Re-Boot Camp's Hawke Theme, but they remembered the Alarm and the "Bwoowm" Sound

- It's the little things that really matter.
Now I've said on record before, I think the theme - as is - sounds fine. I just think it's missing instruments and sound effects.
other audio sounds I added include:
*The Rain "Clang" sound effect in the beginning
*Guitar licks that get drowned out in the original's mid-point
*Slap Bass, though I fear it gets slightly out of sync at points
*Some Guitar riffs to subtly beef up parts
*cymbal crashes in the ending point
Anyways, I still have the audio files if anyone desires to play around with it further. I'm not a professional at remastering, I'm just passionate about the song. If you know you can do better, by all means here's the drive link with the audio (send me a message if sharing didn't work):

Besides adding the iconic "bwoowm" sound and the alarm, which give the right intimidating presence to Hawke, you even made the industrial clangs more potent and impactful. This is HOW you introduce the most badass CO in the game. Thank you for this rendition, you made Hawke justice

The "bwoowm" is actually a BIG part of what makes Hawke's theme epic.
Oh absolutely. That and the alarm. The pavlovian conditioning of that sound effect really sets up a fear of getting destroyed at any given moment, based on how terrifying it was when other B.H. C.O.s popped a super power.
@@vincentthelego7967 yeah, Hawke's theme uses the iconic "Black Hole noise" (that might be the bwoowm) that plays in their main theme, and a lot of their CO themes. Though Wayforward killed it with this remake!

Man went ahead and made the best version of this theme. It's satisfying how "complete" this sounds now.
While I honestly liked Hawke's theme in ReBoot Camp, I do agree that it felt underwhelming. The missing parts really do bring out the reboot's version much more now.

Yeah, it just really needed that looming despair in the beginning.
Almost all of their versions of the music was really damned good. Adder, Clone Andy, Eagle, and Drake being stellar examples. Them fucking one or two of them up is a small price to pay imo.
Kinda wish they'd fixed it in a patch or something though after getting feedback.

Hawke used to strike so much fear in my heart, he's probably the only Intelligent Systems character I am afraid of.

I picked up my original AW2 game. I got to the end of Yellow Comet in middle school, then picked it up after being reminded of it via reboot camp musics. I never got to Hawke as a kid - so his theme is not nostalgic for me.
Well today I did my first mission against him, and I feel a distinct dread. This is not just the sound of a really badass guy, this is the sound of someone systematically crushing my opposition. A turn I dread, and I sigh with relief when it is over.
It is even more terrifying in the sea fort...

yes. Twice, his Dual Strike remaster wasn't perfect either. His AW2 theme is still the best imo, same with Sturm
One of the few themes that is quite underwhelming due to the missing of these little details.

Just went through and listened to the new ost and couldn't pinpoint why Hawke's new theme didn't work, and then I get recommended this. Makes all the difference in the world.

The 0:34 beat missing was the whole reason I wanted this theme redone, but that still not being there just makes the song still feel incomplete.

The alarm makes the theme so much better
one thing that i feel is missing from hawkes theme is the notes missing at 0:34 it was a clear thingin his AW2 theme, and diminished in the dual strike version, but in the reboot version its all gone, you know the sounds of DUNN DUNN
Hmmm, I think i know what you are talking about. Those two electric guitar strums. Another person pointed it out too. I think it was a case of me not being able to sync it up right, so I didn't keep it in.

Realistically, I was gonna remaster the "Power" variant for Hawke next. I haven't actually done a Jess mission yet so I haven't listened to keep from spoiling myself.

That metal pipes soudn effect has to be the same one used in the weapons factory in SMRPG, right?

Did you improve the mastering as well? I feel the drums pop a lot more, not just the BWOOM
I did. It was a bit of a practice project to learn new programs.
@@vincentthelego7967 Turned out real nice. I prefer this over any of the official Hawke renditions. The Reboot camp version added some cool stuff, higher fidelity samples are always nice, but overall it just... didn't hit as hard, you know?

Small request. Wayforward left the little jingle bells out of olafs theme that really cements his wintery aspect. Could you do that one, too?
Personally, I don't take requests. But, as a consolation, I have considered showing people how I made these in the first place.
Say what you want but new Hawke looks so much cooler and less goofy than old AW2 Hawke lol.
The Super CO themes should have been the base turn tracks, and they should have just brought back the old SCOP song back from more than just the story.

I'm no master of mastering, I just did what I felt made it sound how people would want it without too many risks.

Not likely something I'd do personally, but anyone's welcome to do it themselves. It should be fairly easy to loop, and I'd likely tell people about it if someone actually does that.

That's certainly possible. While I was picking and choosing which midi samples stay and go, it's likely some sounds either had a hard time fitting with the wayforward version (imo, at least), or I just straight-up missed how important it was.

I immediately thought the song lacked the charm aw2 originally had, that and plenty of themes.
Hawke theme is really disappointingly underwhelming in reboot camp imo. Those "Bwoowm" really gave his theme some eeries vibes. I've always imagined Hawke to have a disturbing, yet dramatic past because of his original theme.
In Spanish his name is "Maverick" for some reason.....

I know I'm a minority in this, but I kinda prefer the original AW2 design of Hawke rather than the reboot camp. I tihnk he looks too much of an edgy sourpuss in Reboot that's dime a dozen. Dual Stirke also did the same. Maybe it had to do something with his trenchcoat, I dunno. The AW2 portrait he seems a bit more upbeat and smug in a more collected and confident manner.
Even the synth in the beginning sounds off compared to the original, sound like generic club synth
A lot of the new themes are great, but some absolutely fall flat.. which is disappointing. Little hits and mixes here and there that they botched really bad. A tambourine hit on jess’ theme, not emphasizing the hi hat on parts of adders theme, really makes those themes feel hollow. A little goes a long way
I personally miss the trumpet section of both variants of senseis theme. Granted, his power variant is a bop, but still, GBA trumpets were godlike back in the day.
