    Hello Hisplers, please I will like to hear from you... Do you think the CIA and British govt had a hand in Murtala Muhammed's assassination as Nigerians claimed based on his foreign policy direction or it's the other 3 mistakes? Leave a comment pls.
    Thank you.

      The CIA and the perfidious British were behind the murder of our beloved Murtala Muhammad! I'll explain why! The great Murtala Muhammad and the great King Faisal of Saudi Arabia were going to collaborate with each other on certain projects! if these two potential economic and military titans (Nigeria in Africa & Saudi Arabia in the Middle East!) had succeeded....Africa and the Middle East today in 2022 would be totally different!
      The West were still smarting over the bloody nose King Faisal gave them when he unleashed his economic sanctions on them in 1973! King Faisal was killed by demented MK Ultra controlled nephew. Africa and The Middle East have never been the same since!

    The best leader Nigeria has ever had, but unfortunately Murtala Mohammed had very dark past in his record, he committed genocide against the Asaba people during the Nigerian civil war, he was also accused of killing the whole members of a church congregation even after they had surrendered to the Nigerian forces, sometimes we are hunted by our past actions, Karma is real. The evil that men do lives after them, excellent story thanks.

      Yes, he was the best leader that ever rules Nigeria. If he had lived to conclude the transition to civilian our fortune would have been different. The best man would have won the 1979 election. We would have been saved from this harrowing experience that we are experiencing today. To our shame he only served for six months with lots of achievements to his name.

    Boy! This video left me very sad. I was in High School when General Murtala Muhammed was assassinated, and I still remember very vividly where I was, and what I was doing. This man gave me a sense of identity as a Nigerian, and he encouraged me to aspire to greater heights as a human being. I will always hold him dear to my heart, as both a fearless leader and a bold human being. I've since modelled my life after his; I speak the truth always, no matter the cost, and I strive to wipe away corruption in our society. One day I hope to ascend to the presidency of Nigeria and continue with the posture of General Murtala Muhammed. The country needs a fearless leader such as Murtala, in order to banish the blight of corruption in national government. We first need to re-organize the police force and institute a salary restructuring, including paying police officers twice a month, so that they always have money in their pockets. That will go a long way to reducing the tendency to seek extra money from their constituents, who know such activities are wrong. Once you clean up the police, go after politicians who earn far too much money for the average Nigerian to understand. Nigeria is destined for greatness, but the work is really enormous. Know this. It can be done. Nigerians are yearning for the right man to come along. I am that man.

      Hello Mr. Douglas, God Almighty will surely help you to actualize your vision for Nigeria 🇳🇬. I am impressed with your truthfulness and bold vision for the country. Truly, Nigeria needs a leader that is bold and ready to step on toes if that is necessary to make the necessary change. We can't continue like this and we can't continue to sit idly waiting for God to come down and do it for us. Murtala was carefree about his personal security. As bold and courageous as he was, he supposed to know that several people would surely not be confortable with him... May God help you actualize your lofty aspiration for Nigeria...amen. Late General Murtala Mohammed was indeed a rare, enigmatic, objective, altruistic and highly charismatic leader but his perspectives on national issues were unpopular with the subjective and prebendal lieutenants around him which culminated in his assassination. Nigeria today is in the hands of grossly incompetent leaders clearly devoid of capacity. May God save Nigeria!

      Thank you Barr. for your kind words. Murtala Muhammed had a history of stubbornness and disrespect to constituted authorities. He featured prominently in the Asaba Massacre. With all these dents, Murtala never bordered about personal security probably because he felt he was popular among the civilian population. It's unfortunate though that it ended badly for him.
      Nigeria is in a terrible state partly because the people have not been able to perform their role...this can equally be attributed to the disfunctional education system we have.

    From my father's account of this event, a junior officer who was in charge of signals when they plotted the coup. My father was lucky he wasn't part of the coup that lead to the killing of Muritala. He was suppose to be on night duty that day, but took permission to attend a church program that he preached that day. So he was absent that day.that same evening, they came to Ikeja cantonment, took soldiers that were on duty that night, and these soldiers executed the coup. My late dad was lucky not to be part of the coup.

    I personally don't feel any pity for Muritala Mohammed because he too was complicit in the shedding of innocent blood. According to confirmed History of him masterminds the killing of civilians at Asaba during the Nigerian Civil War comes to mind. He was one of the major masterminds of the July 1966 counter coupe where innocent Igbo Military Officers that knew nothing about the January 1966 coupe were brutally killed. I don't support killing of a human being BUT as I mentioned earlier, I don't feel any pity for him because he had a hand in the killing of innocent people either directly or indirectly.

    Karma66;
    Murtala Mohammed and T.Y. Danjuma Kidnapped and massively tortured and murdered Aguiyi Ironsi and Fajuyi on July 29, 1966 Revenge-Coup Dammisa II - and proceeded to embark on a murderous orgy of over 30 Officers of Eastern Nigerian Origin in one Night (Igbo, Efik, Ibibio, Ijaw, Ogoja, Kalabari, etc,) before continuing on a genocidal flat-out ethnic cleansing of any and all Easterners (Igbos and others)- for the January 15, 1966 Coup that involved Officers and men of all tribal groups in Nigeria. - Nzeogwu, Ifeajuna, Victor Banjo, Adewale Ademoyega, Olufemi Olutoye, Dimka, several Hausa- Fulani Officers and men, etc.. Nigeria's Highway to Hell began that day. The government has done its best to tell lies and manufacture history and now History is now no longer taught in schools leaving the young and old ignorant to the point of self and National destruction. They Blood of the Dead is now descending on all in the coming implosion and there would be No Place to Hide or Run to, along with the rest of West and Central Africa. Thieves, Deceitful, Incompetent Sociopathic and Psychopathic, Tribalistic, callously- wicked and visionless leadership led us here and we continue to recycle the same snakes and scorpions. No Christian, Islamic Vigils or Juju Sacrifices or charms will help us in a Nigeria that is now full of Failed Leadership, Bandits, Boko Haram, ISIS, FulaniTerrorist, Freedom-Seeking Ethnic groups in the Middle-Belt and Southern Nigeria, Abusive and Incompetent Police, DSS, Military, VIO, Road Safety, Civil Defense, Customs, Immigration, Federal, State and Local Bureaucracies, dysfunction and unreliable institutions which gives No Nigerian a sense of Belonging or Nationhood to hang your hat on. Buka Suka Dimka was Yakubu Gowon's brother-in-law, something that is often overlooked. I remember that morning, Friday February 13th, 1976. Parents who had dropped their kids off at schools, suddenly started showing up to collect their children. I remember one parent telling my class teacher that there had been a coup. My father showed up and bundled all of us into the car, and gave a James Bond-like driving display to get us home as swiftly as possible from Ebutte Metta to Igbobi. I also remember the day that Dimka was executed at Bar Beach. We were trying to get to the beach , so that my grandmother, who had never seen the Sean in her life, could have that experience; the traffic entering Victoria Island from the Marina, was impossible. I deduced the reason and told my Dad what I thought was happening (a nine-year-old me....), and that evening, it was confirmed. We could not watch the spectacle when it was broadcast later that night, because the big problem of low voltage was affecting NEPA horribly (at least, there was electricity) - this was the era of black-and-white TVs, and the picture used to roll terribly when voltage fluctuated. That evening, not even the V-Hold knob was any use in stabilising the picture.

A few years earlier, there had been the execution of Dr. Oyenusi and his gang (I do not think that was televised, but I remember that the newspapers had the photographs of all the condemned criminals). Still in the 70's there was the execution of the gang that robbed a company called Bolous (if I remember correctly) of ₦50,000. That execution was also public.
