That shot of the snow blowing across the trees is probably one of the best you have ever taken. Absolutely stunning.
Hi Henry, I’ve been an on/off photographer for the past 40 years, spending way too much money on underused equipment. Thanks to your great channel you’ve taught me the most important lesson. Get out there and be part of this wonderful world and you will capture a piece of it which will be unique to just you. Keep up the good work fella. Loving The Lakes ebook.
Shooting midday is something that is disregarded by so many landscape photographers. Once the sun is up for 30 minutes, most call it a day. So many missed opportunities
That 1/30th sec shot at 11:43 is absolutely wonderful - I feel shivery just looking at it - congratulations!!
Thanks Tony. Yes I’m delighted with it!
I too felt shivery looking at the shot. But I looked at it again a little later, with the accompanying music turned off. Didn't feel shivery. What does that mean?
@@davidcox3833 Morten Hilmer will explain for you ua-cam.com/video/B19xo7B1KHU/v-deo.html
Yes, beautiful. Would loved to be there at that minute.
Aww Henry!! I do love you!! Your enthusiasm and sheer joy shine through and this video almost had me in tears because I could FEEL your excitement. Your photos are phenomenal and that first one is a belter. Keep doing what you do and never ever change.
Thanks so much Jill!!!
That picture with the Snow is really Fantastic I Love It
Hi Henry
I've had a working life getting up for work. When I were in the coal mines I had to be up at 4 am to be down pit at 5:15 am. I've had enough of getting up at silly oclock. You're the 1st you tuber to speak my mind! Good man.
So glad I discovered your channel Henry. Find myself checking my feed daily for another 'fix' of your enthusiasm, honesty and above all your fantastic images. Keep them coming!!
Thanks so much for the support!! Really glad you enjoy my content ☺️
What a day!! Rules are rules... But I think inspiration and patience are the best drivers!
Thanks for watching Walter!!
Spot on Henry, ALL light is good light.
Cheers John
Fantastic image Henry, you nailed it on that one.
Nice to see how much you enjoy the sun 😅🌞 I wish we had more fog, you just can't have everything. great video as always. many greetings from southern Germany
The best shots are always the ones that you don't plan for, all you need is mother nature to step in. Great shot, I bet you couldn't believe what was unfolding. Keep the videos coming and enjoy your curry.
Yes it was incredible Martyn, very lucky timing indeed
Cracking shot there Simon Baxter would be envious.
Cheers Russell
Hi Henry. I'm just starting out on my landscape photography journey in New Zealand. One day I will move to the South Island but for now I am challenged with local and you have made me look at my local area in a different light as I thought it was really boring. Now I look for the exciting :) Love your channel.
Henry love the picture of the trees in the snow looks awesome. Well done.
Thank you so much 😀
You guys are lucky you got snow, currently 26C here in NZ, never get to see snow apart from on the mountains in winter. I really liked that snow shot, it made me feel like I was there.
Thanks very much
Couldn't agree more with the premise of this video, Henry.
Cheers Don
Great Video Henry!!! You are so Right!! So much fun watching the video and learning from you. Keep the wonderful honesty that is missing from UA-camrs!!!
Thoroughly enjoy everything you do Henry. Youre an inspiration sir, thank you.
Got to say that it is a stunning capture, well worth the effort Henry.....
Thanks Kevin!
Quality Vlog Henry.
Beautiful images. And absolutely love your enthusiasm towards your photography.
Richie
All that bad weather was worth it Henry. That first image in particular is superb. No wonder it’s your current favourite. Keep up the great work sir.
Thanks a lot mate
Henry Turner most welcome 🤙📸
So glad you posted this. Absolutely love your channel and this is my favourite video so far
Agree entirely photographs can be taken any time of day or night great images in the snow
Thanks for watching David
Loved the vastly changing weather! It gave you so many options to create and recreate the scenes all around you. So good!!
Fantastic shot at 11:43 Henry, one to be proud of. Quick tip on the use of your polariser earlier on in the video....if you haven't got your adaptor ring just hold the polariser in front of the lens, simple but effective.
Thanks a lot Steve
Always shoot middle of day this time of year it can be so rewarding not a big fan of sunrise pictures because from my experience I’ve never been very lucky with the light , keep up the good work 👍
Cheers David
Just beautiful
Henry, the shot with the snow is the most fabulous shot I've seen on here for months I am so glad it was you that got it. love your enthusiasm and excitement you deserve all the credit you will get.
Thanks a lot Colin, much appreciated
Also depends of course on te kind of picture you want to take, which time of day is the most suitable. If you want some landscape pictures to express the summer heat for example. This summer I have taken a few shots a cows in a meadow, standing separately beneath old fruit trees in the shade. Shot these in the middle of the day. If you look at the pictures you feel the summer heat (and the pictures have a bit of a nostalgic feel of a hot summer day in the country side long time ago). I never could have captured this during golden hour.
Thanks Henry, enjoyable and helpful as usual. Come & try midday in Australia, you will not have to worry about the sleet & hail, just the witheringly hot sun.
Cheers Donald! Yes that would be a different story altogether!
Beautiful photos. Congratulations.
Cheers
The second image henry is top drawer mate, great vlog as always 👍👍👍
Thanks a lot Stephen
Love your enthusiasm👍
I 100% totally agree with you Henry on you shouldnt just limit to the golden hour, especially here in the UK. The light changes so much due to our weather, which you can clearly see in this video. I do my landscape photography at the weekend and to be honest some of my personal great shots have been me messing about with camera settings and ND filters during harsh light. Hope the curry was tasty and another great video from you, I hope it inspires more amatuers not to be fearful of daytime photography.
Thanks a lot
Hi Henry, really enjoy your videos. Much more interesting landscape than we have here in southeast Michigan.
Cheers Greg, thanks for watching mate
Love your enthusiasm and photos. I often shoot in the middle of the day as I like the contrasting ‘chiaroscuro’ lighting effect, so its nice that you’re also encouraging people not to miss out on a single opportunity to get out with their cameras. Great work.
I think this might be your best vlog yet mate. Loved the enthusiasm and seeing your personality coming out. Great video, great pictures and thank you for the inspiration Henry :)
Thanks a lot Gavin, cheers for watching!!
Another great video Henry!! Everybody loves you enthusiasm but what I like the most is learning about photography from you abilities. The two photos of the Scotch Pines were excellent.
Cheers Alan
Stunning picture great content
REALLY REALLY NICE JOB
I couldn’t agree more as you know Henry, your message is “get out with your camera whatever the time of day or weather”. This is probably your best vlog to date, you were having great fun in the changing weather conditions and your snowy and snowing images were SUPERB! Great stuff. p.s. as your camera is on a tripod you can always just hold an oversize polariser in front of the lens if you forget the adaptor ring.
Cheers John! Yes some amazing weather conditions
I agree with your 2020 image of the year, so far. Well done.
Thanks Patrick
Wou amazing how the weather chanced!
Really enjoyed the drone footage Henry over those Scots Pines. The images in this vlog are amazing you have to be in it to photograph it and that weather was perfect wintery, blustery, and gave you some magical conditions for those brilliant shots!
Thank you!
Great compositions ...
Great photos and love your enthusiasm. You have prompted me to get out on Hastings sea front at midday before I start work. Will see if I can get a descent picture of the fishing boats in the foreground and cliffs and cable car to the castle in the background.
Sounds great Les. Thanks for watching
Awesome pictures, you have grown my belief that I can do it . Thank you
Thanks Malcolm
Bottle it...bottle it quick and ship some of that enthusiasm my way please!!!! That was indeed a great vlog and that image...top drawer, well done Henry 👍👍
Haha thanks so much Jim!!
Beautiful shot Henry. In the right place in the right time. Excellent
Thanks Noel
Im not a photographer at all but i so enjoy these beautiful images you capture, your enthusiasm is infectious.thank you for sharing, much appreciated.
Thanks so much Steven, really glad you enjoy them
Cracking photos again. Enjoying your blogs and learning from them, keep the enthusiasm going and hope you’re successful with your career as a professional landscape photographer
Great advice about shooting in the middle of the day. I work full-time during the day and so much of my shooting is during my lunch hour - especially in the winter since the sun rises and sets when I am in the office.... I have some stunning images from the middle of the day. I hope beginning photographers see this video and pay attention. Nice job!
Thanks a lot Joe
Great work and storytelling Henry
Thanks very much!!
lovely video henry nearly watched all your videos. keep them coming there all amazing love this channel. Take care at this horrible time.
Thanks so much
Hi Henry,
Just watched your video about being out in the middle of the day and I couldn’t agree more. I live in the ribble valley and like you am blessed with some terrifically beautiful scenery. Too good to miss at any time of day. Great video and great results.
Cheers David
Well done Henry, fairly new subscriber here, enjoying your natural style and enthusiasm.
Thanks a lot Bill
That’s a very good photo of the trees in the snow. Well done
Thanks a lot Chris
Awesome as always Henry 👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks a lot Graham
Hot tip with nisi filter holders (and I guess others ) when they get stuck usually in cold weather as the metal shrinks stick them under your armpit on your skin for a few minutes they’ll warm up and undo with ease. That reminds me might try get a dry lubricant for mine test that out
Thanks for the tip 👍🏼
The military usually, when entering a long period out in the field. They will a "cape like" weather rain protection. Big enough to cover the huge back back. If you look up photos of troops out in the middle east you will see how large those weather capes are. It would be one piece and not pants and top. Lite weight, folds up small. Might even be used as a shelter
Wow, that pic shot during snowfall is so brilliant! Congratulations, Henry!
Thanks a lot
You are the first person i have seen that treats your tripod like a human. Thats funny.
Thank you Henry, majority of pro photographers say golden hour or blue hour is best and light is to harsh mid day, and you have proved that all day is good, all hours during the day are fine to photograph, cheers lad, I live in Northern Ireland and our weather is like what you had, if it’s bad then wait 10 minutes, lol great vlog
Thanks a lot John!
Your first snow shot is stunning , Mood to die for. I traditionally start my photography day at first light , and then suddenly i realise its midday and im still looking for image. Even if the light isn't great you can still practice practice practice. And while doing that , well you never know what may happen, as you have just shown.
Exactly right David
Great video Henry. Really enjoyed this one. 🙂. Wee tip for you ... If you are ever out in the sleet/hail/snow without your waterproofs then might be worth zipping up your fleece and jacket to stay warm and dryish! Think your photo of the trees with the snow is brilliant. Looks timeless, almost like a painting. 👍 Interesting to note, following from the subject matter of your last video, that your best shot of the day (possibly the year!) was handheld! 😉
Cheers Kenny!
Another quality (top drawer) video Henry! See you Friday for the 121 👍
Thanks Paul! Look forward to it mate ✊🏼
Wot a stunning photo mate 📷 👍📸📸📸
Cheers Andy
Well done Henry, the tree image is outstanding.
Thanks a lot Hermilio
I think J.M.W. Turner would've been happy with that first image. Fitting that you made it next to a memorial that included him.Beautiful scene! And you got to enjoy some sunshine photography, and then some beautiful snow....best of both worlds!
Haha exactly Larry, I had it all in the space of a few hours!!
Cracking vlog young man👍 don’t know what weather channel you use but I swear by the MWIS (Mountain Weather Information Service) I find it to be very accurate for Scotland, the Lake District and Snowdonia. Love the Scots pine shots
Thanks a lot Barry, I do use that one occasionally
"Sideways precipitation". Shades of Eric Olthwaite!
Three fantastic images there Henry, the 2nd one is magic. Love it.
Thanks so much Rob, I’m so happy with that shot
Love your work Henry awesome video mate
Thank you very much
Yeah it's class that image mate. I was out this week but only got the hail, not the snow. Still love shooting in the day though.
Cheers Daniel
That was just sooooo lucky, ( The snow) I just love your videos. You make me laugh, you get so excited, Your enthusiasm and honesty jumps out of the screen. Keep up the good work. " Carnage " hahaha.

You are so right. I have got some really nice images just using my phone when i am out on a walk during the day, i think it is about getting yourself out there and seeing what happens.

Thanks Paula
Pleased to have found your wonderful videos.
Thanks for watching Rose.
This was so funny to watch because I was out at exactly the same time and I could relate to your reaction exactly! I was a little further west in the fells above Buttermere myself. Another great video, Henry. Hopefully see you out and about sometime soon 😃
Cheers Ross! It sure was crazy haha
Beautiful shot Mr. Turner …
Cheers Bob
Trees and snow shot so good, like a painting. Your experience shows how quickly weather can change. Rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle of pro landscaper... “I’m now going for a curry...” 👍🏻😂
Haha yeah rock n roll indeed! 😂
Thanks very enjoyable blog. I do love Ullswater. I agree totally it taking all opportunities to photograph, why restrict yourself I have come up with a few cracking shots in the middle of the day. Loved the winter tree shot.
Thanks a lot, yes it's lovely round there
I shoot during the day most of.the time too lazy to get up at crack of dawn and like to be home on an evening. The majority end up B&W but as you said, you can get some great images during the day.
Couple of cracking shots, Henry..! That weather was epic 🌨 keep up the good work mate
Thanks Andy 👍🏼
Great vid Henry. What would you recommend to a newbie for landscape photography who doesn't have a weather sealed camera? Any tips/tricks you found useful on your journey?
Great shots Henry!
Please tell me you bagged some cheeky fine art macro shots of the snow clad ferns.
They were screaming out to be photographed.
Another great upload Henry
Cheers Jeff
Recently subscribed to your channel. Enjoying it a lot and still loads of videos to watch yet. One request - if its possible and convenient to you, please share more info on the pic that you take i.e. do you shoot manual or aperture priority (I'm assuming its mostly aperture-priority), where do you generally put your focus point - is it hyperfocal point or something else, how do you decide what exposure compensation to use (basically how do you interpret histogram) - just the key info. Will help people like me who are only now exploring landscape photography. Thanks for your videos.
Pallav (India)
Thanks!
Just looking this video from 11 months ago , and as always there are great tips for taking my own photos.
But one question: as I can see you NEVER uses a lenshood , and I think for example in rain or snowing it would help a lot ..? For me I always try to use a lenshood , mostly of course shooting in bright sunlight.
Stay healthy , I also enjoying your videos very much
Great Vlog Henry as always, planning to get up to the lake district or Glencoe area this year, the hail/snow/sleet looks like what I encountered today upon Dartmoor although I was a little more wrapped up than you 😁 Great Vlogs and inspiration 👍🏻
Thanks mate!!
Oh you lucky man being in the right place at the right time, why go any where else than this glorious pleasant land we call the UK, great vid man
Best place in the world. Thanks so much for watching
Cracking video Henry, the weather gods were with you on this day. The tree image get my 👍 up.
Cheers Ian!
