The writers seem to forget practical things like the front gate of Ash’s base being powered ONLY by the generator (that loses power a lot) and not having any backup locks/chains to prevent it from opening…. as well as the leader of the big bad enemy group traveling so lightly with very little backup support…. Seems like the writers plan what’s gonna happen without really thinking of the practical nature of it all
I keep thinking that if I had a gate between the walkers and I that was ran by a shoddy generator, I would have some sort of padlock on that gate or something. 😂
Carol fucked up his whole sweet setup and then manipulated this nice guy so bad!! She's getting it done but I wonder if she just told him the truth about Sofia and explained Daryl and hers story , he would have done it. I'm sure this lie will be a heavy cross for her to bear
@@WarGrowlmon18 Agreed. Carol’s superpower is her ability to appear nonthreatening. I’m always expecting her to use that now and she hardly does. I suppose she tones it down but she does seem a bit on tilt. The Sophia flashbacks are probably our hint she’s not 100%.
Not denying that lying to him was messed up, for sure, but it was hardly her fault that the lightning struck his generator and blew up his fuel and set fire to his entire place. That would have happened even if she hadn't ever showed up. At least she convinced him to get the plane all set up so he was ready to hop in and go when it happened. I do still wish she'd just tell him the truth, though...
I enjoyed the episode looking forward to them reuniting! I also enjoyed the retrospective show of the characters, and revisiting filming locations. It just goes to show they are paying attention to UA-cam, it reminds me of some of that content. I really enjoyed that. Thanks James for sticking in there and creating content i really appreciate that .
Holy cow, Daryl was really ready to end up that French lady!!! Anyways, welcome back my favourite spinoff (sorry Negan & Maggie, sorry the Grimes) and welcome back James... Let's hope to a wonderful season ,
I know Carol is a badass and they took the time to build that up narratively, but her being able to subdue three men with a crossbow while like 17 other men run and hide from her is absurd.
That lie she told Ash tastes bitter. I can understand why she lied, however it brings back memories of Sophia. I do not fault her, desperation can make people do things that they normally wouldn't. Honesty is usually the best bet, but Carol is not willing to gamble a chance at finding Daryl. Ironic how the last name, Pelletier is French, so her story works.
Hi James I loved this episode which confirmed my theory about Carol's journey which goes through Greenland on her traumatic visions which are reminiscent of Joan of Arc's visions the end scene with Daryl is even more improbable when you know that the pink poster behind them says in French can we say that we'll see each other again later
It was mediocre and a lot of it felt too clogged. I find it strange how Ash’s base has had multiple issues with power and security yet he wasn’t been able to fix it. I would assume it to be of importance as walkers easily could have killed him years ago. Carol lying to him about Sophia was odd and he probably would have helped her if she told the truth regardless. Realistically Madam Genet wouldn’t be in that convoy or would have had an entire company of soldiers.
Yea the door issues with just every door constantly unlocking made me roll my eyes. Also Carol lying constantly but not lying about going into the memorial building made no sense. Just say “the walkers chased me so I went in here” 😂.
I did enjoy the episode but the Genet scene almost came across "fantastical" same with the lightning. Not sure if they're trying to do a god works in mysterious ways thing? Or just plot conveniences lol
I loved the episode, Ash turned out to be a good guy. I didn't like that Carol lied to him but I understand she was going for the sympathetic parent connection.
Great video James! I wasnt able to watch right away so I waited to watch your video. I loved seeing Carol again but I agree about some stuff was really unbelievable. How Genet got away was downright ridiculous! Carol for sure is badass but she overtook those guys too easily when the bike broke down. BUT gotta overlook some things I guess! I'm still glad it's here and look forward to see how it all plays out...thx James!
Yes so glad it's finally here! I think we may get plenty more 'unbelievable' stuff this season haha - Thanks as always - and I really mean it - Thank you so much for sticking around so long my friend!!!
I’m actually feeling sad right now because I watched the episode and I just wasn’t interested. I’ve watched this show like a religion since season 2 and I’ve never felt this lack of interest. I think the way the ones who live ended has really killed my enthusiasm more than I realized. I hope that changes.
@blakematthews6374 Same here, finding the writing so forced. Madam Janet dialogue with Darrel and getting away thanks to the explosion was The Ones Who Live level writing. Painfully bad. And the plane storyline is reminiscent of Fear. Hope it gets better
Really great episode!! Was glad they explained the flight plan somewhat. It’s far fetched for it work but it’s not impossible, good enough for me!! Hot take…Genet is a Ninja 🖖✌️
I enjoyed the Daryl stuff minus the BS Genet disappearing act. However, the Carol stuff ain't working for me. I am starting to lose the ability to suspend belief. One day after meeting a stranger, he agrees to fly her to another country. Not working for me. I've watched the TWDU weekly since the beginning and I'm not sure how much longer I can do it.
Dude same here. Ash “This isn’t urgent care!” Really??? They should have Carol get help from the CRM since Rick destroyed the evil part in a day🙄 but at least universe wise it would have made more sense! Instead of finding some stranger by chance
Yes the Darryl part of the story was good except Genet pulling a Micheal Myers on us. Besides that truck there was nothing but air in the way to the building. She would had to have ran (injured mind you) in record speed to a doorway because that building was pretty big and there was nothing else there. As for the Carol part. It was so lazy. Everything was so Conveniently setup! No way 15 years into the Apocalypse would there be some guy flying a plane. The flower scene, him having a son die the same way and everything else they had in common. Not to mention the your my sunshine song that Karl sang to Negan🥱. So stupid! To connect the universe they should have had Rick cameo and had him connect someone from the civic republic and have them get Carol a plane to fly!
Good opening for season 2. I did think the guy with the plane who said he has everything he needs, just dropping it all to fly a problem stranger on a very slim chance of finding her daughter in Europe, is incredibly unrealistic. But, as you say it's a zombie fantasy show. Hopefully Carol added to this season will be more than just fan favorite writing, but an important part of advancing the story.
I've been checked of WD out until DD S1. I actually enjoyed this first episode. I found myself saying 'Oooohhhhh that's not true, Carol. YOu sneaky devil!' so I was engaged. Carol and Daryl are my favorite characters and I'm happy to have a weekly series to look forward to. It brought me back, let's see if it makes me stay
I love the show, but tbh the writing in this episode is terrible. Genet has the perfect opportunity to run away, but instead steps out laughing, waiting while Daryl reloads his weapon - and just before he is about to shoot, of course an explosion goes off, and then she escapes. A huge disappointment compared to the first seasons of TWD. People are so hyped about Carol returning, they forget about the realism and the quality of the writing/storytelling.
The spin offs make it clear that TWD is going more the direction of Fear unfortunately. At the start TWD was realistic and that’s what made it great. Now it’s just unbelievable storylines and frankly awfully forced writing
I didn't find this premiere nearly as strong as anything from the first season. To be fair, I actually enjoyed seeing just Daryl interacting with new people. It's probably the second biggest draw for the show, only superseded by the setting. Even with Carol crossing the Atlantic, it feels like a lot of the scope has diminished. I hope they haven't lowered the budget like they've done with every series before it. I've never been the biggest fan of Carol, but it's nice to see her again. I just hope she doesn't take over all of Isabelle's screen time. She's a fantastic addition to the roster. Hopefully it'll pick up sooner rather than later. Doesn't quite feel like TWD is back like all the years past either. I feel like the lack of the Rick & Michonne finish line has taken a lot of the winds out of the sails of the franchise. AMC is going to have to get them back for another series if they want to generate that kind of buzz again. There's nothing BIG to look forward to, you know?
Hey Nick! Hope all is well!!!! I can agree overall the wind has left the ocean entirely almost and the ship has kinda stalled - maybe at NYCC Gimple will announce something amazing? On TOWL I was upset M didn’t tell R that he had a son. But she was waiting for a time to tell him. Maybe in some twisted way this will have the same effect. Next week episode I’m soooo ready for. Also,‘I agree something is OFF with that women. She is villain or they are trying to take our minds off the true villain in the nest and is making me believe it’s her when it’s not. Idk we Shall see.
Twd just doesn’t have that feel anymore. I’m only watching becuase this spinoff has my two favorite characters. I am glad Melissa is back. Tbh spin off now moving forward is just a show to watch. If you are trying to chase for that original TWD vibes, you won’t find it ever again.
I'm back! ;-) I thought this is a good, solid first episode. Maybe it's a little over the top in places but it's a series about Zombies so I just role with it. It's still my favourite spinoff and the reason I got so hyped about season one is cuz I just wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. @@TWDExplained Just to add, if anyone is thinking of watching that leaked entire series, seriously don't. Unless you speak French well, you're gonna miss a lot of what is actually going on and there is a lot of important information that is entirely in French. Did I enjoy binge watching it? Sort of, but now I don't have this to look forward to each weekend.
I thought I head the men saying they had to hurry get their people and leave because another group of her soldiers was coming. So maybe that’s why Daryl didn’t track her.
Decent first episode. Kinda wish Carol didn't f over that dudes home. Plus, why didn't he have padlock and chains to back up electric locks? As a pilot I would think he would be double redundant on everything
yeah if he knows the gen is having trouble - and he knows the gates simply unlock when no power???? surely he knew all of that - writers for TV seem to have no logic about them
I'm a little late to the party, I just finished this episode. Overall I'd say good but not great. The believability of the plain situation in a transatlantic flight was not too bad compared to what I anticipated. I mean you got a kind of suspend a little bit of disbelief, but this could have been way worse I think, so good for them. Lying about Sophia seemed a little unnecessary and largely just there to come back and bite her in the ass later in the story I'm sure, which just feels a little bit too predictable I think. But I am curious what Losang is up to.
I thought the episode was just ok. There was alot of convience & things happening way to easy. I am still not down with the nest. It sounds like some type cult now. I hope both Isabelle & Laurant get away from that place. I don't think its the home they think it is. I really like Ashes' character put I don't know if I would take a stranger in that easly. In original series they always put them through motions before granting all access & leaving them alone. I agree that Carol lying through it isn't anything new for her but I am not sure if its warrent in this circumstance but I guess she wanted to make sure that he took her. He is not going to be to happy when she come clean. I thought the cherokee rose was a nice touch. The scene when Carol leaves Ash & he comes after her in truck. What Carol says really rang home again about your theory about "ick" call being Ezekiel is dead. I really think you are going to be right about that. It was all way to easy to get Fallou & Emile back and Daryl did what he needed to do to make it work and he is probably going to catch hell from Losang for it. Losang's little talk about fighting with a stick & being non violent. Here we go again with Morgan Theory. He is going to have to learn the hard way I guess just like Morgan did that its not that easy. Yes, I had the same thought you did about Genet. If they didn't want to kill her then they should of done better on getaway. Daryl would of diffently went after her but instead was like Oh, well she's gone. Its like the roof caving in on 1st season. They needed the roof the calaspe faster. Its not like Daryl to just stand there & wait for it to cave in. He would of run. Along with Isabelle needing to get to Daryl sooner in 1st Season because that substance that was burned into his skin would probably have gotten to his bloodstream before they got to abby & how did she get him there. It really is not that big of a deal because I really enjoyed rest but I always think about it everytime I watch it. I wondered about the gasline in this episode too but I know nothing about planes. I somewhat try to give them a pass on some things because I know they only have 6 episodes. It looks like they are trying to cram alot in to these episodes at least by preview that was shown for the rest of season. I am sure it will get better and I am excited to see the next episode!!
This was such a boring and weak start to the season, HOPEFULLY the season picks up but after watching this first episode I can see how they finished it so quickly
Man this is dying I am sorry. Wouldn’t this have made more sense if Carol got help with the CRM since the “evil part” was destroyed? Rick could have got here hooked up with one their planes. Instead of this unbelievable story of a plane just being there? And yes James the big bad’s can now teleport! Maybe it’s like Buffy the vampire slayer demons were they are just gone a second later. 🙄( seems like the writers from fear the walking dead wrote that scene)
@@TWDExplained I know James. Like I said before they owe you royalties. Your speculation videos alone are better then the damn story. They do cringe fan service mixed with convenient plot points. If they wanted to do that. All they could have done, was have Carol find out about Darryl. She goes home tells whoever and then Rick (even if he's off camera) sends a member of the only known civilization with flying capabilities a member of the CRM to meet Carol with a plane to fly to France to save Darryl. That connects the universe and it's fans service. They could even have made the Ash character have the son back story with the damn rose still. They even could have had a member of the rescue team be a damn spy from the old regime who contacts Jeant or whatever her name is.
Daryl showed these Frenchies some good ol fashioned Merican violence (Merica).
Good video... excited for the future
I hate her using Sophia! I wish she would have just called Daryl her brother. Why drag Sophia back up? I don’t get it.
The man had lost his son. A brother wouldn't have been half as effective.
I grade it a C+ Great review, thank you! I think it will pick up after a few disappointing plot holes. I'm in it for the long haul!
Twd just doesn’t have that feel anymore. I’m only watching becuase this spinoff has my two favorite characters. I am glad Melissa is back. Tbh spin off now moving forward is just a show to watch. If you are trying to chase for that original TWD vibes, you won’t find it ever again.
You're right James lol
I'm back! ;-) I thought this is a good, solid first episode. Maybe it's a little over the top in places but it's a series about Zombies so I just role with it. It's still my favourite spinoff and the reason I got so hyped about season one is cuz I just wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was.
We're in for some twists and turns but that's all I'm going to say about that. As always, excellent review James!
Thanks!
@@xyg6543 You still have my reviews each week! haha
Of course I will be back each week and now that you're reviewing FROM it's guarenteed! ;-)
It was definitely mediocre!! I’m not sure if I even liked it!
I thought I head the men saying they had to hurry get their people and leave because another group of her soldiers was coming. So maybe that’s why Daryl didn’t track her.
ahh I'll have to rewatch - thanks!!
@@TWDExplained I may be wrong but I thought I heard that. 🩵💜🩵
@@TWDExplained I was wrong they just said, “Dixon come on.”
Well he will get her next time I hope. 🤞
Like my old Ford it has 2 fuel tanks. LOL!!!
Decent first episode. Kinda wish Carol didn't f over that dudes home. Plus, why didn't he have padlock and chains to back up electric locks? As a pilot I would think he would be double redundant on everything
yeah if he knows the gen is having trouble - and he knows the gates simply unlock when no power???? surely he knew all of that - writers for TV seem to have no logic about them
That scene pissed me off lol you had her lined up could've ended the whole season lol
How did the whole second season get leaked?
From what I hear it was leaked out on Paramont+
I am sure it will get better and I am excited to see the next episode!!
all good points - lots we have to 'overlook' in this TWD Universe
@@TWDExplained Your're right! There is usually more Good then Bad and that is why I stay!
@@WarGrowlmon18 Yes, Losang is showing his true colors and they are not good. Agreed!
I missed the Virgin Mary stuff so when u do the video plz tag me. ❤
I will try to do so! Looking to get that video done this week.
🙄( seems like the writers from fear the walking dead wrote that scene)
ha yep - I do tend to "just go with it" on many things these days haha
Then they know who's coming and find out more about Darryl were he comes from and boom she goes crazy with making super walkers since the CRM portion has been defeated in 24 hrs after a decade of building their army. This her way of evening Beale🙄
@@johncap6495 maybe we will see a CRM spy somewhere
@@TWDExplained there’s new rumors now since there was a helicopter crashed in the opening credits. 🙄(just like when we saw helicopters in season 11 credits)
All the gas would have gone bad by now but if you really want to talk about unrealistic: why do all the french people speak english? lol
This could be the worst writing for any show ever. If you’re watching this I feel sorry for you.
It was.... meh for me
Eh. It was mediocre
I see the all season 2 in french Carol kill genêt Isabelle kill Émile losang kill Isabelle daryl kill losang codron dont die and go alone fallou stay in France and daryl and Carol go to england
Horrible commentary/narration
Stop talking so much u ruin the whole video
It's an episode review/discussion. Him talking about it is the whole point of the video. What were you expecting?
