Installed this air filter on my 05 Fatboy, with external crankcase breather, wow what a difference, quicker throttle response, runs a lot smother, highly recommend!!!
I purchased this product and it works great I am very satisfied. But my question is about maintenance. When i wash the filter is it ok to use soap to cut the dirt? Also, do i have to REOIL? the filter? thank you for your time
Soap can actually be a bit too sticky. We recommend using an appropriate degreaser such as K&N Air Filter Cleaner. Once clean, you do indeed need to re-oil the filter with air filter oil. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/kn-recharger-air-filter-cleaning-kit
You BOUGHT the item and it runs GREAT so you have it installed but you didn't even read the 1 page of instructions with it??? My God.. It tells you everything you just asked.
All right so I purchased the V&H V02 Intake kit for my 2014 Iron 883N. I haven't installed it yet because I'm a little concerned. I also plan on purchasing the V&H FuelPak and V&H full exhaust, but I'm slightly concerned. I was told I needed to take my bike to the closest Harley Dealer and have them reprogram everything. But I thought the FP3 would take care of all the upgrades? Can you help me? Thanks in advance.
+broken_lung With the FP3, you'll be fine. You won't need to take the bike to the dealer. Your stock bike runs lean from the factory, and adding the air intake will make it run leaner. With a stock exhaust and aftermarket air cleaner, you'll probably be ok without adjusting fueling (though adjusting fueling would certainly help). Once you install the full exhaust though, you'll definitely need to use the FP3. If you're concerned, just wait and install the intake, exhaust, and FP3 all at once. -DrewZilla
+RevZilla Sweet thanks for clearing that up for me! As much as I want to install the air cleaner, I think I'll just wait till I order the other two items. Thanks again for the info. \m/ \m/
Nothing is stopping you from using your aftermarket air cleaner and slip-on without tuning, but the increased airflow is likely causing the bike to run unnecessarily lean. You aren't benefitting from your upgrades unless you increase the fueling with a tuner such as the FP3. -DrewZilla
I ordered this item from revzilla.com for my HD street 500 along with an firebrand slip on 4" cannon exhaust, and I did not notice any performance changes. The holes were really off base and it took me way longer to install the intake because of this issue. What should I do? any suggestions.
Have you performed any fuel tuning? By installing a slip-on and air intake, you've increased the airflow to the engine without also increasing the fueling. You could have your bike dyno-tuned, or you could use one of the following fuel tuners. The Fuelpak FP3 is the most popular. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/vance-hines-fuelpak-fp3-autotuner-for-harley-2011-2018 *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/dynojet-target-tune-for-harley-street-2015-2017 *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/dynojet-power-vision-for-harley-canbus-2011-2017
Without a rain sock or round aftermarket air cleaner cover, it won't do well in the rain. However, we have a couple rain sock options you can leave on the air cleaner all the time. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/arlen-ness-big-sucker-pre-filter-rain-sock *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/roland-sands-venturi-rain-sock
+Frank Castle Maybe a little bit but not really. Harleys run lean from the factory and therefore run hot. To deflect the heat coming off the motor, I recommend a set of Kuryakyn Saddle Shields. For the bike to run cooler as well as potentially make some more power, I recommend a fuel controller. What model/year bike do you have? -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/kuryakyn-saddle-shield-heat-deflectors-for-harley
Ok great thank you. That puts my mind at ease about that , but is it a reason for my bike to chug , loose some power and jerk a little when it's first starting out after sitting? Sorry
I bought it like it is now with the V&H filter and wrapped exhaust (doubt that makes any difference ) so I'm not sure how the stock one was performing. It is a 2012 Harley sportster seventy two, 1200cc.
No, you need to use the backing plate and filter that are included with this kit. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/vance-hines-vo2-naked-air-intake-kit-for-harley
I used the KN cleaning kit with this product....... not sure if everyone else are experiencing the same issue.... after i let it dry completely after spraying on the filter oil..... i rode the bike onto the freeway and when i come back i noticed the oil from the filter dripping down.... i wiped it... next day repeat, same thing...... is there a way to resolve that issue? it did it often and to the point where 70% of the oil on the filter dripped away...lol
We can't make any specific claims on gained horsepower, as there are a lot of variables that affect power output. If adding an air cleaner and the rest of the motor and exhaust are stock, you likely do not need to dyno your bike. However, tuning gives you the best chance for power gains. The things i like about these videos is that you get all this side information on parts and whats available 👍🏍
Yes just bought one for my HD street 750 they just released awhile ago, but letting people know because i haven’t seen one for the 750.
I have had 2 backing plates crack around rear breather warranty but wish I had screaming eagle or a brand that don't break.
Thanks DrewZilla!!!
So, if I mate this with a Tab Exhaust slip on, does the FP4 have a map already for that?

What do you recommend to use for cleaning and re-oiling this filter?
07 1200c.... Will the stock oval cover fit??
What diameter it the filter? I am stuck for room and can't figure if this or the Arlen Ness big sucker is smaller

Is it a MUST to use an FP3 if you are already using the VO2 and V&H muffler? The bike is a Harley Street 500

How does this compare to the VO2 90
How does this work in the rain? I live in the mountains and often end up getting caught in some pretty heAvy rain storms.

Is it an issue if I keep hearing a "Psssst" sound?
I took off the naked filter and there seems to be a minimal amount of oil on the mounting plate...
Ok great thank you. That puts my mind at ease about that , but is it a reason for my bike to chug , loose some power and jerk a little when it's first starting out after sitting? Sorry
Anywhere from several hours to several days , but not after the engine heats up.
It dies if I don't catch the clutch in time and that's pretty much every time until the engine warms up.
I bought it like it is now with the V&H filter and wrapped exhaust (doubt that makes any difference ) so I'm not sure how the stock one was performing.
It is a 2012 Harley sportster seventy two, 1200cc.
I doubt it has been tuned, it only has 1600 miles so far.
I have a 2018 sportster custom 1200 will this fit inside my stock oval cover?
Yes, the Naked VO2 can fit inside your stock cover. -DrewZilla

Only the filter of this kit can fit sreamin eagle backing plate ???
No, you need to use the backing plate and filter that are included with this kit. -DrewZilla

mine brought "breather hoses" dunno what to do with them lol i see u dont got them in this vid
Do you have this same air cleaner? If not, which do you have, and what year/make/model motorcycle do you have? -DrewZilla
It's just the cheapest version. Why do the air cleaners cost almost the same as the exhaust pipes? Way more than the Harley filters. What gives?
Approx. how much more HP is gained by adding this Naked. When adding the naked , do I need to Dyno my bike - or is it an add and ride filter.

How does it performs against a RSD air cleaner, such as the venturi?
The Venturi offers just slightly more airflow, but it isn't a massive difference. -DrewZilla
Will this fit under my stock oval air box on my '09 883?
No, it will not fit under your stock oval cleaner cover. You'd need a standard 5.5" aftermarket cover. -DrewZilla
