      Iv been trying to make an m1903 out of paper but I can't find good diagrams of the bolt and all the parts, can't even buy 1 since I'm in UK. Any pointers/tips to make the m1903 to scale and fully functional?

      @theHSPCproject 4 роки тому +2

      You can rescale some images using a reference and a calculator. This will work well enough so the external look will seem right. Then, fill in internal dimensions on your own. Judge by the proportions of parts and feel free to make them up as long as they satisfy the material strength requirements for a part. Keep in mind many dimensions were based on fractions of an inch anyway, so when in doubt resort to whole number multiples of those.

    If you use two punched out paper roll caps and the powder sandwiched between, you will have enough charge. Use acetone instead of Alcohol. I have had 100% success with this method. 3000 rounds fired so far, pistol and rifle...works perfect.

    You can buy priming compound meant for this, you have to mix different powders that come in the kit but it's likely easier and cheaper that way.

      Phill Huddleston H48 Prime All priming compound, caps, matches, and other compounds are corrosive so you will have to clean your guns like you would for black powder. Water and ammonia to neutralize the corrosive salts. EPH20 compound is non corrosive but not available for sale so you will have to source materials and then mix them. These particular Ramset nail gun blanks use Lead Styphnate in the blank priming compound and that is non corrosive. Non corrosive are a better option unless you want to water ammonia clean your guns. This is dangerous though as the compound is sensitive to static electricity and frictional impacts so should be temporarily rendered inert with acetone or rubbing alcohol while using it.

      How to survive the apocolypse.
      Step 1. Go to the hardware store and buy .22 blanks.
      Step 2. Take the priming powder out of it and put it into your own primers
      Kind of a round about way to be doing this.

  • @pstewart5443
    @pstewart5443 4 роки тому

    You can buy the kits to make your compound. The bad side of using blanks or 22 shells is most have a ground glass friction component which will degrade the barrel just in front of the throat much faster and usually at the bottom causing uneven wear and bullet bounce coming out of the shell. Otherwise great video!

    Is the 22 blank powder more stable than cap powder ? I reloaded my homemade 9mm and I am trying to make it stable for the primer and powder

    • @hondafo50
      @hondafo50 4 роки тому

      Are you asking if the powder is more stable than the compound in the primer? If so, then yes, alot more so. The compound in the primer is lead styphnate which is an explosive. You can smack it with a hammer to detonate it, you can not smack gun powder in order to detonate.

    You should anneal primers with a tourch after hammering out firepin ding. Than clean than do your process.

    • @dragonhealer7588
      @dragonhealer7588 3 роки тому

      Tried that. They are then WAY too soft and flow like plastic.
      So don't anneal them.
      The fewer hammer blows to remove dimple, the better.

    • @joshofalltradesgendron5464
      @joshofalltradesgendron5464 3 роки тому

      Really when i started i did not aneal and normally get the ding out with one swing and a bounce in a special block on my miny anvil. Always ended up having hang fires hear and ther. Had the guy who machined tje plate to fit 100 at a time on top of my anvil after i get done hitting each one removing the ding they fit perfectly in the custome made bracket that is two sided. He taught me. To flip it over take propain or map gas after re shaping primer and aneal the striker side and ive reused same primers over and over. I just blaze them real fast let air cool take the flatener punch i remove striker ding with and tap them all out and good to go. My freind after removing dings also has similare plate but he does his in the oven than air cools also works well. Thank you for the info i will look more into it. Currently it cost the same amount or more for primers amd to reload than just buying a bulk shipment. Thank you for your time

    "Repeat for, OMG 500 times" LOL, I get ya, I've been taking my primers apart and refilling them with ".22 Prime All compound" and it's a tedious nightmare process. But, that's the price we have to pay when the government works with ammunition companies to destroy the supply chain to civilians. Thereby blocking the 2A one step ata time.

      @twestgard2 4 роки тому

      The interesting question is the overall cost to produce working ammo and the price it’s selling for right now. The time spent to make these is heavy but ammo prices are astronomical, so it might still make sense.

    • @mute8s
      @mute8s 4 роки тому

      @@twestgard2 Very true but the prices for components have also gone up but fortunately not as much as the ammo price increase. It’s still kind of hard to get certain components but for those who have been reloading for a while and have plenty of components on hand it’s totally worth it. I got lucky and just happened to place my order for my last big component purchase like 2days before everything shut down and sold out I had to wait extra long for shipping but given the situation I didn’t mind.

      @geraldmahle9833 4 роки тому +1

      Yeah? Try doing small pistol primers if you think large primers are too much work. Which is what everybody wants. (9mm, etc.) Getting the anvils out are one BIG snag. Next, they don't make American-style fat roll caps anymore. That's why you have to use two caps. Next, flatten the primer dimples from ABOVE. All you need is to restore the same space in the primer. The little dimple outside is of no consequence. Just doesn't look good. 4-5 whacks is plenty, don't need 8-9. I like the use of .22 primer material. This just a survival method until things improve. Lastly, if anybody thinks the hoarded primers will reappear once the supply resumes, think again. I never saw a glut of .22 ammo after the .22 shortage.
