Super SECRET Beauty Spot in Cornwall with a ROYAL story!

  • We wanted to find out if it was worth visiting Tremayne Quay. This quay was built in 1846 for a Royal visit that never happened!
Sir Richard Vyvyan owned the area and in anticipation of the royal visit rebuilt the quay, planted a woodland and laid a substantial carriageway from his house and estate to the quay. When bad weather came in, the royal visit was abandoned.
Today the woodland and quay are owned by the National Trust who maintain public access. The carriageway runs for about 3/4 of a mile from a small parking area, following the creekside and offers a secret, secluded place to walk and take a picnic.

    The standard description bit…
We are Sarah and Andrew and we film our walks around Cornwall and publish on UA-cam, usually weekly. Sometimes we stay in accommodation in Cornwall and upload our vlog. Sarah is fascinated by sea glass and likes to collect it so there may be the occasional sea glass video too. The channel is a hobby and we both have normal day jobs!
Unfortunately we cannot answer comments coming in more than a week after the publishing date of the video.
    Frequently asked questions:
    Do we do meet ups?
We regularly receive requests to meet up from viewers and subscribers, but unfortunately we do not have availability to be able to do this.
The channel is a very time consuming hobby, fitted around our employment and family commitments. Setting aside time for meet ups, means that we are not able to film and edit our weekly videos that you love to watch.
If you happen to bump into us while out and about, we will be more than happy to have a quick chat!
    Sarah and Andrew
    What camera do we use?
Since December 2018 we have used: Canon Powershot G7x MkII
How do I find the books you use?
Most are still in print although some we pick up in charity shops and may be available on Amazon secondhand. Please refer to the video for the book titles. Every video shows the book three times. Sorry but we can’t put a link in every description.
Best time of year to visit Cornwall?
We love May, June for flora and fauna, July and September for spectacular scenery.
    What is your dog’s name?
Sorry but we do not release the name of our dog, perhaps you can make up your own name for him.

Oh, I love woodlamd walking with these beautiful trees with the curly branches and close to an estuary ❤️. Queen Victoria would have cried her eyes out if she knew what she was missing. And the quay is huuuuge!!! What a great disappointment it must have been that they didn't visit! 😢
Thank you for another lovely and educational video. Torunn 🥰

Lovely to see you both back in action, and accompanied by the doggies! That is such a peaceful woodland walk, and I love the sound of a stream wending it's way down & through...it's one of my favourite features of Cornwall ~ you're never far from the sound & movement of water 💙. The river view & quay is amazing...'75 Dogs Long' (sounds like the title for a mystery novel). Hope Andrew eventually got his elusive pasty. Love the pretty classic print top Sarah. Dont forget to pace yoursleves for the next couple of months (level walks!) x

Sorry to hear you had COVID but glad you are well enough to go out walking again. Did this walk in 2020 when I set myself the challenge of visiting all national trust places and car parks in Cornwall in 1 year! Lovely place for a sunny walk with the spring flowers out. Enjoyed watching your Bath videos too!

Welcome back. Glad you've (almost) recovered from the dreaded covid. And glad to see the little mud magnets again, have missed their antics🐕. I'm wondering who was the most disappointed, Sir Richard on missing out on a royal guest, or Andrew finding Gear farm closed😭. The person who installed that swing must have used Andrews measuring system. 2 Irish wolfhounds or a Great Dane and 1/2 😂

Hi Sarah and Andrew, I'm sorry to hear that Covid had caught you. I wish that you both make a full recovery. We did the hike last year in February. It was beautiful there with the curly branches and a wonderful spot to take out my sketchbook. It was nice to hear the story about it. Thank you so much for sharing. Andrew definitely needs to go back and have a pasty:). It's worth it! Oh, the cute dogs needed a bath:)). It also rained a lot here in Germany and the footpaths in the woods are still very muddy. Spring is coming with a lot of much needed sunshine.☀ Take care. Have a lovely weekend, Gabi:)

What a fabulous post: and you both did really well doing that walk after having had Covid. This looks to be a good place to visit but will wait until this appalling weather improves (if it ever does 😉)
Seeing your doggies reminded me of the wonderful times we had with our late Springer Spaniel at Tehidy Woods where she’d often as not get plastered in mud 😁

Great Royal connections combined with beautiful views, entertaining “mud-babies” and of-cause Andrew is always entertaining what more could we want, The Blue Bells beginning to sprout will look glorious, reminds me of Scotland in the spring they stretched as far has the eye could see, we used to visit “Queens View” Albert & Victoria’s favourite picnic site, so Royalty loved Cornwall as much as we do, I learn something new every day, sorry about the dreaded Covid, I had a real bad dose when it was rampant quite horrendous🥴wishing you both a speedy recovery, take care until next time 🤗
