I'm a wannabe organic gardener...soooo.....you guys man are my heroes 🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷👌👍💪🌾🌼🌻🍓🍒🍎🍏🌽🥦🍠🥕🍅🌶️🥥🍻
“Friends, in general, are not any help at all...”. Classic!
Honestly, from what I've experience, you can't trust any people to not be naturally selfish at any given moment. We all do things to benefit ourselves. Even stuff that might do the opposite at the moment, we still wish it would benefit us somehow later.
Basically, don't expect people to go out of their way to help you. Be glad and thankful for whoever does but never put your full trust in someone else. Self reliance is key to success.
@@bored.in.california2111 time to leave California
I just stuck my avocado seed into the water, held by three toothpicks. Sitting here watching how to plant full grown trees.
Optimism ladies and gentlemen.
Just save $20 and get a tree from home depot and in about two years you'll have some fruit ! But I like your optimism 💪
Put it in dirt and water it . It'll take about 3-8 weeks to sprout but it will. Place in front of window sunny spot or outside if it's a above 70 degrees.
It won't produce fruit unless you graft onto it.
@@yoonmikim5663 it will produce fruit , it will just take a lifetime
@@mosthated8190 Bored said that it was started from a seed, so the fruit produced won't be good. It's better to graft new branches onto the stock stem. Look it up.
Thanks Jake and Shamus for the demo.
One thing I have learned from Sean is worm castings. Buy them, harvest them, live in them.
This information is " gold" thank you very much , keep up the good work !
I was just celebrating my avocado seed, sprigging out of the soil after 60 days of light maintenance! I live in Ohio, which is unfortunate for my sprig😡. My pot isn't very big. I hear they stay hardy as long as it doesn't get below 20 degrees. Thank you for posting the cross reference was pleasant as reassuring. Happy Labor Day weekend!
wow...someday can have like this garden
Thanks for sharing your "golden nuggets." Off to work!
Thank you very much for sharing.
Great video and interesting to learn more about avocado growing climate & area thanks
Thanks for the cool information.
well done keep up the good work
great video, third of live compost, native soil, blend lava rock sand, microisa , rock dust minerals, worm castings,
It's spelled mycorrhizae. Not trying to be condescending, just in case people have a hard time looking up products. Mycorrhizal fungi usually develops naturally anyway... but maybe he's just trying to get a good head start.
note: this is a newbie avocado grower comment so, don't be cruel :) ...compost can (allegedly) kill avocado if you put it on avocado root... compost usually goes on the top of the soil !? correct me if i'm wong. worm castings goes around the root. blend lava rock sand is commonly known as "sharp (river) sand" ... minerals are another (agriculture/science) story :) all the best !
Before applying compost make sure the decomposition process is done. While decomposing, compost material can reach really high temperatures which will kill almost any tree / plant.
Shamus you are the man bro! I idealize you.
5:44 BURN lmao. That "what" though hahaha
great video thank you
Surprised bumping into you here. Good info for avocado soil mix.
I like the reedy little dude with the jazzy flute voice; he’s pretty.
Great video.. this is my second attempt on successfully planting a avocado first one didn’t go so well.. Is there a difference in using live worms versus worm castings?
Awesome video. I have 3 avocados. The one that's in the backyard and grow toward my roof and it throws the avocado on top of the roof. It was its second time last year that it gave around 100 avocados. I gave to families and friends by the bag so they could share with their family. The other 2, one is from my backyard avocado and the one is different kind. they all was grown in compost instead of water.
so you can plant them close to your house?
nice clip
Nice vid. If u get local compost; I'm sure you can find local castings. I get a yard of fresh for 100usd. Find a farm and you'll have a new friend and you will forget those bags. Worm gold plus is good stuff though; but pricey.
look at Shamus, i added mycelium to my soil way back in 2010. lol boy had his weaties and hemp this morning
Just got a new Brogdon , about four feet in height. Found this video very helpful. One question? Can I keep in the nursery container for a little while? And when do I plant in the ground? Live in South Florida...
My favorite fruit a avocado
lmao shamus is halarious joking with jake
Awesome! And what about that Bo staff challenge results??
Nice good vibes, I just uploaded my food forest garden tour.
Can you please give me an idea where to purchase the products listed in your video! Thanks
How would i change this mix if native "soil" is pretty much rock and sand?
Hey great video. Just a question. Can I try this out with Indian climatic conditions?
Does this go for potted avocado trees as well?
Love the end of your video Jake. Quick question for you, is that a spot you frequent?
: )Tyler
I just planted my Hass out in the backyard. I hope it works 🤗
Is it too late to plant one now?
+JH P I'm not sure, zero experience here. So far though the damp and cool Spring has been wonderful and the tree is showing new growth. San Diego is a very forgiving climate.
Always better to plant during cool months to establish the roots system before the heat arrives. In our desert, some trees and palms can be planted in summer. If you are planting an avocado, make sure if gets a lot of water and shade for the first couple of years. The avocado used in the video, is made to withstand our heat, but still needs care. Avocados are picky about their environment.
Have you guys gotten fruit of the trees?
i had a friend who’ll pick up a brush when he sees me painting the fence dig a hole water plants...friends that are spiritually connected
how does one get the Shamus mix. I need it for my pineapples too.
How to grow Avocado tree in Vancouver,B.C. Canada.Jake
I have an avocado plant I grew from a pit about a year old, and there are worms, that look prickly ( mabey legs?), not like standard worms...any idea what's up and/or how to treat it...
Who clicked on the this video hoping to see a giant avocado?
You smoking giant weeds?
I just wish you would have shown the bag, picture, and name of the fertilizer.
What zone are y'all planting in?
I have watched a number of these how to grow avocado videos but have yet to see any of the growers produce an avocado.
I'm dying to plant my avocado in the ground. I have the area that I want to plant but I need to get someone to plant it for me. I also have a lemon tree that I want to plant. Great video you's guys. Keep up the great work.
how is your tree doing? I just planted mine over a week ago
What state do you live in?
I had to top my avocado plant when it got over 3 feet. I read that it will grow to 90 feet. It has over taken my kitchen window. Every time I try moving it, it wilts and almost dies. I put it back in the kitchen window and he starts rocking again.
I love to watch the Video , but there are too much noise....
But I am Thankful !
I didnt know Avocadoplants where so fussy.... every year they sprout around my compost system.... if there is any chance that a pitt isnt burried to deep they come up.... they dont survive our german winter but they didnt seem fussy otherwise at all.....at least we have not much trouble with sunburning them :D
Is S. Dakota too far north for these trees?
when to plant avocado from water how old or big
i would like to buy some azomite but wanted shipped to Albania?
i heard the words volcano rocks or volcano soil. fortunately for us we don't have volcanos anywhere near Boston, so where can one get volcano rocks or soil?
look at that enormous size !
it's as big as 3 adults human
Can you guys do an update video of what happened to this avocado now?
can you guys do an update video of what happened to this avocado now? its been over 2 1/2 years since you guys posted this video and I'm just curious the status of this avocado tree now? I planted and Avocado and followed the advice on this video but my avocado died after a year.
Sure, just sign up for their $5 a month service, lol..
can you plant avocados indoor? it's freezing here in Canada! I've planted indoor..
thanks for the video :-)
Greenhouse.
Go ahead and plant it outside. Just make sure to put a warm jacket on the tree.
Why have you showed in other videos to plant below grade level for water maximization?
Which climate is the best to grow avocado? Because I m planing to growing avocado in Nepal (Taman Baglung Nepal) there is never snowing but quite night area, thanks lots
I am also curious from Eastern Nepal
Is there a way I can order soil?
I rooted 10 avocados four years ago and didn't really think much would happen and certainly didn't expect them all to root let alone thrive when I planted them. I planted them 5 at a time in two pots because we are military and I couldn't have 10 trees in pots growing and expect to be able to take them with me when we move.. I now have Two pots with a mass of avocado trees that are 7 ft tall. I now live in DC so they stay out all summer but I move them in in the winter. They are so big that now I have to make a decision on what to do with them. Can I leave them planted in a mass like I have them already and should I or should I say can I prune them back to encourage fuller trees . Final question since I anticipate a yes to the pruning when would be the best time to prune them back ? Now..or in the Fall just before I bring them in for the winter, or wait till spring. I am growing them for their beauty not necessarily for their fruit.
Hi j.mie. I don't know if you ever got an answer to your question. Prune lightly anytime of the year. Heavy pruning is better done in late winter. Just cut back top/side branches to the height and width you want. Your trees should be fine if they are getting good care. Another option for keeping them in the container size you desire, is called root pruning. This is a bit more work, but can be done by removing the tree, trimming the roots back and redressing the container with new potting soil. This can be done about every 2 or 3 years, depending on the roots vigor.
Brodie Thank you... no never got an answer but your answer has perfect timing :)
some people prune in the winter for something to do in the slow time of year. A fruit tree pruner told me prune your branches to hang low when they fruit for easier picking does that make sense.not sure if this good advice but i cross my branches to so if need be they can rest on the bigger branches, and you can twist tie them together for lateral strength . But thats probably just way over board.
Y
j. mie Unlisted, experience suggests to me to be careful about avocado roots, they don’t seem to like water stress. Other suggestions seem good.
What about existing trees already in grounds
Junior Escareno Top dressings, out past branch line U have dug holes and removed soil out and mixed up good stuff and back filled leave a bit lower as a watering hole, rain catch and when it rains it feeds soil. HAVE HUGE BUMPER CROP from a neglected apricot tree.
can i buy a tree like that
#wisegmobreeds srry forgot to leave trade mark
question: my avocado tree dropped all its leaves. First they turned brown, then they died and then fell off. This all happened when I turned on my sprinklers for the first time. My question is, was the sprinklers water contaminated?
When water is on leaves their "pores" close which can help keep them cool and/or the water droplets acted like magnifying glasses - either way, the sun burnt the leaves as a result.
Or simply use a cowdung fortified soil.
Mycelium he said. That’s growing 🍄
Good advice though I would have had that tree in the ground 12 months earlier.
why you don't transfer the tree I want to know how transfer the tree...I don't have any idea..
How long does it take an avocado tree to produce avocados
Depends on the age. If you get a good one from a nursery about 2-3 years.
Looks like a Mexican avocado with a new name, they grow wild in Mexico.
I live in England United Kingdom how do I grow a Avocado in England because it is cold out hear. I was fantastic to see how your Avocado grow.
The best way to grow an avocado in the UK would ideally be in a greenhouse that stays above 1 deg. Celsius in the winter. young avocados die somewhere around 0 deg. Celsius and older established trees get damaged at that temp.
The second thing you'd try (but cannot guarantee) is planting on well draining soil along a south -facing wall --- never near or against a building. you'd have to protect the tree in the winter from the northern wind and keep it short and branching sideways to make it easy to protect.
Avocados need well draining soil but also a good amount of water in the summers and a lot of fertilizer. if the soil has bad drainage, you'll have to make a small hill to plant the tree.
hey, you never know what you can achieve until you try it!
Hazel Holman In pots and when it gets cold bring inside or to green house.
Yes on the potting or greenhouse; but please realise that if you get a lot of cloudy days or not much sun, you may not get much -- if any -- fruit.
I live at the north pole. Can I plant an avocado tree?
I live in the UK and my little Avacado plant is doing very well, been about 3 yrs and in a pot and always stays out. It’s seen through frosty day and rain. Can’t complain as it is spring now and it’s throwing out lush leaves.. what joy!!
when will a abocado tree bear fruits?
Depends: are you growing from a grafted tree or from seed? Chill hours, sun exposure and tree health probably play a role, too. I was reading that grafted trees will produce fruit before one grown from seed.
One day the supermarket had a sale on avocados so I bought a whole bunch of them I enjoyed them immensely decided I would through the seeds into my compost area I didn't know how it would land I didn't concern myself with it at all because all I was doing was throwing seeds in that area and piling grass and leaves on them, perhaps a month later I see five avocado trees/plants growing out of my compost area immediately I transplanted them into the ground with lots of the compost, they grew fine but sad thing is that I tried to sell them bare root and that didn't work they died almost instantly I still have two left, that survived a major hurricane storm, winds blew it down almost killed it I ended up having to cut it about 4 inch from from the ground and then the following season it grew out from the side and now I have 7 ft trees again
Do you have fruit?
"You gotta see the size of this guy!". ...I'd love to.
I have planted two avocadoes in my backyard in the one space where there would be room for it to grow. They did well for about two years and then I got some heavy rain. Once every two years, I will have about a quarter inch of standing water in the backyard for a day or two. That is all it takes to drown my avocado trees. :- (
Yeah, they don't like wet feet.... = (
Jake, do you compost your own poop?
You can only use human poop in compost if you are vegan
Worm castings are cheap, if you have your own worm bins.
You should have shown how big that hole really should have been. About three times as wide and deep might have been big enough. "For a $1 tree, dig a $10 hole" is an old saying. I'm guessing that tree would have sold for $50-$100 or more.
Its homelander
In my country the Philippines.we just put avocado seeds on top of the soil and now we have lots and lots of beautiful avocados. We don't need a friend asking too many questions and talking nonstop just to plant a single Avocado tree.
You should plant a tree the same size from the same graft next to it without any of the extra stuff which you add to see if it actually makes any difference...it's seems that you are over complicating a natural process...
Maybe YOU should
He looks like aquaman lol
Hi, thanks for the video, but too much details and complicated mixture...

so u problem already answered this but big debate on UTUB land on weather you eat an avocado seed and weather can break open stone fruit pits and eat seed like would walnut. some say good for may have cancer fight stuff normally not get. other came lot bad posies stuff in it. like should not eat apple seed yet seen brother juice up apple steam and all. what you guys think. in past always through pit away or try grow bow staff out of it. On other had when young never ate avocados or kewees kinda learn curve on figure how eat some things. for people eat lot peaches, plumes and avocados it could be huge untaped food source or could trip hospital?
rodney adams Dried and peeled avacado seed ground is good for my salads and smoothies. Dried seed coating powders is good in vinegar as an astringent and antibacterial skin surface. Always check and double check facts as the whole material is balanced in nature and beneificial or not edible from plant to plant.
This is similar to the blue print method or the ellen g. white tree planting method. Get trees tongrow 7x better!
Jake runs a business. All businesses advertise... what's the problem?
