Transformers 2022. He Died 3 Times Before Being Cut from the Movies. What's going on guys? RBG here bringing you another video of Transformers Movie Universe History. And today I wanted to talk about the Autobot who died before he made his official debut in Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. Which character am I talking about? I'm talking about Breakaway. A name you would think holds weight especially since we had just saw an Aerial bot showcase a breakaway performance in the first film. But this character for whatever reason was featured in everything related to Revenge of the Fallen except for the actual movie. Its become reoccurring trend for Transformers who never saw the light of day on the silver screen would still get their own toys that were associated with a movie. We've seen this done with characters like Thundercracker who was never featured in any of Michael Bay's TF films. But he had multiple figures based on that specific continuity. There have been many instances of this where we drip fed characters we wished made it on the live action roster. Whether it be through the toys, tie-in comics, or video games. And Breakaway has had all of those things. But he's different from all of the other Transformers who're peppered in the Bay continuity. He wasn't just a simple promotion. He was actually supposed to be in Transformers Revenge of the Fallen.

Funny side story, I actually worked on the game ROTF and I worked on writing dialog for Breakaway in the MP mode. Obviously we took alot of inspiration from Maverick in the original Top Gun. He was one of the funnest character I’ve ever had to contribute too and really wish he had made it to the movie. Great video and to this day wish he had gotten some screen time.
That's dope! I always thought he exuded Marverick's charisma! That would've translated well if he was introduced in the Live Action movies.
Y’all’s work on that game is what got me into the franchise. I have a lot of fond memories playing it throughout the years.
That was and still is one of my favorite TF games! I really enjoyed it and Breakaway.
Thank you for being apart of making such a unit of a game. The game literally defined my Child hood in the late 2009-2010. I wanna give my thanks🙏🏾🙏🏾
Dude, thanks SO MUCH for making the Rotf game, it's one of my all time favorites. I still play it to this day.
His characterization of being very courageous and heroic is pretty awesome for a side character, I particularly love the first scenario where he was present to prevent Megatron's ressurection
They really could've used him in the movies during that scene. The Fallen probably would've killed him once he landed on earth though.
@@RandomBlackGamer nar it would be kind of sad but I would say he would die during the resurrection and potentially some of his part would of been used to repair megatron, why because it's Michael Bay he does like automotive who can fly, jet fire, jet convoy, and the wing pack prime had all where used once and that's it, jet fire in the bay verse was an extremely old and knew stuff the young autobots knew so their could of been a chance he could of combined with prime without dieing but nope, still doesn't answer the question of how did jetfire's parts work for optimus when they used magnification to attach them
Too bad he’s not even in the comics
This Autobot couldn't catch a break. And people wonder why we never had any Aerial Autobots in the Live Action Bay Movies.
@@Mattxoxo623 did you watch the video? I mentioned all of this. I said Jetfire died shortly after he defected to the Autobots. Jetpowered Optimus Prime was the only 1. But he wasn't necessarily an aerial bot. Drift can only fly when he's in helicopter mode...
Hey man did you hear about them bringing back wfc and foc servers for PC and PS3.
And he needs to breakaway
@@michaellucas3907 yeah. That's awesome.
What about jet fire other than the fact he was a former deception and even older than he was in G1
I personally think that if breakaway was added into the film's he'll be treated like half the autobots that barley get any character development or screen time. Like the Arcee sisters, dino, que, etc. They could do something cool with him, but I doubt that.
You're right. I would've loved to see him try to stop the Decepticon from resurrecting Megatron though.
Yeah they waste all the screen time doing goofy 'jokes' and love triangles with the human cast, and treat the transformers as inanimate objects (cars) half the time they are on screen.
@@FureyinHD agreed, much like the monsterverse, we wanna see the big robots to big robot stuff, not love triangles and humen stuff, tho a humen element is needed obviously, but the transformers should have been the main focus
Very cool design, he really looks like a real mech and a pilot, the piece on top of his head looks like a helmet. The main problem is that plane cone sticking out of his tummy, and maybe his head can be higher up
I know right? Dude would literally steal every scene if he was actually in the movies. I know my eyes were always glued to him anytime I played the games.
I actually like that though, it means that the autobots can have bestial designs as well as decepticons
He looks like sumn outta Patlabor
Great update to the simple jet front being the chest
Yeah, I remember. Poor Breakaway, and he was my favorite flying character in Movieverse too. :/
Yeah it sucks that Bay and the writers didn't want to put him in. I guess they didn't want him to overshadow Jetpowered Optimus.
@@RandomBlackGamer Same goes for Jolt, one of the most broken characters having only 2 seconds in the movie
I really wish aerialbots like Breakaway had been included in Michael Bay's Transformers. It would have added more depth to the story being told onscreen. It would have been nice to see Silverbolt being included as well as a foil to Starscream.
Same. If there was anytime to include them Revenge of the Fallen was that time. Especially since the Autobots most likely had access to miliary jets via NEST.
Shame he never got a chance to shine in the movies. Would’ve been cool to see him get into a dogfight with Starscream at some point. And hey, maybe Scream could’ve killed him at the end of ROTF or in Dark of the Moon, to raise the stakes and give him something to do besides stupidly getting his head blown off by Actual Cannibal Shia LaBeouf.
Yeah he would've made for an awesome arch enemy for Starscream. Seems like Michael Bay was still hooked on the ideas of the Military style transformers being Decepticons. Which is ironic since we got Hound years later.
@@RandomBlackGamer come on. It's Michael bay we're talking about. Can you *really* count on him to be consistent?
@@jr9529 yes, but only explosions
It’s wild how close his first & only deluxe figure was to the cg model.
@@jr9529 quieras decir Transformers nunca fue consistente, eso ya es algo de la franquicia.
Still got his figure. One of the cooler designs from the movieverse. Reminds me of a Macross between gerwalk and robot mode.
I know right? He looks like something from a Japanese anime.
I have a figure of him too, but the tail fins are missing.
I still have his original toy from 2009, and I had a ton of fun playing as him in the ROTF video game. His design was always endearing to me, mostly ‘cuz of the head design and the way he armature folds the wings over his back. It’s a shame that he wasn’t in the films and just got shafted everywhere else.
In the games, I could tell he was an expert battle strategist, and easily one of the fastest Autobots on the team thanks to his jet modes. Something like that would’ve been great for the Autobots, especially for an organized military army like NEST.
His original idea was to be used in the DS game so they could just recycle starscream levels, and that's a part of why they tried to re-insert him, as the toy was alredy inserted in the production main line.
Altho, he had "won't reach the end of the movie" wrote all over him, so I think that either he would have been taken down by megatronus, or just sentinel prime'd in the following film
Yeah I can see him getting taken out by Megatronus or Megatron after he was brought back to life.
And I thought Cliffjumper had the most deaths.
Lmao Breakway steps in and says "hold my spark bruh"
Why do people keep saying that he’s only had like 2
I mained him in the revenge of the fallen game, he’s just awesome and definitely one of my favourite Autobots. As for the Decepticon side I mained Blackout and he’s been my favourite Decepticon since the first movie.
Oh yeah. I remember in “The Basics On Getaway” Breakaway was used for the character when they lost the trademark. The movies had 2 Breakaways, one a vehicle like the original and this Aerialbot.
He’s got a cool design, looking like a pilot but a bulky build. He would be an awesome *Wrecker* in future media with that look.
I kinda want him to have a Minicon partner for some reason. Maybe a Targetmaster style Wrecker? A high power rail gun or a sniper rifle like in the one game. Oh have the Minicon turn into the cockpit and nosecone so they’re a more cohesive Targetmaster figure instead of just awkwardly plugged in and there’s just a brick of plastic sitting on him.
Do you mean to give the F-35 an EML?
It’s nice see Long haul getting a moment, especially against a formable autobot like Breakaway. Despite how many look-alikes that this guy has in these movies, I tend to forgot that he exist, and I tend to forgot that he even killed arcee if I remember correctly.
Technically canopy from the last knight was meant to be a flyer, yet we never seen his alt mode in the film
Randomly found this channel and even though I sold the vast majority of my Transformers a couple years ago, I kept Breakaway along with a couple others. Idk why but he holds weird sentimental value to me. I never owned a proper Starscream, so he served as my cool Jetplane Transformer for the longest time. Cool to see this info on him as I never even knew his name until now.
I was literally just thinking about this guy the other day. I'm hoping he comes back in the new continuity with Rise of the beasts or any of the new transformers cartoons announced.
Honestly breakaway silverbolt and air raid shouldve been in the scene where megs gets revived. In game it was a whole base but in movie just a simple submarine was for deep 6. Couldve been alot more intense
Breakaway deserves a new toy.
Cool vid I’m always so impressed by your editing skills
Thanks. I try to provide the best visuals to go with my commentary.
Nice part of Transformers 2022 He Died 3 Times Before Being Cut from the Movies keep it up working hard now as well and stay safe and till all are one then transform and roll out
There are so many aviation based transformers like Wind Blade or Skyfire, but I’ll admit Breakaway was a cool character, shame he never made the cut
Cool video, I had no idea about breakaway at all.
With all that, I am starting to think that Breakaway didn't die at all. Like you said, Breakaway couldn't have died in the Revenge of the Fallen video game. He didn't die to Grindor, because he would be the only Autobot to take part in the Deep-6 battle. And he would be on a side mission destroying two probes in the East Coast city. Both missions took place after the Hunt for Breakaway mission. I can think of a concept story that would explain this. After being beaten by Grindor, Breakaway didn't die and he was just considerably damaged. He would be rescued and recovered by Bumblebee, Ratchet, and Ironhide. After they recovered him and brought him back to base, Ratchet repaired Breakaway and had him complete an physcial overhaul like Ironhide. After being accepted to fight again, Breakaway would be sent to Deep-6 .
He couldn't have died in the "Neferious" series of IDW movie comics, because he would return in the Dark of the Moon video game. Here's how I think that Breakaway survived. After being shot by Soundwave, he was most likely blown apart. But he would pull a Last Knight Bumblebee move and pulled himself back together while in mid-air. That would explain why Optimus Prime and the Autobots were not as concerned for Breakaway. They most likely knew that Breakaway would literally pull himself together.
It could be possible that Breakaway could have died in the Dark of the Moon video game when he was shot down by Starscream and blew up in mid-air. Though; because he was blasted apart in the "Neferious" IDW Movie comic series, he would have pulled the Last Knight Bumblebee move again.
I personally think Breakaway having the same ability as Bumblebee in the Last Knight makes the most sense and it is the best explanation to how Breakaway survived getting blowed apart in "Neferious" and he would mostly likely survive the events of the Dark of the Moon video game.
As for if Silverbolt, Air Raid, other Aerialbots, and Stratosphere survived too, that would be a discussion for a different time.
Breakaway’s arm wields a 25mm GAU-22 Equalizer machine gun.
And well… his alt-mode is an F-35 Lightning ii but I feel it’s the A variant in TF2 but then became the B variant in TF3 due to “stealth (not stealth)” mode where jets can have STOVL modes
Every Bayformers fan deserves to have a version of this guy's toy. It's not super well articulated, but it is a beautiful piece from the absolute PEAK of transformers engineering.
I hope we see more Aerialbots in the new Transformers films. I kinda wanna see Jetfire in the films as an F-14 Super Tomcat with a white and red color scheme just like in Forged To Fight and his G1 style as well as the other Aerialbots from Generation 1.
Out of all the Bayverse designs, Breakaways' was always my favorite, as well as the one thats stayed in my mind for all these years. I remember constanly going to the transformers section at walmart, hoping to see the toy, almost got it too, but the packaging was busted.
Regarding your question at the end I think Breakaway would have been a welcomed addition to the cast, considering he would have been the Autobots sole aerialbot.
I can imagine him having a couple scenes providing air support to the Autobots and their human allies, as well as having a few dogfights with the metal dorito. Heck maybe in onc scene they could have had him be an instructor for human pilots in human/seeker combat situations.
As always great video, I do wish to see a clip of unicrons design other than that keep up the grind Ur the best 💯
You should talk about Salvage next
I still have the original Breakaway toy, it’s one of the few movieverse Transformers I really like, and I always liked his look, his alt-mode (F-35) and his lore;(Autobot flyer that moves fast instead of fancy), so yeah, I’m a fan☺️
I really liked his toy, and I had fun replaying his mission in the ROTF DS game
it would've been awesome if they did add breakaway and springer on rotf just imagine how much help the autobots would get if they were there
Woah that brought me memories when I found an asked to buy breakaway when I was a kid real like his design
It's quite astonishing that Breakaway was so close to being included in the ROTF movie, got removed at the last minute, and somehow Jolt made it into the film at the last minute.
This autobot is my first rotf autobot figure. I am excited seeing the guy but I am disappointed it did not show up!
Had his action figure of him ,never knew who he was but was my favorite
if I remember correctly the deception campaign in rotf game was an alternate story for the deception side like the first movie game where the bith autobots and deceptions campaigns took different routes while the third game was meant to follow the movies unlike the two before it
The design, very epic the cockpit window could be a face shield from bullets and other incoming debris this is one of the things I love about bay cgi design
I really like this video
I clicked so fast on this video because I have the ROTF toy of this guy and I wanted to know more about breakaway
I had the Thrust recolor figure, and that was a really cool mold. Breakaway was really fun to use in the games too. Shame.
I remember this Toy, i still have him. When I first got him, I thought he was an Arielbot and assume he an modern version of one and gave him a name as such. I didn't know his real name at the time
I own the version of him with the desert camo. I never knew he was considered for the movies at one point
It’s a shame that he wasn’t in the film he would have been cool to be in the movie
also, i would like to see Skydive come into the bayverse. and cosmos. so much jet and spacecraft bots that can be played for nostalgia.
He sounds like an awesome character and I would’ve loved to of seen him because they definitely needed more air support
I think I just found my new Favorite Autoboys..
It's entirely possible that Breakaway wasn't killed in the fights with Grindor or Starscream. Stasis Lock often looks like death in the franchise, but is more like going comatose while awaiting repairs. And he might not even have gone into stasis lock after getting shot down by Starscream; just rendered unable to fly.
Seems reasonable to me. But maybe the games could have acknowledged that he "almost died" somehow.
As a side note, if we get another flying autobot in the movie continuity, I'd want Powerglide in his A-10 Thunderbolt form. And bring in Warpath to complement him. Give the Autobots some serious firepower.
I am very sure that Breakaway didn't die at all. If he ends up getting blown up and blown apart, he can apparently pull himself together like Bumblebee in the Last Knight. That is my best explanation on how Breakaway survived getting blown up in the "Neferious" series of IDW Movie comics and it would definitely allow him to survive the events of the Dark of the Moon video game!
I remember him from the RotF DS game, thought it was a pretty cool design
Breakaway didn’t possess my favorite gameplay in ROTF but he was fun to be around, I was happy I didn’t have to listen to Skidds or Mudflap and rather this cool jet fella in the game. Only thing I didn’t like about him was his secondary weapon hand his heavy move. I think he should’ve had some kicks and a nice blaster like Jazz’s DLC weapon
He may not have made it to the movies, but at least he got some much deserved attention in the ROTF Game.
Makes me wish Powerglide could've made an appearance as an A-10 Thunderbolt II, complete with GAU-8 Avenger rotary cannon.
Breakaway is my favorite Aerial Autobot and I like his design and alt mode
I like the design quite a lot
I think it's almost better that Breakaway got his limelight in the game instead. He was pretty fun to play.
I have the ROTF toy model "Thrust" and he actually kind look like breakaway.
I like the idea of an Autobot Jets military jet Transformer
Thought I saw something that Breakaway was getting a Signature Series figure
I hope we'll eitheir get a studio series version of him or a 3rd party remake of his toy.
You can tell they didn't do much homework when creating his bio as the F35 is not that fast of a jet compared to jets from 40 years ago like the Tomcat, F4, and Migs etc. The YF 23 would have been a cool design if they wanted to go for speed as that would have been faster than the f35
Since the first time I saw Starscream in Transformers 1 at the final battle meaning as soon when I played ‘Transformers - Revenge of the fallen’ in PS3 therefore I wasn’t expecting there is an autobot flyer known as Breakaway and I’m sorry to see that he is unable to be included in Transformers 2.
I’ve always wanted to know why Breakaway got cut off from Transformers 2?
The glass from the cockpit looks like something riot police wear
he couldn't break away from his fate....
also in a way, maybe the reason bumblebee killed Soundwave so brutally in DOTM was not only because Que dying but also for Breakaway
Literally only got added to the dark of moon game because the autobots had no flyer. I wonder why they chose him instead of Silver bolt or Air raid since they had models for them. Airial Bots always felt like an after thought for any continuity or are just ignored
I wonder if we get to see Warpath from Dark of the Moon video game
bro. i wonder if TFI creations and the other stop motion movie creators would create a series featuring the bots that weren't on the cartoons and movies?
Did you show Transformers revenge of the fallen at 0:19 because it is the best transformers movie in the franchise or because it is your favourite because it's my favourite.
i made some custom autobots that can fly, there leader it a SR71 bot i made named "Sturm Meister"
There’s actually a theory that Thundercracker was in DoTM, during the Chicago battle scene. Not sure if it’s true, but hey anything’s possible, Ig.
I have that when younger
Haven't you heard bro the fans have brought back the online servers for War For Cybertron And Fall For Cybertron for PS3!!You should make a vid about it when you have the time.
Havent watched the video yet. But he’s the ROTF game If I remember correctly.
I hope in the future we get a transformer game that is open worl or better yet open galaxy being able to go from planet to planet being able to choose and custemize your own bat good or eveil etc. I like the cybertron games more because the world alway felt unique and big. I do hope in the future we get a game like that whether its an mmo rpg or just action based it dont matter to me.
So the gen 1 transformers Thunder Cracker and Sky Warp were in the cartoon and the cartoon movies and even had toys of them. It would only make sense that they would rehash him in a new toy at least. Breakaway is someone new?
I remember watching these movies every time they came out in theater I was to enjoy them so much. Now I can’t even rewatch them this movie did not hold up well
I always wondered why he was in the game but not the movie
I think that the Autobots in the Bay movies, definitely needed more Aerialbots.
You forgot the triple changer in Age of Extinction and The Last Knight. Though he used his helicopter mode very seldom he had the ability to fly.
I didn't forget him. He's not an aerial bot. He can't fly while in robot mode.
I loved breakaway in the game, i mean aside from jetfire breakaway is one of the few autobots who can fly
My favorite figure was breakaway when the movies came out I wanna say the second movie but it’s been so long
It's kinda sad. I would've loved to see him in love action as I've kinda fallen in love with that robot design and I've been trying to get the single toy of him for 4 years.
I wanna see Breakaway and Dirge throw down. I assume Dirge probably exist somewhere too in this continuity in a similar way Breakaway does. Now the question is, who the heck would die first? Likely still Dirge.
Can't wait for jetfire
One of the best figures in the line such waste that breakaway never made it in a film.
outro song?
7:55 bro where can I get that?! I want it
Pretty sure that's a flight mask, not a scuba mask. 😆😂
Still one of my favorite transformer movies/
Ah, I have no id a who this Autobot is because I didn't get the game. Probably a good thing he was cut. Look at the number of Autobots who had little screen time with/ without lines.
I had a Breakaway toy when I was a kid
I had this toy i miss it
Where is the Transformers footage near the end of the video from?
A Japanese game called Transformers Pachinko
I would love to see breakaway and jolt fighting together.
To be really, really honest with ya, Breakaway NEEDS a major comeback in some way shape or form, he deserves another chance, man!!! 😔🤞🤞
No wonder Bumblebee didn’t seem to mind Soundwave killing Breakaway. He already died twice before, so chances are Breakaway will just be back at base by the weekend. Perhaps that’s where Starscream’s power went to in the movie verse.
I love this guy's design. The entire Jet becomes his shoulders. Also, he is not an F-35B. He is an F-35A, as the F-35B has an externally mounted machine gun in a stealth pod on the belly of the jet. Breakaway does not.
Is rotf backwards compatible for Xbox one yet
what about M-Bays Drift's 3rd form the helicopter
