  • This is Part 2 of my Husky 701 enduro build series. In this video I'm replacing the original air box with a Rade Garage Air box + additional Fuel Tank kit. I'm also removing all the emissions-related parts in the process.
    This is one of the most important changes I did to this bike because I ended up with serviceable foam air filters and I've increased the range by over 100km. Both changes served me very well in Morocco.
    By removing the SAS/Canister I've dropped ~1.5kg of unnecessary stuff from the bike and cleaned up the engine space quite a bit.
    Watch Part 1 here: • My Ultimate Light Adve...
    The bike now has 17.000km, mostly offroad and it does not look as shiny anymore.
    It took me to some amazing places across various countries like Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Romania, Croatia. I raced it and won the M5 class @ the Dinaric Rally 2023.

    The list of mods I did includes:
    Wings Titanium Exhaust
    Outback Motortek engine guards
    Rade Garage bashplate with toolbox storage
    Rade Garage Airbox + additional 6L fuel tank
    Double Take mirrors
    Emissions removed
    Perun Moto luggage rack
    Perun Moto subframe reinforcement kit
    Perun Moto handlebar clamp with AMPS mount
    Perun Moto Heel Guards
    Scotts steering damper
    Heated grips
    Rade garage reinforces rear brake pedal
    Rade garage bigger & lower foot pegs
    Various other protection items
    Super light Li-Ion battery
    I love this bike!

    Nice setup with the aux fuel tank.
    I have a '23 and a couple free mods for anyone who owns a 690 platform bike to consider:
    The kickstand has a sensor on it to prevent riding off with the stand own. The problem is the sensor is low and vulnerable and if it gets damaged it will disable the bike with no means of trailside repair. It is a fancy 3 wire Hall Effect deal and splicing wires won't work. Remove the kickstand switch from the frame, roll up it's signal wire nice and tidy and tuck it under the seat. Unbolt the magnet from the top of the kickstand. I found the area of the sensor that detects the magnet is small, so I cut down a thin larger magnet to the size of the sensor, duct taped it on there, and then zip tied it in place to make sure it stays on.
    The 2nd mod is for those who don't ever want TC and ABS on. I got tired of disabling ABS every time I went in the dirt, and even the "off road dongle" leaves front ABS on, which is a problem. The mod is to remove the rear ABS sensor and tuck it under the seat alongside your kickstand sensor. The causes the ABS and TC to stay off. The lights will be on, which they always are anyway as I always disabled them on my bike.
    Tuning wise, these are crazy lean at part throttle and lower RPM to meet emissions. An O2 sensor delete dongle and the exhaust of choice works wonders. Combining the O2 dongle with a mapped PC6 really unleashes the Kraken 😆
    Alas, I hear rumors that the newest Euro 5 ECUs may no longer be fooled by a "spoofed" O2 sensor signal. Apparently the solution is a device that goes between the O2 and the ECU. The PC6 and O2 delete dongle work great on my American spec '23 701.

    Subbed! I’m thinking of going for the rade garage under seat storage. I don’t need extra fuel capacity but want the foam filters and any weight reduction I can get!

      @rosucristi  10 місяців тому +2

      I think it’s a great option and if I didn’t need the extra fuel, that kit would definately be on my bike. Instead, I use the rade bash plate with storage box.

    Nice, im trading my expediton for my old -21 701 this weekend. It has the aluminium rade tower, but im thinking of going the same route as you and removing the tower to keep it light. Maybe a advspec mini tower on longer rides.

    • @rosucristi
      @rosucristi  10 місяців тому

      I prefer not having the added weight up and in front of the bike, that's why I did not add a tower. I did have the OEM Husky screen for a while but I getting a lot of buffeting at higher speeds and I removed it after a few days. That depends on your height, helmet so a mini-fairing might work for you.

      Do you have the rade garage steering damper mount? For me the clamps hit the headlight plastics.. @@rosucristi

      @rosucristi  10 місяців тому

      @@Rdissss Yes I have and I had to cut & adapt it to work properly. It's made for the their tower and did not fit the original mask.

    I had Rade garage Tank , and while I was good, I don't think I'll put one again. I mean if you don't go to Africa, Siberia, Mongolia etc. I don't think you would need one. I used mine like only two times, and both times I could have refueled (but I was lazy) and the bike is very economical in touring mode and most of the countries I've been had fuel pretty often.

      I went to Morocco solo, 5k km over 2 weeks, it was indispensable! That being said, I also used it a lot in Europe. Long multi day trips, when you go a bit deeper into the mountains, camp some place then next day going back, with no refueling options. Big bonus for me is the foam filter. I will change the bike at some point and I will mount one again.

      @@rosucristi This kit seems so good i am surprised KTM does not have it as a standard upgrade, or even as a single piece, large tank replacement. They could also skip the plastic subframe and have a normal aluminium one, with a removable, one piece, long fuel tank.

    Are you happy with stock suspension or will you be doing something?

    • @rosucristi
      @rosucristi  10 місяців тому +3

      It was good enough for general dual sport but my suspention is not stock anymore. I have a Dal Soggio valve kit in the front which is way, way better than stock and the back was professionally re-valved. Forgot to mention this in the list of mods

    Hey! I have the same bike, best ever bike to me - have you remapped it after the exhaust and in take?

    • @rosucristi
      @rosucristi  10 місяців тому

      No, I did not remap it. It might running a bit lean but I think the ecu compensates a lil bit to be honest. The bike runs nice, I would not spend $$$ on ecu

    How does the bike ride on the highway? I want to buy this bike but I’d have to ride several hours to go offroad

      @fredricknilsson7 3 місяці тому

      It doing ok, you can easy do 100km/h if you need to. But Im ridning 80% offroad with mine and avoiding all highways as much possible.
      Much more fun to ride offroad :-)

    Hmm - you know your way around the bike, that's for sure! Are you a trained bike mechanic? I got the tank fitted, but had to ask the dealer to do it 😥 .. If love to know my way around the bike better - don't have the knowledge or confidence!!!

    is 200 plus Kg light ?

    • @rosucristi
      @rosucristi  9 місяців тому

      Hell no, what do you mean? This bike is not even close to 200.

    • @fredricknilsson7
      @fredricknilsson7 3 місяці тому

      Its like 152 kg stock.
      Replace the stock silencer and replace the stock battery with LIPO battery and you are down to 146-148kg.

    You don't need to dick around with the pump at all if you look around the pump area under the tank there is provision to put a 640 type fuel petock straight in the tank one hole required
