  • I've muddled through another video! This one is planning a day (for demo purposes only) in my Filofax using the bullet journal. I also share my @Agenda pages. Hopefully you can find something useful here, only incorporate what makes sense for you.
    Reminder, my grid Bullet Journal pages are the free download from www.mylifeallinoneplace.com.

    I bought my first filofax 25 years ago and had been using it with various degrees of productivity over the years UNTILLL I somehow stumbled onto the planner community (how did I not know this existed???). Wow have I been totally doing it wrong, or at least superficially. I spent several long hours at work (shhhhh) watching videos about planning and yours have heloed me more than anyone. Seriously. I am no longer an indefinite procrastinator. This happened almost overnight after this video. I mourn the many lost years of productivity from having not found you sooner.. THANK YOU!

    Girl, your videos just keep getting better! This is officially on my list of best planning/filofax videos EVER!! The @agenda pages are pure genuis!! And the 3-tip reveal?! Clever, concise, and undoubtedly memorable! The fact that you make your planning/planner fun and functional with a decided emphasis on functional is so reassuring to me because the majority of planner images and media seem to be of the Mary Poppins persuasion..."practically perfect in every way" which can lead to planner discontent, planner envy, and ultimately, planner fail. Your videos give me the permission to make planning and productivity the priorities. Kinda like keeping first things first, then adding the fun in bits and pieces without distracting from the primary purpose. (Whew! How in the world did I put so many "p's" in one comment?!) Anyway, thank you, thank you! And please keep them coming!

    Thank you for your explanation about how to use an agenda. It's the part of GTD to which I've paid the least attention and have never used, but you've shown how valuable it can be. I only really became interested in bullet journaling when someone showed how it solved some of the problems I have with GTD, so I'm very grateful for your videos. I shall be watching them again before I get set up and probably afterwards as well. I hope you decide to share more about how you make it work.

    I laughed out loud when you discussed rule no.3. "I can't write it down because I don't have the right pen". That was the old me. I'm less of a perfectionist now and I got some more pens. So many great ideas in this video and it was good to see the planning process in action. Thanks!

    Genius! I watch a lot of planning videos and never heard anyone so clearly state the difference between a task and project. Using a verb as the first word in a task is brilliant and I will put that into practice immediately. It has me wanting to rush to my Hobonichi to review what I've written - to sort out my tasks vs. projects. Thanks for the great tip.

    • @Addicted2Planning

      randykite thank you!!! I often have to stop and think. Usually when something isn't getting done, it's because I was vague about the next step. The verb definitely helps me. :)

    Thank you! This was very helpful. I'm just getting started with Bullet Journaling and my "over-preparing", OCD nature makes it difficult to get started. I understand the concepts, but seeing a mock real-time setup has helped me grasp the method. Though I like the idea of just turning to a new page if you don't like how you've set something up in a hardbound journal, I'm drawn to the flexibility of a ring binder and the ability to remove a page if I mess up. I'm trying a hardbound first to see if it can push me to let go of perfection and enjoy function.

    • @Addicted2Planning
      @Addicted2Planning  7 років тому

    I enjoyed this video very much! You have a comforting/pleasant voice, and I have nail envy (your's are awesome)! I love your hi-tech 3 tip reveal. I do have a question: do you use different pens for color coding or is it a multi-color pen?

    • @Addicted2Planning
      @Addicted2Planning  8 років тому

      Thanks Jodi!!!! ☺️. I have a fountain pen that I use mostly, but when I color code, I try to use my FriXion 0.7 pens. Being erasable are perfect for when plans change. I do also have two 5-color 0.4 pt Coleto pens that I carry around in the event I don't have the FriXion ones... And use them especially when the event has already happened... And I know I won't need to erase! :). Does that help?

    hi! you have a fantastic video! i wonder, do you plan only at home? i ask because I see your water consumption and other stuff filled in with another color, and you show your color coding to do's with different pens. Or you're doing it when at the evening at home? I can't imagine taking all of those pens outside of home and do it somewhere at work. Also could you please show how you did the headings for your dailies with black color with writing on it (the date) in white( is it a black washi with a white gel pen over it? thank you for your answer.
    btw, I started to bujo with my dailies too, and have videos on this on my channel. I'd love to see an update too!

      Hi! Thank you for your questions... I responded on IG... Tagged you in some photos. I plan most often at work and at home. Seldom outside of that. I have a multitude of favorite pens in both locations. I like choosing the right "tool" for the job. My favorite planning pens are Pilot FriXion gel in 0.7 retractable. I have them in like 10 colors..... But the Coletos work great too. Hope that helps! :)

    • @mysummertouch
      @mysummertouch 8 років тому

      +Addicted 2 Planning thank you! I have friction pens in 6 colors! But my most favorite color is always black. This month I run out of it, and I had to use my Lamy Safari, which leaves no room for mistakes... I participate in #onebookjuly2016, so I can't switch my pens - I had my Lamy in my bag, and I had to plan on the go, so I grab my Lamy and now use it. I also got another Filofax Malden in fuchsia color, and now I wonder if I can switch my aqua Malden, which I use right now, to it...

    I would have loved this sort of a thing 20-30 yrs ago but what I don't understand is the lure with all of today's modern tools on our devices. How much extra time in your day does this form of planning take?

    • @Addicted2Planning
      @Addicted2Planning  6 років тому

      momster hey there! This is the great debate! I’m a huge technology lover... need my iPhone!! However, this meets a bunch of other needs. First, I have a desk job, so writing things down is a non-issue. I can see in other situations, this would make no sense. Second, this has become my creative outlet... and may be a nice thing to leave behind for my kids. Third, this is ALWAYS faster then pulling out a device, unlocking it, opening an app and transcribing; it doesn’t need back up and doesn’t need charging. Most importantly, studies have shown that the act of putting pen to paper- lights up additional areas of the brain vs. typing - and retention is better. There are many things I use technology for, but this serves such a great purpose for me. :) I hope that helps!

    How do you orient yourself in time? This is the main thing that I don't like in planners without time - there is no time line to actually plan how long your tasks or events are goig to last.

    • @Addicted2Planning
      @Addicted2Planning  8 років тому

      I could see that.... I never have a problem with that; on my digital calendar, I can see if my appointments overlap or conflict. So on paper, I just need to see when they start. For tasks, you could draw out a time ladder and time block for chunks of focus or task specific items... That's what's great about grid paper and the blank page. If my day is crazy busy I may lay it out in more detail. I hope that helps!

    Hello there. I really like your system and look forward to implementing some of your ideas. Please explain the meaning of @ Agenda. I understand how you use it. (And love the idea by the way. But what does the name mean? Thanks. And btw you have a new subscriber.

    • @Addicted2Planning
      @Addicted2Planning  8 років тому

      Hello Elena! I'm sorry for my delayed reply, but I started to question where I got it from. Back in the 90s, I used a planner system called "Priority Management" which is where I first saw and began to use what they call a "Communication Planner". I use this for years and then A few years back I read Getting Things Done by David Allen. He has a context called Agenda which is essentially a list for communication - standing meetings and people you deal with on an ongoing basis. Since all of his contexts have the @ symbol in front (@home, @computer, etc) - I put the @ symbol in front of Agenda. So it really is GTD... Does that make sense?

  • @TheAlystraStardust

    The best way to make it none stressful to me is to ignore decorations and all that. A lot of these fancier channels really turned me away from bullet journaling.

    • @Addicted2Planning
      @Addicted2Planning  8 років тому

      +Bridgett Edwards yes, tasks already to day. I have a few bigger lists (Master Personal and a Master Business task lists; as well as a waiting for list and Someday/maybe) that are behind my second tab. Lists I don't need to look at every day, but maybe every week or so. Does that help?
