I like to think of Grindor and Blackout as not the same individual, but a separate characters. Brothers with a split spark. Like Skyquake and Dreadwing from Prime. Grindor felt Blackouts spark extinguished, and travel to earth to get revenge on his twin brother death.
Meh that would be cool but this movie gotta get out to pump out toys and people just wanna see shit explode
wow that's actually a cool theory
that's a really good theory. Plus, optimus' voice lines in the ROTF game are similar to the things he said to dreadwing in prime.
MrFedoraFilm Like your observation!
yup now that's part of my headcanon, thanks.
Despite what most may believe about the bayverse, you’ve just gotta love the fact that there are so many inconsistencies to the point that anyone can come up with their own answers for whatever. In this case, I personally like the idea of them being seperate because it’s just funny imagining Blackout being cornered by a larger foe and saying “if you want to mess with me, you’ll have to mess with my brother”. Then walks in the 50 foot behemoth. I guess it would prove that energon is thicker than water.
That would be funny

@@Theorymus trans what is your next theory
My first time hearing trans curse
The fact that Blackout and Grindor are different characters and look the exact same. Makes me believe any character who switches into the same vehicle model as any other character will maintain the same appearance. Like if Thundercracker decided to show up in one movie I feel like he would look the same as Starscream if he took the form of an F-22 Raptor. You see robots like Brawl and Bonecrusher still roaming around but it’s probably not them.
The toys actually back this up. Both Thundercracker toys share Starscreams head
i actually like if he has nitro zeus desing
Blackout is grindor
@@leebang9734 there has lot of time it happened in transformers media
There are the 3 decepticons that all transform into black Chevy suburbans, but they all have different robot forms
I'm gonna take those lines from Optimus in the ROTF game to the heart. Blackout and Grindor being twin brothers sounds far more interesting than being the same person, similar to Dreadwing and Skyquake in Transformers: Prime.
I agree ^^
0:55 ‘head cannon’ *casually shows Grindor’s head being destroyed by Optimus*
LMAO you got the joke
@@Theorymus I am a auto bot!
Here’s my take on this. Grindor and Blackout are twins and are both difficult to tell apart (besides their size) which covers the plot hole of Grindor’s supposed tactical smarts, the box manufacturer simply got them mixed up. Grindor is slightly younger than Blackout, only by about 3,000 years however. And Grindor is… mentally challenged because he was built beefy and strong which takes away from his mental capacity (small brain). Blackout promised his brother that he would never let anything bad happen to him, and that they will always stick together. Grindor and Blackout came to Earth in the first movie but Grindor got lost due to his incompetent nature. He shows up in the final battle of TF 2007 but before attacking, he sees his brother die, so he leaves and no one finds him. He then gets a signal in RoTF from Blackout that he is still alive so Grindor shows up for the forest battle and they tag team and switch places quickly every few minutes, hence why we see 50’ and 33’ Grindor (the shorter one is just Blackout). And of course, due to Grindor’s sheer size and small brain, Optimus executes him in badasssery fashion. Blackout goes to his brothers corpse after the battle, sees that he’s dead, and lives on to constantly hate himself for breaking his promise and then probably dies later idk.
Edit: also, anyone saying, “if they swapped places how do they have the same battle damage” - they just happened to get hurt in the same places.
Edit: i typed all of this before TT got to the “brother” part of the video lol what a coincidence
Edit: all of this is useless as i still think they are the same dudes anyway
How did you make me feel bad for two minor decepticons?
They’re actually different colors as well. To me I kinda se black out as his name. A dark-grayish-black decepticon, while grindor was more of a grayish-blue color. Mostly gray. I also noticed the size difference in the helicopter forms. Part of me thought it was the same heli, but the body of the heli and tf 1 is shorter than the body’s of grindor.
@@ekris5072 lol
Why's this story actually kinda sad?
Damn man this is one tragic tale of two Decepticon brothers lol
I like how because he was killed by Lennox he labels an insect, he changes his name and his whole personality and everything and still loses to prime with not having much screen time in the movie.
Maybe another theory video would be weapons misconceptions, for example:
-rotf Megatron's fusion cannon
(Where it goes)
-Starscream's weaponry
(Where in his arms)
-Rachet's hand guns
(No weapon kibble shown)
-Lockdown's head gun and arm guns
(Transforms but no weapon visuals)
-Devastator's guns and missiles on body
(Shown when combined, but none had weapons individually, like Scavenger and Scrapper)
a bit late, but my guess on devastator's weapons is that they form specifically when they form devastator, and not in their robot mode.
in my opinion they can be the same and different characters at the same time, because the decepticon scouts from the rotf final battle have the same head as Blackout and Grindor, i think that blackout might have been the original one of this decepticon race, then his dna got used to create clones and Grindor might be one of them and the rest are the decepticon scouts from the final battle.
I always thought that they were the same character but then I figured out that Grindor was actually believe it or not taller than Blackout. So then I thought the reason they "killed the little one," for Megatron is because they uses most of the parts of the other decepticons for Blackout's revival so they could have more troops
But the “little one” was revived as well. That was scrap metal and we wouldn’t have got devastator without him. Scrap metal actually showed up with the rest of the constructicons. Also the sonar readings showed 5 at first, hint when megatron came back it then changed to 6 which means the “little one” was never dead. I honestly don’t know how that’s possible but hey😂😂.
Well I made this comment like 3 minutes into the video and I'm just now watching the constructicons misconception video
@@mikeydavid4500 I wasn’t trying to correct you or shame you. I was just saying. Tone tends to get lost in the text, so just read everything I send nonchalantly cause that’s basically me.
@@antoniyobell4232 Rotf literally didn't have a team of writers, don't think about it
I knew Blackout came back as Grindor in the second Transformers and I knew I was right!
I prefer to think that they are two different characters because its common for cybertronians to have the same body type like onslaught and longhaul. Also because of the different size
One that people miss is barricade and sideways. To me they look alike. They have almost the same head. Well In the first two movies. Most of the ksi cons looked a lot even with different car bodies. Not all of them looked alike, but I think you get what I’m saying. The fallen and his brothers👀. The dreadcons with the suburbans. Also beserker and the actual dread named dreadbot. It so many that look alike. Lol mixmaster and his brothers that showed up in the later movies😂. Idk if that’s true.
@@antoniyobell4232 the fact that barricade and sideways look similar is because in the opening scene of rotf it was suppose to be barricade
@@kokushibo1014 I felt that. I thought it was him in a new form before I played the game and realize he was different.

While it is an interesting theory, Hasbro and the film creators have said the two are different, separate characters from each other. I can see why people would think the two are one and the same......Similar robot and vehicle forms and all that.....The fact is that it's likely a case of reused designs and assets, a practice that got carried over into the later films.....A second Bonecrusher-type Decepticon, another Audi R8 Decepticon, Berserker and Dreadbot being rather similar to Crowbar and Crankcase, Onslaught having a robot form that is just a slightly redesigned version of Long Haul's to suit Onslaught's vehicle form.......A scrapped Hatchet look-alike, for which there is only concept art of, to complete the Dread trio for _The Last Knight._ Just to name a few........But it is possible that Hasbro is talking out of their butt, and merely saying that to sell toys by saying they're separate characters......
Another great theory! And personally one of the most believable ones, especially since it seems many of the people involved in the movies think the same
Thx my man

Quite some impressive research that went into this! Glad I was able to be of help in some regard.
I love black out and grindor there designs are unique and cool.
Thank you! We've been needing a breakdown of this topic for awhile now
Happy to help
Great video! For me, I think of grindor and blackout as two different characters, like brothers.
Here's my story
Instead of grindor Being killed he gets injured badly.
He'd fly back to base after the battle.
Starscream: "you almost died to prime? Even blackout could put up a fight"
Grindor: "scrap it screamer"
Megatron: "enough!"
And after that Megatron would talk to the fallen and the movie would play out like it did but grindor would help in the battle.
DOTM.
He would be the helicopter with two wings and rotors on the wings (idk what the helicopter is called. It's like the ones used in tlk when they land on Cybertron but with slight modificatios) and he'd play a bug role, and would kill jolt (yes, jolt is in dotm for me) but then he and shockwave would fight Optimus, grindor would get sliced in half, and he'd bleed out and die.
6:25 well in transformers:Age Of Extinction the evasion mode Optimus could make his windows and grill bigger when transforming into truck and in generation one they could actually do that when transforming
for instance:Soundwave
Your voice makes me wanna blow my ears out with the heaviest music I can find just to drown you out. Your voice makes me wanna rock back and forth in the corner chanting "his name isn't grin-DOOR" for hours
in my opinion the point about the size of robot modes and alt modes not matching up isn’t that big a problem since bonecrusher was able to transformers into vehicle around the same size as brawl’s whilst being a lot bulkier and larger build wise then brawl but aside from this theory is sound and very well done and it’s made me reconsider whether grindor and blackout are the same or not though i’d still like to believe they’re different
BlackOut and Grindor being brothers I'm Okay with even tho that's technically not possible
Bro.. check the title

@@drewzy12 what's wrong with this comment? He's just telling some bullshit. Besides that, you can see the title so what's wrong?
Nice video bro and i would not be surprise if they called him Grindor so they can keep the trademark on his name because they 1st used it back in 2002 for the UNICRON TRILOGY so i would not be surprise if that is what happen
When I first saw him I was kinda confused that didn't he die already but with your theory I kinda agree it's blackout but with a new name. And it wouldn't be wrong to think there are blackout looking Decepticons since in G1 there were countless Starscreams and with Blackout's size, weapons, and strength it wouldn't seem like a bad idea to have an army of blackouts.
And isn't it confusing that Bumblebee in the 07 movie transforms when sector 7 brought cars and helicopters, It literally shows his robot parts going into the area where the seats are in car mode, but when he finally transforms into his vehicle form the inside of his car mode is now hollow and has the seats, is there a in universe explanation for that? Or did the robot parts disappear magically or did the robot parts like turn into seats? Just wondering bro and I love this video ^^
Rotf was the first live action movie in the Michael bay transformers movie so I didn't know that blackout was dead
I was legitimately thinking about this the other day....then you did a video haha love it! Keep going man! 200K UP NEXT!
Thx my dude
I personally think that literally every decepticon character on screen was underrated, they just gave them names to make their deaths feel more like an accomplishment by other characters
It makes sense. It also explains why he's weaker in rotf than in 2007. Sense revived characters are significantly weaker then their past selves e.g rotf megatron.
The scrapmetal that combines into devastator could be a drone/clone, which is not new in your headcannon and theories because thats the explanation you used to explain the existance of other mixmasters, longhauls, scrappers... etc. Or maybe the one who was sacrificed was a clone. Meaning that he wasnt revived and that transformers with missing limbs cannot be revived.
I support your theory of Blackout and Grindor being the same but i wanted to mention this too.
Also, when you mentioned the six Contacts part in the theory, the sixth contact in Blackout: The tiger, mixmaster, longhaul, rampage, Blackout and Megatron. Scrapmetal was completely destroyed so he is not counted as a contact.
This theory is pretty believable but it's left me with one question: if the shard can revive blackout and scrapmetal with them being mangled heaps, then why did scalpel need scrapmetals parts to rebuild megatron?
This theory channel is the only one that doesn't drive me insane of doing the maths and science. This dude need subs
I like to think they are clones, like an experiment conducted by Shockwave.
So pretty much blackout is grindor but with a different vehicle and taller
19:20 Remember that one of the deceptions had to die in order to revive Megatron, that’s down to 4 alive and after Megs and Blackout are revived that brings it up to 6. Totally makes sense
Fun Fact: Blackouts alt mode in the 2007 film has been around since 1968, so with that in mind he likely landed on Earth with Starscream, Barricade, Brawl, and Bonecrusher around 2003

@@Theorymus omg, you replied! Thanks a lot, I really enjoy your vids
It's obvious Blackout & Grindor are the same. Blackout got a size up when he got revived & he became a bigger model of his helicopter form.
Trans Theories i absolutely love this theory of yours keep up the good work and until then all Hail! STARSCREAM!
The reason for 6 contacts rising could be because Scrap Metal was killed and used for parts, so Blackout would have definitely replaced his radar signature when they were all rising back up
Actually looking at the size chart you made I think it’s more plausible for grindor to transform into the super stallion than for blackout to turn into his alt mode. Blackout looks WAY too small to transform into that massive helicopter. Usually transformers are about the same height as their vehicle mode is long.
20:12 “getting assaulted by starscreams artillery” the funnyest thing i have ever heard
Full transparency, I had no idea they were different characters to begin with.

G1 Deep Cover: Am I a joke to you?
Liking this one so far. You sound A LOT more natural on this one. I'm really glad that you were able to get that down. Something like this is a lot easier to listen to.
I'm also glad that you point out the production reasons that this happened. It's nice to hear hard in canon theory for things but it's also important to consider the simplest reason. This is especially the case for a franchise like this that has as many inconsistencies in animation scale and continuity as Bethesda games have glitches. It's good that you mention that Bay defaults to rule of cool too. You also give some good in lore theories too.
Thanks man I really appreciate especially the comments on the voice overs I've been trying to nail those down to be a lot more natural than they were before and I think I'm finally getting to a place where I can easily produce them while sounding natural, That issue has been plaguing me for several videos and I'm finally happy To hear that it's Improving

Grindor: your weren't supposed to do that
If Blackout was revived along side with Megatron, though probably off screen when the Energon energy wave was released from the Allspark shard and became Grinder, wouldn't be that Bonecrusher who is the first to killed in the first movie by Optimus Prime and Brawl who is killed by the soldiers and Bumblebee be revived also and resurfaced to the shore.
You forgot one at the start - Bonecrusher is in T2 as well in one scene.

Fun Fact #1: Decepticon Grindor Appeared as Cameo in Transformers 4 which is Being used by Attinger to go in Lockdown's Ship
Fun Fact #2: Grindor Appeared as Cameo Transformers 5 during the Bee VS Prime Fight
There shouldn't be a "minor hole" in theory (18:52): don't forget scrap metal was destroyed for parts so only 4 of the original that went down went back up. Sonar caught 6 because of the addition of megatron and blackout/grindor:
--> dived down: ravage, scrapmetal, mixmaster, rampage, longhaul
--> came back up: ravage, mixmaster, rampage, longhaul, megatron, blackout/grindor
It is hollow inside of the helicopter so he can fit no matter his size does a giant hole in it so he can probably just mess up his parts in any storage compartments
I think the reason why they only picked up the six when the decepticons flew out of the water is because Blackout wasn't online yet. I think that after the pulse, his body wasn't finished mending when the others left, but after the human's were able to regroup and send the rescue copters to save any survivors, he came back online and scanned the super stallion as a means to hide in plane sight as he attempted to regroup with other decepticons.
Late to this but I just wanna say that making the sizes inconsistent really takes immersion out of the movie. But I guess Bay was more focused on impressing kids, which I certainly was when I was a kid.
When I first Got Movie 1 and ROTF on DVD, I actually thought Blackout and The Lookalike were both Cyclonus from Transformers Armada
6:26 not in movie continuity, but in the original G1 cartoon, transformers can change mass at will, and the fandom believes it is all thanks to "Mass Displacement" technology
For the longest time I thought that blackout had survived 2007 and returned in rotf and when I heard that he I died I got so confused
Haven’t watched you in a long time glad to be back :)
Plot twist: They are both just barricade in a costume
Can't wait for your next vid on why they were dismantling, also congrats on graduating to
13:39 In the '07 movie, Frenzy was decapitated by Mikaela, then later when he makes his way to the Allspark after being disguised as her phone and falling out of her purse down the Hoover Dam, his body is fully rebuilt.
Grindor was my most favorite gruesome death in the bayverse films
18:50 this hole is actually very simple to explain. The reason why there is 6 signatures when they fly out of the ocean is because they killed scrapmetal, so with Megatron and Grindor it would make 6 decepticons
Brawl was also at the battle in Egypt if you pay attention to the wave of cons that start the gunfight between the soldiers and cons hes towards the back of the scene but you see a tank con with the rocket pods on the shoulders same pods and same placement on the shoulders and all we see of him is getting hit by a round and falling backwards
Even this u small so many people interacting the moment u upload big ups

G1 Megatron: am I a joke to you?
Another thing is maybe bumblebee used holograms to make him look clean
After all these years, I just realized that after AOE, Optimus and Bumblebee are the only ones left from the 07 Autobot team
Would someone give Blackout a cybertronian therapist ??
It's borderline tragic how personally he takes his defeat by Humans.
Five contacts dive, one gets ripped apart for parts, Megatron replaces the fifth, Blackout is the sixth contact
Obviousness aside I’m thankful the games made me care about the cannon fodder characters. Sideways, Grindor, Barricade, and Blackout (even though those two were liked before)
Because of the games Blackout, Barricade, and Sideways made their way into my favorite transformers of all time lists after all these years. I still care about them and same character or not, Grindor may join him in the same league.
Ahh yes I was hoping for his video to be posted as soon as I opened yt and it was😄
wilcome back my man love you're videos trans keep going i will support you all the way
Thx dude
happy to be of service
Blackout was a bad ass!! That beginning scene was probably the best scene in the entire live action transformers. Hands down!
Poor guy. Died twice. Once to humans the other his face was ripped off
My guess is that Grindor was meant to be a revived Blackout or just a throwaway generic decepticon for Optimus to destroy originally but the toyline decided to make him a separate character
You forgot to mention that the allspark cube was able to regenerate Frenzy’s body when he was just a head.
My theory on The dismantling and prerusted look of blackout at the end of the first movie is that the military was doing tests on blackout’s body. This would explain how the humans gradually gets better at killing transformers after every movie.
What I always wondered is how we know that the second helicopter decepticon is called grindor while no one in the movie calls him that and if blackout took his name as grindor when he was resurrected, megatron kept his name
18:55 there were FIVE contacts diving in. But ONE of those FIVE was killed for Megatons Parts therefore only FOUR remained plus Megatron would be FIVE. Six contacts came up so the SIXTH one was Blackout??
Awesome as always
18:54 the reason there were 6 on the way up is cause blackout/grindor replaced the sonar ping that was there for the one who got sacrificed to revive megs
One reason blackout maybe didn’t go up with them was he would have to you know re build his body
Bro forgot to mention frenzy gets his body back after coming into contact with the all spark
Remember when the 6 contacts come back up one of the original 5 had been killed. So that means 2 took the place of one. That being scrapmetal used for megatron and blackout 😊
Love those recaps about transformers
Thanks
@@Theorymus your welcome
Also with Dark of The Moon Megatron as well please.
fun fact: if you look closely at the scene where grindor dies you can see he is missing his rotor my best guess is that if they tried to make prime tear his face off prime would clip through the rotor
Also the point of the parts for megatrons revival was so that way they wouldn’t bring back their master with 1 leg and arm
The parts fixed those injuries and upgraded him.
If blackout was revived his boards could’ve just recombined into what’s left along with any metal that is around him
I think that Blackout and Grindor are the same bot, but Blackout wasn’t repaired so he didn’t properly get revived at that scene, unless Blackout was held by another bot which is possible but we would have seen it, because the sonar would detect 7
