Great content Mike. Two things coming from a car veteran is wire brush does wonders and save rags and the other end of the Micrometer is for measuring depth. Better for the dowel pin measurement. I was going to say something about the pilot bushing but you figured it out. Some cars actually use a bearing. One last thing brake clean is a mechanics best friend. You could never have to much. Or a pressure washer. Clean that engine before install.😂
Your a natural presenter Mike … your commentaries are great and very interesting …. I’m not normally one for “build” videos… but can’t stop watching yours …well done buddy …
Hey Mike, those throw out bearings were the same. In some Nissans, they use a bearing and a bearing "sleeve" that presses into the bearing itself. That bottom section of the old bearing just presses out and into the new bearing. Its the same kind of setup on the 350Z's.
@@PrizzaMike Im fairly certain theyre the same part. Nissan used the same throw out for most rwd manual transmissions. Even if not, the pressure plate is for a KA anyway. Was the OD of the sleeve incorrect for the ID of the bearing?
Looking good there, Mike! Get a "Helicoil" thread insert kit for the stripped starter bolt hole. You can get large kits with various thread inserts & tools. Cheers. Leigh.
Great camera angles and footage… def need more rc drift footage.. the cars was 🔥🔥🔥 The background in the lil rc event was 🔥🔥 From the lowrider jumping as yall drifted past to the bronco with the 240z on the trailer🔥🔥🔥 Keep it up, love all the work u put into your channel..
I'm so jealous! Being able to build cars and RC drift with your brother. I live all the way in Japan, a million miles away from my family. Cherish these moments, man.
hey so i did a auto to manual swap 350z and how i got the pilot bushing out was i put alot of geese then pushing the geese with a big bolt so the geese pushed it out hella easy
i love how you explain most things you do , solid content man been binge watching your channel for the past couple of weeks keep up the content man loving it
I used to think that once a car is totaled that is it . That was before I started watching your UA-cam videos since you started the rebuild on your 240 . My mindset has changed anything is fixable
This is really interesting actually, in my country we didnt get the ka24, our silvias and 180sx's got the sr20 so this is super cool to watch a whole other countries perspective
Genuinely one of my favorite motors in my favorite chassis if there was a kit to buy this i would buy a 300zx as my drift car lmao, always been one of my dream swaps.
Hey Mike this thing you grinded down 7:40 on the crank, Nissan have same stuff on many AT engines like my friends R30 Skyline with CA18 had one and the same car but MT one had a bearing in crank
Bro. Next time. Take a tool that has the exact same size as the inside diameter of the pilot bushing and put bread in it. And hammer it in with your tool. The pilot bearing walk out pretty good. I did this with a slice of pizza on my ae86😂
as a real and rc car enthusiast who owns an mr2 and a ton of rc cars including a drift car, this vid s awesome. A lot of car enthusiats especially drift guys I know are into rc cars to wether it be drag, bashing, drift, touring or anything. I might have to pull my engine and clean it to...
Love your content dude! You're a huge inspiration. BTW The other end of those calipers you have should have a depth gauge that you can use to measure how tall something is. I noticed you were using a different part of them to measure how far out the dowel pin was, not a problem just wasn't sure if you were aware
I know it is dirty, but the grease gun pilot bushing removal tool is the way to go. Lisle part number: 55600. I am starting the KA24 swap on a z32 soon, so it's nice to see this video.
when I swapped an auto vq35se into my manual G35, I had to take out a similar bushing to get the manual trans to fit. only way I got it out was by sticking a big open end wrench into the small gap between it and the crank, and prying.
I’m interested to know the weight difference between the vg and ka , this swap is intriguing to me for the weight and size difference and I’m not too familiar with ka’s but I’m sure it’s much easier to make some power with them than the vg for the fact of you can probably get to a whole lot more things on the ka than the vg while in the car, anyways love the videos bro can’t wait to see more vids on the z
The coolant lines that hook to the intake u can delete completely will only be a headache in the future u can just run one straight from the water pump back to the heater core
Love the video I always use an open ended spanner and bolt it too the flywheel using the clutch bolts and a bellhousing bolt locking it up it’s always worked great :)
Call dad auto trans adapter. I usually just use a half inch extension and stick it in the hole and just wiggle up and down while pulling out and usually it walks that adapter out of the crank.
The throw bearing is right but you need to pull out with a press the sleeve with the snap ring on the back and then re-press the new one on the old sleeve
I would love to see someone mess with the supercharged ka from a frontier or xterra. Biggest issue I can think of is fuel and ecu choice. Pretty sure it would need a standalone. Imagine the torque from that thing.
So if the bolt is shorter and the hole deeper you think it will not hit? Maybe massure the hole dept and the bolt to the collar, or put something on end of the bolt like a paste and see if it compressed since you extended the part higher. Or mabye i'am just wrong.
@10:31, i have had to do this to every fucking pilot puller tool i have rented from autozone. they rent me shit, i return a refined tool. lmfao. nice work on using the old ticker to figure it out, this is the secret sauce for nissan pilot bearings.
You could have packed grease into the pilot bearing and found something the same diameter of the hole and hammered it into the hole causing the grease to push the bushing out. Had to do this on my dads old gmc van. Always more then one way to skin a cat lol😂
The RC footage is so sick, what a vibe, please show more from future events!
Will do! 🔥
I'm sure the starter placement was only there to make room for the turbos and downpipes on the vg30. Glad it all worked out 👍🏾
That's very true! Good point, I didn't even think about that

I understand the bearing gets pressed off
The new bearing was for a KA24de which differs from a vg30

you only need a small drop of the red lock tight. putting to much fluids in thread can cause it crack.
VQs use that auto pilot bushing too i found a pilot bearing remover with a slide hammer will get it out easy
5 in the morning and im already watching
Use a helicoil thread repair kit for the stripped holes so you can use the factory diameter bolt

I had the EXACT same situation with my VH45 swap, my auto pilot bushing was stuck like yours and I had to cut it out.....

Idk anyone who ka24de swapped tho
YAY RC DORIFTO❤❤😂😂
Yess the rsx… booo no vtec hit !
Thanks mike for the content! Deff helping me through this unemployed stint im on rn!
I had to weld a socket to the auto pilot bushing.
You can use some bread and a socket or a punch. Hammer the bread in keeping repacking the bread. It'll come right out.
You could have packed grease into the pilot bearing and found something the same diameter of the hole and hammered it into the hole causing the grease to push the bushing out. Had to do this on my dads old gmc van. Always more then one way to skin a cat lol😂

Dude I would so drive up one day from Ohio in my rsx to hang out and help you work on stuff!
The throw out bearing just knocks off the carrier that's why it looks so different mate.
You should make a wrecked 240 rc to drift that would be sick

30 degrees? I salute you
the starter location is the same on subarus, there is just no other place to put it

No spigot bush?
Iv always used bread to get pilots out
It will fit, just believe

Yo Mike, any Idea where Nate got his rain guards for the rsx ? I bought a couple pair and they didnt fit great so I threw them out.

where did u buy those RC cars?
love the videos as always keep it up u deserve 100k subs
what marker to use for the bolts?
question for you mike, where did you get your rc drift car?
You need to remove the old throwout bearing from the assembly and press the new one on to it
This. Looked like it would probably go on. Maybe
I understand how it works, unfortunately the inner diameter was different
The new one was a ka24 throw out, which is different from a vg
