Watching your reaction helps me enjoy the song even more
The End... When the Musics Over... The Soft Parade... Roadhouse Blues... Waiting For the Sun... Gloria (Dirty Version)... Wild Child................ There are so many MYSTICAL and PSYCHEDELIC songs by THE DOORS!
the doors create magical connection with the rain and ambience.
In 1971 I was 10years old, I was listening to my old valve radio in bed one night, when I heard the sounds of waves crashing, thunder rolling, the tinkling of a Piano, when a Man's voice said "Riders on the Storm".
The 10-year-old me thought OMG!!! WTF is that??
It turned out to be a song that remains in my Top 5 or 10 to this day, depends on my mood.
great analytical reaction guys, you should do "Roadhouse Blues" of course and you might wanna do "L.A. Woman" for starters
Yes Yes Yes! My 2 favorite Doors songs!
The End is the masterpiece!
This is the last song Jim Morrison ever recorded. He died a few weeks later. He was 27 years old.
I suggest Waiting For The Sun for your next one -but there are many others I enjoy too --To answer your question I first heard this in 1971 when I was a sophomore in High School - back in the day hitchhiking was very prevalent and it woke me up to how danger could befall you unknowingly- made me think twice before trusting a random stranger
This is my absolute favorite Doors song. I Love the organ solo. The Doors are in my top 10 list maybe top 5 groups of all-time.
Riders on the Storm is so beautiful that even my easy piano cover sounds good!! 💥🎹
Guys, I would recommend LA Woman...pure magic.
The 'Mad Scientist' Ray Manzarek making it rain into your ear and soul with his organ.
My favorite song by my favorite band.
you said it, this song just puts you in a thinking pull you can’t help
Grandiosa....la mia preferita
Every heartbreak makes you stronger..
You are listening to one of the great performances from a fantastic musical instrument to come out of USA - the Rhodes Electric Piano
Night cruising song for me! But, it's so cool 😎 of a song 🎵 that it will lower room temperature 🌡 of any room any time any place. Great review 👏
The guy playing the "bass" and the keyboard(s) was Ray Manzarek AND he played "them" at the same time, in every song! They had no bassist.
I think a bass player/session musician named Jerry Scheff played bass on the LA Woman album.
Back when they were unknowns they had a bass player named Patty Sullivan. She was dismissed when Ray realized he could be BOTH the keyboardist and bassist.
@@kryer981 I believe that she was one of four studio bassists that they used but, she was married and wanted kids, therefore she was unavailable for touring any way.
The album LA Woman , the used Elvis's bass player . He chose cash instead of ,"points" a percent of the gross profits. Financial mistake , maybe.. I may be wrong in all of this but my LA connections say so . ?
@@eugenestandingbear6516 You are not incorrect. . . . . pretty much everybody used session musicians occasionally for recordings. I was referring to the live performances.
Life is meaningless and random - a serial killer could snuff you out in a random horror - and only the love of a woman (or someone, anyway) gives it any meaning . Deep lyrics, and what a funky, magical contribution from Manzarek
Just an interesting tidbit. Ray Manzarek, the keyboard player, used to also play the bass part simultaneously with foot pedals! The Doors didn't have a bass player! he was a musical genius.
No, he didn't. It was Jerry Scheff who came up with the bass line after Ray gave him a few chords of what he had in mind. Many of the bass players hired by the Doors were not credited at all.
@@martintayler23 Careful with the blanket statements. Yes he did. I can show you many concert videos of him doing just that. I can also send you an interview where Manzarek is asked "Who plays the bass line in your band?" and demonstrates live. Your argument is that they occasionally hired session bass players that didn't get credited. OK fine. My statement is true, yours is not. The Doors had no bass player in their lineup. 4 members. Vocals, guitar, keyboards and drums. Period. The Rolling Stones also worked with many session musicians. Did that make them members of the band? No. Just contributors. "The Doors lacked a bass guitarist (except during recording sessions), so for live performances Manzarek played the bass parts on a Fender Rhodes piano keyboard bass." - Wikipedia
@@delphi-moochymaker62 Wouldn't trust Wikipedia for facts. Ray may have played the bass lines on the Fender in concert but on LA Woman it was definitely Scheff.
@@martintayler23 The Doors used several bass players on their studio albums. Jerry Scheff on this track...Doug Lubahn on their early albums, Leroy Vinnegar on Morrison Hotel. Yes, Ray used the keyboard bass for live gigs but rarely on record.
I recall the first time hearing RotS
It was in Phoenix AZ. It came on a
small transistor radio near the local liquor store.
We were outside and a wash of strangeness invaded me.
I was young but already a big Doors enthusiast.
Purdy sure it was after they had announced Morrison death days before.
Which also had strange affect on me.
Ya know the Doors then-- were a radio hit regulars
They were back. It took awhile to realized what was lost
Good reaction guys/ Enjoyed. .
Try the Crystal Ship
This song is very nostalgic
guys - i've seen A LOT of Riders On The Storm reactions...and yours is THE BEST! i'm new but you obviously appreciate not just good music - but great artistry! try "Roadhouse Blues" if you haven't done so yet!
That song with that weed and the rain is fucking awezome
This was my favorite song when it came out. I was 6 years old.
Love me two times . its great.
Five to One is another great Doors song 👍
The keyboardist is Ray Manzarek. He is commonly admitted to be one of the greats. Ray and Jim are the heart of the Doors.
When the music's over.(live)
Jim wrote this after a cross country trip from Florida to California and incorporated those memories into many of his tunes. Such delicate instrumental work
It’s a driving song, like LA Woman.
I remember in the late 60's the Doors were also popular because they were different than most rock, being more dark and poetic and Morrison was kinda unpredictable and intense. Fascinating to watch. Radio would always play this on rainy days. Thanks guys.
I think of "Whiskey Song" when I think of The Doors. It's my favorite song of theirs. I like this too but this and "Strange People". Literally from memory. And I grew up in the 80's-90's.
Once again, you got it. There is a video by the keyboard player, Ray Manzarek, on UA-cam, explaining and demonstrating how this masterpiece came about. Actually, there is a series on UA-cam, called Behind the Song, (I think) where artists give you the story behind the song. It is utterly fascinating for a music geek like me. You will be too, I guarantee it.
Indian summer one of my favorites from their golden catalog.
2005.....when I was 40...🤣
"Roadhouse Blues" and "The End" by The Doors. Excellent Songs!!!
@BroAction obrigado por trazer JIM ,obrigado por trazer DOORS!!! Tragam mais desta grande banda!!! Espero
Roadhouse Blues, Love Me Two Times, L.A. Woman, People Are Strange, . . . but FIRST: " in tha back of tha roadhouse we got some bungalows"
That’s the Bass Player from Elvis Presley’s Band.
True.
Jerry Scheff
Try playing this when driving in the car late at night with the rain coming down!!
Lyrical poetry. However I do understand that this song is based on a true life event about a hitchicker who killed a family that gave him a ride! The Doors is my favorite band of all times PERIOD!
You could hear take five from Dave Brubeck
Bro, you gotta drive, George always has his eyes closed, lol. I get it.
Get crazy with the Doors "Soft Parade"-use a video with lyrics or you will get lost.
You guys are open-minded, indeed, so I will dispense with recommending the obvious great hits by this cool band. Instead, I will take it a level higher and suggest "When The Music's' Over", featuring one of the greatest screams in rock history.
hell yea Need for Speed Underground 2 that brings back some memories
He caught him when he said Jim was spiritual.
And now LA woman ...please 😎
The snoop version was also in Pro evolution soccer, don't remember year, it is really really good, could never find it anywhere
First heard this song when I was in college and it was played many times as well as the album it was on. It is still a fabulous piece of music. Since you like Jim's baritone voice it is displayed on their song "Touch Me" see: ua-cam.com/video/EZaQyYgAGfQ/v-deo.html There is also a live version from 1968 which is interesting to see the band and heard Jim singing live, ua-cam.com/video/RrDsSPtZOu4/v-deo.html the audio quality is pretty good. Many other great Door's songs to react to as indicated below.
Watch The Doors movie. It’ll explain a lot. Lead singer, Jim Morrison, was a fan of Frank Sinatra’s voice. The great keyboardist was Ray Manzarek- he played the bass line you hear with his left hand.
Great movie & Val Kilmer did an excellent job as Jim...
& I belive did most of the songs... pretty impressive ✌😎
The Movie was total BS. It portrayed Jim as a Drunk.
All the Band members hate it.
Do your research.
@@davidhirsch5705 do yours. I saw him perform drunk.
LA WOMAN is a must listen.
The Doors... Jim Morrison
( aka: The Lizard King )
Poet first then singer and during a show could blast off in any direction.... Ray,, Robbie & John did a amazing job staying with him so it looked like it was planed but trust me they we're just winging it most of the time !
I heard this beautiful piece of music in the early 70's as I was riding through the White mountains of N.H during a thunderstorm how fitting....
Since then The Doors have been my favorite group, please check out.....
Moonlight Drive
L.A Woman
Touch Me
Light My Fire
Roadhouse Blues
When The Music's Over
Love Her Madly
Five To One
Well that will get you started....
enjoy the wild ride on the blue bus !
( Driver Mr. Mojo Risin ) 😎🎙
Thank you....
Jim Morrison ( The Lizard King )
Ray Manzarek ( Keyboards ) *
Robbie Krieger ( Guitar )
John Dinsmore ( Drums )
Ray was the back beat of the band & came up with those amazing intros on Riders & Light My Fire ☺🎹
You are high bro!
Cool video guys. I'd recommend the song called 'Wishful Sinful' from the album called The Soft Parade by The Doors.
New subscriber, watching stuff in no particular order. You are brothers? What is your ages?
"Apocalypse now" is the movie
No. The End was used in "Apocalypse now"
@@davidhirsch5705 too
Jim Morrison was a poet first.
Jim Morrison was a poet. He spoke about all of the things your not suppose to speak of, the darker side of human nature and man. You either love Jim or hate him there is no middle.
Please react to a great female band Heart start with Magic Man.
At the end, you said, “I feel like I'm high”. Suggestion…get high and listen again!
Please do when the music's over
The keyboardist - I can't think of his name right now - once mentioned in an interview that the Sorg was fixed and ready, but it seemed boring and tired to the band members. They puzzled around what they could improve. Someone had the idea - let it rain and maybe thunder...? No sooner said than done - they recorded the appropriate samples and mixed them into the song.
That's how the famous sound of Riders on the Storm was born.
Read some of Jim's poetry. You will see just how dark he could be.
Did Ray play the bass pedals?
No, when they played on Live, he played the bass parts a Rhodes Organ with his Left Hand. Amazing talent.
They used a Bass player in the studio on the albums.
Please sirs can you react to The Smiths - There is The Light That Never Goes Out
You have to remember the amount of hard drugs people ingested in this time period. It was also considered era of "free love" so there is that too.
LA Women
The End
This song is about his life experience! He was an Army brat father was an officer and he never stayed in one place or base to make friends and love. The rider on the storm base on incident while his family traveled from one base to another as they stop to eat and get gas in an desolate gas station, the store owner warned them to be careful there’s a killer on the road and already killed some travelers when he was ten years old, he enjoyed imaginary horrors and death do his boredom. Later he was a philosophy major in college. chance meeting with Manzarek one of band pianist he was trying to start a band! Since he’s a philosopher he read poems he wrote. Mazarek loved his writings and made him lead singer of the band Doors, ironically he never learned to sing or sang before or taken classes. It didn’t bothered the band that he can’t sing but he can carry a tune. So Mazarek wrote the music to follow Jim Morrison writings and voice . Jim Morrison was insecure about his singing. You call tell by his earlier songs. One day a friend offered drugs and history was made... RIP JIM YOUR A LEGEND!!!
This song is about him faking his death and leaving everything behind. He may still be alive.
What a load of crap.
Hey, Guys', Hint, hint, nudge, nudge: Who is Jim Morrison's Father...?
Okay you who is Jim Morrison's father. Pappas Morrison. Jk
Twenty - seven
Just a cute little, mid 60s number. Take it away......
Whoever made the original video for this messed up the lyric transcription very badly!
Hey guys You must react to bee Gees : jive takin, to love somebody and You should be dancing
There is way too much treble in your microphones btw.
You ruin it when you pause it.
This is the only Doors song I never liked.
I know a lot of band wagon haters out there will strongly disagree with my comment, but creeds cover of riders of storm is way better than the original. Way more feeling, and a heavier version brought so much depth to the song.
Need fbi plz help
Great song but not necessarily representative of the Doors catalog. Morrison was the epitome of “live fast, die young”.
Holy Dislike
This is a kick back song. Back in the days we didn't concentrate so seriously on the lyrics as much as the feel of the music and the basic message. The Doors were in a time of LSD and coming out of the innocence of the previous decades. The keyboard player was the great Ray Manzerak. Morrison was a force.
exactly! for me it was always about the feel of the music. Lyrics are great and have different meaning for everyone , but the vibe was most important for me.
The End, break on through, light my fire, hello I love you, people are strange, L A woman
Jim Morrison wrote this song while sitting on the beach in Florida at Pat’s Air Force Base. He was watching the surfers ride the waves that were preceding a tropical storm. He was brilliant. ✌🏻❤️
L.A Woman next please!
When the music's over.
🤩ohhhhh one of my old time favorites! 🎵💖🥰
John Densmore is one of the most underrated drummers of all time. He was lead snare at UCLA and Lead snare in The All City All-Star Band in The Rose Parade. He is sooo damn imaginative in his drumming. There is no other drummer who could have fit this band like John. Ringo, Doane Perry, and Densmore are my biggest influences. But if I had to pick one. John is my boy.
ever notice the whisper track in one ear throughout, saying the lyrics? Jim was film student, wrote short film called The Hitch-hiker, lyrics of Riders loosely based on that script
Oh Yeah!
The film was HWY
This may be the greatest goodbye song of any original band lineup. It's like Morrison is turning into a ghost before our eyes. The "killer" part refers to the film he was making called "HWY" which was never finished and truthfully didn't have much of a plot. Ray's organ playing is just spectacular here, providing the perfect atmosphere. The original mix had the storm sound effects higher and the fade out rain is longer. For some reason they changed it when the album was re-released.
Ray Manzarek truly shined in this song. I think it was a synthesizer he played.
"Soft Parade" doesn't get enough mention or credit. Must listen🎸🎵🎧
Listen when the music is over, pure jim morisson
peak doors
I suggest you listen to... all 6 of their albums.
The Doors - no one else like them.
The movie The Hitcher was inspired by this.
