Love this movie! You did a GREAT job on the commentary. You said you love Kurt Russell. Best baseball movie ever IMO is The Battered Bastards Of Baseball. Best sports movie no one has heard of. Its a documentary and its on Netflix. Kurt & his father Bing are the focus of this epic movie. Its a MUST see. I promise you as much as you like Kurt now you will like him even more after viewing this. Thank you for reviewing Miracle.
I can tell you're a sports fan extremely knowledgeable the psychology of herb I hope you I hope you do coach of kids team someday it'll be the most rewarding than you will ever do God bless
Everybody says that Kurt Russell nailed Herb Brooks' character. The movie was very accurate to reality. To this day there are only two USA Olympic hockey teams to win gold, 1960 & 1980.
The BEST and most unlikely real sports story that EVER HAPPENED in all of sports. I was 15 and I cried like a baby when this game finished. It was THAT important.
The movie was an amazing feeling to me, which makes me jealous I didn’t get to see it unfold in the moment. Such an amazing story on and off the ice. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched this since this video. Thank you for sharing your story!
Scheduling the soviets before the olympics was absolutely brilliant!! When they play them again in the olympics, there is no surprises.. the team knows how fast they played, how physical they were.. there is no adjustment period to figure things out...absolutely brilliant!
My understanding is that part of Brooks’ reason for doing that was to make the Soviets overconfident. He told the team before the exhibition game to “just have fun”. He wanted them to get blown out just in case they got to play them for real.
Great reaction. Just subbed, and wanted to suggest another great true Olympic story called "Without Limits" from 1994 I believe, it's about Steve Prefontaine. Amazing life and movie
Al Michaels was the play-by-play announcer for ABC in the 1980 Winter Olympics with Ken Dryden as the color commentator. When casting this movie, they sought out hockey players that had the acting skill versus actors who could skate. That made the action scenes more believable. They actually studied key plays of the games for accuracy.
I absolutely loved everything about this movie. I’ve watched it multiple times since I uploaded it and it gets better every time. I feel like when Herb is being strict, now I’m just like “ Oh Herb!” 🤣
I played hockey in HS. I was 21 in 1980 when this game was played and watched it live. I saw this in the theater when this movie came out and was moved emotionally and get choked up every time I watch it to this day.
If you are interested in hearing more about the real story (even though this film is pretty accurate), Julian Edelman just had Jim Craig on his Podcast (Games with Names) talking about the whole thing.
The speech was given word for word true to Herb's actual speech. People forget the next game won the gold and the best Herb quote came from the speech during the second intermission when the US was down 2-1, he walked in to the locker room and said "If you lose this game, you'll take it to your graves." Then paused, took a few steps, turned around and said, "Your fucking graves," and walked out.
That is so brutal…but then…to come back and bring it full circle might be an even better feeling in the end. Either way, what an impactful coach on and off the ice 🫡
Craig wanted to be kicked off the team so he can go to pro hockey and support his dad who Just lost his job. Herb brooks took out a personal loan to give to the dad. He said a kid giving a chance to play for his country to support his family is the kid he wants.
Actually, Al Micheals went into the recording booth to record the play by play for the movie. The call he made at the end "Do you believe in miracles? Yes!" was from the original.

I would love to do that in my spare time. Thank you for saying that I really appreciate it

I personally only seen a little bit of the real Herb Brooks, but Kurt’s portrayal was so believable i felt like it wasn’t him at all anymore lol
Shoulda been 2010 too. Stupid Sid.

Kurt Russell is so excellent that you forget that he isn't a coach!
100%, what an absolute legend!
I love this movie! One of my favorite facts is that Billy Schneider got to play his dad Buzz in the film (one of the coneheads)
That’s what I’m talking about! I love movie facts and tidbits. Thank you!
Easier to teach hockey players to act that you teach actors to play hockey

Thank you! I love sports films, especially the ones that lean to the true story side

The only people that saw this game live, were at the rink that evening.
That "is his name Crouton" had me ROLLING 🤣 And, the I can't yell or it will start a chain reaction" 😂 cause my pets do same!

Them Soviets do love themselves some salad! 😂😂😂
That was what through my feeble mind when he said that 👍

100% interested in hearing that. Thank you for the heads up, I appreciate it

That is so good. The man of few words but so powerful. Time to watch it again 🤣
Jimmy Craig had 39 saves in that game.
Brooks was kicked off the 1960 team because they brought a new guy in a week before the games

By the way every hockey player was a real hockey player no actors it was easier to teach hockey players to act
The best reaction I’ve seen thus far
Wow thank you, I really appreciate that...
It was a mix o f the orginal broadcast and AL Michael redoing it.
Such a good idea to give it the same intensity
Rizo's go ahead goal was actually a wrist shot, not a slap shot.
Craig wanted to be kicked off the team so he can go to pro hockey and support his dad who Just lost his job. Herb brooks took out a personal loan to give to the dad. He said a kid giving a chance to play for his country to support his family is the kid he wants.
The broadcasts were the originals
I love that they did that. It gave me goosebumps
