    For persons asking for the recipe:
    6 cups water (boiling)
    Cinnamon leaf
    mace
    (outer covering of the nutmeg)
    2 cups sugar
    1/2 cup raisins (optional)
    2 stick margarine
    DRY Ingredients
    3 cups cornmeal
    1/2 cup flour
    1 pk milk powder
    1 1/2 tsp salt
    1 nutmeg
    1/2 TBSP cinnamon powder
    2 1/2 cup coconut milk
    3 TBSP vanilla

    Watch this video and water came to my eyes. Remember when my grandmother use to bake all these things for us back in the 1960s when we were kids. How I miss Jamaica and what it use to be.

      I remember too. My grandmother was a great baker with minimal ingredients. She never measured but everything she cooked was excellent. She died 48 years ago.

    *Cornmeal Pudding*
    6 cups water
    1-2 cinnamon leaf
    Mace
    2 cups sugar
    1/2 cup raisins
    Margarine
    3 cups corn meal
    1/2 cup of flour
    1 packet milk powder
    1 1/2 teaspoons salt
    1 nutmeg grated
    1/2 tablespoon cinnamon powder
    2 1/2 cups coconut milk

      It's been 4 years and i still haven't figured out the weight of the anchor milk powder omg is it the 2kg one? 😞😞😞

      I usually use around 80g of milk powder.I hope this helps. (but see cuz I don't use anchor I dont know the size they come in)

    This is basically the same way we make our Coo-Coo in T&T except no sweetening it, no baking, and okro instead of raisins. But how you all make it here looks REAL GOOD so I will try it soon. Thanks Aunty Mazie & Grace Foods. Islands Unite.

    I did it like that once and it was one of the best cornmeal pudding I ever had
    soft and moist.

    I added a twist to this and it's the BOMB! Instead of 3 cups milk, I used 2 plus 1 can cream style corn, vanilla & almond water. Then I leave it to boil on the stove to create a " turn cornmeal" WOW! Thanks a lot.

    Masie my friend Cheryl loves to make cornmeal pudding. Although she in foreign she still grate her coconut by hand. I am sharing this with her. Can't wait for her to try this and she like the custard on the top.😍

    Just tried this. waiting for it to be baked. Hope it will turn out good. I made a few using another recipe but they always came out dry...very dry. Cant wait to taste this one.

    This is a great concept with the stove top. I tried it and almost got it except it had much lumps.

      Really I was gonna try now but may I ask was that due to not frequently stirring....that happens to me making porridge if I dont stir quickly and heat too high under the pot

      @@shaq3ali tbh I winged it all...depending on the amount of sauce you make..I used like spoon of soluble instant coffee to about half a cup of condensed milk and about half spoon of appleton rum...I made 2 so far and the second time it was stronger than the first and they both tasted great🙄

    my mother used to make cornmeal pudding when i was a little girl...I think her recipie was a little different... the top used to be soft and very delicious!!!!!!!!!!!

      In Tucker , St James we use to call the top lurush( Lo Rush) . Yes man dem days deh Jamaica is to nice in the 1960s. I left Jamaica in 1978 age 14 with my mom ,dad and two sisters. My dad saw what the country was becoming and decided to pull up stumps. He was right but I still miss Jamaica

    Don't knock this version of cornmeal pudding unless you try it. No hard and fast rule in baking or cooking! Different parts of Jamaica does things differently, never too old to learn! Respectfully!

      Very necessary in my humble view. The coconut milk is part of the authentic Jamaican flavor. The pudding is not the same without it.

    wow i will not be mixing and baking it the old fashioned way again as I do tend to go in the oven about 20 minutes after to stir in order to not let the raisin sink to the bottom. Thank you.
