I have nothing but positives to say about this game. -Fantastic concept - Controls that become second nature once you get used to them -Kat's impossibly likeable -Fantastic visuals -Great soundtrack -Effortlessly whimsical and charming If you haven't played it... just... shame on you.
MegaMang 04 just because they both use gravity doesn't make them the same. in mario you just jump on everything or use yoshi. in gravity rush you fly, have a flying kick, summon a gravity storm to kill, use gravity to lift objects to throw to kill, summon gravity spikes and kill, summon a black hole, you can also stake around using gravity powers to slide like a skateboard. the story's are completely different (gravity rush being more original then mario beating browser again ). setting are different. the graphic styles are different, the music is different. Lead characters are different sex just because they use gravity in different ways doesn't make them similar with that logic that means that uncharted 4 is just like call of duty because they both have guns.
+821lancevance I never said they were the same I just said it has some elements. There's plenty of games that have ideas from other games, it's not a bad thing if done right.
So glad you spotlighted this game and gave it the attention it deserves. I love Gravity Rush. It does so many innovative things perfectly and puts it all together in a fun and cohesive package. Many props CGR.
Got Gravity Rush on Vita on launch day. I absolutely love my Vita, and Gravity Rush might be my favorite game on it. It's one of the most memorable gaming experiences I've had, no doubt about it.
I did a text review of the Vita version back when it was new, and I found it incredible as well. At the time I thought it was comparable to Prototype or Infamous. It's basically a superhero open-world game like those.
Earlier this year, I finished this game when I got it from Christmas, boy it was fun. If anyone has questions how to finish, then go right ahead on asking
Love this game. The controls take a little getting used to, but when you get the hang of it you will be falling all over the place like a boss. Definitely pick this one up.
I loved this game on my Vita I got stuck near the end though and never finished it :( I never played this PS4 version though. I wanna go back and try to beat it on my Vita but my damn 2012 launch Vita doesn't hold a charge anymore and I don't like leaving it plugged in all the time to play it lol and i'm too lazy to try to replace the battery and/or buy a new one :(
For a game that was originally exclusively for a handheld this game is pretty impressive. Can't wait for Gravity Rush 2 solely developed for PS4 not on a handheld this time :)
I got to play this game when I got my Vita, it was really fun and had very interesting concepts as a game, looked great. I got burned out on it though because it started to become very, very repetitive so I never finished it. The character and the story was developing well, and I regret dropping out of it a little, but with so many other games in my library it's hard to take the time to go back to one.
Do it do it do it. Gravity Rush is a special experience on the Vita. Even if weird artsy games aren't normally you thing, Gravity Rush is a must-buy. Just keep in mind that it's not playable on Vita TV unless you whitelist mod it.
This was one of the first games I got for my Vita. I played it once for about an hour and didn't really care for it. I liked the concept but didn't feel compelled to play it. Maybe I'll give it a second chance, because this review makes the game look a lot better than I remember.
Game with I ever compare with Gravity Rush is first Mirror's Edge. That feeling of speed and freedom is very similar, both looks very distinctive and both are focused on one thing, which do very well, and everything else is just good, not incredible, not bad, just good. But I love them both very much.
The only way I can describe this game is a mix of Jet Set Radio Future and Panzer Dragoon. It's not a comparison people can really understand without seeing it but it at least intrigues them.
The motion controls (at least on the VIta) are excellent for refining your aim! Please share around the trailers and such for the sequel folks. Sony's doing a terrible job marketing this amazing series.
It's nice that it got a remaster, but I'm still bitter that more people didn't end up getting a Vita because of this game (among others). If it was successful, it could've had the best handheld game library ever.
Same here! But I don't agree with he saying "the game is challenging". Except for one small portion of the last chapter. Sure, the game's good, and it's story is super interesting.
***** The challenges were struggle sometimes, tho. I finished the game, meaning I got the platinum trophy just an hour ago. I simply hated the Magma Health Race Challange. Things to improve in this game: Retry option. (It takes 46 seconds including cancelling the mission, loading the city map and reloading the mission.) Fluider movements while falling Level obstacles that were often on the way (fences, lamps, chairs etc. They were way too tightly packed and it slowed down flying) Edge climbing was annoying; the animation slowed (especially when you battled againts time) Story Combat improvements. (Gravity kick hits 1/3 of the time its destination in worst case scenarios) The Stasis field(didn't respond sometimes) More special attacks Unoptimized map(could've better zoom, custom locations, map scrolling, 3d map, etc.) The wall walking could've been more explored More variety in enemies(The look of Nevi was getting a bit boring)
Well, you could compare it to Final Fantasy. While playing, I was getting some really strong Lightning Returns vibes from it, well, of its better points, at least. I also recommend this game. It takes some getting used to, but it gets only better as you get more and more into it. :)
I would rather have Freedom Wars stick to the Vita so people will want to buy it so it can be popular. Sure the Vita bombed, but its not dead. As long as they don't remake all the spectacular Vita games so people will still want it. I'll be happy.
$30 for a great mainstream physical release game on the PS4?? IT'S A GOD DAMN MIRACLE!! Too bad Limited Run Games and their EBay scalper friends weren't able to join forces and screw everyone with Gravity Rush like they do for so many games nowadays.
oh god i really love this game even tho i have just played both versions but just the begining because i have none of those consoles yet ;( the music is just aweosome and the looks idk this game needs to be loved more. Gravity Rush >>>>>>>>>> Unchartard 4
Depends on what you want to play. Console-style games, get a Vita: it has a lot of great PS1 and PSP classics available, and the library for the system has largely been great, interesting titles. Most devs dropped the majority of its touch/motion functions like a rock pretty quickly, so it plays like a PSP for the most part. If you prefer Ninty-styled handheld games, the 2DS/New 3DS is also a great choice, with a lot of great JRPGs, platformers, and more. Both are good systems; you can't really go wrong either way :)
If you have the money to sink in (since the physical games are harder to get and the memory cards are a bit pricey) then definitely go for the vita, if not go with the 2DS.
Well Sony has dropped official first party support for the PSVita, also as others have said the memory cards are stupidly expensive so unless there is a specific game you want that's only one the Vita, and you have the money, then go with a 2DS as you can use cheap SD cards for storage(comes with a 4GB card while not much is a nice touch), you can play both DS, and DSi games along with 3DS games("New" 3DS games won't work properly as they need the extra CPU power, etc), and there are tons of acessories for it. Protip being an owner of a 2DS, go on eBay, and search a 2,000 mAh battery for it, as it really helps the battery life, and they should not cost more than $10, also to note a Fiio E6 portable rechargeable headphone amp was a wise investment in my book as I'm hard of hearing, and volume output on the 2DS via the headphone jack is kind of poor(I guess they volume limited it because of kids), and really helped boost the sound quality in my games. Here is a link to the battery I commented about. www.ebay.com/itm/Rechargeable-Battery-Pack-Replacement-for-Nintendo-2DS-2000mAh-3-7V-/321650270798?hash=item4ae3d9a24e:g:-kcAAOSw2s1Uxhc7
Commodorefan64 Sony never really put a lot of support into the Vita, so them leaving just means you have to look a bit harder to find the new releases.
I didn't like it much on Vita, had to really power through to finish it. I felt like I was constantly battling combat and movement controls the entire game
I will 1/2 agree with you that Thunderdome was good, but I don't really care for the song Tina Turner(We Don't Need Another Hero) did for the movie, as I felt it was weak, added nothing to the movie.
The only negative I have about this game is how empty the open world is. Yes there are people walking around but there just isn't anything really to do and the interactions with inhabitants is minimal. The town just feels more desolate than it should be.
I did not like this game. The concept is the best thing. And I love action-puzzle platformers but everything else surrounding it it including story, art style doesn't pale in comparison to its cool mechanic. I might check out the sequel though.
+821lancevance Well, I am just giving my opinion/preference and not a fact. I like the controls better on vita. It was very well suited on a handheld. The fps wasn't bad. As long as it's playable then it's fine IMO.
+821lancevance I know that...I just rather play it on my vita that's all..I still have to beat mgs5 and fallout 4 on ps4. And I don't have a open world game on my vita besides need for speed.
I have nothing but positives to say about this game.
-Fantastic concept
- Controls that become second nature once you get used to them
-Kat's impossibly likeable
-Fantastic visuals
-Great soundtrack
-Effortlessly whimsical and charming
If you haven't played it... just... shame on you.
yeah it's a master peace for sure
Agree 100%
Love that 60fps, makes the video look so fluid.
This game looks gorgeous on the PS4. Can't wait for 2!
I can't recommend this game enough, please buy this game, you will love it,
Great game feels like infamous meets supermario galaxy
has nothing in common with mario. this game is more oringal then that
+821lancevance don't need to be ignorant it does have elements from the galaxy series.
MegaMang 04
just because they both use gravity doesn't make them the same. in mario you just jump on everything or use yoshi. in gravity rush you fly, have a flying kick, summon a gravity storm to kill, use gravity to lift objects to throw to kill, summon gravity spikes and kill, summon a black hole, you can also stake around using gravity powers to slide like a skateboard.

+821lancevance You come off ignorant as hell trying to tell someone their own comparison in their opinion is wrong
So glad you spotlighted this game and gave it the attention it deserves. I love Gravity Rush. It does so many innovative things perfectly and puts it all together in a fun and cohesive package. Many props CGR.
Thanks for 60fps video, hope it's worth the effort!
Got Gravity Rush on Vita on launch day. I absolutely love my Vita, and Gravity Rush might be my favorite game on it. It's one of the most memorable gaming experiences I've had, no doubt about it.
5:11 I love that effect of the hair blocking your sight!
I like how no one brings up the fact that the director and lead writer for this game is ALSO the creator, and lead writer, of Silent Hill 1.
First time I've heard of that. Dont really see the connection at all
Finally! You old school review style is back =]
Amazing how it transitioned well to the PS4. Cell shading rules.
Gravity Rush has such a great concept for a game. So excited we are actually getting a sequel, never thought it would happen
I got this when I got my Vita. Might have to give the remastered version a try.
I did a text review of the Vita version back when it was new, and I found it incredible as well. At the time I thought it was comparable to Prototype or Infamous. It's basically a superhero open-world game like those.
60fps on my CGR? Yes please!
Earlier this year, I finished this game when I got it from Christmas, boy it was fun. If anyone has questions how to finish, then go right ahead on asking
I implore everyone to PLAY THIS GAME. Not only is it tons of fun but there are moments where I was in such awe, this game is amazing.
Whoa, CGR now presented in 60fps!? me gusta
I remember when this game came out I played it at a videogame store. So far that was the only time I ever tried out the PS Vita.
First game I got for my Vita back in the day, still love it so very much.
Love this game. The controls take a little getting used to, but when you get the hang of it you will be falling all over the place like a boss. Definitely pick this one up.
What'S with the sound at the beginning? Did you forget to turn that mic on?
I loved this game on my Vita I got stuck near the end though and never finished it :( I never played this PS4 version though. I wanna go back and try to beat it on my Vita but my damn 2012 launch Vita doesn't hold a charge anymore and I don't like leaving it plugged in all the time to play it lol and i'm too lazy to try to replace the battery and/or buy a new one :(
How I ignored this game so long I'll never know, but I got the plat just the other week. Cannot be more excited for Gravity Rush 2. Got me day one.
If you like this game I recommend you check out inFamous if you haven't already.
*****
Oh yeah buddy, Infamous was the first PS3 game that knocked my socks off. From the moment you press the start button the game has got you.
For a game that was originally exclusively for a handheld this game is pretty impressive.
Can't wait for Gravity Rush 2 solely developed for PS4 not on a handheld this time :)
Wow, this is definitely 60fps video, still trying to decide if I like it.
I got to play this game when I got my Vita, it was really fun and had very interesting concepts as a game, looked great. I got burned out on it though because it started to become very, very repetitive so I never finished it.

I bought it for a dollar last year during the Sony flash sale!!! LOVE IT
Its on sale this week..but id still get physical. I'd get the vita over ps4 for me.
Do it do it do it. Gravity Rush is a special experience on the Vita. Even if weird artsy games aren't normally you thing, Gravity Rush is a must-buy. Just keep in mind that it's not playable on Vita TV unless you whitelist mod it.

excellent game. only complaint is that its too easy once youve got the hang of the controls. very little challenge. shame. i really enjoyed it.
To be more precise the "Remastered" version is on the PS4 only.
Great review. I think it is on sale on the PSN
The game's artstyle is nice and makes it have a lot more in common with something like SOTC and ICO than Uncharted and TLOU
you should a review of the order 1886, it's an underappreciated gem
Game with I ever compare with Gravity Rush is first Mirror's Edge. I did the good thing, i followed CGR on Twitch.
This game is awesome, the Vita version also looks and play great. Long live CGR
It's nice that it got a remaster, but I'm still bitter that more people didn't end up getting a Vita because of this game (among others). If it was successful, it could've had the best handheld game library ever.
Good timing! I just finished Gravity Rush.

Things to improve in this game:
Retry option. (It takes 46 seconds including cancelling the mission, loading the city map and reloading the mission.)
Fluider movements while falling
Level obstacles that were often on the way (fences, lamps, chairs etc. They were way too tightly packed and it slowed down flying)
Edge climbing was annoying; the animation slowed (especially when you battled againts time)
Story
Combat improvements. (Gravity kick hits 1/3 of the time its destination in worst case scenarios)
The Stasis field(didn't respond sometimes)
More special attacks
Unoptimized map(could've better zoom, custom locations, map scrolling, 3d map, etc.)
The wall walking could've been more explored
More variety in enemies(The look of Nevi was getting a bit boring)
I just bought Gravity Rush!! Now I just need a Vita xD
Has infamous superhero feeling. Along with more refine better gravity gp than silver the hedgehog gameplay.
Amazing, I just got this game at a killer price today, I'm gonna play the hell out of it!
Kat is cute.
This is one of my favorite games this year. Alongside with EDF 4.1 and Ratchet & Clank.
Well, you could compare it to Final Fantasy. While playing, I was getting some really strong Lightning Returns vibes from it, well, of its better points, at least. I also recommend this game. It takes some getting used to, but it gets only better as you get more and more into it. :)

And I though Dusty was named after Rhodes. :P
oh god i really love this game even tho i have just played both versions but just the begining because i have none of those consoles yet ;( the music is just aweosome and the looks idk this game needs to be loved more.

vita
Commodorefan64 Sony never really put a lot of support into the Vita, so them leaving just means you have to look a bit harder to find the new releases.
We don't need another Hero. We don't need to know the way home. All we want is life beyond. Thunderdome.
This game is so Lando that you start in some kind of Cloud City
Tried grush 2 demo and it's fun. I say it again the animation is detailed
This is the game that got me to buy a Vita.
I heard about this game. I wanted to play it but Sony is all about NOT sharing and letting it be ported.
i have played it and confirm that i do in fact love it - it was the reason i bought a vita to begin with =)
just bought this game for $28 new (Australian dollars) last week
wanted it for PS Vita - but couldn't say no to such a cheap price.
This is quite unique?! Might have to give a whirl...
The game gives me insane vertigo at times. Shame I don't have a PS4.
Weird I bought this game today since its only $20.99 in the PlayStation store
Looks like a pretty cool game, to bad it wasn't released for PS3.
I didn't like it much on Vita, had to really power through to finish it. I felt like I was constantly battling combat and movement controls the entire game
you know that feeling when something great is taken away from the psvita? it sucks especially the sequel which will never come
I think this is the first time I've ever disagreed with you Mark. Thunder Dome is awesome. Even the Tina Turner song.
I will 1/2 agree with you that Thunderdome was good, but I don't really care for the song Tina Turner(We Don't Need Another Hero) did for the movie, as I felt it was weak, added nothing to the movie.
Weakest movie of the franchise.
Yeah it was the weakest, but I did like the concept and I thought it was alright. Could have been better but it was still fun.
looks really good
i really enjoy the animation
this looks fun as hell
This is actually 60 fps, I really hope the sequel will be too.
you have twitch :0
I loved it on Vita.
GR is amazing!
gravity rush 2 hype!!
The only negative I have about this game is how empty the open world is. Yes there are people walking around but there just isn't anything really to do and the interactions with inhabitants is minimal. The town just feels more desolate than it should be.
the ps4 version is amazing I can't wait for the 2nd one on ps4 on December 2
Unusual game not similar on Batman, Spider-Man. Good game! ;)
7:17 ~ #BodyCount
The colors don't look that bright and vibrent to me atleast.
I did not like this game. The concept is the best thing. And I love action-puzzle platformers but everything else surrounding it it including story, art style doesn't pale in comparison to its cool mechanic. I might check out the sequel though.
I don't think I'd like it but if I had a PS4 I'd probably give it a try, it seems like a mess.
I NEED THIS GAME IT SPEAKS 2 ME
This game sure has an Alice in Wonderland vibe to it.
I own this on the PS Vita
We got a Vita today
Sony take on NiGHTS into dreams next gen.
reminds me of Rodea
Review Doom already!!!!
He did DOOOOM!
i'm so lucky i got this for 35 bucks instead of 60 or 80 lol
I prefer the vita version.
You and me both.
same here,great game
no way. the controls are better, the frame rate is better, graphics are better.....hell it's all better on ps4
+821lancevance
Well, I am just giving my opinion/preference and not a fact. I like the controls better on vita. It was very well suited on a handheld. The fps wasn't bad. As long as it's playable then it's fine IMO.
I enjoyed the vita version a lot even platinum it but playing the ps4 version is way better.
I like the game but I do feel that it is overrated. The controls in particular are v frustrating.
60 fps!
hey patrick warbortun (if spelled correctly) stop doing reviews...all i see is joe
Doooommm Doooooommm
Worst ending ever
Its on sale this week..but id still get physical. I'd get the vita over ps4 for me.
ps4 has a physical release
+821lancevance I know that...I just rather play it on my vita that's all..I still have to beat mgs5 and fallout 4 on ps4. And I don't have a open world game on my vita besides need for speed.
TheL1arL1ar
as long as you play the 2nd one on ps4
