Pathfinder: WOTR is an isometric single-player role-playing story game currently in development by Russian studio Owlcat Games and published by Deep Silver, based on Paizo Publishing's Pathfinder franchise. Announced through a Kickstarter campaign in February 2020, the game will be released for PC, Microsoft Windows, and macOS on September 4, 2021. A console version for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series X Gameplay, PS5, PS5 Gameplay, Playstation 5, Playstation 5 Gameplay, will be released at a later date. The game is a sequel to Pathfinder: Kingmaker.

In WOTR the realm of Sarkoris was destroyed when Areelu Vorlesh opened a rift to the abyssal planes of existence, and hordes of demons invaded the world of Golarion. Led by the evil Demon Lords Deskari, Baphomet, and Nocticula, the abyssal forces crushed all who stood against them, turning Sarkoris into a demon‑infested land now known as the Worldwound. Pathfinder has dozens of classes and subclasses with thousands of abilities, feats, spells, talents, and buffs to choose from. The spell listing allows you to choose from Evocation (Damage Dealing), Enchantment (Crowd Control), Necromancy (Undead), Abjuration (Buffs), Illusion (Crowd Control), Divination (Buffs/Disruptor), and Conjuration (Summoning). This is combined with an insane amount of class/subclass options including Alchemist, Arcanist, Barbarian, Bard, Bloodrager, Cavalier, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Hunter, Inquisitor, Kineticist, Magus, Monk, Oracle, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Shaman, Skald, Slayer, Sorcerer, Warpriest, Witch, and Wizard! It is Owlcat's goal to give each of these classes at least 5 subclasses each!
Choose your Mythic Path and embody an Angel, Demon, merciless Lich, wily Trickster, superhero Azata, law incarnate Aeon, truly evil Swarm, merciful Gold Dragon, or forgo all of them to stand alone as a Legend. Each path will allow you to improve your hero in unique ways, adding a new layer to character development and making your hero and their allies a true match for their powerful enemies.
You will command the Fifth Crusade and govern the Crusade system. Lead your crusade during tactical combat battles in a turn based mode inspired by the Heroes of Might and Magic series. You will command armies, grant them powerful bonuses, and deploy rituals to succeed. As your generals levels up they will gain access to new buffs, spells, feats, talents, and abilities. Your chosen Mythic Path will also open up new options such as calling angels to your side and using zombies to attack your foes. Your units and how they gain power will also be guided by the decisions you make. From ruthless Hell Knights to benevolent priests you have a wide array of allies who will answer the call for battle.
There are more than a dozen potential party members in the game including Camellia (Half-Elf/Spirit Hunter), Seelah (Human/Paladin), Lann (Mongrel/Zen Archer), Ember (Elf/Stigmatized Witch), Arueshalae (Succubus/Espionage Expert), Woljif (Tiefling/Eldritch Scoundrel), Daeran (Aasimar/Oracle), Sosiel (Human/Cleric), Regil (Gnome/Hellknight), Wenduag (Mongrel/Fighter), Nenio (Kitsune/Scroll Savant), Greybor (Dwarf/Slayer). All of these companions have their own backgrounds, alignments, and motivations. All of them are fully voice acted with unique character models. There are even more followers that are locked behind specific story/mythic quest options!

Imagine this: lorewise it took extreme efforts to take drezen in chapter 2 and by the end of chapter 3 situation is like this:
- drezen rebuilt,fortified
- your army is well armed,well armoured,well trained and is really huge in numbers
- trained generals,who can one-shot any demon army
- completely cleared map,demons have to hide in Iz in fear
- allies from anothers PLANES not just other kingdoms
and just like this,6 month later,Galfrey loses ALL of this,basically nullifying the crusade
By the way,if you play as a demon,there's a dialogue with hepzamirah,where she tells you that Galfrey goes to Iz every crusade.Every crusade the same suicidal move which every time costs the crusaders,well,the crusade,basically.Have you ever wondered why is it called the FIFTH crusade?That's why

That's interesting. I remember someone in the Act 3 also hinting on that in a dialogue)
First time play, i feel so disappointes when Galfrey strip our Ranks after i Kick all those Demons back to Iz..
I have reclaimed most lands, in the end this Queen strip and exile us to demons realm (to make sure we died)
when i return, Drezen have been breached, destroyed.
I feel this queen is so incimpetent but somehow People still support her
Where else is she supposed to go to win the war? It is like berating real crusaders for trying to capture Jerusalem
1:45 "Not badly enough to be called a disaster -" What the hell is she talking about? All of my armies are either disbanded or lost, my top tier generals are apparently off on vacation and need 5 days to return to active duty and she's managed to get herself and her bodyguard trapped behind enemy lines. All because she decided to pull a Staunton and take the Sword of Valour on a zergrush towards the exact same location she's gone in every previous crusade, leaving Drezen defenseless. If that doesn't qualify as a disaster in her eyes, I don't want to know what does.

In fact, I think there is something else besides the queen's fear and jealousy. The queen sends you to the world wound not only based on emotion but also political measure. Galfery lives as a symbol of a crusade, she also conducts five crusades. However, while she failed all five crusades, there suddenly emerge a person that take back Drezen in only a few months. Most importantly, that person has a strange power who can be considered as the chosen of Iomedae. MC cleared the demons in the world wound, the surrounding areas have cleared from the demon threat. When the shot peace comes, the problem emerges. Queen Galfery is not only a crusader queen but also a politician. Because you have both the control of an army and the strange power, basically you have the ability to threaten her rule. You are now a symbol of the crusade while you have the army that can overthrow her. People will gather under your banner if you manipulate them correctly. Queen Galfery basically sees you as a threat at the end of chapter 3. (In my current lich playthrough, I am struggling with my choice. If I kill her, all her predictions of me for becoming the enemy of humanity will be true. If I am not, she is the believer of Iomadae, she would interrupt every step I take. DAMN YOU GALFERY! But I am going to kill you no matter what! This is my crusade now! Not yours anymore!)
Killing Galfrey as a Lich is very satisfying.
Regill, the GOAT gnome. He deserved to be lawful neutral, I see no evil in him xD he's just Hulrun, but fun
No one wants to admit that evil is attractive, and don't see it in people they like, and least of all see it in themselves. But everyone should see evil when they look in the mirror, if they're being totally honest with themselves.

If she _could_ lead a successful crusade, one would assume that she _would_ have during her long life. Nothing good comes of a leader putting their ego or personal ambitions ahead of the well being of those they lead or the goals they've been entrusted with. I'd likely have been more scathing than Regill in the situation, not something I can often claim.
Yeah it's hard to say her reign has been successful.
Queen Galfrey is an inspirer, a good fighter and a driven leader. however she has the military acumen of a gnat, idealistic to a fault, and stubbornly committed to form over substance. these latter characterizations overshadow the former in making her a repeat unmitigated disaster for 5 consecutive crusades with the 5th crusade only being salvaged singlehandedly by the awesome power of the commander. what's more the fact they still see fit to provide her with sun orchid elixir's in spite of these losses shows me that those supporting her reign are just as incompetent at best or war profiteers at worst. stack this up against the lawful, tactical and methodical devil commander and the contrast couldn't be more stark.
Yup I think this pretty much sums it up.
why would you even accept the apology? She acts like this is a minor personal thing like "oops I broke your favorite vase please forgive me!" But it isn't about me or her it's the fact that she risked everything in a stupid move that had I not shown up would have cost the most successful crusade to date just to prove her own ego! An apology doesn't fix the armies crushed and lives lost under her idiotic rule. This isn't the kind of issue that being sorry about will fix, its the kind you get severely punished for, stripped of all title and rank, and held accountable for the rest of your life. I'm not the one who she should be apologizing too. It's the families and lives she destroyed by trying to stroke her own ego.
Yeah I am wondering if when Aeon confronts her there is a judgement.

Maybe you wouldnt have been needed to begin with as the crusades could have been won if they crowned the throne itself.. or a brick instead of Galrfey... And not only they made Lady incompetence a queen and a symbol they paid insane sums of gold for magic elixirs to keep her alive longer to hinder the crusades more.
I think this sums up a lot of what Regill is probably feeling. LOL
at this point it feels like a conspiracy or a trick being played by the gods.
why decide to keep the crusades for this long? xD

The time I felt like playing the Demon path - succumbing to rage. I've cleared the Act 3 map with zero losses, maxed up all the stats and raised two 11-12 lvl generals who one-shot most of the enemies... for her to show up and lead them on a suicidal attack! This mad grandma is lucky that snapping her in two seemed out of character for my goody-Azata playthrough))

Same bro... In my Azata Path, i lost all my hellknight and archer army...
I played demon(C-N) and arrived too late to save her, thanks for showing and yes I always felt she is extremely incompetent borderline criminal. I mean she just had to stay in Drezen with the banner and everything would have been fine. But no, she took the army and the banner so Drezen would be lost, the army would be destroyed and her needing some saving. And I am the "Demon" for saving the crusade and but failing to save her?
LOL Yeah I am looking forward to doing this as Demon.
Saving her is worth it.
Then you can have the satisfaction of killing her yourself in Drezen.
i still have not gotten around to finishing this game yet. Is there a way to become king.
My Lich is becoming the tyrant ruler of all he sees. Does that count? If not then no, even romancing Galfrey doesn't make you king.
On the legend path I'm pretty sure you can declare yourself as an independent crusader state
I am plailyng true angel. And I really feel anger why Galfrey decided to take the Wardstone and depart from drezen. When I meet her - I am not sure I can forgive this move
She does a lot of questionable things in the game. LOL My Angel will be kind to her.
Mostly I've been kind since I've played mostly good guys. But in my Lich playthrough I let her die then raised her as an undead in my service.
I accepted the apology in my playthrough simply because I found that the option that denounces her to be far too emotional, something she could easily dismiss. I wanted a more cold and merciless reprimand, one that would give her pause. Perhaps something like an expression of disappointment. Alas, there wasn't one here, so I just contented myself with roleplaying the "apology accepted" as "my character feels obligated to apologize in order to prevent further dissent and chaos within the crusade but is most certainly _not_ genuinely forgiving the Queen."
It kinda makes sense for her not to trust a devil, but she did my chaotic good trickster dirty. such is the struggle for power though

ah yes the queen of incompetence that manage to wipe out the army i took a year and half to make ( more than 6k troupes spread out in 4 division ) in only 6 months... well done your majesty you bear your name well 😂 . but more seriouslyshe should be charge and trial for criminals incompetence

Honestly if I didn't suck at keyboard and mouse (Joystick is SO much easier for me) I would probably break and buy this on PC.
Then again, my luck I might not even have the option to run it... So... 3 more months. Hey, maybe if I borrow whatever hourglass she's using...

The problem I have with these games is that it's something of a point and click game. In 3rd person games you dodge, attack, do all the stuff on your own. I enjoy that more than what you get in games like this. It isn't to say it's a bad style, it's just if you go this way, you'd better have a really engaging style or else it'll get boring fast.
@vez nan Yeah, it's diffenantly easier in Kingmaker. It's also slower, and a little less fun. I know they trying to keep with the old Diablo style of game, but I think it would be better as a fully voiced 3rd person. OfCourse, it takes more time and money to do that. But even Final Fantasy moved away from its former turn-based game play. I think if it did what Final Fantasy did it could keep the spirit of the old gameplay while being more modern. It also makes the player feel more important.
@@Ieatpaste23 what does Diablo have to do with PF ? Diablo is not a CRPG, it's an action game. Maaaybe the point of view looks the same (isometric vs 3d).
People these days. They think that because a game has character stats means it's a RPG.
That`s not an action game.. It`s a completely different genre. It also tries to stay true to the original tabletop with it`s mechanics.
This type of games are already rare as it is, we don`t need every single game to be the same barrel roll simulator.
@@TheGXDivider I think he meant that the game being top down instead of you taking full control of your character like in skyrim or similar rpgs.
His wish is understandable, but the game is great as it is now (for me at least).
