You're right, guys, this is definitely hypnotizing. I love this song and it is hard to believe that it is from 1967! The Doors are brilliant and it's so good that they managed to create this sound, fantastic. Thanks so much for your reaction, guys, really enjoyed it.
The bass lines were created by Ray using a Fender Rhodes Piano Bass and the melody with a Vox Continental and this is what you would hear when they were live....however, when they recorded the album, Larry Knechtel ('The Wrecking Crew' and later 'Bread') played a Fender Precision Bass to overdub Ray's bass line to give it more prominence.
Funny Fact: I had a liver transplant caused by a blood disorder similar to sickle cell. My Hematologist (blood doctor) was a student at USC in the 1960’s and a roommate of one of the Doors (either Robbie or John). As he told me, 4 of them went on a road trip to central California in a 2 seat Porsche so it was crowded. Somewhere on the road, in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the night, they stopped at a convenience store which also had live bait. Three of them bought soft drinks and snacks. Jim Morrison bought live crickets 🦗 in a matchbox type container. The four get back in the car and the crickets get loose in the crowded car!! They pulled over in the middle of nowhere to look for these crickets! Well, they found a few but then, Morrison was missing!! 😂😂😂 True story, according to my Doctor.
I haven't stopped loving their music in 50 years. You two are so fun to watch - you have such different a way to express how in to the much you are into it!
so pleasing to see you 'get it'. you are experiencing the fact that during this era, bands never sounded like another - each created new aural worlds...'the doors' world is very unique...
A lot of the Bands like the beach boys & mamas & Papas, Birds, etc...couldn't play their instruments, used a Studio Band called The Wrecking Crew. Watch the movie on you tube called the Wrecking Crew.
You guys are adorable!! Sooo enjoyable to watch, love your channel and love your reactions!! Doors are incredible, so many great songs, Patrick and George you Rock!! 🤘✌️😊
Fantastic tune! Check out The Doors performing this on The Ed Sullivan Show. Jim had promised Ed and the censors that he wouldn't sing the line "Girl We Couldn't Get Much Higher", but ofcourse he sang it. The Doors were never invited back, but that was quite alright by them. Just really cool footage. Next? "Love Her Madly".
@@sharonpate5481 I think in the movie it was emphasized, but the actual irl performance he just sang as usual 😊. ua-cam.com/video/zvTej0Kxpzk/v-deo.html But Love Her Madly is my favourite❤️
And the message was conveyed to them that Ed Sullivan was furious and said they would never be on "The Ed Sullivan Show" again, to which Jim Morrison responded, " ‘Hey, that’s okay - we just did the Ed Sullivan show."
@@jemxs I saw him on the Ed Sullivan Show and Jim looked straight through that lens and made a point of say “higher”. The Sullivan show gave them some flack, but hey, they’d already done Sullivan live. They were on to better things ☮️♥️🤘🏽👵🏼
Love your channel guys! I share it with my buddies. We’re all up there in years, so we get a kick out of watching your reactions. Love your Zeppelin reactions especially! Cheers ✌️❤️🇨🇦
Great music. Way before MTV. It was hard to get the full version played on most radio stations. If you want to go on a journey, listen to In-A-Gadda -Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly.
Back in the day, when this first came out, everyone could get much higher. This song takes me right back, the smoky pub, the gin and the beer, people swaying in many directions. What days they were.
Jose Feliciano did a beautiful Latin flavored cover of this back in the 60s that was a huge hit for him. Every bit as popular as this version at the time. Check it out.
You are discovering the beauty of the creative music from this era which has now ended. This song takes you an a beautiful journey and I'm glad that you appreciate this music and are keeping it alive.
Not true. They used a Bass Player in the studio. It never was a foot pedal. Ray played the bass lines with his left when they played live on a Rhodes Organ. Do your research before you write.
A small correction: "You said heaven from 4 instruments" its only 3. Ray Manzarek is playing the bass parts on the keyboard with his left hand, while he plays the melody with his right hand.
Not to nitpick, but: Manzarek is actually playing two separate instruments, a Fender Rhodes Bass on his left, and whichever model organ he was playing on his right. Add guitar and a drumset and you've indeed got four instruments.
Oh, and Martin Taylor said below that Wrecking Crew studio bassist Larry Knechtel overdubbed his bass part for the recording of the album. (Larry replaces Ray's bass part, maintaining still 4 instruments.) He also says that the organ is a Vox Continental.
The guy on the right in the white t-shirt is just like me when I listen to music. He really immerses himself into music. The facial expressions, air drumming with the hands and the closing of his eyes.
In the bridge from their song LA Woman Morrison repeats the phrase "Mr. Mojo Risin'," which is an anagram of his name "Jim Morrison" ♥️🔥🔥🔥♥️ The mastery of Ray Manzarek on keys 🎹
Here's a psychedelic epic from 1969 for you - "Who Do You Love" by Quicksilver Messenger Service (recorded live at the Fillmore) - 25 minutes of great stuff with John Cipollina and Gary Duncan twin lead guitars and an incredible bass solo by David Freiberg: ua-cam.com/video/PDIkBtKOq1I/v-deo.html
Hi guys…..Helene here. Since you both seem to like psychedelic rock so much….you need to react to the granddaddy of all psychedelia…..In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida by the band Iron Butterfly. Back in 1968, BEFORE Meddle by Floyd,, psychedelia was mainly, at least for my crowd, The Doors, Hendrix, Country Joe and the Fish, The Moody Blues, allot of The Beatles music AND In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida. It’s long, but not quite as long as the live Dazed and Confused…..and believe me, it is a TRIP. George…it will most definitely “blow your mind”. 😜
LMAO!!!!! Hahahaha......lol.....hahahaaha....and you wonder why people love "The Doors" Just listen this song and they have a way that trips you out into another dimension!!! Wow!!! Watching you guys reaction was Priceless!!! George's eyes were still closed 3 minutes after the song stopped!!!! Hahaahaha.....lol....hahaaha....and watching Patrick fall in Love with The Doors was Classic!!!! And Patrick has an AMAZING voice!!! He should be singing in a Rock band or Jazz Band!!!! Love to hear him in a group!!!
Ray Manzarek, good GAWD LORD ALMIGHTY!!! I honestly think his body of work actually puts him at the summit of Mount Olympus upon the Throne of the golden age of synth/organists... I am going to steer the ship out of the mainstream, maybe next Doors reaction should be "The Crystal Ship"...
You should listen to The End by them. If you have ever seen the film Apocalypse Now it was used at the beginning during the opening scene with the helicopters.
LOVE your reactions because you so obviously deeply appreciate good music! It’s fun to watch you loving the songs I grew up with. I saw the doors live back then it was incredible! Somebody mentioned In A Gadda Da Vida by iron butterfly. The long version of course! It’s 17 minutes. PLEASE consider doing that. You will be completely blown away!!!!!!!! Thank you! You guys are awesome!!!
The Doors with my favorite song "Light My Fire"! Incredible instrumental solo (organ and guitar)! Nice reaction! And i know, you both love oldschool music, so please check out "Paolo Nutini - Iron Sky [Abbey Road Live Session]" I want to see your reaction of this song. Can you do me this one favor?@
Ray Manzarek’s keyboard work was breakthrough greatness. Guitarist Robby Krieger wrote this song when he was 19.
the DOORS produce a vibe that is unmatched by any other band....a mood only they can set.....
Yeeeeees!!!!!!!
The 60's,followed by the 70's guys.
Sorry you missed the party.
It was fucking great.
1967 boys and it sounds like it could have been recorded yesterday
Jim vocally was a natural Baritone. By yeah, he could hit those high notes too.
Doors music doesn't age, fresh today as in 1967
The "Lizard King" lives on as long as people keep playing his music. I love your reactions, keep on Rocking.🎶🎵🎶🎵
I am a baby boomer and so grateful we made great music to pass on to the younger generations. This song was really big back in the day.(1967)
When I was on active duty in the US Navy in Washington DC in 1968-69, Admiral Morrison, Jim Morrison's father, was my commanding officer!
You're right, guys, this is definitely hypnotizing. I love this song and it is hard to believe that it is from 1967! The Doors are brilliant and it's so good that they managed to create this sound, fantastic. Thanks so much for your reaction, guys, really enjoyed it.
I'm 67 and still listening right from the beginning.

Another genius artist destined to remain forever young.
I haven't stopped loving their music in 50 years. You two are so fun to watch - you have such different a way to express how in to the much you are into it!

RIP Jim Morrison. ❤🕊🙏
To the organ player Ray Manzarek, I love you and always will❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Well look what I found the Doors!!!!! Yeeeeees!!!!!!
The first album I purchased as a 9 yr. old boy ...still enjoying them 50+ yrs. later, thanx for sharing.
Love Her Madly, Love me Two Times, and Break on Through are 3 more amazing Doors songs :) They're my favorite band by far
Robbie wrote Love her Madly & Love me 2 times.
Jazz meets rock n' roll
You got lost in the sause bros.. lol love love the Doors! Watch Jim sing this live! 😍
Doors aren’t the favorite band but they have that thing that brings me to some upside down world more than other bands.
Pink Floyd will do that to you too!
LA. Woman and Love Her Madly two more great songs!
Hi there, they've already reacted to LA Woman - hope you can find it. Cheers.
Organ brings all of us back to the late 60s and early 70s. What a vibe that organ gives.
Great music. Way before MTV. It was hard to get the full version played on most radio stations.
If you want to go on a journey, listen to In-A-Gadda -Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly.
Live version
Back in the day, when this first came out, everyone could get much higher. This song takes me right back, the smoky pub, the gin and the beer, people swaying in many directions. What days they were.
Classic!!!
Jim Morrison famously said “I don’t sing, I scream”
Robbie's guitar work reminds me of surf guitarist Dick Dale who used middle eastern scales.
Jose Feliciano did a beautiful Latin flavored cover of this back in the 60s that was a huge hit for him. Every bit as popular as this version at the time. Check it out.
I saw Jose Feliciano in Seattle 1968. Just wonderous. So creative with voice matching guitar work. Love Jose Feliciano.
I’m boutta hear this lol
I can still hear my Dad yell from my parent's bedroom: "Carla, turn the radio up!"
thank you!
I'M 65 old man , i return in my 20 years period in one seconde and i live there again for 7 :15 minutes ,thanks , DOORS for always

Bass line provided by Ray Manzarak, keyboard player, with a foot pedal on the organ. The Doors had no bass player, except occasionally, in the studio.
Really! I didn’t know that, it makes that fabulous keyboard playing even more impressive!
In the studio they also had a actual bass player following Ray
The guy on the right in the white t-shirt is just like me when I listen to music. He really immerses himself into music. The facial expressions, air drumming with the hands and the closing of his eyes.
Top 10 song of all time in rock/pop history.
Doors are good....😘😎☮️🇺🇸♥️
