As New Jersey resident I am shocked that his flight was on time my father always says to me if leaves late outta Newark it’s gonna be on time for Newark standards
As you took off from Newark, I can't help but think Tony Soprano is down there driving on the New Jersey Turnpike listening to Woke Up This Morning by Alabama 3 while seeing your plane. What I like most about Dulles is the Udvar-Hazy Center/National Air and Space Museum annex. A hidden gem of a museum with Space Shuttle Discovery, an Air France Concorde, plus it has a neat observation tower to watch planes take-off and land
Lately they have been really padding times at EWR. So you are more likely to be early than late. But that is just because they just add so much extra time to compensate
It’s funny I’ve flown out of Newark my whole life and only been delayed maybe 3 times. And only one of those was severe, like 5+ hours. The others were like 20-40.
The terminal at Dulles is famous because it was designed by Eero Saarinen (the same guy who designed the gateway arch and the TWA terminal at JFK that is now a hotel), and looks very modern for something built in the 1960s.
@@TheLewistownTrainspotter8102 They're talking about the terminal (where check in, security, and baggage claim are), not the concourses. And if you think a 40 year old "temporary" building is bad, my high school was a 60 year old "temporary" building.
Gotta say United is incredible when it comes to delays. A couple months ago I was flying from EWR to DEN via BNA. I was scheduled to have a 1h45m connection in BNA, but the flight was delayed 1h 43m. Thanks to United, I was able to make the 2 minute connection and arrived in Denver perfectly on time. Absolutely amazing.
Honestly, I'm surprised to hear that United was connecting anyone at BNA, but glad to hear you made the connection! Southwest connects lots of people at BNA and AA and DL sometimes do, but that's kind of surprising for UA, given their relatively small presence here.
I think Delta is just as good. I do a lot of connecting flights with Delta, and they also do a pretty decent job and making the connections. American, on the other hand, is very bad at it.
They are more likely to wait a few minutes for you if they know you are very close because of a connection -- plus with everyone already onboard it's easy for you to walk on and find your seat. They can always make up the few minutes in the sky. If you never checked-in at EWR, of course they wouldn't of waited.
@@no951 That's because the schedules usually have a lot of padding built in, although SFO is pretty good at gobbling up all that extra padding whenever there's fog. Which is always.
In Houston, sometimes its faster to walk between C and E. It depends on where the gates are at. Houston has an odd layout at the United gates. Terminal A (Delta, Spriit, AA, Frontier, JetBlue) is much more user friendly for figuring out where you are going. The gates are just grouped a lot better. Plus, TSA is usually shorter at Terminal A (at least when I fly)

I used to chat with a UAL pilot when he was off duty some 20 years ago via computer, he was the nicest person, and down to earth. He eventually left for other employment. But one day, I'm in Dallas at a bar, at the outdoor patio, I see his name, but he was having a nice conversation with someone, I didn't want to interfere, I later told him, he said I could have. About a month ago, I was online again, his name shows up, he's at a event about a hour from me, I couldn't get my roommate to go, my car needs work, so another missed opportunity.
I can't think of a time involving layovers in Denver that didn't require running through the terminal to catch a connecting flight. Nice airport, but massive.
I agree, it's huge. I was in a layover there, 7 minutes until I had to board to Nash TN, and had no idea they swapped my gates. First time flying alone, I was quite scared.
My late friend Stewart worked private security at Denver. One day he got off work and decided to go to the lower levels of the airport. Jeb, this is a crazy day, but I'll have to one up you on this one (granted these were not United flights). Due to my dad being a super cheapskate when it comes to airline travel, after a visit to see a family member in Spain this was our return flights... Madrid > Paris > Copenhagen > Toronto > Washington DC > Chicago. This was all in one day! Due to our flight into Toronto being slightly late, we missed our connection from Toronto to Chicago even though we were there well ahead of time. Just missed the one hour baggage re-check-in time for flights into the US. So we had to take a slightly later detour of a flight to DC and then back to Chicago. Let's just say, dad is no longer in charge of booking the flights! This was a miserable travel day!
Great video Jeb. This reminds me of the rail connection hunt which I made in 2014 in India between Chennai - Bangalore - Mumbai - Goa- Mangalore- chennai. All were pretty tight connections and was adventurous minute by minute. Lasted for 3 days and one connection involving hopping out of the moving train and catching the connecting train on the move in the adjacent platform .
Special note for Dulles, At the south end of the airport the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, there is an area in a tower like structure where you can watch Aircraft taking off
Jeb, thank you for the amazing compliments about the United Airlines crew members. I am a United Flight Attendant and it's always my number one priority to take good care of the guests the way that I would like to be treated.
We need American and Delta now. This video is one of my favourite videos you have, it's interesting, different, and keeps me excited for what's next. Keep this stunning content up Jeb!
Your experience was interesting and I’m glad you shared it with us. Our experience with United has been consistently good from arriving on time to no lost luggage. I’d love to see you do this with American Airlines and others. Thank you
I'm sure you know that UA considers Guam a hub as well. Now that would be a really long day, but due to the international date line you should still be able to do GUM-SFO (via HNL) -EWR (redeye) and back to LAX through the other hubs all in one calendar day! I think you should go for it.
Congratulations, Jeb! That's a hell of an accomplishment! I've been through 4 of the 6 hubs you did (EWR, DIA, LAX & SFO) with SWA over the course of 38 years' worth of flight travel time!
The IATA Code of Dulles Int'l Airport is IAD, not DIA. Between 1962 and 1968, the airport code used to be called DIA, but was confused with DCA. In 1968, it was decided to change the airport code into IAD to avoid confusion with DCA.
You're insane Jeb and I love it! This is totally a challenge I'd take on, but I don't think I want the pressure anytime soon, haha! I think other commenters said at IAH, you can cross to C to E quickly on foot, versus taking the skytrain. Enjoyed this video, look forward to the next one!
I've been binge watching your videos Jeb, they are great and they give me hope from a locked down Australia, where we cannot even go to other states due to our governments restrictions. Keep up the great work, it's great to see flying back to somewhat normal in the USA/Europe at least.
Are things really as they seem in AUS? Here in the US, many media outlets make it seem absolutely awful over there but I'm not sure if that's just fear mongering or not.
@@SKS8080 It’s a waste of time that makes him enough to afford flying first class around the whole country and makes him more money then a lot of other jobs would
@@Ephigy1 I've seen a few videos from US networks perspective, which actually pointed out how ridiculous it's getting here. Unfortunately most Aussies are happy to put up with it and think things will get better if we keep locking down constantly. You can't travel to other states/territories (we only have 8) without an exemption, there are so many rules which at times make little to no sense, and even when things do get slightly better the state governments do snap lockdowns with no warning at the slightest of cases, which has resulted in 3 domestic trips of mine being cancelled in the past year. For example where I live, barbers aren't open (even by appointment, with masks etc) because they aren't considered "essential" so I can't get a haircut, yet 5 people can gather outside for a picnic, and supermarkets are open as normal where there'd be more of a chance of spreading Covid than at a barber by appointment. 5 people can also gather outside for sport, however personal trainers still cannot have classes and make an income, even if it's max 5 people. If you are unlucky enough to be considered a "close contact" to someone who has tested positive (like I was, just by being unlucky enough to be in the same place at the same time) then you must stay home for a 14 day quarantine and get 3 Covid tests, and even if your second Covid test after 5-7 days is negative, you STILL need to stay at home for the full 14 days. Luckily my employee pays out Covid leave, but I feel for people who lose income due to being an unlucky close contact and not doing anything wrong. So yeah, that's life here down under in the "Lucky Country" at the moment :)
@@skyline3694 Sounds preferable to being in, say, Idaho, where hospitals and medics are so overwhelmed that they aren't performing CPR on adult patients anymore, because it takes too many nurses and doctors to run a code, and if they survive, they don't have ICU beds to transfer the patients to anyway.
@@Ephigy1 Things really are as bad as they seem. I'm in Melbourne, Australia. We have been in full lockdown 6 separate times for a grand total of 220+ days. Soon we'll break the world record currently held by Buenos Aires. Schools have been closed for all or part of every school term/semester since the start of 2020. We're not allowed to leave our homes except for the bare essentials. We can't go more than 5kms from home, which is about 3 miles. There was rioting in the street near my house over the weekend... and I live in one of the most affluent neighbourhoods. The most crazy thing is that hardly anyone is getting sick, let alone dying. We handed our freedoms too easily and it's proving difficult to get those freedoms back.
You sound way too enthusiastic for such a long day. I was exhausted just watching. Always entertaining and informative as always. Thanks for what you do...
I only found this channel recently. Good job on navigating the UA system. DEN is my home port so United is what I almost always fly. Since it's home, I've never had to do the full bore concourse dash at DIA, but far too many times I've run down the neon tunnel connection B and C concourses at ORD (the Rhapsody in Blue Sprint.) I've been out of hardcore flying for so long now, I didn't realize EWR was now the NY hub. When I was flying it was LGA, which I see from some of your other videos is now all new and nice and not all rundown and scruffy. Great job on this and your other adventures!
@@MichaelJW72 there is one at IAH that goes underground, but that is out of security and goes between hotels and parking lots. IAH is my home airport, so being an Avgeek, I am extra nerdy about it. 🤣
This was such a great video, Jeb. I’ve been hooked on your channel since the California Zephr video. I’m glad your travel channel isn’t just run of the mill flight reviews. All the best from Ireland - hope you get to visit here & make some travel videos of Ireland.
In this video, you might have missed Guam's airport which is also a United Hub, but the flight between SFO and GUM extends the hub hopping for more than 24 hours despite that Guam is just miles east of the Malay Archipelago, but unfortunately, SFO doesn't have a non-stop flight to GUM.
That was fun!! While still a small operation, I’m glad United has returned to JFK. I always enjoyed flying w/them in the past, especially if O’Hare or SFO was involved.
Chicago is my favorite hub mainly because it’s close to me in Detroit [DTW] and also because I’ve never been to the others! 😅 I also guessed that you wouldn’t make it… 😮Sorry 😅
Jeb I love your channel and watch most everything. I worked part time for United just so I and my family could fly free. My wife and I now serve in Kenya as volunteers at a rural hospital but my son also works for United so we still get those free flights. The added benefit is that in 6 years living in Africa, about 75% of our international legs have been in business and first class, esp during covid. So someday I'm going to try to beat your United Hub Hopping and book them from EWR to KOA. I've also done a lot of travel vlogs on my business class trips, inspired mostly by yours.
I’ve always wanted to do this, and seeing this makes me want to do it even more, excellent video Jeb! Any chance of us seeing this with AA or DL? Also, Houston is my favorite while LAX is my least favorite!😸
DL: ATL-LGA-DTW-MSP-SEA-SLC-LAX With one more hub than United, it would be tough, but might be possible in 24h. AA: LAX-PHX-MIA-CLT-PHL-DCA-JFK-ORD-DFW It would be extremely difficult to achieve in 24h unless one really got creative with start/end points. This routing assumes starting in LA in the evening, then hopping a red-eye in Phoenix to arrive in Miami in the morning eastern time.
I also went "hub hopping" last week on United! I flew 5 flights through 4 UA hubs. My routing was MIA-EWR-SFO-LAX-ORD-MIA, all in 29 hours. I had 1:20-1:50 minute layovers in every city, except a 6 hr layover at LAX. Went to the In-n-Out for the first time! And thankfully, no flights were delayed significantly!
Several comments: Neat idea. Good job, Suzanne. Denver is my favorite of these. Chicago is my nemesis. I hate to say this but it wasn't a fair test. By flying first class, you avoided the delays getting off the planes. Try this from row 30. Bet you would have missed the leg to Houston out of CHI. In my business travel days, I did get to each of these hubs. Only times I would run through the airport was for personal travel. Just wasn't worth it for business travel. My record was 12 legs in 5 days.
Awesome! It's almost like the domestic version of the island hopper. 1MM UA flyer here, been to all the hubs many times. I don't know why the airports get such a bad rap, I think they are all decent (except IAD... that is a literal trailer park lol)
DEN is my favorite United hub. It's such a huge and stunning airport. There's so much to explore there. On the other hand, ORD is by far my least favorite United hub. I feel like I always end up getting stuck there for some reason.
The US really is a huge country. If I did a hub hopping in my country (Spain) it would be two flights of 45 min each and I would be back home for lunch.
O’Hare is definitely my favorite. I might be a little biast because I live like 49 minutes from there, but it’s going going to be a monster airport after the huge renovation they’re supposed to be doing.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that does stuff like this! this was amazing! Back in May 2021, I flew YVR-YUL-YEG-YYZ-YYC-YUL-YOW-YYZ-YVR as a bit of a travel challenge on Air Canada's A220, It was insane but sooooo much fun!
Most people usually get frustrated when their flight is delayed, but I know that the airline, no matter how good or bad it is, is trying to get us going as fast as possible and I respect that. No need to go shout at the gate attendant like a psychopath.
Us: Will he do it?
Jeb, probably: What, like it’s hard?
Great job flying through all of our hubs, Jeb!

I hope this becomes a series of the three legacy carriers! This is freaking awesome, and probably one of my favorite videos to date Jeb!!! Great job!
Congrats on making it through all the hubs in a day, this was one if the most engaging videos by aviation enthusiasts I have watched recently!
This is one of the most incredible, yet relatable, records broken dude. I’d trade places just to go on the adventure.
Cringe
I think since you are Jeb Brooks, you can totally make it!!!
Congratulations, Jeb! That's a hell of an accomplishment! I've been through 4 of the 6 hubs you did (EWR, DIA, LAX & SFO) with SWA over the course of 38 years' worth of flight travel time!
I’ve flown out of EWR and connected through ORD once
The IATA Code of Dulles Int'l Airport is IAD, not DIA. Between 1962 and 1968, the airport code used to be called DIA, but was confused with DCA. In 1968, it was decided to change the airport code into IAD to avoid confusion with DCA.
You're insane Jeb and I love it! This is totally a challenge I'd take on, but I don't think I want the pressure anytime soon, haha! I think other commenters said at IAH, you can cross to C to E quickly on foot, versus taking the skytrain. Enjoyed this video, look forward to the next one!
It’s a pretty quick walk it doesn’t take long
Denver is a good hub, always consistent with its level of service. The construction gets annoying getting off the train but it’s not bad.
You forgot Guam, which is technically a United hub.
Technically NRT is also but…..
Lol a United monopoly
@@akeemlawrence9750 don't you mean Deltas Hub
Technically Tokyo, London, and Frankfurt are also hubs.
@@TysonIke nope
Hub hopping in Switzerland :
Biggest airline : SWISS
number of hubs : 2 (GVA, ZRH)
Flight time between these hubs : 30 to 40 minutes
That's because your country is small.
United is my favorite... especially with the update that is coming to their cabins!
I've had to make the "Rhapsody in Blue Sprint" in Chicago a few times myself😅
YESS!!! Since I didn't cheat I fully enjoyed the excitement of your trip, cheering and keeping my fingers crossed. This was so much fun!!!
Agreed, great story line and suspense!
I love Houston.... They've got the best BBQ I've ever had. I had a 9 hour delay in Houston. Spent alot of those hours on the terminal train
Oh yeah, I’m not afraid to say I did the same thing at DFW on the skylink😁
A lot
@@aviationandotherstuff6571 The DFW Sky Link is much more preferable since it’s outside as opposed to IAH which is underground.
@@MichaelJW72 there is one at IAH that goes underground, but that is out of security and goes between hotels and parking lots. There is a skylink like train that goes east and west along the north side of Terminal’s A,B,C,D and is only accessible to those that are through security.
IAH is my home airport, so being an Avgeek, I am extra nerdy about it. 🤣
@@aviationandotherstuff6571 that must have been built since the last time I was there. Which was about 15 years ago.
Awesome video!
Thanks so much! It was a fun one to make!
Jeb! For the Next time you're at IAH! C and E actually connect to each other! Its about a 4 minute walk!
Yes, you'll make it.
I mean regardless of delays and bad weather partially impeding your plans. However, safety is always Number 1.
On Delta you have to hit JFK, LGA,BOS,CVG,ATL,DTW,MSP,SLC,LAX, and SEA. Possibly MCO, a mini hub!!
Yes you will make it to SFO.
Edit: I’d love to see a Hub Hopping video for Delta and American!
My friend who works in airline scheduling just told me AA and delta pretty impossible as they both have 8 hubs.
Such a cool, unique video Jeb! What an achievement 😊🛫🛬
This was hard work for you! Nice video! Thanks for sharing!
I expect to see this for every airline now. Great series idea!
This is pretty cool! I would love to do this for Delta Airlines
Whoever put that panda and llama up there was amazing and that they let it stay is awesome.
This was such a great video, Jeb. I’ve been hooked on your channel since the California Zephr video. I’m glad your travel channel isn’t just run of the mill flight reviews. All the best from Ireland - hope you get to visit here & make some travel videos of Ireland.
Would love to see you do this for Delta. I'm thinking BOS-JFK-ATL-DTW-MSP-SLC-LAX-SEA.
@@SKS8080 What force gave you the pathetic stupid idea to type such a rude and condescending comment
@@SKS8080 What
What about LaGuardia. I know that going through LaGuardia would add a lot of time but it’s a delta hub
@@SKS8080 Buzz off
@@SKS8080 No it’s not. My god, what’s the problem of people who have the time and money to do this? I’d love to see one for delta and American
This is so cool! The closest thing I’ve done to this is DEN-EWR-LAX-DEN over 2 nights.
Denver is the best of United's hubs. Very clean, easy to navigate, and a great selection of restaurants.
This was quite entertaining! I enjoyed this very much! Welcome to my hub, SFO!
Umm...you forgot Guam! 😁
Chicago is my favorite hub mainly because it’s close to me in Detroit [DTW] and also because I’ve never been to the others! 😅 I also guessed that you wouldn’t make it… 😮Sorry 😅
United should offer you free flights for life for attaining this achievement.
Absolutely crazy, awesome video. As a Delta employee, I’d love to try this one day, but I think standby would make it even tougher.
No worries, Delta will win this battle. JFK->BOS->DTW->ATL->SLC->SEA->LAX
Oh yeah flying standby we wouldn't stand a chance, especially if you only have a few years of seniority.
Technically GUM (Guam) and NRT (Narita/Tokyo) are hubs of UAL too.
We closed NRT and FRA. LHR is our only international base now.
@@taylorreese7214 - But, GUM is still a hub. Right? Do you work for UAL?
Correct GUM is still a hub and yes!
@@taylorreese7214 - Cool. My sister is based out of SFO. Can't stand all of the CV19 mandates making traveling that much harder.
"Your Scientists Were So Preoccupied With Whether Or Not They Could, They Didn't Stop To Think If They Should." -Dr. Ian Malcolm, "Jurassic Park"
Yeah you will make it to San Francisco by midnight and I love your channel
I’ve always wanted to do this, and seeing this makes me want to do it even more, excellent video Jeb! Any chance of us seeing this with AA or DL? Also, Houston is my favorite while LAX is my least favorite!😸
not possible with those two because AA too many hubs and Delta's hubs are stretched out across all 4 corners of the continental US.
@@hanj31 You mean not possible because AA is never on time.
@Ryan Frisby why do you perfer IAH over LAX?
@@Ricktheruler281 just because LAX is way too complicated compared to the others.
DL: ATL-LGA-DTW-MSP-SEA-SLC-LAX
With one more hub than United, it would be tough, but might be possible in 24h.
AA: LAX-PHX-MIA-CLT-PHL-DCA-JFK-ORD-DFW
It would be extremely difficult to achieve in 24h unless one really got creative with start/end points. This routing assumes starting in LA in the evening, then hopping a red-eye in Phoenix to arrive in Miami in the morning eastern time.
What a fantastic idea for content! Now, let's see the DL, AA, Southwest, Spirit, Frontier, Jet Blue...
Delta American is impossible
She loved the idea, especially since she didn't have to come. Great line!!
Please tell me you’re going to be able to fly the new United Supersonic / Concorde V2.0
That gonna be in like 10 yrs
Me: I believe that you will make it!
Jed Brooks: I'm not sure...
At the end of the day...
Jed Brooks: You're actually right! I did make it!
Best vid you made I only fly United and Delta but mostly United
This was great. Can’t wait until you do the same with AA, Delta etc…
Best: IAH
Worst: ORD
You really need to do a Hub Tour of IAH. Voted best airport in 2020.
Fax
I also went "hub hopping" last week on United! I flew 5 flights through 4 UA hubs. My routing was MIA-EWR-SFO-LAX-ORD-MIA, all in 29 hours. I had 1:20-1:50 minute layovers in every city, except a 6 hr layover at LAX. Went to the In-n-Out for the first time! And thankfully, no flights were delayed significantly!
Oh wow! So glad it worked out for you, too!
Sounds like a great adventure!
Love the video!!
Awesome! It's almost like the domestic version of the island hopper. 1MM UA flyer here, been to all the hubs many times. I don't know why the airports get such a bad rap, I think they are all decent (except IAD... that is a literal trailer park lol)
I’m so jealous that I have not thought of this first! Congrats on surviving 6 segments in a day.
My ears would explode from all those descents....wow
DEN is my favorite United hub. It's such a huge and stunning airport. There's so much to explore there. On the other hand, ORD is by far my least favorite United hub. I feel like I always end up getting stuck there for some reason.
The US really is a huge country. If I did a hub hopping in my country (Spain) it would be two flights of 45 min each and I would be back home for lunch.
O’Hare is definitely my favorite. I might be a little biast because I live like 49 minutes from there, but it’s going going to be a monster airport after the huge renovation they’re supposed to be doing.
My hub is: NEWARK, my biggest delay is 10h :c
I'm glad I'm not the only one that does stuff like this! this was amazing!
Back in May 2021, I flew YVR-YUL-YEG-YYZ-YYC-YUL-YOW-YYZ-YVR as a bit of a travel challenge on Air Canada's A220, It was insane but sooooo much fun!
Wooo! 🎉 you did it! Glad the great panda riding a lama came through for you! And in my home town of Denver!
Most people usually get frustrated when their flight is delayed, but I know that the airline, no matter how good or bad it is, is trying to get us going as fast as possible and I respect that. No need to go shout at the gate attendant like a psychopath.
