You can see how Marco started talking to Billie to give her a bit more time to catch up. That's a mark of a true mentor.

@Pax Polaris I'm cryyyying xD
Matthew and Reynold both ended up in the Bottom 2 of this pressure test because of the fact that Matthew used a single cut of the lamb chop instead of a double cut whereas Reynold used the wrong side of the saddle due to which the size of the chop was massive. Thus, none of them were eliminated, but they didn't cook for the rest of the week thereby sending them straight to the final elimination challenge of the week. Billie was at the top of this pressure test as hers was declared a near identical copy of Marco's dish. Enjoy.....

You know, putting aside all the jokes and memes going around about Marco he is quite something to behold when he's at work. The level of presence he has, the intimidation factor, the authority he commands. It's all on entirely different level. Gordon can hurt people with his explosive language, but Marco can crush souls with that stare.
Yeah, when I heard of him, I thought he was more like Ramsay, but their styles are quite different. For me Marcos is way more like a real tutor than Gordon

That's not uncommon in kitchens and very much reminds me of many of my cooking years. Your hands and fingers get used to the heat and you some times simply need to undergo a bit of pain in order to get things done just how they need to be. Tools can be clunky so you might not always be able to use them to prepare something just the way you want it, they are also less precise.
@@Lucifermits1092 Yes you get used to it to a level that can be scary at times. Other professions involving intense heat, such as jewelry or forging, are extremely intense on your hands; one of my jewelry teacher could remove a small silver ingot from its mold with his bare hands...!!!
Imagine if Marco really made it in his own pace.
He would finish at least 80% quicker.
but then again hes probably made this dish plenty of times to be able to make it at a good pace.
He would leave all other chefs in the world in the dust. But then again, he is the grandfather of modern cuisine. He leads and everybody else follows. :)
He'd be eating it a long ago
They wouldve been completely left in the dust 😂
Marco is chill af while everyone is stressing out trying to keep up. He makes everything look easy.
thats 30+ Years of experience. He is a legend in the Cooking world and he shows it. The most amazing thing is how he chops ingredients into fine bits while not even looking at it.. thats such confidence in his Knife Work its down right intimidating.
lets not forget only marco knows what this dish is, while everyone else is playing catch up
@@SlowRkers in Australia masterchef they get personalized cooking classes and a range of cookbooks. They are also told before every challenge what they’re supposed to be cooking to prepare ahead of time. No other Masterchef contestants from other ones (us, canada, etc) get these advantages
I also work in the restaurant, when the restaurant is busy I don't hear my chef's orders at all because I am too focused on work, this makes me realize, saying "yes chef" is very important.

gordon did this too in the masterchef US... but for some reason... i just feel like marco is more calm in terms of cooking style (where he doesn't bounce around and try to do stuff quickly to kind of show off).... but then the pressure is 10 times bigger in this.. maybe it was the camera work... or may be marco is this much scarier without even having to yell at people..
Yes marco HAHAHA
Gordon and Marco have their own personas. Each is prestigious, but Marco taught Gordon and you just feel the weight of his prescence without him even speaking. Gordon's method is different buy still effective.
They both push the chefs to cook under pressure and keep their calm.

I find myself continually watching and rewatching MasterChef videos, specifically those from Australia. I love how everyone keeps striving to do their best while also learning from each other. The competitive spirit is there, but there's no cut-throat vibe. Judges and guest chefs give out legit critiques, but you always get the feeling that they do it to help and not to totally crush anyone's spirit.
What do you mean there's no cutthroat vibe? Marco is eating theirs souls with his eyes
@@malakarvonstroheim5372 nah, a year later tho it is joe from the american version of masterchef is drastically worse. but no doubt marco is terrifying
Joe in the American version comes off as a rude, pompous, and arrogant with a focus on throwing his weight around to try to prove how "smart" he is while breaking down contestants without an ounce of anything constructive. Not even a chef, riding the coattails of his mother and was only put on their to add unneeded drama to appease to what the producers thought would be more palatable to an American audience. Obnoxious. I hope he's not like that in real life but I'm not holding my breath.
@@ErikCPianomanI’ve heard he’s better these days, but I’ve also seen stuff where he’s acted like that outside of MC.
I love how Marco kept on checking on Billie when she was behind, asking Reynold how he's doing when he started feeling the pressure, and slowed down his plating sooooo much when he realized Matthew replated.
I don't know what the other comments are saying about Marco only slowing down for Billie. She fell behind way earlier than the other two. It's easier to prolong 10 steps than just 2 and given that Matthew fell behind during plating, it's amazing how slow Marco went just so he could finish
Marco: Camra man are watching .
Camra man: YES MARCO.

Marco: "Keep pushing! Keep pushing" *slows his own pace down* "how's it going billie? You alright billie? Keep going Billie! Youre doing well billie!"
Male contestant: "marco im behind"
Marco:
Derpyderp he slowed down when he saw that Matthew was replating. Just a bit, though.
If your a dude and behind, Marco just going to stare are you while he chops faster.
He knows she is the best and most deserving. Billie was at the top of this pressure test as hers was declared a near identical copy of Marco's dish
He also kept checking on Reynold throughout
He did check and slowed down a bit for the other two.
Not to mention, and this is just me: Billie started falling behind while the guys stayed with Marco. As Marco moved on, the guys began to fall back while Billie catched up almost perfectly. The way I see it, it just proved she was at least a bit better at working under pressure than Reynold and Matthew
The fact that Billie was able to catch up and win this pressure test is amazing!!
This is so intense it's like watching UA-cam tutorial without a pausing it.
Underated comment
This is what I love about Master Chef Australia, they really challange the contestant in terms of elevating their skill. Even they're under pressured and so intense, it's still in a positive way.
Marco “Yes Marco” Pierre White
Damn this is way more interesting and intense than Masterchef U.S, not just because of Marco's demeanor but also the way the test is conducted. And yet, Marco is also fair; he makes sure every contestant has the chance to see what is being done at every stage, and also asks for a response so he knows they've heard him. It's so well done, and you barely ever see this in Masterchef US; even when you do, it's much less intense, and yet probably uses 10x the editing.
Matthew: more butter is always good for the sauce, I trust my instinct.
Also Matthew: IT’S RUINING MY SAUCE!!
Matthew: "I've poached eggs before using my way and I trust my instincts."
Also Matthew: *fucks up poached egg*
Mom: "Awww look honey! Our baby is about to say his first words! I could cry-"
Marco: "Hey keep your eyes on me, I'm watching you."
Mom: "Yes Marco."
Marco's skill is on a whole another level compared to Gordon and it shows.
Everyone wants to rag on Marco's knorr sponsorships and his demo videos... But seeing Marco doing these challenges on Masterchef displays the level of technique, efficiency, and finesse he works at. And this is the Marco decades away from him actively heading a Michelin style restaurant. Always pleasant seeing MPW remind everyone how great and influential he was/is... Like watching Michael Jordan school an up and comer in a pick up game.
I mean he did teach Gordon so....
He is different in the actual kitchen just like Gordon.
Jayloyd23 your right just like other chefs did
He train gordon. He's a master of a master. So he's a grandmaster chef. 😬
marco's favorite technique is pointing out that he can chop finely while watching you
Marco is a good teacher, he can bring the best out of others without losing control and at the same time letting them do what they feel rather than imposing what he wants. I feel he has to go into teaching since its a skill not many can have.
Im here just because Reynold is here 😍
1:42 when he said "yep" instead of "yes" I held my breath for a second, expecting a kitchen knife to come flying into his chest
Edit: oh god they're all doing it now
Holy crap, Masterchef US is really bad compared to Australia and Canada.
Exactly. Judges are bullies actually in MC US.
I've started to believe it as well. Also, the contestants are wildly more talented to begin with. Their plating and flavor profiles are more advanced as home chefs in AU. I don't often see many pretty plates in the US version. Also the judges and masterclass demonstrations are fit to truly educate the chefs and viewers alike.
I agree. the US version seems to focus more on the drama between the contestant. Whilst the Australian version it is about the cooking.
@@bloodyfitnerd1947 drama always sells in US .. it depends on the viewers .. just like how they like Gordon shouting at people.

Masterchef Australia really does come up with the most exciting challenges
I've watched all the seasons of Masterchef USA and I have to admit that I've never seen anything this tense before. Marco is a true ninja in the kitchen and yes I'm aware that he's the teacher of Gordon.
In Masterchef USA, Gordon usually does his tutorial that often lasts no longer than 10 minutes and then makes the contestants do the same exact dish/method which I think is more challenging because they're not following along as the contestant are doing here alongside Marco.
However, I'm also aware that Marco expects them to give him a presentable and passable dish worth of his 3 Michelin stars -- which is a very strong demand for anyone. One major difference between Marco and Ramsey is that Marco seems to be more of a teacher but with the same amount of scariness. I hope Masterchef USA brings in Marco sometime.
@JerzeVillain what he did to Marco is unforgivable he is absolutely terrible
The best mentor, Mr. Marco.. I respect this man on another level..
It's amazing to think that Marco made Gordan Ramsay the chef he is today.
