- Here's a neat animated commercial for Kellogg's cereals (Froot Loops, Frosted Flakes, Rice Krispies, Raisin Bran, Sugar Smacks, and Apple Jacks) featuring all of their mascots - Tony the Tiger, Snap Crackle and Pop, The Raisin Bran Sun, Toucan Sam, Dig'em the Frog, Tony Jr. (Tony the Tiger's son), and Elmo the Elephant)
This aired on local Chicago TV on Friday, March 28th 1980 at a little after 7pm. :-)
About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:
The Museum of Classic Chicago Television's primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s and early 80s, primarily) recorded off of any and all Chicago TV channels; footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical purposes. For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or lend tapes to be converted to DVD, and to view more of the 4,700+ (and counting) video clips available for viewing in our online archive, please visit us at:

0:02, Good Morning, Mr. Sun
Having Kellogg’s cereal and hearing this song in the morning almost gives me hope for everyday, and a reminder that ITS GONNA BE A GREAT DAY 🥣🥛☀️😁
KELLOGG'S
The Best to You Each Morning
What I do love about this ad is that it has all the Kellogg's Characters appear in it, it's very interesting when you think about it, I mean some companies that have mascots for food, cereal, soda or candy don't bother to make a commercial where they all appear (although general mills did that a few years later)
The fact that this commercial was narrated by Thurl Ravenscroft makes it even better.
I’ve found that exclaiming, “It’s gonna be a great day!” as I hop out of bed helps greatly.
I love Frosted Flakes. As Tony says, "THERE GRRRRRREAT!".
I remember the first time I saw this was during the 1980 broadcast of "The Wizard of Oz".
To me, this commercial feels more like 1972 than 1980, based on the music, the animation, and the girl's outfit and hair.
Good classic commercial 👍
0:17 this is funny
*"Milk and cereal. Cereal and milk! Cereal and milk! Cereal and milk!"*
I want to have a great day with kellogg’s!
Tony the Tiger leads the way!
🐯
I hear the voices of Thurl Ravenscroft as Tony, Paul Frees as Toucan Sam, Frank Welker as Dig 'Em Frog, Paul Winchell as Tusk The Elephant and Don Messick as one of the Rice Crispies characters. Great ensemble cast!
R.I.P. Thur Ravenscroft, Paul Frees, Paul Winchell and Don Messick.
I think Don Messick was the voice of Snap. Wasn't Dana Hill the voice of Tony, Jr.?
The brown elephants name is melvin
I didn’t know Tusky was in this commercial.
Nice!to bad the box of Apple jacks don't have the drawings of the kids on it anymore, kind of sad.
When I get paid I’ll put in old school the best
This is the version of Kellogg's/Nickelodeon Cereals - It's Gonna Be A Great Day with new Kellogg's/Nickelodeon cereals based on the hit Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. tv shows
The hell is wrong with you?
I had a pretty good breakfast this morning with cereal, milk, juice, an apple and toast with jam!
Was that Thurl Ravenscroft voicing Tony The Tiger?
Yes, he had a grrr-rr-r-eat deep voice
It was indeed. May he rest in paradise
R.I.P. Thurl Ravencroft, Paul Winchell, and the Rest!!!?
The Elephant os From Choco Krispis
Melvin! My boy Melvin is in this commercial!
Sounds like a Disney song
How far we’ve fallen
LMAO Reading this nihilistic ass comment after finishing the video made my day
Is going to be a great day
0:55 Kenji and Emi: It's Gonna Be A Great Day! :D
Chocolate elephant? Which cereal was that?
Cocoa Krispies
His name is Melvin
I say gonna is not a word, it’s a slang word for going to.
It was first used in 1806 and Merriam and Webster would both disagree with you.
I thought the elephant’s name was Tusk (or Tusk! Tusk!)
