Thank you for showing this great trial.
The police department needs to have a professional evaluation on HIRING. On Narcissist and EGO behavior on new hires. I completely understand that this type of person is drawn to these JOBS it's not just PD, all emergency services are attached to EGO trip people. But cops must have exams for their EGO. Before HIRING. Don't know what the future will bring since the Hiring process is so much Government control. How many more American people die by cop is it going to change. Before these Narcissistic behavior is rotted out, and shut out of becoming a cop.

These are the cops that need to be removed from service immediately -- those that cannot reason their bad choices and behaviors -- as asked about his 'B' grade and then re-evaluation of his grade but then refusing to re-assess his answer by deflect from it by saying, "oh, I thought it was a rhetorical question." Even when called out for violating police policy, he refuses to cave to his poor judgement. I believe he is just one of many cops who feel similarly in Law Enforcement; that they cannot make mistakes and should never (refuse) to criticize their own judgement, even when they purposefully violate the Law themselves believing in 'Qualified Immunity.'

I've never in my 8 years of being a cop, ever heard of, or seen, a firefighter conduct a welfare check, as if there's absolutely any chance of an unknown crime or possible violent person interaction, they stage and wait for us to clear the scene. I've seen a crew of 5 guys wait because a 70 year old "threatened to go physical". That being said, I always, loudly, announce "SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT", and bang on the doors/windows. I've always been more afraid of getting shot by a homeowner, than to stumble on a burglary in progress. I have a higher chance to get shot by a homeowner than someone committing a burglary in my opinion.
That being said, I've also never heard of someone failing their psych test and still getting hired. That's pretty much a death sentence if you fail the psych test here in California, for every agency you will ever apply to.

@@OneOddDuck You are totally misunderstanding my comment. Hopefully because I didn't explain it well enough, not because you are trying to be a jerk. let me spell it out more precisely.
Using a firearm correctly takes training. CORRECT training. Training that LEO's are supposed to get, but obviously are NOT, in this case, or at least not enough to overcome a youth spent playing shooting video games. Have you ever played any of the games I'm referring to? If yes, can you explain what the characters 'practice' in regards to the BASICS of firearm safety? In regards to proper target identification? Awareness of what's behind your target? Cover vs Concealment? The finality of shooting someone? The life-changing consequences of shooting someone? Making proper shoot/don't shoot decisions?
IMO police today are much, much too eager to resort to using their firearm, and as someone who had correct firearms training, way too often they show a gross and negligent understanding of the basics. And where does this come from? IF these LEO's received 'proper' training at their academy, it wasn't enough to overcome their prior years of "incorrect firearm use' that was 'taught' to them via firearms video games. Yes, they make the decision to shoot or not, but if 98% of your 'shooting behavior' doesn't include the safety basics, do you think the LOE is going to make a good shooting decision or a bad one? I say bad.
Does this explain my point better?

The reason it irks me is that in this day and age with video so cheap (and not prone to mistakes) that the courts continue to utilize fallible humans to record the proceedings. One reason is because the court reporters (about $160K/year) have a strong union. We could have two video cameras recording everything for a fraction of the cost....one hard-wired and one on battery back up. Between federal, state and municipal venues these court reporters cost us, the taxpayer, billions of dollars a year. She testified for herself. She didn't announce her presence on private property as law enforcement, sounds like she entered the private residence, different circumstances she might as well have been pulling the trigger. You or I would be charged as accomplices, wouldn't still be employed as an officer and would be cutting a deal to testify.
These are individual incidents for sure, but they don't happen in a vacuum. This isn't the first time the officer crossed the line and it wasn't just a random one off that allowed them to act the way they did.
Strange how the same behaviors occur across the country with law enforcement and yet it's just the few bad apples doing it. Any good cops on the force and this cop doesn't get to this point.
A police officer no less than any citizen may enter a property to knock on the front door and wait briefly for a reply. After that, their presence like that if any person begins to become unlawful. Entry into a backyard, especially through a gate requires a warrant or exigency, it's not a difficult concept unless you presume you have unlimited authority, then any law or restriction would become an issue and indecipherable. And here we are, cops just presuming they have authority to do whatever they want and if someone says anything or surprises the cop, officer safety, shoot first.
Seems like the officers attitude fit right in with the department and only becomes an issue when the department wants to separate themselves from the officer. Very convenient how the system works for its own benefit.
Black female victim, white officer. Clearly the victim didn't have much of a record if any. This case would not be divisive enough to fit the needs of BLM. Need to be more like George Floyd to get attention it seems. Gotta keep the divide wide to keep racism a profitable grift.

To testify against someone is to present evidence or testimony against someone or something as a witness in a trial.

The testing to get into the police for ex military should be harder than the average applicant. And I say this with the deepest respect to the military and ex military who do a great job and who do not have mental health problems that would prevent them from becoming police.
