Keep in mind that a Sgt., at the scene berated a concerned citizen that complained about what the officers did. Nothing happened to that Sgt. Multiple police officers at the station saw the video and heard the story and laughed. Also, those officer knew that the victim was sitting in a jail cell across from them in pain with a broken arm. The officer that broke the lady's arm tried to bury the video. The supervisors including the chief all reviewed body cam and determined that there was no wrongdoing. It was only later that the family sued and the attorney released the video that there was another internal investigation that caused the officers to be fired and charged.

The chief said there was no wrong doing? She is a tiny little lady who was 73 years old. Whether she was demented or not they used excessive force to arrest her by body slamming and then to deny her medical care for 6 hours is disgusting. Her daughter said her mother is so traumatized she doesn’t even smile anymore. Also in the elderly, many times they don’t realize how hurt they are because many don’t feel severe pain like someone who is younger. Plus those with dementia don’t even realize that they are hurt. I’ve seen it many times. An older man or lady have had broken arms or hips and barely feel any pain. I always offered them pain meds for comfort. I did everything I could for someone who broke a bone or who have had heart attacks as those can be extremely painful. Some people in healthcare don’t like administering or ordering pain meds for their patients no matter how bad the pain is. This happened to me during my latest hospitalization where I was admitted for a week due to double septic pneumonia which is painful. I’m on low dose meds at home for pain and they didn’t order my meds for days and only gave me a couple of rounds of IV Morphine after my blood pressure hit the ceiling because my cardiac meds were not ordered for several days also it was absurd. They claimed I demanded pain meds that were narcotics which I didn’t. I asked for something to help with the pain since they were not giving me my home meds. I had septic pneumonia which is painful and they knew it and saw me suffer. I was asking where their compassion was then as well when they saw me not getting any sleep because I couldn’t lay flat due to pulmonary edema. Fluid in the lungs on both sides at the bases and midway up. I’m 45 years old and disabled due to severe conditions I have that make me immunocompramised for life. I don’t want to go back there it was so traumatizing. What ever happened to treat others as you want to be treated. These officers clearly failed and deserve the prison time but I don’t think he is sorry. If he was he would have admitted what he did and not cheer with others about it and if they were trying to bury the video then that shows no remorse either.

Within seconds of interacting with the lady, anyone of normal intelligence could see she had a problem and didn't understand what was going on. Anyone of normal intelligence could also immediately see that this tiny old lady was fragile. Why manhandle her like that? It certainly wasn't necessary to do to get her into the police car. Also, why was this such a big deal "crime" when the Walmart staff took the items away from her before she left the store? She didn't actually "steal" anything. Fourteen freaking dollars worth of stuff that she never took out the door and they break her arm and leave her sit like that for hours with the broken arm handcuffed behind her back. Sociopath scum! He better hope he doesn’t end up with dementia when he gets older and gets treated like how he treated her with a broken arm, dislocated shoulder with police officers laughing at him because they were able to body slam him at 73 years old! And also denying him medical care for 6 hours. He better hope that doesn’t happen to him. He isn’t sorry for what he did. He was sorry he got caught. Big difference!

Dementia patients can be a handful. One of my cousins was caring for her mother who is almost 90 now. Here is an example of how it should be done. My aunt slipped out of the house and walked about 1/4 mile to a local convenience store and stole something. The clerk did nothing but call the cops and they responded and stopped her. In this case, the cop understood her condition by direct observation and carefully placed her in his car. He had no idea where she lived and the store clerk did not either so he took her to his station and got some help to care for her. My cousin became frantic and after searching all around her home called the cops. Mother and daughter were soon together. The items stolen were paid for. Then she and her brother and other sister decided enough was enough and she was moved into a nice place near Houston Texas.

That’s great. That’s how it should be done and also proves that not all police officers behave like this officer did with this woman. Most don’t but most won’t report each other in as well. The good old boys club. I was a medic for almost 10 years and in 2 counties I was treated terribly especially by the male medics. Both rural counties where one hater people who were not from there and apparently many didn’t want me there because I was from another state and I was female and the other place I had an abusive partner who tried to rape me and haze me. I ended up losing my job in the end because the captain and the other crew who were all male at that station joined in with the hazing and I got in trouble because I fell asleep and didn’t answer the phone next to the bed. That phone was for emergencies only but the boys kept calling it forcing me to pick it up in case there was an emergency. Eventually I fell asleep because I got used to the noise and fell asleep. They told the captain apparently that I was asleep and so he called and I didn’t answer and he came in and let me have it for not answering. He clearly knew what they were doing. Plus early in the day as I tried to rest in the room they kept throwing those little white fire crackers in the room causing a lot of smoke and noise. Add on my partner tried to rape me and threatened me if I said anything. I was off for a few days and came back to work and told I lost my job. I knew it was due to me not thoroughly enjoying the hazing and my partner pissed because I fought that SOB off and refused to let him assault me further yet he tried by jumping on top of me in the bed. Not just some police officers who behave like assholes. When I tried to file a complaint many years later I was told statute of limitations ran out for that SOB.
