Why I chose the Harley Dyna Low Rider S

  • In this video, I go over some of the reasoning behind why I traded in my Iron 883 and upgraded to the Harley-Davidson Low Rider S.
    Here's a run down:
1.) This bike just looks sick. Black and gold... it's stylish, sleek, and menacing! Top marks on the design note.
2.) The POWER! Seriously tons of power on demand from the 110 cubic inch power plant they've dropped into this thing. You can cruise and take it easy if you want, or twist the wrist a bit more and unleash it's inner monster!
3.) Finances: They gave me quite a bit for my trade in and came down to what I was asking + hooked it up! (Warranty, gift card, and more!) They really took care of me and worked with me to send me home with this bike!
4.) Aftermarket options: As with most Harley's, there's a ton of aftermarket options to customize the bike and make it your own. I've already done Bassani exhaust, V&H FP3, LED signals, LED Daymaker style Headlight, swingarm bag, headlight grille, and I've got a box of goodies in the garage just waiting to go on to continue the customization!
5.) The feeling of the bike / handling! I love the fact that vs other Low Riders, the Low Rider S comes with the 110, drag bars, and mid controls. As per my previous bike, I'm a fan of drag bars and mids. To me, it makes the bike feel more sporty, and it feels just as nimble as the Sportster... just with an 1800cc engine instead. It's like a Sportster, but on steroids... it's a total beast.
A few of my additional thoughts and likings on the Low Rider S:
    - Dyna platform, tried and proven
    - 6 Speed transmission! Awesome for interstate and highway runs!
    - The 110ci engine has been in Harley's line up for 10 years in the CVO models, so they're not a new production engine, meaning less bugs and problems to work out of them.
    - Good stopping power w/ the dual disc brakes
    - Keyfob, awesome, just get on and go!
    - Cruise control & ABS!
    - Security system
    - As much as I didn't like it at first... the headlight fairing! Really helps w/ the wind on longer rides, don't take wind to the helmet near as much.
I'm sure more will come up, and I'll be sure to update the channel as they do, but that's some of my thoughts on the bike for now!
Edit: Special shout out to Ethandobad on iG for the info on the bike before I purchased it!
As always, thanks for tuning in all! Be sure to Like / Comment / Subscribe!
Till next time, you all ride safe out there, & stay vigilant!
    Deuces!

Amount you pay every month is irrelevant.. they may have just stretched out length of the loan and you will end up paying alot of interest to them. Credit score just means you love to borrow and repay $. But to each there own, if u are ok with the terms of loan then more power to you.
      Beautiful bike 👍

Thanks for this video - I'm an Iron 883 rider but am renting the Dyna Low Rider for vacation touring in about a week. If I hit the highway/interstate more often, I'd make this vacation a prospective new bike experiment. But for city driving I think I'll stick with a sporty and bore for 1200. Smaller, leaner, more agile, and most importantly, easier to squish between cars for free parking!

Dig that Low Rider-S exhaust note on my 85-watt PC setup! Your fly screen does help relieve the 'chest punch' at highway speeds. And I-4 is always an obstacle course in progress.

I see you down shifted on the Interstate to 5th gear for a quick acceleration. on the new M8 114 you don't have to do that. just twist the throttle and the torque is unbelievable. nice ride though. the 114 engine is so nice.

    • @glenndavis2762
      @glenndavis2762 6 років тому

keep the engine above 2500 to 3000 rpm when pulling up hills - no lugging, even if you feel it has the torque - fast way to kill the Harley lower ends.

Your videos are slowly convincing me to buy a Harley. I've always been more of a naked bike/sport bike guy. I really enjoyed watching your sportster videos and I'm sure I'm going to love the Dyna videos. I've been eyeing up a few used sportsters on the classifieds. I always liked Harleys. I even rode a Suzuki cruiser for a couple of months and I really enjoyed it, unfortunately that bike was written off... oops.

      @BlockheadMoto  7 років тому +3

Stephen Schneider Cool to hear sir! I've got love for naked and sport bikes for sure, hence owning an R6 as well, but sometimes you just want to cruise. Different mood and style when you're on a cruiser, and still just as fun but in a different yet similar way. Ride safe sir! :)

Take a look at the HD Roadster...you can get clip ons and rear set foot controls as a factory option. It'll give you the naked bike feel, but on a 1200 Sportster. It's a little confusing to the brain when you first get on though...

    Thumbs up on the vid.
Getting caught up, as I had some business I was taking care of. And the selling of the 883 mad me all sad in the 'feels'. LOL. Hope you are well, through the Hurricane. Had a business associate who was in Southern FL. Thankfully, he's ok and his properties are ok though they took the full eye-wall, straight to the face. But that area is pretty tore up. Hope you are well. Hope your family is well ( _saw that bit on your Dad_ )
I think my stance was pretty well stated. You ride whatever bike you want, however you want to ride it without endangering others, because I'm a firm believer in personal freedoms, choice, and taste. Anyone who says otherwise ... is an idiot.
I can see the appeal of the power. But honestly? Though you may do it up better? That bike just doesn't look ... SIC ... as did the 883. The way you customized that 883 was one of the prettiest bikes I'd seen in quite a while. As an Indian fan? That's saying something. I just miss seeing that really ... really pretty bike.
The Lowrider ... at least at this point? It just isn't doing it for me looks wise.
But that's just my two pennies. Which isn't worth much. :)

Bought a 2017 Forty Eight last month brand new. Ive had it for 4 weeks, and am going in tomorrow to my Harley Dealership to trade it in for a Lowrider S. Love the Forty eight, it just feels like its not enough bike for me. I feel stupid, but figured i would do it now while the bike only has 150 miles on it, and is pretty much brand new. Hoping they dont rape me on the trade in. Any suggestions as far as haggling? My goal is to get my $6,000 down back, and break even. Im going to put the $6K towards the Lowrider S , and add and put an additional $2K down. I know you arent disclosing what the specifics of your trade was, but if you have any suggestions lemme know! Love the vids, thanks man!

I currently own a 2016 Motto Gui V7II Stone. It is at the moment in the shop due to a woman hitting me in an intersection about a week ago. Anyway, I test rode a new Harley Low Rider about a month ago (going to be buying a second soon, plan on keeping the Goose). I also test rode a 2017 Triumph Bonneville T-120. The Low Rider was very comfortable but wierd (to me) the riding position (feet forward). The Triumph was amazingly smooth and also comfortable and the riding position more familiar to me. Also the Harley was quite noisy (to me at least) and vibrated noticeably compared to the Triumph. Also the weight of the Harely ... Of course the Triumph is no feather either (672lb Harely versus around 540lbs of the Triumph (my Goose weighs about 440lb wet). I love the looks of both the Harely and Triumph. But all in all the Harley seems primitive when compared to the Triumph overall. Difficult decision for me to make somewhat. Cannot afford both the Harely and the Triumph haha. I was palnning on a cross country trip on my Goose this summer, but hey, shit happens. So maybe next summer. Or maybe on the Triumph or Harley, depending on which one I buy. And in the end ... the Motorcycle one buys is equal to the money they have to spend, hahahahaha .. or something like that ;-)

Yea sportsters are good bike but putting big bore kids in them make the less reliable engines because they won't hold together which is why Harley won't make a bigger cc sportster then 1200

Test rode a low rider s with 1400 miles on it. They wanted $15k for it. Said nope and walked out. For that kind of money I'd expect heated grips and traction control. No wonder kids aren't buying Harleys

Congrats on the new ride. In 1999 I traded my 98 Sportster 1200C for a 93 Dyna Low Rider. I put 22,000 miles on that bike in 2 years. It was a lot of fun. Since then, I have had 2 Buell XBs, the S and the SS, which are both gone now. I just got my Roadster back from the 1K service. I keep coming back to the XL platform, there's just something about them.
I also have an FLHR for the highway, and touring. Love that bike as well, but it's not nearly as much fun as the Toadie. Stay safe, knees in the breeze.

I just got my first harley, 2014 883 iron. I wanted the lowrider s but I'm only 20 and have been living on my own since I was 17. as much as I wanted it i didn't need an $18k bike. the 883 was a small downgrade from my 1100 but the fact that its fuel injected and has the keyless ignition and security system plus other bells and whistles made me fall in love with it.... some day ill have the lowrider though

I didn't realize you bought the Low Rider S. Must been so dissapointed you getting rid of the Iron, I didn't pay attention. I saw one, Low Rider S, at a Harley in Smithfield, NC, which us about 40 miles of my home, and it was an awesome bike. At the time, I didn't have my endorsement yet so I couldn't take it for a test ride, but I sure wish I coukd have. Its a beautiful bike and fits me well. I only 5'8" 180#, and I think I still need some more experiance on my Iron before I step up to the Low Rider S.

You have me thinking, I'm pondering my next build project and was thinking of an 883 with a 90" Hammer kit that would bring the motor up to 1475cc, but with a Dyna stock 110" I'm already @ 1800cc without any mods, plus a 6 gear transmission! Another consideration is that with an 883 registration & monthly insurance is really cheap when compared to an OEM Dyna 110. All worthy of contemplation, but you're in a unique situation having directly moved from your Iron to a much more performance chassis in the Dyna. What are your thoughts about handling and the weight comparisons? How much do you feel the weight of the Dygn vs the light and nibleness of the sportster frame?

NIce video I have FXDL S myself, as you said, I was attracted to it for the looks - style. but, you keep mentioning "power", this bike - stock - has only about 95 HP, I think, it's the torque! Stock is about 114 Lb/f... Keep it rubber down!

When I was test riding at our local harley demo days, the salesman was really trying to get me to ride a dyna. I went there to ride the Street Glide, Road King, Soft Tail and Road Glide. I ran out of time and couldn't go back on Sunday, but I did ride the Road Glide, the Soft Tail Deluxe, and the Road King. I absolutely loved the Road King with the new suspension and the Milwaukee 8 motor.
Still, it wasn't enough to pry me away from my Aero 1100. Plus, being a former harley rider, I remember all the reliability issues I had with them. Of course they were old school, and the new bikes are light years better. If I was to buy a new bike, it would be an Indian.

I'm thinking of getting a harley next month i'm 21 5'10'' 95kg i've been choosing between a iron 883 and a dyna low rider s. I live in the philippines where there are lots of speed bumps and im planning on using it to go to college, work and for touring. Ive never ridden a manual motorcycle before but i used to own a yamaha mio automatic and i watched tons of how to ride videos on youtube i know its not advisable but there are no msf courses here. Any suggestions or tips on what to get ?

Glad that you're enjoying the bike man. I'm getting into riding and made a poor decision buying my first bike. I love cruisers, but was on a budget, so I bought a cheap cruiser that I thought looked cool. Turns out it's reall uncomfortable for me and I'm not really motivated to learn on it. Looking to maybe trade it in and finance a Harley street500. There's a 650cc cap on learner bike riders here in NSW Australia :/

Hi, I've recently passed my bike test in the UK and would love a Harley, I've made comments
On Facebook about buying one and received negative comments about reliability issues, not
Being mechanically minded this is giving me second thoughts, can you Harley riders out there
Put my mind at rest, I really want one.

I absolutely love the Dynas and if I were to ever change thats where I'd go, but I really love my Sportster ,it isn't the Iron model( nothing against the Irons, i just liked the regular 883 model better, mines a 2004) and started as a 883 and i added the 1200 kit to it after a couple years . Between that and some aftermarket pipes ,air cleaner and rear shocks it has power to " keep up " with the boys easily and the ride is good enough to allow me to ride from Panama City Beach ( Holla Fla boyz!!) twice now. I love looking at all the new Models but my sporty is not only my bike , it's my best damn friend as well and i don't see me ever gettin rid of it .,too many good rides and fond memories, plus I have after years gotten the look i wanted and the performance and ride to match.Thats the great thing about a Harley, it can really be a "lifetime" bike , and thats not something you can say about every machine. Ride safe out there !

FiVECENTS Two completely different bikes. LRS is not as nimble as the Roadster, won't get as much lean on it either. The mid controls are more comfortable on the LRS. Huge power difference. LRS is a lot more comfortable to me. I love the looks of both the LRS and Roadster. Both sick bikes. End of the day, I traded in my Roadster for the LRS and am very pleased with my decision.

i mean no disrespect its just kinda funny to me when you newer riders talk about riding fast and the wind being brutal or the pipes being loud needing ear plugs i hardly ever run a windshield the only times is when its really buggie most of the time not even then i run no baffles at all on my pretty healthy twin cam stroker yes its a dyna wide glide and a dyna or fxr is the only bikes i will ride they are nimble compared to the touring bikes and more room and more comfortable than the sporty like i said at the first no disrespect i have been riding off and on for over 30 years so kinda an old fart and just growed up without all that stuff and probably never will have that stuff but anyway enjoy your channel just subscribed be safe out there at have lots of fun GOD bless

I have been really looking at the Soft tail lowrider and the Dyna lowrider. what are your opinions on the 2? From what i hear the Dyna edges the soft tail performance wise. But other then that both are comfortable to ride and have lots of power. I have been eyeballing the soft tail lowrider with that military green paint job with the star on the tank. (Born on Nov 11 so i have a huge respect and love for the military past and present) Just want your opinion of the 2 low riders.

Gonna be honest, I work for a Dealer Management System. When you give them a number they have a tool that they can put what you're willing to pay into and it'll show them the options to get the payment at that price. That's probably why they gave you more on trade in, that and Harley has been trying to crank out more sales and has been backing dealers for more on trade in.
