Try add sprints into a work out , do short sprints then get you breath back and go again , it is great for burning fat
and you only have to do it for 15/20 mins so its a quick workout and you get great results. Also i would of said what lisalyons5381 said but she said it already 👍👍

Under eating makes your basal metabolic rate go down, so you're going to lose less weight while fasting if you under ate during a month before doing your fast.
Because your body will be habituated on running with low calories/nutrients/energy.

He needs to watch the recent YT from Kelly Hogan interviewing carnivores who were eating too little, bumped up their intake and started losing again.
Also, I was doing intense exercise 5 days a week, fasting until noon and holding onto fat (and gaining). It turns out my adrenals were shot. I was doing too much. Jeff doesn’t seem to have a category for that.
Now, I’m carnivore, walk 1.5 to 3 miles every morning and losing. It doesn’t have to be intense.

I also agree with your husband about the intensity with working out and eating less dense foods.
Also, people need to understand that we’re constantly metabolically adapting… I don’t know how many times I mentioned this but it way too often. Sometimes you have to reverse 🔄 diet

I find it really unfair how you cut him off with "but you can isolate yourself" when he talks about people bringing food into the office. As someone working in an office, where there are Sweets "for everyone" always on display and everyone bringing cookies and cake, I can tell you it is hard as well. For me it is way harder to resist in the office than at home.

I completely understand your question. I know that I under eat. I track my macros daily. What I have found, is that it is too hard, (because I have been in such a deficit for so long), for me to hit my macro goal . What I have noticed, is if I go above a certain macro then I gain even though I am already in a calorie deficit. For example, I am supposed to eat 1200 cal a day. I am doing really good to get 800 cal. That is with my macros of protein at roughly 80 g my carbs at 5 g and my fat at 30 g. With this macro of eating, but yet I still do gain if I go over this amount. I have tried slowly reverse dieting. It ends up being self defeating because I see the scale numbers and freak out when the begin to rise . I would Love to understand this as well.

Something that helped me was sticking to the same 2 meals a day. When I first started I was really inspired by Steak and Butter gal, boy she can eat and she's tiny. Goals.. On her Instagram I see her eating like 14 eggs, flanken short ribs, and chicken wings in one day. She doesn't workout, just walks her dogs. So I decided to eat 6 eggs with tallow, cheese, and 4 slices of bacon for breakfast. When I run out of bacon I just eat eggs until my next grocery haul. For dinner I have 6 ounces of whatever meat I feel like cooking. Lost 15lbs, felt stuffed all the time, and my cravings, anxiety and period pain left. I started to get dizzy, have headaches and felt sleepy. Everyone said to eat more, add more fat. I physically cannot eat as much as Steak and Butter gal but I tracked, checked measurements, and weighed myself weekly for about a month to see how much I could eat without gaining. I kept it simple by eatjng the same way I described above but added more raw cheese, tallow and butter. Its difficult for me to eat much more meat than I was, I get too full and feel gross. But I can eat some cheese lol. At first I did gain a little weight back, so the next week I just pulled back on the fat and I didnt gain. Ate the same thing for a couple weeks and started to feel so good I wanted to walk, I wanted to go out, even started pilates. Now im losing weight and not really needing to track because I know how big my HP bar is, and what consumables I need to fill it.

But for sure we all need to find out own path and if I was having issues I would for sure track
I also weighed myself 2x a day when losing over 100 lbs and found it fascinating how I would go up sometimes :) and not let it bug me and focused on the end goal of a year in my mind
Kinda like a hard hike you might have some insane obstacles along the way its not that it just gets easier and easier toward the end

Was early on in that first 6 months when I was still losing the most
I would think ‘I KNOW” I can just go hungry not listen to being full thinking I have to lose more weight :) hahahahaha
so I ignored that hunger signal I was going with and I truly knew it was less than the normal variation I had
And those next few days my scale would go up often or NOT go down
But I was OK with weighing myself never let it get to me truly was just curious how much it fluctuated
Once I figured that out I would test it sometimes to try to prove my testing and under eat on purpose for say 3 days and watch the scale and sure enough would not be as much ?
Now some days I was truly insane hungry and ate like 4 lbs of meat a day and I thought OK I have to be gaining weight today and over the next few days I would lose a lot more than usual
Made no sense to me but I was following my satiety I felt so I was NOT over eating like forcing was just truly insane hungry some days
I do think tracking and keeping a journal would have been huge to share better details of time frames for things but I also am not the journaling type person
So yeah I do think the journaling tracking can be a help for some people just like NOT looking at the scale is best for some folks :)

I just watched a video on zero carb life where this woman who had plateau after plateau did what she called Metabolic confusion
To mix it up so the body doesn’t get used to one way and then the metabolism sets at that point
So she would do a couple of days of low fat, a couple days of Omad, then a couple of days high fat through her year.
She may have done a water fast for a day or so ever so often.
I still think heavy weights like up the weight on the upper body dumbbell exercises.
I just broke a plateau by cutting my cheese down and going to 2 meals a day between 11:30 - 5
When I hit there next one I am just gonna do chicken breasts and it’s a bit of butter for 2 days. Or just 1 ribeye a day with a Pat of butter for a couple of days. Not sure which one I am gonna do first.
You are great. And doing great.

I have heard eat till you get full, and also calories matter and not to count calo. However, the only way to not overeat is to count, and my "fat" adds numbers to my calories. And depending on what I choose to eat on a particular day, I may still be hungry once I reach a certain number-- or don't want anything else, and haven't reach enough 🤔 please advise because I don't want to fail.

You can try just eating according to your hunger cues! If you find you’re not hitting your goals, you can plug your info into a TDEE calculator and get your macros. Another way for macros is whatever your goal weight is, say 130, eat 130 grams of fat and 130 grams of protein a day. And adjust as needed! That worked for me for 55 lbs thru I upped the protein to 140 and lowered the fat to 115 and had success with breaking a stall

I think Jeff had it 100% correct and then it made more sense to Courtney at the end. Each person is an individual so each individual's body biometrics will come into play. What they are actually eating, tracked with measurements is also important. There have been so many times i have assumed i have eaten less. Or eyeballed a 1/4c of something. Even measuring cups are not exact because they can slightly differ depending on the type of vessel you are using to measure. So you think its 1/4 cup and it can be a smidge more...well too many smidges will get you weight gain. 😉 then movement is key. Courtney made a good point when she said maybe by someone eating more, it gives them more energy to do more so they end up losing. I think thats possible. Are they 100% carnivore? Or are they keto? Or ketovore? Are they making too many keto snacks "desserts". So many factors for a blanket answer. I think there will be stalls. But that may just mean time to change it up. Let go of dairy or heavy cream in the coffee or the butter. So many factors to figure what needs to be done for that person. 😊 I enjoyed the back and forth convo.

16:44. I do agree here.. don’t just lift weights- it needs to be intense- we call it training.
Cycling is great too.. but not a lap or two around the neighborhood at 6mph..: needs to be intense.- 20-30-40 miles at speeds where you HR is at 75-80% of max HR.
Walking is great too.. but needs to be intense.. don’t stroll around the block. You gotta walk at a fast past- for at least an hour.. 3 mi in 45 min for example.
Point being- Whatever exercise you choose- it needs to be intense. It needs to mimic the type of hard work that humans don’t do anymore.

Needed to add.. mix things up… do short intense workouts.. like for instance… a workout where you do all out sprints- like a set of 10
Sprints - And then mix in workouts with no sprints- but long walks of an hour or two.
Or any type of High Intensity workouts- short but intense- and mix in the long moderate type exercises- like long , mod paced bike rides of 1.5 to 3 hrs for example… mix all these type Workouts.:: Going full steam all the time will just burn you out and could end up, causing some damages to the bones and joints too.. Rest days are definitely important too.
And I imagine you know that.. But I just wanted to bring that up.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to meeting you after your cooking demonstration in Austin. :)

This is how it makes a little sense in my mind. The correlation I’m noticing with the under eating and stalling/gaining is that when people have a lot of fat to lose, it comes off easily with a calorie deficit. Once you’ve lost majority of your fat and you have a small amount left to lose your body goes into ‘protect’ mode and stalls you. If you chronically under eat and continue through the stall the same way your body will actually start creating inflammation/holding water again because it’s afraid resources aren’t available. And that’s where your weight gain is coming from. Bodies can only handle this to a certain extent. So where anorexia happens is once you cut your calories so much that your body enters survival mode and starts eating muscle etc, it’s already past the protection mode and it just doesn’t have enough to continue to function.
I think specific numbers/calorie intake will be different for everyone though because everyone’s BMR is different.
    Just a hypothesis…

I like to make little rules for eating instead of counting macros, and one of those is not snacking. If I am going to eat pork rind cereal, I do it with a meal. I have to go a minimum of 3 hours between meals to let that insulin go back down. That's when stops telling your body to store fat.
