Beautiful Second picture
Wildly wonderful conditions at the sea arch, and a fine image captured.
fantastic photos congratulations
Nice picture from in the cave.
The arch is called Stac a' Phris, on the west coast of Lewis near Shawbost. There are limited decent compositions so you have to make the sea movement and weather conditions work for you.
Stay Safe Out there!
Last shot was epic... nice one .....
Loved the waterfall composition! Wow choice! Thanks!
Very beautiful picture with the waterfall
Great video! I was just as excited as you were! Beautiful phots ❤️👍
Great video Henry. Glad you had a great time here in Scotland. Cheers!
Great video again Henry. Fantastic looking place and you are capturing it so well.
You are probably the most enthusiastic person I have watched on the photography side of UA-cam
I have been in similar situations where you are racing against the light only to fail a the last minute.
It's really enjoyable to see someone getting emotionally excited with the beauty of whats in front of you.
I nearly broke down flying over western Australia on route to see relatives I hadn't seen for over 30 years
That colour of the red desert and the colour of the sea just hit me
I totally understand when you had that reaction when you arrived at this island
I have subscribed and look forward to seeing your vlogs
Keep up the good work
Love the arch and the water fall , epic day !!!!!!!!
Such infectious enthusiasm! Oops, that's a poor adjective right now... Energetic! That's better. Great video!
Great blog Henry, amazing pics .I feel your passion that light was amazing.Thanks.
Cup Of tea most importantly. LOL!! Awesome Henry. Beautiful shots mate. Cheers.
Another great video and great shots to boot Henry. Fantastic mate.
😊😊 glad you found it bud , i worked as a diver for 25 ish years around the west coast , its an awesome wild place . after finishing and moving back to cleveleys , i went camping for a week the coigach penninsula ( summer isles) i think my week long camping trip lasted 11 months , you deffinately feel youv left something behind 😊
My favorite was the waterfall / beach shot , worth all the hassle ! Hope you enjoyed your visit and took home , not only fabulous images , but wonderful memories of this magical place . Well done and here's to your next adventure .
Thanks a million James!!
The title is correct.. another place!! Beautiful shots!!.. as usual
Hi Henry, I've been an avid viewer of your channel for a while now, I was primarily a macro photographer but while out and about looking for subjects I kept seeing amazing scenery, I tried taking the shots and they were nothing like what I was seeing, I decided to turn to you tube to find out how to photograph landscapes and your videos kept popping up so decided to watch a few, those few turned in to a lot and now I've watched the same ones over and over. Thoroughly enjoyable, informative and inspirational. Keep living the dream :)
Awesome trip buddy that final image tho 😲💪
Your seascape image was awesome! Thanks for the motivation!
Excellent pictures. Thoroughly enjoyable video. You have confirmed my suspicions about Lewis and Harris being worth a visit.
Great video & such infectious enthusiasm. The last shot of the arch was beautiful. Good composition and atmosphere. Stay safe.
Beautiful Second picture from rocks and the waves.
Henry, great VLOG! Love the sea. Thanks Henry. You be safe brotha.
Great Vlog man
Some absolutely stunning image there mate.
Great vlog.
Very much enjoy your style of videos man. You clearly are a talented photographer but also host, filmmaker and story teller. New sub here!
Cheers Josh, really appreciate the kind words mate - thanks for your support.
Hi Henry. Fantastic video and top top images, they’re some of your best imo! What a special place. Keep up the excellent work and have a great week. Stay safe!
my goodness, you really deserve a pint after that !!!
Exhilarating, just to watch!
The last photograph is very nice but the one I liked the most is the one with the waterfall: exquisite composition, so well thought and original, something to be inspired by. One last advice: why don't you give a try to some waterproof socks? Sealskinz (made in UK) are fine but anyone is ok. If you get acquainted with them you can even forget waterproof shoes.
waterproof socks may be worth a try! I think wellies would have been ideal in this situation
Amazing place, and honest commentary.
Fantastically inspiring man Henry. Your enthusiasm for your passion is outstanding. I'm new to this photography game but I'm watching your videos and getting more and more excited about my own photography. Fantastic images. Great work Henry
Henry, you did some wonderful photos on this island. Thanks for communicating me your passion!
Wonderful as always, you deserve to put your feet up and have a pint.thank you Henry, safe journey home mate.
Cheers Steven!!
Wow, what an amazing island!! Someday I will have to go there.. 😊 Love the pictures you took!
12:05 - you aren't trespassing, there is a right to roam in Scotland, Been at the arch before, you are right its hard to find if you don't know where to look but that is a good thing! (yet it is still busy, i had a workshop turn up when I was there)
Ah cheers mate. Yes I really wasn’t expecting people to be there but I think that was a small workshop of other photographers!
@@HenryTurnerphoto Yeah the right to roam pretty much lets you go anywhere except peoples direct gardens or military/police bases.
Wadger Catcher it’s one of the “common sense” rights, I can’t wait to get back home to Scotland and take advantage of these rights and the landscape. Brilliant images and great vlog.
Your right Henry hard work always makes us appreciate things more. You photos where all good but I really liked the waterfall one. The composition was exquisite.
Looks super cool there 👌 it also looks like a pretty cool spot to do some Geology & Stargazing 🙌🔭
Henry I always enjoy the enthusiasm you bring to your photography. Well done.
Hi Henry, absolutely love this video. Love coastal photography. That last shot you took was breathtaking, and as always your enthusiasm is amazing.i Look forward to your next adventure.
Thanks Henry.
Awesome! The light, locations... Epic!! Images weren't too shabby either - Cheers - T🙂
Top vlog and great images
love your enthusiasm Henry! great videos from the outer Hebrides! looking forward to visiting there in the future
Like the Skiddaw Langdale Pikes in b/w atmospheric🙂
Beautiful shots as usual Henry!! Your enthusiasm is very contagious.
Starting at about 13:00 was the best vlogging you have ever done. IMHO.
Henry!! Nice to see another video 😁
Cheers Justin
Henry Turner Cheers! I just finished watching the video and you need to hit up that final location along the sea once again so you can have time to set up and capture the light... Still, Amazing image! TOP DRAW 🙌
That archway shot! To say what I like, simply, I'd reduce it to the feeling it has, for me: Intimate. With typically more dramatic light, etc, it wouldn't have that quality, and I daresay, it wouldn't have moved me like this one does. There's plenty of drama, but in an almost private way. That ring of ripple around the submerged rock in the "pocket", Wonderful, in its milky goodness! Frankly, I'm glad you "couldn't" use the ultrawide, because the 16mm focal length boxed you into a very fine arrangement. Sometimes the urgent crunch opens creative seeing that simply wouldn't have been chosen, "normally". Just Gotta Take the Shot! and discover it back at the edit desk. Big Thumbs Up, Sir.
What a place, the Mecca of UK landscape photography ❤️, great adventure and images as always Henry!
Absolutely tremendous mate. The Scottish Land Reform Act means you weren't trespassing, only enjoying the free access rights we have up here! Brilliant photos.
Loved this video! The waterfall shot was stunning. Not much wrong with the other shots either!!! I LOVE Scotland and I'm very happy that you managed to visit before the madness that has now kicked in. Keep well & safe Henry
Thanks a lot Jill, yes I was very lucky with my timings!
great video as the norm, Great location Henry I must go there one day, Not sure which is my fav the waterfall or the arch the cave one was good but the last two outstanding.
Awesome video, loving these vlogs from Scotland, some awsome landscapes and cracking images. Definitely need it make a visit in the future.
Brilliant! Wish I was there
Thank you!
Just bought you some beer! Cheers!
Another brilliant, and very passionate video. Love how quick the weather changes, and that light is awesome. If you're looking for great cliffs and landscapes take a trip to Arbroath and the county of Angus. Famous for its Glens and rugged coastline.
Nice to you out Henry. I see the Red Beast is back in action. Lovely vlog with very nice images.
Yet annother great video. I loved it. I can imagine that a pint of beer, a wee whisky and some haggis will make the day after this trip..... The last location I would have made 5-8 shots with big spray in different parts of the scene and stitch them together in post. I know this is cheating,- but it looks awesome. Cheers.
That's what's so great about living in Scotland, 4 seasons in one day/hour lol the lighting constantly changing, keeping you on your toes. Great to see you getting so much pleasure from the landscapes it's a wonderful feeling when it all comes together. Bet you can't wait to return!
Amazing effort and great shots!
I would like to be here!!!!!!!!!!
It’s not all fun and games - that’s what makes it so much fun 😃 Know what you mean though !
Really liked the cave shot, the waterfall was really cool but the arch and ferocious ocean was epic. All Quality shots mate.
Loved the episode Henry, was a real tonic with the beautiful images. Particularly loved the image with the waterfall 👍
Really enjoyed this Henry. Will deffo give you a shout about booking a Lake District workshop once this corona malarkey blows over
Cheers Harry 👍🏼👍🏼🙏🏼
Some fantastic images from a stunning location mate, it's definitely on my list to visit..! Take care, and stay safe in these weird times.
Some great images in there Henry, loved the arch shot , glad to see you had a great time on the island
Thanx for the Video! Where did you focus in your picture at 5:42?
I do not use this word alot like some people but that video was awesome. Subscribed .
Thank you, and i am looking forward to you sharing your adventures in the hopefully near future.
Absolutely love the energy you bring to your videos. We can tell you really enjoy what you do and that you put so much of yourself into it.
whaat!? i've missed this video. love scotland. :D
What a spot mate, I would love to shoot the island! And like you said so nice to have proper Scottish weather!
Lucky you H, I"m Scottish n into landscape photography and havent bn there yet, promised myself I am goin, anyway the main reason I"m goin is for 2 beaches that you didnt go to,and thats Vatersay and Berneray beaches, and for having the same ammount of passion for that place as you, its disgusting that I havent got off my arse to go yet you should check these beaches out online you wont be disappointed
Oh Henry, you are absolute fun to watch! Great captures! Wish I had such incredible sites to photograph. Well done!
The waterfall shot and the one with the arch are one of your best in my opinion! Really great work and nice to see how much joy you have :)
Both your vlog's were top quality. Your 2nd video has been the best I have seen from you. keep up the good work.
Wow that last image is a corker fella.
Thanks a lot! 🙏🏼
Beautiful series, you obviously had a fantastic time on the island. The textures and colours of the beach at the first location in this vlog were photo worthy. Did you manage to find a composition that to highlight the pebbles/sand?
The red beast back in action! 👍
2:10 That's why a prepared landscape photographer always has his or her swimming outfit in the backpack! 😅
4:10 That's why a prepared landscape photographer always has a broom in the backpa- no? Oh... But... If you travel to beaches, maybe we should consider bringing some with us? Other people might call us crazy, but let's be honest: we *are* crazy. 😅
5:38 I expect that the fog/clouds lift every moment and reveal a lost country, or ghost ship, or anything else mystical-magical.
10:53 The result was worth the hassle. And this is probably one of these locations which would work perfectly on *any* weather. 🤔
Though you missed the timing for the last shot, it's still an awesome image. And you got now... seven or so stunning pictures in two days. That's an outstanding result!
It is true that the best landscape images are made in challenging weather conditions. On your first photo would you be able to clone out the footprints to make the beach look a little less disturbed?
Because the Nikon D7200 does not show the histogram on the Live View mode, I’m interested to know how you check it Henry? Brilliant blog as ever, enjoy your time there 👍
Hi Kevin. Just by taking the shot and checking the histogram afterwards 👍🏼
Henry Turner Thanks buddy, which it had the histogram available in Live view before you take the shot👍
would love to know what filter system you use with your new z7 - and whether it allows the use of the lens hood
What beach is this with the waterfall? We are going in a few days and I really want to visit there!!
Henry what wide angle lens are you using? I also shoot with a Nikon D7200 and needing to upgrade my wide angle lens other than the 18-55 kit lens.
Henry, I was one of the three photographers in your video from your final location so really appreciate your enthusiasm for that area. However one point I would like to make is to ask whether you have given any thought to the environmental impact your videos might have on such wild and remote areas. The Isle of Skye is experiencing considerable problems as a result of social media exposure, and i can see other locations going the same way. Just something to think about?
Hi Steve, thanks for the comment. It's not something I'd particularly considered from the UA-cam side of things, but when I travel to these places I personally try to do my bit by supporting local businesses, engaging with locals and generally being as respectful as possible. I hope you noticed that I didn't actually give any of the names of the places I'd visited in this video. I think the environmental impact is that of the people - and in my opinion it's unfair to single out my videos mate to be honest, my goal is to inspire people to get out with their cameras and to enjoy the world - that's something I stand by. With that being said, I'm more than happy to listen if you have any suggestions Steve. Hope you understand. Cheers.
Henry Turner Hi Henry, I wasn’t trying to single out your videos, I was making a general point that I think we should all consider. I fully appreciate your intention is to inspire others to enjoy the amazing world we live in, however looking at the comments you received it is clear that a number of people have indicated their intention to visit that location, which in turn will eventually be impacted. I know that we all have a right to enjoy our wonderful landscape, I just worry about the impact we have when we flock to a location in large numbers. It is a difficult balance and it was not my intention to criticise you, I just wanted to encourage you to think about the issue. We all have choices to make at the end of the day. Good luck going forward and stay safe, Steve
Morning Steve, thanks for the reply. I’m sorry, that came across wrong. I didn’t mean you specifically were singling out my videos, I just meant if people were to single me out generally. I completely understand your point and it’s definitely something worth discussing - I wouldn’t like to be responsible for an area getting overrun. Yes you’re right regarding the choices aspect - definitely something to think about. I thank you for bringing it to my attention more than it has done in the past. I’m considering doing a live stream and perhaps it will be a great place to discuss it with people there. Thanks again mate and all the best.
Wander freely in Scotland nobody can stop you apart from the MOD
Mate.... you beat yourself up to much... what u do is soo much more than landscape photography.... the process of making the Vlog on top of just being out and taking the still shot must be such hard work... you do it so well... but honestly when u have light like that... in a location like that... that isnt just an hour along the road... turn US off and enjoy the moment for you! Take a few quick stills if u like and do a voice over later... but dont feel guilty about it... tell us the story later... you enjoy and capture the moment. What is the name of that sea arch out of interest.... lewis and Harris on my radar for a holiday in the next few years... and id like to add it to my location plans. Keep safe in this difficult time! Thankyou for your continued inspiration! Are you on flickr? Id like to follow u... i dont use instagram... much prefer the flickr photography community
Thanks Mark. I don’t use Flickr sorry!
3 Obviously on another planet disliking...WTF
