- Now for a extreme change of pace from my last video, from the pioneer of jet flight (Me-262 in previous upload) to a pioneer of fighter aircraft from WW1, the Aicro DH-2!
I go into the full back story on this model, but this was a extremely lucky second hand buy I picked up some years ago unflown. It sat idle in storage first in the UK, then for a few years over here in The Netherlands but finally, just over these past few weekend I'd got around to installing the electronics for flight (Turnigy G90 motor, Aerostar 80amp ESC, 6200mah 6S, 16x10 prop and standard servos) and maidened this unusual and striking bird just this past weekend.
A rather different airframe to fly, but enjoyable and charming non the less. Here is a quick walk through my history with the model and flight review having flown here 5 or 6 times now.
Enjoy and thanks for watching.
PS I may have to sell this model due to lack of space, so if you're in the neighborhood of The Netherlands, feel free to contact me about it. - Авто та транспорт
What a FANTASTIC model! All the wires and turnbuckles truly stand out.
Now you need to make a dummy Gnome rotary to mount on the motor so it spins with the prop.
Very neat looking plane and the detail is amazing.
It does look like a handful to fly through.
Thanks for the video.
What an amazing flight! Stewart and an amazing rebuilt. I can't believe I didn't get this on my upcoming videos of yours. My hats off to you. That thing flies. Pretty cool and has a presence in the sky. Take care
Man Stu hate to hear about your Pup! That is a beauty. The DH-2 is an interesting subject, very nice flying example you've got there. I like the demands of good fundamentals required with most WWI planes. One of my favorite genres. Great flying man.
Dude , that's a lot of wires 😁 looks great and flies just as well... Congrats.
A WW1 favorite of mine. Thanks for sharing.
What a fantastic looking bird Stuart. Second landing was butter. Great stuff 🫡
Sounds really good at about 1/2 throttle & you fly it very well.
thanks for sharing; very nice !
Beautiful model, awesome flying.
That's a gorgeous ww1 fighter. Love it!
Awesome 👍👍👍
WW1 has some great planes for that period. Very nice model and video! If you sale let me know.
What a fantastic looking model Stuart so detailed and and scale . Not for a beginner pilot for sure . Keep up the good work
That stall certainly came on very suddenly, looks like it could be a handful to fly.
Great job
very nice S!, now..do it FPV! would be a great ship for it!
Now that would be nice, if only I had a HD set.
Lovely model and clearly a little challenging to fly. I love IC but in this instance electric makes a lot of sense with all that woodwork and rigging near the prop! Sorry to hear your DB Pup crashed when trying a loop. You may recall from comments on that video that I have the same model (also Laser-powered). I have not looped mine so would be grateful to know what went wrong. Love your vids!
Hello, thanks yes electric was just the right choice. With everything else going on with this model the last thing I wanted to worry about was a dead stick in flight! I think one of the flying wires/braces let go in flight, I think it was the ratchet system they use. One was not working quite as it should before the flight (seemed jammed) and as these wires are functional, that's my suspicion. I've looped the model many times before, so it should not have been a problem.
@@stuartwarnerc Thanks, Stuart. Yes, that would make sense. Hope you get it flying again soon, it's a lovely model.
Wait, these are fighter aircraft. They are made to do aerobatics, lol! I would think a loop would be child's play.
Ahh lovely model. Shame about the pup. My great grandfather is on the log book for the Pup in middle wallop museum of army flying. He was a flying instructor for first world war pilots.
Wow, that's some very neat family history.
Fantastic detail, and very well flown. A lot of us enjoy your product review videos. You have the power to reach RC enthusiast like myself, and with that being said, let's address the elephant in the room.......remote ID. We have a lot of questions to ask like where in the model would we install one, will they interfere with signal to our receivers, CG, ect.
Great airplane, Stuart. Will you eventually put the 2-stroke engine back in?
Hi, no I have zero intention of doing that, it would just add another thing to worry about.
@@stuartwarnerc ok, thanks.
Superb Stuart, i notice quite a bit of upthrust (or is it downthrust on a pusher), what does the plan suggest? I'm asking because I'm building a smaller Mike Roach designed dh2 and is no up or down thrust shown 🤔
Hi Cliff, according to the plan 3degree up and zero side. Hope this helps.
@@stuartwarnerc Thanks Stuart 👍
