The ladies back in the day that figured this recipe out were outright geniuses. Especially without food processors. They probably developed this in MOTHER AFRICA. LOVE TO THE ANCESTORS.
That is right. Check out sweet Adejeley (and other African web )she does something call kinkey But they ferment the the corn meal or the banku Fermented corn meal and cassava mix together.
This reminds of pastelles that we make around Christmas time in Trinidad and paimee, at least the use of the banana leaf. I'm not good at tying the banana leaf so after I fold it in the leaf I wrap it in the foil. Probably it's wasteful but it works for me. I'm definitely going to try your recipe. Thanks for this. One Caribbean... One love.
Yeah I don't remember my grandmother putting cassava or sweet potato in it. For me the flavour is more pronounce when done in banana leaf. I would never eat it from foil.
Yes dear this dukunu recipe is so good with banana leaf and foil you and me are favorites! That looking fantastic job recipe and I will give you a big A+ on good grades! Keep it up you do good
It is Ghanaian taken to Jamaica during the capture of our kings and queens. Dont forget the name Dukunu is a corrupted form of Dokono how we say it in Ghana
@S Dthe name of the food is the same name we call it the style of cooking it is not and I've heard Jamaican say its the same thing the name dukunu couldn't have just come from the blue, Jamaicans have influence from the cultures you mentioned but definitely Africa is strong in the DNA
bwoy goodie you bring back memories with this blue draws back in the day sonetime this only what mama could find for us to eat with a cup a tea in the morning an the same for dinner we just eat what we have but I can't eat it no more I eat it too much back then. this look yummi goodie
Looks so delicious juliana this brings back memories of my uncle making this i would laugh at him because i thought he was making up the name blue drawers now i can make my own lol! tyfs have a lovely evening!!!!👍👌😋😍💖💖
Use ripe banana with.with foil or grater green banana no skin, to get the colour. Blue draws it is the iron from the banana leaf that gives it the colour
People should stop saying how 'lucky her husband is' as if it is her role to cook food in a house hold. She is a strong independent woman doesn't need to cook for nobody. Do not domesticise her talent. I'm done talking.

I have been Jamerican my whole life and have never heard of this a day in my life. I now have something to ask my grandmother about
Omg really
You would love it boo💕
Jamerican? Lmfaooooooo
Kuroobi5 ask her to make you some😋. As kids draws is another word for underwear so it was funny to request it. Too much cornmeal makes it too tough.
Thank you for this video, what can be substitute for cassava or can you make it without it?
Without
You could put pimento leaves in hot water or cinnamon leaves for extra flavour
thank you.
Love ❤️
If you dont have cassava can you use flour?
Now this is a meal
Juls no joke you the real deal
Awww thnx gooodie
My mother would cook it in the banana leaf every Friday for dinner Jamaican of course.
Uno no use pumpkin inna it? In 758 🇱🇨 we use pumpkin and sweet potato, no Yuka or cassava. We call it pemie or conkie. Same thing though.
Yummy

CONGRATULATIONS XOXOXO
Banana is a must in my blue draws!
You dont use flour???
Noooooop
We use parchment or butcher paper instead of banana leaf.. Parchment paper can hold up for at least 3 hrs in boiling water without ant adverse effect.
Looks so delicious juliana this brings back memories of my uncle making this i would laugh at him because i thought he was making up the name blue drawers now i can make my own lol! tyfs have a lovely evening!!!!👍👌😋😍💖💖

love you xoxoxo
That is so not Jamaican blue draws. Isn't the main ingredient green banana? Isn't it meant to be blue when cooked? Hence the name blue draws
Use canning pot
thank you
The banana leaf gives it a flavour that the foil wont
That color is wrong too..it should be darker. It too soft and no cornmeal should be in it.
These ingredients are added over the years, but the combination is not the original ingredients for Dukkunu.
There is no such shit as “Jamaican Sweet Potato” all Caribbean islands have sweet potato
Calm down
Trust me it's not that serious
Love you
Cooking in foil is very bad for your health.
People will watch it if you stop repeating over ND over talk too much
Yuh get the drift ▶️ smmfh
Does blue Jaws make with caramel or banana cuz I want time I eat it and it was of a purple look plz

Tammy Scott maybe from the leaf.
