Glad you guys are enjoying your time in Jordan! If you still have some time head up north to the city of Irbid, a very vibrant city in Jordan and the second largest city. I agree with @canadian aviator. Crew locking of the controls sucks. I avoid the 787 when possible. I like the lower cabin altitude but it's honestly not av geek friendly. I fly to be able to see outside. I appreciate not introducing lots of extra light into the cabin, but I can't really see that well if they're locked in the darkest mode.
@@caseydorn3309 you can ask the crews to unlock the window for you. You're entitled to use the function but you be more considerate to others when you brightens it up.
I wish one day all of us who are watching and dreaming about traveling can actually travel more to learn about different cultures and end hate in this loving journey of life.
The Dreamliner windows are a hit or miss. Personally, I quite like them, and I see the technology getting improved down the road. When flight attendants take full control and dim the whole cabin, it's dark enough. I don't understand the part about it not being bright enough though. Airlines definitely love them, so much so that Airbus plans to add them to future A350 aircraft.
Excellent guide to the United 787-10. I flew on a United 777-200ER in Polaris a couple weeks ago and had a similar experience… except the IFE crashed a couple times and was gone for good. United’s meal service is not the worst and far from the best. Luckily, food quality in the Polaris lounge is very good. Better to eat there than on the plane, if you can.
If you have been inconvenienced on the flight no matter what's the cause is, you're entitled to some form of compensation. All the crews have got company issues iphone and all of them are able to issue you compensations from their device. Do not be hesitated to ask for it if you're genuinely being inconvenienced like you said. You can choose between travel credit or mileage if you're a mileage plus member.
I was the inaugural JetBlue flight to London last year (2021) and sat next to a couple who had ‘accidentally stumbled’ on to the flight. The tickets had been bought by them or their family weeks in advance and they picked the flight because of price and time. I’m not even sure they’d flown JetBlue before! I think it is safe to say they will never forget that flight. From the cheering on takeoff and landing, to all of the pre-flight excitement at the gate and numerous reminders this was not an originally TATL flight, I think they were thrilled! (Or at least I hope so..) We did manage to get some sleep too, which I was appreciative of.

How very nice to visit the Kingdom of Jordan this beautiful country can easily double as the modern Palestine and then absorb about 5 million additional Palestinians within its borders thank you very much and have a great evening 🤗🤗
As someone who traveled continously for 7 years, I enjoyed the 787's windows. Here's why. I never understood why someone would take the window seat and immediately shut the window. Sure, there are hot days and also periods of time when the sun is shining right through it straight on to everyone. For those times, yes. please shut them. But the folks who close them as soon as they get on a 9 hour flight, at the gate, I've never understood. OK, with that out of the way, yes you are right, even with the monochromatic window set to the darkest, you can still see out of it. I do enjoy looking out of the window when we're on the ground or if something important is happening. These windows do visually allow us to see out but they aren't a problem for heat or the sun beaming in. To this day, I still enjoy my flights on the 787's more so now that the series 9 and 10 have the Premium Plus cabin.
I was so glad you featured this flight. I've been to Jordan twice and it's a great country (even beyond Petra), there's so much to see. I hope this video with peak peoples interest in going there.

Hi Jeb, can you do a behind the scenes video explaining how you find/book these flights and how you determine your budget for these experiences? Thanks
Totally agree re the 787 windows. I much prefer the traditional window shade. Also, I really don't like when the FA's just close them all and you have no ability to open them/look out. Otherwise, I think the UA 787's are pretty comfortable to fly on in Polaris, and I agree that the Polaris lounges are probably the best US airline lounges in the states.

Great to see the world opening up! I also don't really see the need for doors. I prefer that the flight attendants can see that my glass is getting low so that it can be filled. 😆 And boo electronic widow shades!
If the crew hasn’t locked them, then I do prefer the 787 dimming window. With shades you have to choose between Fully Closed or Blinding Light Filling The Entire Cabin. Which can be awkward if the entire plane has their shades closed. With dimmers you can see out without 100% bright light.
I have experienced flight attendants dimming the windows frequently when they want to darken the cabin. I haven’t flown since March but I was able to make them a notch brighter each time.
@@pacmanc8103 Well they can't just set it just for your window. If they were okay with passengers controlling the windows they wouldn't lock them in the first place. Seems like a strange concept that the crew locks them and then it's up to passengers to instruct them to override their decision.
@@alanm3440 I don’t know whether it is possible to control portions of the cabin or not. Perhaps they are unlocking more than only my 2 windows - I cannot tell you the rationale of the crews, but it hasn’t only been once.

As cool as the technology for the windows is, I’m sure most people would prefer the quick ability to open and close the windows. But, being as big as they are, I’m sure if there was a mix of tinting window and shades, it would be the best.

Don't do it, Delta treats their employees so much better than United. FYI delta's A350 is also a fabulous aircraft to fly on. I personally much prefer A350 than B787
I did a number of Polaris flights last month and have to agree with you on the scores, though the food ranged from blah to fantastic, with blah being far more prevalent. However the Asian salad dressing is something I ordered for use in my house, loved it. The surprising thing for me was how good the crews were, I went in with low expectations and they all blew me away, so no, I don't think it was because of the inaugural flight. Thanks for showing the IAD Polaris lounge. One day will be able to use this lounge. My last 3 United flights had to be cancelled …
Great review Jeb. It was nice of you to mention your purser by name. I don't remember you doing that before, so service must have been amazing, especially for a US carrier.
Jeb, that dreamliner looks amazing. I haven't been on one yet but looking forward to the day I do. I may have to switch my Delta skymiles to United with all the Dreamliners they have. Great video!
Oh, I was only offered PJ's once in 6 flights, not great.
I would love a traditional window, but the size of a 787 window. That'd be awesome
Best of both worlds!
