My buddy is in lenior city/loudon area... Im very avid I kill large/mature whitetails here in Northern michigan annually. Which is usually pretty difficult to do for most-- what do most avid locals consider an average "large/mature" buck to score in that area? As far as B&C score?
I think water sources are going to be key in the Midwest it’s going to be warm highs in the 70’s in Wisconsin this week. Them bucks are going to be thirsty. Good luck boys 🦌
Air temperature doesn’t play into water hole usage as much as you would think. Deer can acquire moisture from green forage if needed. It’s more the pure rutting and running activity that creates the need for thirst.
Our lowest predicted temps are above 43 degrees until at least November 20th in western Pa. I’m just gonna sit every chance I get and see what happens.
In the PNW peak rut is around Nov 18-25 for mountain whitetails in my area. First 2 weeks you see the little bucks running around with that funny feeling but the does aren’t in estrus yet. Previous experiences is when it’s cold around the 10-20 degree mark action gets hotter. When it warms up majority of activity happens after dark.
I hunted the morning Friday, November 4 (50 degrees low and 72 high temp) and got an 11 point before 8 AM, goes to show you just have to get out there.
I mostly see mature bucks on their feet during daylight searching for the last hot does Nov. 16-24. Especially in cold weather late morning to midday. Between 9:30am-1:00pm. There’s less does in heat the later you get in November so the bucks are having to search and they search during daylight when it’s cold.
Intresting! I beleive sky clairity during particular moon phases and moon sets before actual winter is set in makes a differents until rut snaps for daylight exposure as well. Thanks
Nice cold front coming in South eastern ohio on the 11th of this month. That next Saturday morning will be prime.. a 12 pointer was taken at east fork state park today. 146 inches...
I took two weeks off of work here starting last week (last of October and first week of November) here in Michigan. Last week we had a small cold front but didn’t even get a frost out of it. This week we’re in the midst of 60’s highs and 40 something lows. Forecast is 70’s a few days. The hunting has been horrible. There is very little activity at all. A couple scrapes here and there and camera is getting very little action. Such a bummer!
Long time Michigan archery deer hunter here. I've taken those same 2 weeks off for nearly 50 seasons now. The doe's are still coming into heat, no matter what the temperature is. Something to consider. Big Rapids area and Clare for example will be 10 & 15 degrees cooler than the lakeshores. Cadillac and Baldwin areas, same thing. Go running and gunning if you can? Good luck to you. Hope you get to tag one.
I'm from north east pa and the daytime temp's are in the 60s to low 70s.thursday morning will be in the 40s and Friday morning as well.do you think the pre rut is over in PA now?
Maybe i missed the camera locations but are these cameras on timberline or in timber swamp or creek bottoms. Womdering if the days where fewer photos could they be primarly out in clear cuts or ag fields? Just got me thinking
Most of the bruisers on my Cams,All 2,3,4 am, no daytime pics And this is on un pressured private property, it is what it is, been in the upper60s all week Best-Regards over there
Your Data doesn’t differentiate between immature bucks and mature buck movement. Here in Iowa we see the Giants, moving during daylight, from November 10th to November 15th. True Booners.
Cold morning in the rut here in Tennessee is the key to see bucks cruising.
What area down in TN? My buddy is just getting avid into archery hunting down there. REALLY wants me to come down... you do good annually?
East TN
Same in North Carolina
@@ryankinsey1504 Tennessee River area in central Tennessee

4 years straight punched a tag November 18th. Always seems a day big bucks cruising in western mass post rut. Keep up the great content!

Only seeing the bucks during night hours in northern Wisconsin. Will be much colder next week, so hoping to more movement during the day.

yup. i've got bucks that have never been on any of my cams in daylight. some just know.
They tend to get up an move when it's colder out, an stay bedded in when it's warm. That's a proven..

So.....all those deer and "days" in ohio and no one was hunting?
All of those pictures from November 5th were lighting up my phone as I was finishing up editing a video the day before I left for the Ohio farm 🙄
