam I just thought it be cool to see an combination on this channel.
I've been looking for a breakfast cereal commercial for Pro Stars, starring Wayne Gretzky and his mom.
I’d love to see more looks at commercials. The 90s had some gems.
SMORES CRUNCH WAS SO GOOD! I had forgotten all about it. I guess it was discontinued ☹️
Yes it was!
I'd forgotten all about too. Never had them, used to beg my parents for it, but they always nixed them.
They have a Smores cereal still...i seen it the other day
@@DavesArchives sure.
Do you have commercials focused on convenience foods. Like hamburger helpers, frozen meals, canned food, etc? By the way, love your channel. Reminds me when commercials were fun
I wish I was an 80s kid. There are so many things that I would love to experience.
I remember watching so many cereal commercials in the 80s. Fruity Pebbles, Trix (I always wanted the rabbit to win, even though I knew he wouldn't), Fruit Loops, Cap'n Crunch, Cocoa Puffs, Lucky Charms, Cookie Crisp, all had classic cartoon characters and story arcs attached to them. Nowadays I think they were a little too rough about saying only kids should be eating the cereal (Trix and Golden Crisp namely), but I like looking back on them with nostalgia.
7:36 "If you're really a Prince, I'll marry you." - Coming to America Lady
Seen them all only remember a couple 😂😂😂 nut n hunny was always my favorite.
I remember every one of these commercials right down to the toy inside. Thanks for the compilation its definitely one of my favorites!!
Glad you enjoyed it
I never realized that Tony the Tiger could give me such a sense of existential dread...
Two words for a cereal... Colon Blow!!
That’s Victoria Jackson.
Sure is! (Honey nuit). And tha'tsd Arnold Stang as the bee.
Who played the cowboy in that commercial?
I don't know of any child in the 80's who watched Saturday morning cartoons eating a bowl of Total. Lol. My cereal of choice was Ghostbusters cereal.
There's a man with a GUN in the Honey Nut Cherrio commercial. AND he shoots at the bee. Good times, good times.
Back when breakfast was an event and the back of the cereal box was your morning newspaper
Seems like there were more "bran" cereal in the 80s. I guess Americans had a hard time pooping.
Bran was the "hey it's healthy!" buzzword back then. If it had bran in the title, it MUST be good for you... even if it had a ton of sugar or salt in it. lol
Dang that corn flakes commercial from 1984 was really catchy. Oh yeah 🎵😎 soon as I heard that beat at 6:14 lol
I use to look forward to getting a surprise in the cereal boxes back then..what happen to that ....I miss the old days
Victoria Jackson playing a typical blonde. Imagine that.
