- Ugh. The problem with me is I extend a bunch of music and don't upload them. So...there is going to be some music that are still 10 minutes long. Sorry 'bout that...
But anyways, Hawkes theme! I hardly ever play Hawke, but when I fight against him...he's...not...nice. Only because he has Black Storm. Even though it doesn't hurt TOO much, it bothers me when I don't have full health units. But that's just me.
Hawke is a pretty cool dude though. I like his character and his role in AW 2 & DS. His theme may not be my favorite, but it does say..."I'm going to own your face and there's nothing you can do about it." Pretty much.
Image/music not made by me, just extended.

Hawke considered relatable by the greatest Roman Emperor that ever lived, huge endorsement

This is one of the few ones where I think the old version still reigns supreme
1000% Agreed
Definitely. In fact, even among fan creations, the original Game Boy still trumps over all of them.
I don't know why but this one is frenetic, like a (Black) Storm: The eye is calm, the center is peaceful, but anything trying to get close will be obliterated. The other theme variations usually lack said frenetic nature and are somewhat more slow or less impactful in a sense. I think they just try to convey Hawke's calm behavior, but it doesn't fit because while his demeanor is calm, his actions and results are anything but peaceful and solemn.
Hawke is an enigma compared to the other COs of Black Hole. The other Black Hole COs goals are easy to see. Flak just likes showing off his strength, Lash wants to be free to run unethical experiments without anybody objecting to them, Adder is a sadist that likes seeing people scream and run from his troops, Sturm wants world domination and threw a temper tantrum with the message of "If I can't control the world, I'll destroy it" at the end. But through it all, Hawke's motivations are never entirely clear. He seems to want Black Hole to rule the world still, but how much will they have a hand in directly running things? He's cold, calculating, and always, always, ALWAYS thinks of the long-term when it comes to his plans. He didn't tolerate Sturm trying to blow all the COs up, he didn't tolerate Von Bolt draining the world dry of it's life force. Through it all, Hawke is the only Black Hole CO that thinks of the future when it comes to everything he does while the others just chase short-sighted gratification. Maybe he wants Black Hole to dominate the world in a sustainable way? Maybe he just wants Black Hole to be more than just some tiny island nation with almost no territory? Maybe his plans for the world are more sinister than he lets on if Black Hole were to gain absolute power? It doesn't seem that he wants to lead Black Hole, at least he doesn't want to be it's leader openly. He could have easily just replaced Sturm at the head of power after he killed Sturm, but for some reason he chose not to and instead Von Bolt took it for himself. We may never know exactly what goes through this man's head but one thing's for certain, he's definitely got an agenda of his own that he's always working on, no matter who he pretends to "serve".

I know everyone likes Sturm for his theme and his meteors, but I always thought the way Hawke spoke, along with his cold and unnerving composure made him a lot more intimidating.
He made Sturm seem like a cartoon dictator in comparison.
Campaign Missions against Hawke in the nutshell
Hawke: *activate SCOP*
Me: ouch. Well, I can take.
*Next few turns*
Hawke: *activate COP or SCOP*
Me: ALREADY?!
Shadow Drifter Yet ( With the exception of Sturms CO power) he has the longest co power charging time
Lord Rndom I think it's because I keep destroying many of his units within short time... especially in Drake's first mission.
Shadow Drifter Probably as he himself has one of the larger unit counts in the game, but other than that, he has that longest charge up time. Drakes first mission already has a fuck ton of units.
Lord Rndom Something they changed in AW2 capaign compared to the first game: giving you and your opponent many expensive units (just played senseis second mission... just tell me if you got 6 bombers at the beginning of any AW1 mission and your enemy has almost no anti-air-units).
copower is generated by how much cost destruction you do so if you make a 10 inf to 5 that may fill up a tenth of a star but making a 10mdtank to 5 will fill up half a star. (note: these are not exact numbers this is just a reference)
Hawke's theme always gives me that impression at the start of each turn that he means business. I mean look at the dude. He's got no nonsense written all over his face.
Hawke:

At least it is written so in german, and i think there is no better way of saying: "I am goddamn serious."^^
Well, in english it say Hits and Misses not Likes and Dislikes :D And to be honest i think it would be cooler if in german it would be Treffer and Fehlschüsse not Fein and Nein xD

Honestly. Hawke is one of the few villains that you just cannot dislike because not only is he feared and just flat-out badass and intimidating, he seems to have carry a sense of honor with him. Also, he's one of the few COs that didn't commit something that could be seen as a war crime, as for the other Black Hole COs:
Flak: Attempts to use a nuke on Blue Moon in T Minus 15
Lash: Destroyed Olaf's hometown in Toy Box
Adder: Threatens to slaughter multiple Yellow Comet cities in Duty and Honor
Sturm: Planned to blow up the entire planet in Final Front
Jugger: Tries to nuke the Orange Star HQ in Omega Land in Reclaim the Skies
Koal: Allowed the usage of the Black Crystals and Black Obelisks (which literally destroys the Earth itself)
Kindle: See above
Von Bolt: Willing to steal the world's lifeforce just so he can keep his scrawny old ass alive.
Case in point, Hawke is a pragmatic but also an honorable badass of a villain!
His character gets even more interesting in Dual Strike
Wow, what a coincidence that both the villains that use RNG for attacks (Flak and Jugger) both use nukes!
Does that mean there's a chance the nuke will just break and not explode?
@@UltimaDoombotMK1 probably
I'd say Hawke is less of a villain and more of an anti-hero, but you bringing up about him being the only black hole CO to have not committed a war crime is really interesting.

@@hawke6902 Yes, I'm Koal :)
There's a theory out there that stated that hawke is clone of a former dictator of BH way before sturm commanded the nation
"To be defeated is to lose everything. Are you prepared for that outcome?"
Hawke. That guy who's the second-in-command of the bad guys forces, and obviously he's going to be stronger than average. But the thing I like about the guy is that he's *RATIONAL* .
- When you beat his factory, he simply orders the BH forces to "do as they please" before faking his death.
- He kills Sturm before he can trigger a self-destruct and basically kill everyone, before seizing power.
- He tags up with Von Bolt, because power.
- Then, when he senses something fishy, he attempts to find out Von Bolt's motives - and when he gets attacked by Oozium, simply defects.
- He may, if you choose to let him do so, also kill Von Bolt. And then (unsuccessfully) fakes his death again.
...Did he really have a change of heart? Does he have a crush on Lash? Did he turn on Flak and Adder because it suited him? We may never know.
I think he just values Lash because she is actually pretty useful as an inventor and CO
also she is a little young for Hawke lol
He also has respect for Andy for some reason.
B buster well besides eagle, Andy and Hawke are rivals. Have you seen there mission with only air and naval units?
I still don't get the whole relation with Hawke and Andy (though they're complete opposite) one's a happy-go-lucky idiot and the other one is a thinking ahead wise tactician who is quite edgy has a bit lust for power. I think it may have been something about that one map in Hard Campaign that involves them fighting, without land units. It's quite rushed but straighforward an easy story if you tell me though.
@@butteredsalmonella I brought it up first tho lol. They likely have a relation since Andy thanked Hawke for saving everyone by killing sturm. Otherwise, I couldn't tell you.

There exists a near perfect counter to this guy in Andy. Would have loved to see the two fight each other at some point in Advance Wars 2. They are mirror images.
Andy's a carefree kid, and Hawke's a serious adult.
They do in the hard campain. Too bad the map is pretty easy. The first mission of the hard campain is more difficult.
I somewhat agree but you should pop activate his power when your enemy has built a lot of expensive units on factories/cities to inflict maximum financial damage. Because when the turn starts the first thing to happen is repairs/resupplies so you can’t pop your power to save yourself from spending money on repairs. But still Andy’s SUPER CO power can swing the tide of battle if you keep your low health units alive. I mean it’s heals 5 points, grants +1 movement, AND +20% attack/10% defense.
The mission in the Hard Campaign is where Andy shall learn what an airport is, gaining all power.
Even then, Hawke would face Andy with respect and fight him with 100% of his power without underestimating him, because for Hawke its aways about victory.
"To be defeated is to lose everything".
Yessir. Used andy on green earth's last mission, and I'm amazed how effective he is against hawke

That's like someone who just kicked your ass but nicely informs you that you have some work to do before you can match them.
Badass character with a badass theme, you really see and hear that he means business. It's kinda funny if you think about it - Hawke's theme fits a lot more to a big bad final boss than Sturm's, some relentless force. While Sturm's theme is very cool, it's more "light" and relaxing, even a bit whacky, jazzy. But yes, Hawke totally deserves this.

Oh man. Imagine this guy as an assist trophy in Smash Ultimate. That would be such an awesome homage.
I want him as a fighter. He's probably skilled in some type of fighting style because he's toned as hell in his casual outfit.
If I could, the assist trophy would have a "Health steal" property: Any damage you inflict in the opponent, you get back a small percentage as healing.
A percentage since Smash is a fighting game and needs different rules, but life steal sounds like a nice power.
Hawke means business compared to his fellow cos, can't wait to see him in action
can't wait any longer for 1+2 to come out, i *need* to hear what his updated theme sounds like
Hawk was always my favorite character, both in his demeanor and to play, with each unit being more powerful and his super power being really nice. It allows you to gain just a slight edge over your opponent, gaining 2 health and dealing 2 damage in health, meaning you can shift momentum in your favor and actually defeat them if you strategize correctly, but it doesn't just give you an instant win. It is potentially the most powerful, as while not a lot of damage, 2 to every unit on the map in terms of resource cost is insanely high
I actually liked this guy he was solid
They actually do fight. In the Hard Campaign, Hawke challenges Andy to combat in the Orange Star sequence. With an ulterior motive of course.
I like to think Hawke is both honestly complimenting Andy's skills AND also pragmatic with his underhanded motives to keep him away from a more important position.
Honestly, I think he's intrigued and honestly wants to see if he can turn Andy... He seems to do pretty well at handling energetic young prodigies.

Favorite CO in Advance Wars 2 and DS
ayy lmao
As a kid, I skipped playing Dual Strike because it sounded a bit disappointing as sequels go. (My taste always went towards a game being balanced and tasteful, and DS sounded like a step back on the whole.) Just recently, I gave the game a shot, and while I only played Hawke a little bit in AW2, I played him almost exclusively in DS once I unlocked him. He's such a basic CO to play as, but he works perfectly for me with an effective +0.5 damage that most of his units would dish out, and his CO power both healing and harming. No more foibling between playing Andy, Grit, Olaf and Drake for me.
+IamSalvatore In't the most basic CO is andy ?
It's easy to say that, but Andy really feels more like a defensive game, focus on keeping your troops alive so you can heal them later, avoid combining them where you can... His CO power, when planned around, drastically changes how you play him. Whereas Hawke, you fire and just forget about the CO power. It's done its job with a more modest heal, plus the ability to harm enemies just enough that many of your units can score easy OHKO's after being topped off in health.
