People worry too much about admitting mistakes. This world would be a much better place if people simply communicated more openly without silly fears about what someone else thinks of them.
One thing I always teach people is that it is perfectly fine to make most mistakes, as long as you learn from them and fix them. One the reasons I can personally work so fast is because I am not afraid of making a mistake, it takes me less time to fix up an occasional error than if I would to triple check everything.
It's not easy to be fully alert when awoken out of a sound sleep and in a panic. Takes a strong leader to admit when they made a mistake. But nice to see that the anchor was recovered. May you have calm water and following seas.
Ooopsies on the bitter end.... Ah the joy of a new season!... Certainly appreciate the humblest of humble captains 😊.. thanks again for sharing this fellas and fellettes always love the incredible Loon!
It's great that you show the work in the yacht in this video. I would find it very interesting to see the yacht from the inside more often and the work that the ladies do in the cabins and salons. From polishing to making the beds to cleaning the windows. So far we've seen a lot of the work outside and in the kitchen. But all three areas are very interesting.
Hello From Sunny Lake Tahoe California M/Y Loon. And to captain Paul, you did great, especially owning up to your mistakes and not blaming someone else. That's why your crew loves you.💞🚢🫰😎
Is the Captain losing an anchor equivalent to the social media person sinking a drone? 😁 Good job in recovering the anchor and keeping all the boats safe.
So pleased I am not the only one who didn't attach the 'bitter end' . I did the same thing last summer but I didn't have a dive crew to retrieve mine! A sick feeling as the last of the chain disappears off the boat.
My chum (now sadly deceased ) was captain of a new and then the largest super tanker in the world owned by Exxon when on first anchor drop after build the anchor and chain went over the side and was lost. It was recovered and refitted of course but he simply remarked that you aint a skipper if you aint lost an anchor.
Hi guys I’ve once criticised you about mooring to trees , I’ve not YET lost an anchor but come very very close , great video , everything at sea is about how you respond to problems .s..t just happens. Your team are great .
Yet again, another brilliant video. Every week now I am learning something new so when I have a superyacht in my dreams, I know exactly what to expect 🤣😂🤣😂. As always, take care everyone.
We had a great week at anchor in Beaulieu-sur-Mer. Chris and Dylan did a great job recovering the anchor after my little mistake 🤦♂️ Now we got to get down to Naples to pick up our next charter. 🛥️😎
Thanks @CaptainPaulClarke for showing us you're human because, I've never known one that hasn't. Thanks for not being that guy who would have edited lt out. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy the trip to Naples.
Phew thought Loon had lost one of her anchors. Nice recovery of it and good skills marking the gos location and for leading by example and taking responsibility. We arrive in Italy this Sunday and thanks for messaging back that Loon wont be down in Italy while we are there. Greg 🇬🇧
Fun to see the interior more in this episode. I have missed that. Probably easier to be with the boys on charter (for guest privacy), but appreciate to see the interior this time!
Great video. Love the behind the scenes details. It is a good mix of inside and outside operations. Usually the videos are over-weighted towards the outside operations.
@peterthemocline For anyone wondering, all the golf balls used in this video are environmentally friendly biodegradable balls that dissolve into fish food once submerged. We love the ocean that we sail on and would never put plastic balls into the water.
Met some friends from South Africa yesterday here in Southern California and I IMMIDIATELY recognized their accent. They were surprised when I pinpointed where they were from!! lol. They sounded like my friends from Loon!!
Another fascinating vlog , what it takes to manage a team , great behind the scenes, if i could afford a week on loon , i would spend all week with the crew !
Loved seeing the anchor retrieval. Somehow when it was first revealed an anchor had been lost, it did not occur to me that you would retrieve it. Divers doing real work.
Absolutely the Captain is responsible no matter how or why the chain wasn't secured. A captain should never shift blame away even to a crew member that made a mistake, though a private dressing down later would be in order. In the haste of securing the watercraft any number of things could have gone wrong as it happened in pressing, stressful, and less than ideal conditions, and it's not a perfect world, now is it? Frankly, it was worth the look on Paul's face was priceless when he fessed up to how it happened, and worth the mishap since property was recovered and all crew safe.
Shout out to Courtenay for her super insights BTS. So interesting to see the efforts of stewards/detailers and efforts creating the onborad hospitality vibe. She is a natural communicator in front of the camera. Well done to her and the superb Loon Team. Thanks to Captain Paul for allowing us on board : - )
Echoing other, great leadership taking the rap for the bitter end. In my hurry to get in the water off the Coronado Island off Mexico I was by myself and didn't correctly tie off my anchor line, when I surface Id saw the boat floating towards the windward side of the island and had it not been for my swim fins, it would have ended differently for me and the boat, but I relearned the correct line turns on the cleat.
Yah, for sure, and maybe a second round as well. And hat's off to the media jock's efforts, having video documentation of the entire escapade. Priceless footage !!
Lucky you only have a short chain for shallow waters, made the retrieval a lot easier! And you are not the first, or the last to have droped the anchor and chain that way!! 😉
Cool. The underwater scenes of recovering the anchor look beautiful. I love scuba diving. Question: Are you allowed to all go ashore for dinner, and leave the yacht anchored with no one on watch??
The recurring refrain in almost every episode of the Downton Abbey TV show was that the time of many many servants in big houses would soon come to an end. Now it seems that those rolls have survived as staff and crews of superyachts. Obviously the crews are very well paid, and I suspect have as much fun as the charter guests.
Imagine being a cleaner for most of your life and proud of it then doing some day work on a superyacht and realising you didn't know the true meaning of "clean". I know it wouldn't be appropriate to show but I'd be very interested to see that meeting in its entirety. Hell, I would have watched 2 hours of battening down the ship for the wind. One thing Paul, no Diver Below flag on the maker buoy? My dive instructor would have had 20 kinds of fit over that.
@@motoryachtloon out of curiosity and two separate clips you showed in the CCTV camera footage something breaking off of loon that was connected to the motorboat. What was that?

Haven’t seen Max for some time, is she still on the crew? Hope I haven’t asked a difficult question. Great update BTW, loved it, and we have all lost an anchor at some stage! 😬
I was wondering when you take the crew out for dinner, someone Will have to be left on Loon for watch? How do you decide who stays? Great video with a detailed behind the scenes what goed into keeping the vessel up to super yacht standard
Question: when you went for dinner, did you take everyone or did someone (or multiple people) have to stay back on the yacht? I figured there would be some people still there but still wondered. I loved the video and I’m stoked the med charter season is back
A very humble Captain who is totally human admitting a slight mistake. 🤗 Enjoyed the entirety of the video. Many thanks! 🍷
That he has a plan to correct the mistake is why he's the captain! 👍

Nah, it was just good training for the crew.
Would love to know what adjectives were used as the end of the chain went into the water! :)
Capt Paul - how wonderful of you to create an anchor recovery training vid. Outstanding once again!!!
Haha yep that was definitely my intention 😎
It's not easy to be fully alert when awoken out of a sound sleep and in a panic. Takes a strong leader to admit when they made a mistake. But nice to see that the anchor was recovered. May you have calm water and following seas.
Damn a two hour meeting - they deserve a treat 😂
Respect ⚓️

Haha yep whoops. Thank you for all the support Randy
I just learned recently from a different boating video about "the bitter end" I'm glad they recovered their anchor.

Renaissance didnt look so big until the shot of the people on the stern. Wow its big. The anchor recovery is a bonus. Not cheap to buy another

Another Loon video to watch while drinking the morning cup of coffee!! Perfection!
Feels sooo good to see her sparkling again ✨ laundry has never looked like so much fun 😆
Your girls have done an amazing job of the laundry xx

that anchor is totally custom so they probably cost around the same as a high end DGI!
Oh, must worse!
Always a great video. Loon is spectacular. Crew deserve all the love for their hard work! Glad you were able to rescue the anchor and chain.
Yet again, another amazing Loon video. Well Done CPC for admitting a mistake, it’s a sign of strength. Great Drone shots. Awesome video once again.. x

There is a strong moral to this tale, if you mess up, admit it, as very few situations cannot be fixed.

Renaissance looks like a wedding cake. Loon is very elegant.
Such a gorgeous yacht.
Great group you have, Captain.
What happens to the Golf balls? Are they retrievable, or bio-degradeable after they are swallowed by sea-animals🤔🙄

Interesting video. Everybody looked great at dinner. If I had it to do all over again I would go into yachting. Looks like a great life.
Good to see....
Courtney made it sound like she was popping in for a few odds and ends 🤣🤣🤣
Just 4 trollies. Basically nothing really. 🤣🤣
Love it ❤️
Have You just managed to hit MOB button when losing the anchor ?
That would be very smart and sharp decision!
Cheers!
