More very amazing and interesting stories from Cornwall as always, those Alms houses were beautifully built, pity there aren’t some such housing built for the poor and needy these days, it’s nice to see the boys out enjoying themselves, Andrew hasn’t lost his quirky sense of humour I’m pleased to say, I’ve never seen a lost stop sign, just the usual shopping trolly 😅 thanks 🙏 again for another informative walk about, look forward to your next one both of you 👍🥀🤗
What an absolute treat! My mum's family comes from Tywardreath and Lanlivery, and I had the opportunity to stop in Tywardreath back in 2018. Didn't have much time there, but I did wander around St. Andrew's looking for family graves. How wonderful to see it again! I'm ill and laid up today, so this really cheered me up. Thank you!
We stayed at par during the 80s and 90s every year ,fantastic holidays and my children were always fascinated with the ships coming to the harbour ,they looked as though they were coming right up the beach
Yet another excellent vlog, thank you. The preparation work you obviously carry out before videoing results in very professional and informative content.
Wonderful! I hope to visit the area soon and visit my relative in Par who has recently corresponded, but not seen for many years. Thank you so much, Sarah & Andrew.
Just found this video, I am looking for information about Par as I found out my grandfather went to Par (From Derby) and worked as a cook on a boat or ship called Amanda when he was 16 years old. An interesting video, thanks!
Thank you 😊 Beautiful and interesting as usual. And great photos from the olden days. I loved the story of the shoemaker. Indeed a determined person 😊 Looking very much forward to watching the vlogs from your road trip. Torunn 🥰
Hi Sarah and Andrew, a really fantastic video, many thanks! I'm very fond of Par and Tywardreath, having got to know it via Bob Acton's walking book of the St Austell area, At Tywardreath there's a public footpath which takes you under the railway to a beautiful bit of marshy woodland which is a nature reserve -it's basically the silted up estuary of the Par river. Another fantastic walk follows the canal at Par up to St Blazey, and then along a beautiful path along the edge of Tregrehan Garden to Biscovey. I love the story of Richard Lobb! I love Par Beach too, it has particularly sparkling sand! Thanks again!
Barnacle geese. No theyre canada geese. Ive gotta visit this area car parking is not too dear either. Thanks for this walk. Best eatch the rest of your video now ....😅 Kev the Brinklow kayaker
The summer after I finished University, I read through the entire shelf of Daphne Du Maurier at the local public library. House on the Strand is a story of it's day (published in 1969), but also a unique time travel story. I love that Du Maurier shows up in your vlogs from time to time. Such interesting stories! These in particular remind us how personal sacrifice and enterprise can guide a life to success...and change the lives of others. Glad to hear there was philanthropy at the end of the story. A fascinating area, where a priory and huge mine stack have faded into history. I love the little sculpture above the door. I enjoyed your outing today especially, as we are slammed with rain here in Southern California. Cheers!
Another lovely walk indeed! The little town so amazing and the stories! Thank you again for a lovely time! (Puppy is so big now, i remember when you got him) .. sweet shoe maker! Walked to London wow….i was going to ask how long is the mileage to walk…but got it! Wow…”these shoes were made for walking” perfect song, if he only knew …hehe….never a dull moment to visit an ancient church … wow so lovely….thanks for sharing guys…all the best to you… I’m excited about your idea of the UK road trip, wow lovely idea …… stay well🎈🌼(ana)
Stayed at the caravan park behind the beach one year. Enjoyed dog walks on the beach and early morning strolls around the lake (careful where you step though!)🦆💩It was quite a surprise some mornings to open the caravan door to find a family of swans strolling by! Ideal base for exploring everywhere from Falmouth to Looe. Great video as always
Before he Escaped to the Chateaux, Dick Strawbridge and his family moved into the farm at the end of Priory Lane for the TV show "It's Not Easy Being Green"
When the Priory was open the sea used to flow right up to Priory. The coastline moved south as the silt from the mining activities inland was washed down the river and the coastline moved to Par
Smashing video as always. Do come to Glastonbury, steeped in myth and Arthurian legend, the iconic tor, Glastonbury Abbey ruins founded in 8th Century, beautiful old churches, sacred springs and wells, mural trail, everything dog friendly and more crystals, candles and kaftans than you could ever need!
Fantastic, fun, and informative video, as always. I'm sure many people have already mentioned it, but you two should do your own printed guidebooks of walks in Cornwall for us to follow as well. Keep up the great work! :)
I was on Par beach just a couple of weeks ago - lovely to see you featuring places I’m very familiar with (I live in Staffordshire but visit Fowey very regularly). Have you been to the Rashleigh at Polkerris?
The landscape from the church to the sea would have looked so different many many years or so ago because of the land reclamation. The sea came in a lot closer than it does now.
I really enjoy your videos. I have a Spaniel who really pulls if on just a collar. I expect you’ve thought of putting it on a Halti invented by a Devon vet. You’ll find it will decrease the pulling massively and you will enjoy your walking together. They can drink, pant and eat with it on. I wouldn’t be without it now 🙂🙂
We tried a Halti with our first spaniel but he never got on with it. The brown and white dog is still young and exuburant and we tend to do more off lead walks so being retrained is challenging! Our older dog is sooooo good on a lead; he will teach the young one! It won't be long before he settles down to lead walking. Sarah :)
We have some cottages in our local town dated from 1816. They are very small the doors always maded me think that only people who weren't very tall could only live there.
Oh Andrew, Andrew, Andrew! Dear, dear, dear! Them there Barnacle Geese were Canada Geese. I ex-peck-ted better from you, a choughing Cornish countryman, though I s'pose you were th-rushing to get this video out, so no time for swanning about or ducking the issue. Another entertaining video, keep 'em coming.
Par Stack was where you were looking. Right on the harbourside. The stack developed a crack after it was struck by lightening. My husband Sat's that he thought it was for processing arsenic, a by- product of tin. If you walk on the other side of the river to the Par engine shed, the footpath is the original Treffry Railway, the granite dleepers can still be seen.
Regarding the tall chimney, l think you can find it's location on the National Library of Scotlands Historic Maps. Via Ordnance Survey 25inch Scotland, 1892-1949 side by side view.
Love your walks and stories. I reckon you should take people on these walks as a little business ❤ Are you watching Michael Portillow doing the Devon and Cornwall coastal path on TV? ❤
Have never taken much notice of Par. It's just somewhere you drive through. The only bit of Par I know is the athletics track as I competed for my school back in the 1970s. Nu Shooz would also be another track for the playlist.
We holidayed at Par Sands with our touring caravan 12 years ago we never got much sleep because of the china clay works and the docks noise - never again.
If you were going to move house what part of Cornwall would you move to if it was based just on area? We’ve lived in Cornwall for a year and a half and we are currently house hunting to upsize and not really sure where too go my partner works in Redruth so we don’t want to be more than 30-40 minutes drive from Redruth for his work but where we’re new to Cornwall we don’t really know anywhere to have a preference lol also I’ve been watching your videos for years now and love your videos and personalities your videos are always interesting and funny 🙂 xx
Thanks! Not much help with your first question as it all depends on your circumstances, needs and taste. We are also out of touch with the housing market, sorry! Sarah :)

Great video as always. Soul man was by Sam & Dave...just so you know 😉

visited it in 1960, it was empty except for a cafe, coming back next year, excited to see how it has changed.
We use to live in Tywardreath, lovely place to live, great pub 😊
Wet dogs! Happy dogs!
Very happy dogs! Sarah :)
You guys are such good company! Thanks for another fascinating walk in Cornwall.
You're welcome! Sarah :)
Another awesome watch. 👌

Thanks Torunn! We had a few days in Bath! Sarah :)
Bath is a beautiful and interesting place ❤ I was there in 2016 😊

Lovely Lovely Lovely many thanks , its been a wonderful distraction from reality for me today.
You are so welcome, Sarah :)
Hi Sarah and Andrew. I really enjoyed your walk and the bundles of history. Hope the dogs didn't get too muddy.
Doggies were very happy and the mud washed off in the sea! Sarah :)
I just been to the beach this evening 😂
The landscape from the church to the sea would have looked so different many many years or so ago because of the land reclamation. The sea came in a lot closer than it does now.
So we understand, up to Tywardreath at one point? Sarah :)

Thanks Sarah, tell Andrew he needs to buy a bird guide. Not sure he'll swallow that ........

How about your Bootiful by James Blunt, great as always Guy's👍👍👍
Good one! Sarah :)
Regarding the tall chimney, l think you can find it's location on the National Library of Scotlands Historic Maps. Via Ordnance Survey 25inch Scotland, 1892-1949 side by side view.
It's shown under the words Brick Works as "chy"
Love your walks and stories.
I reckon you should take people on these walks as a little business ❤
Are you watching Michael Portillow doing the Devon and Cornwall coastal path on TV?
❤
We would love to accompany people walking the SWCP! Sarah :)
The strip of water at about 15 may be the canal used to transport 'stuff' from from the Luxulyian valley.
Thank you! Sarah :)

Par Track is a great facility, the running track is still there and looks immaculate, Sarah :)
I wonder if the people who live in the properties you find in your books know the stories associated with them!
I often wonder that, and if they will come out and ask why we are filming! Sarah :)
Par stack is where the docks is now
Par Smelter (Slag Locality), Tywardreath and Par, Cornwall, England, UK

Oh dear! Sarah :)
Watch Fred Dhibna steeple jack on how to demolish a chimney the traditional way
We will check it out! Sarah :)
Loved this vid. He is a total nutter ( meant in a nice way )
LOL! Sarah :)
I’m a soul man 😂😂😂😂

Surely no 22 North St should have a blue plaque on it or its famous ex-resident....? Come on, Tywardreath, celebrate your outstanding citizens!
Good point! Sarah :)
Par isn't a natural beach , none of Par is natural .
Where Par is now used to be Tywardreath bay and silted up over a few hundred years due to the mining up stream .
You used to be able to take a sailing ship up past St Blazey church to Ponts mill .
Wow! The landscape has changed hugely! Sarah :)
