Rabbi Tovia Singer Shows that Paul Quoted a Nonexistent Prophecy of Jesus’s Death and Resurrection

  • It would be easy to argue that Paul was the most important convert to Christianity. Had Paul not joined the small, inauspicious movement, if he had not engaged in his extensive missionary activity, the fledgling group would have joined the ranks of many other Jewish sectarian movements, and vanished without a trace. Instead, as a direct result of Paul’s influence, Christianity was transformed into a worldwide religion across the Roman Empire and beyond. How did Paul manage to develop a small Jewish sect into a worldwide religion? In this eye-opening broadcast, Rabbi Tovia Singer illustrates how Paul invented and manipulated passages from the Jewish Scriptures in order to persuade potential converts that Jesus was the promised Jewish messiah.

Robert Anthony Daem Unfortunately these clueless Judaists (and some Muslims) take Singer at his word... if he explains it in a sensible way it acts like confirmatory balm to his ignorant listeners.
I've watched a fair few of his videos in hopes to gain further understanding of Old Testament from a people that are supposedly focused on the first 39 Books of the Holy Bible.
However in reality... I've found myself having to write comments to correct what could have only been a deliberate misrepresentation/ deception. Whilst his need to lie strengthens my own faith, it is reprehensible that he might be keeping some of the lost in the dark.
His desperate attempts to appear affable, and speak with a phony humility, I believe is evidence he knows deep down he is doing the work of the Devil.

Your problem, stalker.... is you think God chose Israel to make His name because you are somehow special. In reality however... you are rebellious and unfaithful, you made a golden calf when Moses left briefly. And Judaists don't follow the Tanakh, they follow their Rabbis.
Besides this, the Jews wrote the New Testament in Greek. Your special race claims are nonsense, as well having to speak Hebrew to be able to worship God. In fact, you personally sicken me to suggest such a thing.

I have no reason to believe KJV has been deliberately perverted, any time you've tried to show me an error it hasn't been there, and that has been the case all through my life that the KJV is an honest translation any and every time I check Hebrew or Greek.
The fact that God had my Bible written in Hebrew is just a happening. He is the God of ALL people, and made the roots of ALL languages at Babel. The arrogance of you though is a total disgrace... same sort of crap the Pharisees said to Jesus, you're a huge shameful example of it.
The Jews in reality have been a stunning example of IRREVERENCE to the Creator that chose them for such a wonderful task, disrespecting Him over and over again at every turn! Then when Jonah preaches to Ninevah they repent straight away. So if anything.... I would suggest there is something inherently WRONG with Jews.

The way this verse relates to the Messiah is first through the messianic promise of the Davidic Covenant (2 Sam 7:12-16), which functions as the basis for David’s trust (cf. 16:1). The word “your holy one” (חֲ֝סִידְךָ) is a unique Messianic title in the Hebrew Bible that never refers to David.
The parallelism between David and God’s holy one in Psalm 16:10 is similar to Psalm 4:3 (Heb., v. 4). God hears David’s prayer because He set apart the holy ones (חָסִ֣יד) for Himself. David is one of the holy ones who benefits from God’s actions for them. In the same way, Psalm 16 argues that David’s resurrection is guaranteed by God’s raising of His holy one, the Messiah. Psalm 16:10 is an explicit text in the Old Testament that brings together the concepts of resurrection and the Messiah. Psalm 22 is proof that this kind of thinking was not isolated but interconnected. The promise of the Messiah’s resurrection is set into motion in Psalm 22.
    Psalm 22
There is a confident hope that neither David nor the Messiah would be forsaken (עזב) or given over to experience the corruption in Psalm 16:10. But Psalm 22 presents a situation which endangers that hope, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken (עזב) me?” But for the logic of Psalm 16 to work, the forsaking must refer to being abandoned in Sheol-the psalmist or the referent of Psalm 16:10b (the Messiah) has to die. Psalm 22 describes that death in detail (22:12-21). However, Psalm 22 advances to life after death (22:22-31). That is only explainable by the resurrection.
David’s life does not fulfill the details of this psalm, which speak of execution and death. It must refer to the Davidic Messiah. The Messiah’s resurrection was David’s confidence for his own, and by extension, the hope of all of Israel. Isaiah writes about the Messiah carrying the destiny of all of Israel and the world in his death and resurrection.
    Isaiah 53:10-11
The Davidic Messiah who suffers dies (Ps 22:12-21), and is raised (Ps 16:10; 22:22-21) is Isaiah’s suffering Servant. Building on the previous revelation, Isaiah 53:10-11 describes his death and resurrection as part of Yahweh’s will. It pleased Him to crush the Servant. That this crushing led to the death is made explicit in 53:9, “And they made his grave with the wicked and with a rich man in his death” -he was buried; burial confirms death in addition to the crucifixion. Isaiah, along with the Psalms, confirms that the Messiah would die. However, the Davidic Covenant would fail if the Messiah stays dead (cf. 2 Sam 7:12-13). His resurrection becomes critical to fulfilling God’s promises. This is only the beginning but please know, I love and respect you Rabbi, but the real question is why do you protest so much, why does Christianity bother you so much...Focus on Finklestein who is dismantling the OT story by story.

Unless the Sanhedrin had Jesus's body transferred from Joseph of Arimathea's sepulchre to that of the Beit Din (Big House of Law = Supreme Court), his grave was never with the wicked. But there's no mention of such a transfer anywhere in the gospels except as implied by Mary Magdalene's panicked jump to a conclusion in John 20. It seems Christians wrote the gospels with one eye on the lookout for "prophecies" of their messiah in the Tanakh, and still got it wrong.

The point is it takes a traumatic experience like Jonah had for your Jewish people to bring God's message to us poor Gentiles. Peter in Acts Chapter 2 makes this analogy. David's tomb is still with us so Psalms 16:9-11 does not refer to King David. Who does it refer to when it says, "you will not leave my soul in Sheol or allow your holy one to see corruption?" As far as source Q is concerned why does there have to be a "source Q" when Luke could have simply used Matthew as his source.

  • @Freethinkingtheist77
    @Freethinkingtheist77 5 років тому +3

Rabbi Singer completely misrepresents the sign of Jonah. In Matthew Jesus is absolutley clear: "For as Jonah was three days and three nights and the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth." When read in its immediate context Rabbi Singer is simply wrong. The sign is the burial and resurrection of Christ. The subesquent judgement will be brought through the Ninevites. What a shame that in his explanation, which appeares so comprehensive, he barely even touched on Jesus' words about the three days and three nights.
Neither does he account for levels of prophecy used by the New Testament writers. For example prophecies in Isaiah 7 and 9 regarding the birth of of a child had an immanent fulfilment and a longer term Messianic application which is picked up by Matthew. Likewise the Messianic psalms. It is no coinccidence that Jesus applied psalm 22 to Himself while on the cross. I'm not saying the passage in Hosea 6 was of this nature, I'd need to research it, but Rabbi Singer didn't even acknowledge how New Testament writers handled prophecy in his analysis of Hosea 6. This is very disappointing and his argumentation is far from convincing.

If Jesus was suppose to be in the earth 3 days and 3 nights than how does him being buried on Friday around 6 pm and being raised by Sunday morning fulfill the full 3 days and 3 nights? That means he was only in the earth Friday night all day and night on Saturday and Sunday morning.. so how is 2 nights 1 day and a half in the earth fulfill the Jonah prophecy?

@@bel31670 That's a fair question. My answer to that is that we have to understand how the Jewish people measured time. Any part of a day would be counted as one day. So it is not the fulfilment of full 72 hours that is what is important but the sign of the third day.
If I can give a modern day cultural example: when somone dies, in Ireland (where I live) they are always buried the third day after they died. If they die at 11.00pm on the Saturday that counts as day 1. Day 3 would be any time after midnight on Monday - it is just over 24 hours later but it is culturally considered day 3. It is the significance of the day that counts not the hours that have passed.
The Jewish listeners would have understood Jesus' meaning. If the Gospels are a fraud it would have been very easy for the writers to ammend this point by having Jesus rise after a full 72 hours.

Freethinkingtheist77 Matt 12:40 For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Jonah 1:17 And the LORD appointed a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.
It clearly states 3 days and 3 nights not just 3 days..also where in the Old Testament does it say the messiah will die and be raised on the 3rd day.. I am just searching for the truth.. I have found nothing in the Old Testament that’s says that or anything close to this paraphrase “ I will send the messiah who will die for your sin and raise him on the 3rd day and you must believe in him as your lord and savior..” also the lie the church says that the law is burdensome and is impossible to keep. When God say twice it is near you so you can keep it and in the new it say Gods law are not burdensome...

    Most Respected Rabbi.
If Paul quoted a nonexistent prophecy claiming Jesus' death and resurrection, that must not be surprising as it is part of Paul's common practice of propagating falsehood and deceit. This is no judgment of mine but a testimony supposedly uttered by Paul, who brazenly quaifies himself as a liar, saying:"But if through my falsehood God's truthfulness abounds to his glory, why am I still being condemned as a sinner? And why not do evil that good may come?" Romans 3:7-8 (RSV). The question is: how can evil bring forth good? More importantly: how is it possible to reconcile such sayings of Paul's with the reported teachings of Jesus when the latter is alleged to have said:"You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles?" Matthew 7:16 (RSV). Surprisingly, Christian apologists still boast about what they call 'the inerrancy' of their scriptures and the 'historicity' of Jesus' 'resurrection.

    @NewCovenant75 8 років тому +26

While Mr. Singer may disagree w/ Paul's methodology (I know, for a fact he does) of messianic application of the Old Testament, his primary thesis in this video is patently false. When Paul asserts that Christ died and rose 'according to the Scriptures', here's what he has in view: as regards Christ's death - "he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken" (Isaiah 53:8). Now, I already know that Mr. Singer does not believe that Isaiah 53 refers to Jesus Christ. That is not the issue: the issue is what Scriptures might Paul have had in view, in claiming that Jesus's death was predicted in the Old Testament. Paul believed that Isaiah 53 predicted Jesus's death--case closed on the first point. As regards Jesus' resurrection on the "third day": in Hosea 6:2, we read "in the third day he will raise us up". Christians, including Paul (as his writings attest), have always believed in Christ's resurrection on the third day, as the first resurrection upon which all other resurrections at the Last Judgement depend. In this same chapter (1 Corinthians 15), Paul refers to Christ specifically in this way: "But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead. He is the first of a great harvest of all who have died" (1 Corinthians 15:20). Paul's reading of the Old Testament is informed by this belief, that any reference to future resurrection (even metaphorical reference) mentioned applies, in the ultimate sense, to Christ's Resurrection, upon which all other resurrections depend. Thus, while Mr. Singer may think that Paul's methodology is flawed, or that the verses he applies messianically are not messianic, his claim that Paul is referring to non-existent Old Testament prophecies is patently flawed and false, in that Paul did indeed have specific Old Testament verses (as well as a general messianic promise, which the Old Testament embodies) in mind when he said, "Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:3).
To study the beautiful dynamic of the relationship between Christ's resurrection and all others to follow at the general end time Resurrection, see Jesus' dialogue with Martha in John chapter 11: "Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live" (John 11:23). Jesus IS the resurrection according to New Testament belief; thus when Paul refers to Hosea 6:2's "in the third day he will raise us up" to Jesus's resurrection, it is understood that the "us" to be raised will be applied first and foremost to "Him" who had to rise first in order for us to rise in the future.
So object all you want to Paul's choice of Old Testament verses, alleged mistranslations etc. etc., but the fact remains that Paul DID have Old Testament verses in view in 1 Corinthians 15:3, and they make perfect sense to those of us who believe with him that Jesus of Nazareth is the one and only True Messiah. There will never be another.

Wouldn't know him if he slapped him in the face.. So... How did he know it was JC that appeared to him? How? He had know idea who JC was. Cant anyone make this claim? People claim to see JC and the virgin Mary all the time, but do we believe them?
Why would JC tell Paul to teach everyone things that were opposite to what he taught? Paul is a fake!

" this is what Jesus did for the new covenant. It isn't complicated,"> how on earth can jesus come with that new covenant from god as promised in jeremiah when jesus in his OWN words says that his mission is to DEFEND n FULFILL all those laws n traditions of the prophetsfrom the old covenant i.e. the old testament as christians call it, to the smallest letter till HEAVEN n EARTH expire, n that whoever doesnt do the same shall be the least in god's eyes (Matthew 5 17-19)..have the heaven n earth expired yet? so what r u people doing here? how clearer can jesus be on what his mission was? did jesus ever say in his own words that he came to bring a new covenant from god as promised in the earlier scriptures ? come on.. only paul n his like-minded followers who say jesus came to bring that new covenant..paul even went out of his way to define what that new covenant was about in a completely diametrically opposed way to what jesus has emphatically asserted in Matthew 5 above..
clearly if CHRISTians mean the followers of jesus christ then u christians should maintain n follow the law (torah) n the prophets coz that's what jesus really wanted u to do.. but if u still wish to follow paul (who was never even an original disciple of jesus) n go completely in the opposite direction of jesus, then u people should consider calling urselves PAULstians coz that term suit u people MUCH better...

      44. We have revealed the Torah, wherein is guidance and light. The submissive prophets ruled the Jews according to it, so did the rabbis and the scholars, as they were required to protect God’s Book, and were witnesses to it. So do not fear people, but fear Me. And do not sell My revelations for a cheap price. Those who do not rule according to what God revealed are the unbelievers.
      45. And We wrote for them in it: a life for a life, an eye for an eye, a nose for a nose, an ear for an ear, a tooth for a tooth, and an equal wound for a wound; but whoever forgoes it in charity, it will serve as atonement for him. Those who do not rule according to what God revealed are the evildoers.
      46. In their footsteps, We sent Jesus son of Mary, fulfilling the Torah that preceded him; and We gave him the Gospel, wherein is guidance and light, and confirming the Torah that preceded him, and guidance and counsel for the righteous.
      47. So let the people of the Gospel rule according to what God revealed in it. Those who do not rule according to what God revealed are the sinners.
      48. And We revealed to you the Book, with truth, confirming the Scripture that preceded it, and superseding it. So judge between them according to what God revealed, and do not follow their desires if they differ from the truth that has come to you. For each of you We have assigned a law and a method. Had God willed, He could have made you a single nation, but He tests you through what He has given you. So compete in righteousness. To God is your return, all of you; then He will inform you of what you had disputed.

    "Resurrection and Virgin Birth"
Examples of gods who die and later return to life (Resurrection) are
Osiris, Tammuz, Adonis and Attis, Dionysus. And you
might be surprised that they predate Jesus.
These are gods Born from "Virgin Birth" Before Jesus
Christ: we have Horus, Osiris, and Attis. Before 200
B.C. we have Mithra, Heracles, Dionysus, Tammuz,
    Adonis, and others
Two thousand years before Christ, the virgin Egyptian
queen Mut-em-ua gave birth to Pharaoh Amenkept III.
Mut-em-ua had been told she was with child by the god
Taht, and the god Kneph impregnated her by holding a
cross, the symbol of life, to her mouth. Amenkept’s
birth was celebrated by the gods and by three kings,
    who offered him gifts.
Ra, the Egyptian sun god, was supposedly born of a
virgin, Net. Horus was the son of the virgin mother
Isis. In Egypt, and in other places such as Assyria,
Greece, Cyprus, and Carthage, a mythological virgin
mother and her child was often a popular subject of art
    and sculpture.
Attis, a Phrygian-Greek vegetation god, was born of
the virgin Nana. By one tradition, Dionysus, a Greek
character half god and half human, was the son of Zeus,
    born to the virgin Persephone.
The Persian god Mithra was made the “Protector of the
Empire” by the Romans in 307 AD, right before
Christianity was declared the official religion. Some
versions of Mithra’s story, predating Christianity,
make him the son of a human virgin. His birth, on
December 25, was seen by shepherds and Magi, who
brought gifts to a cave, the place of his birth

I do agree, against the beliefs of nearly every Christian pastor, that anytime the Apostle Paul referred to the holy scriptures, that he was referring to the tanakh. The reason why Paul's writings which were merely instructional letters to the early churches, were included in the New Testament was for the very purpose of instructing churches in order to create uniformity in the Church of Christ. Because he is a messenger, that doesn't make him a prophet, nor make his writings Holy Scripture.
However, the revelation of the Apostle John, is a divinely inspired word of God and that, along with the words of Christ, are all holy scriptures.

Rabbi Singer, as a Christian I see the Old Testament as being full of typological installments which are fulfilled in Jesus. The 1st century New Testament authors, who were mainly Jews, interpreted the Torah, the prophets and the writings in this way. They knew full well the original context of the verses in the prophets but they applied them in new ways to Jesus and from the beginning the argument Christians have made has been that Jesus is the New Israel. Tested in the wilderness, just as Israel. He passed the test, they failed. Melchizedek was a high priest who was greater in priesthood than that of the order of Aaron and Jesus was a priest according to that order (as was David). God said he would make the office of priesthood and the Kingship One office in Zechariah. Jesus is the fulfillment of all these things. Not in the immediate context; in a greater way later on. I actually talk to other Christians about these verses because the believe the prophets were looking forward into the future and making prophecies about Jesus. Actually they were talking about the immediate or near future in their own times but these events were all summed up in Jesus. I believe this was the view of the NT writers as well.
The story of Jonah compares the prophet Jonah's time in the belly of the great fish as being in "the pit" (the grave/death/sheol). He was there 3 days and came back alive (i.e. he was "raised up") and then he preached to the people of Nineveh who were Gentiles.
Sure, many of the 1st century Christians had no idea that the world would continue on for 2,000 years. All they knew was that the fulfillment of the prophecies had occurred. Paul thought if he could get to Spain he could take the Gospel to the point furthest west in the whole world. He had no idea there were Gentiles waiting to hear the Gospel across the Atlantic Ocean but God did. God is waiting to bring them all unto himself through the Jewish Messiah (Jesus) and then when all of us and all the Jews he foreknows come to faith in His Son who sits at His right hand the end will come.
The people of Nineveh will condemn the Pharisees of Jesus' day because they repented due to the preaching of a lesser sign and an inferior prophet. The Pharisees had a greater prophet and a greater sign and still denied and refused.
If you read and respond, thanks for your time. I like your show.

This a misrepresentation or more a Gloss of 1 Corinthians 15. Paul did not write this text and he even says as much. 1 Corinthians 15:3 (KJV) For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures. Paul makes the statement that he himself received this Hem and Most all Scholars place this writing in the first 3 to 5 years after the Crucifixion of Christ ( which you conveniently overlooked) and considered to be one of the earliest hems ever recovered. Furthermore, if this Hem was not true then Christianity would have not survived, but to the contrary, Christianity spread throughout the Roman Empire like a fire which has no explanation. Also certainly, no one at the time disputed the Hem, which again, was within the first several years of the Crucifixion. As a matter of fact, no one disputed 1 Corinthians 15 in 54 AD when it was written. Certainly, the eyewitness that Paul claims to have seen the risen Christ would have still been alive "to this day" as attested by Paul.
The Jews were the first followers of Jesus as written throughout the New Testament, Jesus was a Jew, Paul was a Jew the Apostles were all Jews. The only exception is possibly Luke? Jesus did not have disputes with the Jewish people but with the Pharisees and the Sadducees.
Also, there are many texts that speak of the Massiah but you rejected.

Chapter 15 is evidence that either that some Christian Scriptures were already existing and recognized as such or that there were Scriptures that existed at the time of Paul that were removed because those Scriptures were giving Jews trouble in maintaining their rejection of Jesus.
That would be possible because every complete Jewish Bible was written extremely much later than any of Paul's letters. It follows that there could have been Jewish Scriptures that existed that were removed and there would be no complete codex of Jewish Scriptures as early as Paul's writing. The only alternative is that Paul was so convinced that the book of Jonah was about Christ that he meant Jonah when he said accoeding to the Scriptures. That is a case of you either you see it or you don't.

I'm about 25 minutes into this video and I appreciate you Mr singer, I will say this what I thought I understood about the Trinity was really only from proof text but you have helped me along with a few others and I'm starting to see that God is one God besides him there is no other. but I think Christians have misunderstood Paul I can think of three instances in acts where he is calling people to repentance toward God and of course faith in Jesus Christ whom you don't believe in however that's another matter it just seems to me that Paul did have a message of repentance..... Here are the passages but I'm sure you are aware of them, you know the Christian Bible well, therefore I like how you say you're not setting up straw men. But here are the passages; acts 17:30; 20:20-21; 26:17-18.,,,, Shalom!!

So how do you explain Jewish scholars from the talmud who thinks there will be two messiahs? Ben Yosef and Ben David? How about their theory was close enough, but failed to realize that God is capable of raising from the dead 1 Messiah to accomplish both missions? If you do not believe in resurrection, then you are not waiting for a messiah, because you know when the Messiah comes the dead will be resurrected. The first resurrection for a Christian is resurrection from the death of sin to life in God.

I find this very interesting that most will act as if this is a "Christian theology" when it is absolutely in the Talmud and the Zohar that the Messiah could come and die for the community and rise again (Suffering Messiah Ben Yoseph and Triumphant Messiah Ben David). Yet, I hear this often how supposedly the Christians (Paul, etc.) are purely going from the NT and do not have the backing of Jewish Bible. Scripture's clearly speak of how the Messiah will come, and wars cease, etc. However, there are also prophesies in the Tanach about His suffering, even those in the Talmud knew this. They wrote of how the Tanach teaches BOTH (Triumphant/Suffering Messiah). Yes, even the possibility of the Messiah having to DIE the first time He came. This, according to them, was if He found them unworthy at the time of His first coming. Most would agree, at the time of Yeshua, there was some shady things taking place in Jerusalem as far as who was the High Priest, etc. The main point being, even the Jewish people believed, the Jewish Bible was saying the Messiah may have to die and come back at a later time.
Mashiach Ben Yosef in the Zohar: “When the Mashiach hears of the great suffering of Israel in their dispersion, and of the wicked amongst them who seek not to know their Master. He weeps aloud on account of those wicked ones amongst them, as it is written: But He was wounded because of our transgression, he was crushed because of our iniquities”… The Mashiach, on His part enters a certain Hall in the Garden of Eden, called the Hall of the Afflicted. There He calls for all the diseases and pains and sufferings of Israel, bidding them settle on Himself. Which they do. And were it not that He thus eases the burden from Israel taking it on himself. No one could endure the sufferings meted out to Israel in expiation on account of their neglect of the Torah. So scripture says: “Surely our diseases he did bear.” As long as Israel were in the Holy Land by means of the Temple service and sacrifices that averted all evil diseases and afflictions from the world. Now it is the Mashiach who is the means of averting them from mankind until the time when a man quits this world and receives his punishment… “ 24
This is speaking of Isaiah 53:5-8 and disagrees that it is speaking of Israel, and not the Messiah. Talmud - Mas. Sukkah 52a: What is the cause of the mourning (mentioned in the last cited verse)? R. Dosa and the Rabbis differ on the point. One explained, The cause is the slaying of the Messiah the son of Joseph, and the other explained, The cause is the slaying of the Evil Inclination. It is well according to him who explains that the cause is the slaying of Messiah the son of Joseph, since that well agrees with the Scriptural verse, And they shall look upon me because they have thrust him through, and they shall mourn for him as one mourneth for his only son: but according to him who explains the cause to be the slaying of the Evil Inclination, is this (it may be objected) an occasion for rejoicing? Why then should they weep? - (The explanation is) as R. Judah expounded: In the time to come the Holy One, blessed be He, will bring the Evil Inclination and slay it in the presence of the righteous and the wicked. Talmud above also shows they believed the Messiah could very well die for the sins of the people. Yes, not all agreed, however, it proves that even the Jews knew it was a real possibility that the Messiah would have to die for the sins of His people. Talmud: “R. Joshua opposed two verses: it is written, ‘And behold, one like the son of man came with the clouds of heaven; whilst elsewhere it is written, ‘behold, thy King cometh unto thee lowly and riding upon an ass!” ’16 After much discussion on these seeming contradictory passages, the Rabbis concluded:” If they (Israel) are meritorious, he will come with the clouds of heaven; if not, lowly and riding upon as ass”17 Which “lowly and riding upon a donkey (ass)” is exactly what Yeshua did. As far as the Messiah having to die for the sins of the people, some quote ezekiel 18:20-21, as to say that it proves this can not be, "The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him (18:20). But if a wicked person turns away from all his sins that he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does what is just and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live." .
Again, the Talmud and the Zohar disagree... Here is some interesting commentary from a Jewish man…Sorry, I couldn't figure out his name, anyway, the Zohar is referenced. “Isaiah 57:1 The righteous one perishes, and no man takes it to heart; men of kindness are gathered in with no one understanding that because of the impending evil the RIGHTEOUS ONE was gathered in. He will come in peace; they will rest on their resting places - he who walks in his integrity. (Tanach) Zohar states (III 118b): "If the sins multiply in the world, then ALL the righteous suffer in order to cure (bring to repentance) the generation. But when THEY are not so much, then ONE RIGHTEOUS PERSON suffers and the rest are left in peace because the world does not need their sufferings. If the people are cured (they repent) then the righteous are cured. There are times that righteous men suffer their whole lives to protect the generation. When the sins get very great, the righteous die, and that causes them to be cured, and they are forgiven"” Continuing, “In Rabbinic literature the reason why the righteous suffer even when they have not sinned is so that those who see their suffering should repent of their sins. Isaiah 57 explains this. It is similar to the reason why a sacrifice is brought for an unintentional sin. He should look at the innocent animal and say that I should be that sacrifice and repent of his sins. This is clearly stated in the Zohar (III 57b): "All those who are pained by the suffering of the righteous their sins are removed from the world... all those that are pained from those righteous who have died, or who sheds tears for them, G-d proclaims over him, 'Your sins are removed, your iniquities removed.' Not just that, but his children will not die in his days as it says, 'He will see seed, and lengthen his days.' (Is 53:10)" The suffering is to effect repentance and hence atonement of sin. Suffering does not atone. The repentance that one does because of the death or suffering of the righteous atones.”

I have a question. Why is it that Christians are healing people and casting out demons in the name of Jesus but there are no Jewish rabbis healing people are casting out demons in any name?
I was once attacked by a demon and using the authority of the name of Jesus, I called down from heaven the same fire that consumed the offering of Elijah in his competition with the prophets of Baal, and the fire burned the demon and cause it to flee. If you don't believe that, then that's not my problem. You're just a non-believer. why don't you just say that you're a non-believer rather than trying to spend all your time and energy destroying the gospel of Christ?

Rabbi, I'm sure you are aware Michael Brown dealt with this topic in Volume Three of Answering Jewish Objections to Jesus. If you are going to try and disprove 1 Cor: 15 then you have to disprove that typological prophecy is a legitimate category. Jesus pointed to Jonah's three days in the belly of the fish as a typological prophecy of His own death and resurrection. There are many other three day instances in Tanakh, some of which Michael Brown includes in his book. If prophecy can be typological then there is no requirement for a verse in Tanakh to literally say "Messiah will rise on the third day".

Jesus will return and he will die LATER ON and he did not die on the cross and this is the prove from the quran that Jesus will die at the end (( when he return ))
    16. And mention in the Book (the Qur'an, O Muhammad , the story of) Maryam (Mary), when she withdrew in seclusion from her family to a place facing east.
    17. She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them; then We sent to her Our Ruh [angel Jibrael (Gabriel)], and he appeared before her in the form of a man in all respects.
    18. She said: "Verily! I seek refuge with the Most Beneficent (Allah) from you, if you do fear Allah."
    19. (The angel) said: "I am only a Messenger from your Lord, (to announce) to you the gift of a righteous son."
    20. She said: "How can I have a son, when no man has touched me, nor am I unchaste?"
    21. He said: "So (it will be), your Lord said: 'That is easy for Me (Allah): And (We wish) to appoint him as a sign to mankind and a mercy from Us (Allah), and it is a matter (already) decreed, (by Allah).' "
    22. So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a far place (i.e. Bethlehem valley about 4-6 miles from Jerusalem).
    23. And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a date-palm. She said: "Would that I had died before this, and had been forgotten and out of sight!"
    24. Then [the babe 'Iesa (Jesus) or Jibrael (Gabriel)] cried unto her from below her, saying: "Grieve not! Your Lord has provided a water stream under you;
    25. "And shake the trunk of date-palm towards you, it will let fall fresh ripe-dates upon you."
    26. "So eat and drink and be glad, and if you see any human being, say: 'Verily! I have vowed a fast unto the Most Beneficent (Allah) so I shall not speak to any human being this day.'"
    27. Then she brought him (the baby) to her people, carrying him. They said: "O Mary! Indeed you have brought a thing Fariya (an unheard mighty thing).
    28. "O sister (i.e. the like) of Harun (Aaron) [not the brother of Musa (Moses), but he was another pious man at the time of Maryam (Mary)]! Your father was not a man who used to commit adultery, nor your mother was an unchaste woman."
    29. Then she pointed to him. They said: "How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?"
    30. "He ['Iesa (Jesus)] said: Verily! I am a slave of Allah, He has given me the Scripture and made me a Prophet;"
    31. "And He has made me blessed wheresoever I be, and has enjoined on me Salat (prayer), and Zakat, as long as I live."
    32. "And dutiful to my mother, and made me not arrogant, unblest.
    33. "And Salam (peace) be upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive!"
    34. Such is 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary). (it is) a statement of truth, about which they doubt (or dispute).
    35. It befits not (the Majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son [this refers to the slander of Christians against Allah, by saying that 'Iesa (Jesus) is the son of Allah]. Glorified (and Exalted be He above all that they associate with Him). When He decrees a thing, He only says to it, "Be!" and it is.
    36. ['Iesa (Jesus) said]: "And verily Allah is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him (Alone). That is the Straight Path. (Allah's Religion of Islamic Monotheism which He did ordain for all of His Prophets)." [Tafsir At-Tabari]
    37. Then the sects differed [i.e. the Christians about 'Iesa (Jesus)], so woe unto the disbelievers [those who gave false witness by saying that 'Iesa (Jesus) is the son of Allah] from the meeting of a great Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection, when they will be thrown in the blazing Fire).
    38. How clearly will they (polytheists and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) see and hear, the Day when they will appear before Us! But the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers) today are in plain error.
    39. And warn them (O Muhammad ) of the Day of grief and regrets, when the case has been decided, while (now) they are in a state of carelessness, and they believe not.
    40. Verily! We will inherit the earth and whatsoever is thereon. And to Us they all shall be returned,

I don't believe in Christianity but I acknowledge when something is fraudulent. Quran stories of Jesus originate from heretical works, fables and forgeries. Infancy Gospel of Thomas, Arabic Infancy Gospel, Gospel of Barnabas, Gospel of James, Gospel of the Nativity of Mary, etc. So if I believe the Non Testament is untrue to begin with, the Quran to me is that much more unreliable for copying blatant forgeries that were non canonical and heretical. To me it's like the Book of Mormon. It claims to be Christian but it obviously has nothing to do with the canon of Christianity and is nothing but a forgery. I don't care what you think of Jesus because he's not my prophet but I believe both the "New" Testament and the Quran to be untrue.

His holy one will not see decay. Paul wasnt talking about a physical resurrection. He was talking about dying to his carnal man and the resurrection of the dead spiritual man caused by Adam. The hope of Abraham and all the prophets. The catholic church Corrupted the texts! Hebrews and Romans confirms this. The messiah reconciled mankind to Yhwh and restored eternal life thru Yeshuas Righteousness and obedience by his death to himself, which we must also do. His righteousness covers our PAST sins. Most scholars dont understand the bible. Yeshua was never supposed to be a king that would sit on a literal throne. The OT prophecies were about a spiritual kingdom and heavenly throne. No wonder no one understands! They've been deceived by the trinity and all that other inserted paganism. The sign of Jonah was the preaching of repentance and obedience not a physical death.

In 1 Corinthians 15:4, Paul says that "...He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures;" the usual understanding here is that the reference is to the Old Testament Scriptures in the same way as there are other references in other places in the NT (Luke 24:25-27, Acts 2:25-31, 26:22-23), but while the Old Testament does mention the work of Christ (Psalm 16:8-11, Psalm 22, Isaiah 53), the OT does not explicitly mention that He would be raised on the third day, so this wasn’t what Paul had in mind here. Instead, Paul was referencing the scriptures that were then in existence that DID mention the resurrection on the third day, and those were both Matthew's and Mark’s Gospels that were written just four years prior to his letter. Here, Paul endorses both Matthew and Mark as Scripture.
Remember, the Apostle’s teaching is considered the very Word of God (1 Thessalonians 2:13, 1 Corinthians 14:36-38, Colossians 1:25, 2 Timothy 2:9, 1 Thessalonians 4:8), they were accompanied by signs and miracles that served to authenticate them as the messengers of the revelation (Hebrews 2:3-4, Acts 14:3), and intended to be read to others as authoritative scripture (2 Corinthians 10:9, Colossians 4:16, Revelation 1:3).

First, I want to say that I believe in the ONE true God of Deut 6:4-5 ONLY and despise the pagan god of Rome, which nearly all of Christianity follows. But, regarding Paul's claims in 1Cor 15:3-4, it seems to me that Paul may have been referring to:
Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. 9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
Did not Jesus make "his grave" in the "rich" man's tomb, referring to Nicodemus?
Psalms 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. 11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Isn't it true that the body of "Holy One" would have had "corruption"(body decay) after 3 days of death? And doesn't Christ sit at the "right hand" of the Almighty now?

From my understanding "injil" was a scripture and it says Kitab which means book. At least four books are mentioned by name in the Quran: Torah, Zaboor, Injil and Quran. This has always been taught. Also I always hear Muslims say "New Testament is not the same book Jesus had." To my knowledge the first gospels ever written were the Gospel of Matthew and Gospel of Mark.

Mount Sinai You're not alone for the inability to unspam, it certainly is some new issue I can't unspam people either. Why my reply got marked spam in the first place is a mystery though.
What Muhammad said was the book that the Christians had, the canon was certainly decided by Muhammads late time and we have more manuscript evidence than ANYONE in the world. Only insincere and frankly weak Muslims would say there is a book for which there is literally ZERO evidence, and indeed does not exist!!!
_"So let the people of the Gospel rule according to what Allah revealed in it. Those who do not rule according to what Allah revealed are the sinners"_ ~Quran 5:47
Different Christian sects sometimes have extra books, but they ALL use the 27 we have in New Testament. If Christians judge their religion on those 27 we have done according to what Muhammad said anyway.
See... Muslims accept Quran because they grew up believing that, then they try and force Bible to conform to it. The actual proper course an objective person would take is have HB as their foundation, and match Quran to it. And it doesn't because it denies the Cross. This is why Christians are actually more Muslim than the Muslims, because they fail to do this measure as Muhammad prescribed.

I’m a Christian, non trinitarian, there’s only one God, YHWH my Heavenly Father and one Adoni, Yeshua Ha Mashiach.
I agree with much of what u stated, and yes, the only scriptures the Judaeans had in those days was the Tanakh.
However what we have today is an edited copy by the hands and interpretation of a masoretic counsel.
The tanakh we read today is not like the original, nor did the scribes fear YHWH enough to pen the texts perfectly.
The Septuagint, although more reliable, was still tampered through transmission.
Your assertion about Paul’s statement in 1 Corinthians 15 is false and unprovable.
You are arguing from silence since many writings were arguably destroyed or discarded during the first and second century; especially during the siege of ad70., when Jerusalem fell to the pagan Romans.
We don’t know what scriptures they had in those days since all we have is a Masorite biased tanakh.
Most Jewish synagogues won’t even regard Isaiah 53... the perfect fulfillment of Yeshua!
So your argument doesn’t stand, and if anyone desires to follow you on this, they too have turned to deaf ears...
Yeshua is the Jewish messiah, he reached out to his countrymen, he died, rose again.
He said he would return in his generation to judge Israel and he did... ad70. The true covenant Israel was no more since then.
No more temple, no Levite priesthood, no animal sacrifices, and no genealogy for the people. No Jew today can prove his tribe.
Those Zionists there are not Jews but imposters and synagogue of Satan... without Yeshua, none will see the kingdom of YHWH
Your blood is now free from my hands. Trust Yeshua is Messiah and believe Ha Shem raised him from the dead and you will live eternally.

The Jews in Medina at the time the Prophet migrated there from Mecca went to see him and asked him to remove his garments and when he did The Jew saw a birthmark on the Prophets back which was a sign to them that the Prophet to come would have it. Do you have such teachings in your books? Is Mohamad even mentioned in Talmud?

Paul is referring to the feast days. The harvest. The firstfruits being Yeshua and the last of firstfruits at Penticost. Also, when the NT speaks about death burial and resurrection it’s referring to spiritual death of our carnal man not a physical body. A LIVING OFFERING. Unfortunately the spiritual teachings of Yeshua were corrupted by pagans and their lies inserted into scripture. I personally think that Paul was actually Yeshua as he clearly said HE came for lost sheep of the house of Israel and there is no prophecy about an apostle Paul coming. Rev. 2:2 would confirm this. Yeshua had to be alive after the 69th week which is just before the 70 th week of Daniel 9.

there Is just to many coincidences in the Jewish srcriptures referencing it. That’s why it’s called prophecy. It’s hard to tell what it’s saying a lot of the time until it’s played out. It’s very symbolic. There are just to many passages to support the Messiah having to suffer. I just read another one the other day: “See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.” -Isaiah 49:16. Even the very passages Jews use today to look for the Messiah have to be interpreted. Like the same one Christians use today where Moses says that there will be a prophet that is similar to him. It wasn’t talking about a pacific prophet but any prophet, but it has always been understood to reference the Messiah. There are a lot like that. This guy is in denial. He has to give long explanations to explain away a lot of the miracles in the Jewish scriptures talking about Jesus. This guy is the magician.
