I was most surprised by the different prayer books for the different communities. I loved seeing the children’s offerings. Thanks for this tour and for your loving words. You are a great blessing.❤
I always learn so much from you!!! I truely believe that if people of all faiths took the time to learn about the traditions of other faiths, the world would be a better place.
I love bookstores! I had a friend , who was reformed, who would also go to the local kosher bookstore. I never went with her. She usually followed a more orthodox form of dress and head covering when she went there so as not to offend the owner.
As a Christian, I didn't know all the differences between the Siddurium, Tehilim, and Tenakh. This was such a helpful video! I've always admired the many books I've seen in Jewish homes, but didn't know what they were all about. I also love seeing the Kosher toys for children! Thank you for sharing this video!
It wasn't a surprise so much as a delight to see all the things they had for children. The figure playsets were so cute! I love bookstores! Actually, I really do. I'm an avid reader from way back, haha. Thank you for sharing this tour. So glad that you're back on UA-cam!❤
I love bookstores!! As a librarian, I was especially interested in all of the different kinds of books that are available. I was also delighted with all of the other Jewish items that help you practice your faith. As more Jewish families are using our library, thank you for giving us some suggestions for Jewish books to add to our collection. Thank you, Sara!!❤
I love bookstores! Both specialty and regular ones. Bookstores are a world unto themselves and you can find all kinds of treasures in them One of the things I found most interesting in your video were the different styles of prayer books, depending on which sect of Orthodox Judaism you belong to. I figured there would be some variety, but I didn't think they'd be so different as to require four different sets of prayer books. The other thing I found most interesting were the toys, especially the specialty Lego/Playskool figures. That was cool.
The things that surprised me were the amount of multimedia (it shouldn't have, really, it's not the 1800's), and the tallit decoration - that's something I really didn't expect (it was so sparkly). I love bookstores! Thank you.
Hello, Sara. I am a Christian, but I truly love learning about your customs . It’s so beautiful. Many, many blessings. I love bookstores. I’m an avid reader.
Non-Jewish, non-religious person here - I love learning about your life. Thanks for sharing it. It is great to be part of one big, diverse, beautiful human family and super interesting to learn about each other.
Dear lady, love listening to your voice! You sound so happy and content. Not only are your uploads fascinating, they are also so calming. Bless you and your family.
I was most surprised by the special toys for children, but it also makes sense. Why wouldn't you want your children to see and hear and play with the things and people they encounter all the time? But I also like that of course they can also play with other toys and games. That way they are firmly rooted in their own culture but don't feel too separate from the wider world. Both are so good for their health. As a Christian, I love the Psalms too! They're my favorite. Pure poetry and so comforting, educational, and fulfilling.
I rarely comment on UA-cam videos but have watched (and adored) all of your videos and vlogs. I love how you describe your precious beliefs and how you always remind us at the end of the videos that we are all so very loved and blessed. Thank you!
I love bookstores. In particular, we love Barnes & Noble, but basically, we are a book loving family. I'm Catholic and my husband is Serbian Orthodox. I'm so loving your content. You've got so much to teach me. Thank you!
I'm a Christian also, and I too love exploring Judaism. Thank you so much for taking us on a tour of the Jewish bookstore! I love bookstores of all kinds, so this was wonderful. Incidentally, the Tehillim that brings me the greatest comfort is Tehillim - Chapter 121. My Mother also loved that chapter of the Tehillim. It is a beautiful prayer and expression of trust in G-d. I need to get a kosher cookbook or two. The Sephardic recipes always look delicious! I subscribe to the Jewish Food Society and they always have wonderful recipes and stories of the families who brought them to North America. Worth a look, if you haven't seen it. I LOVE bookstores! I love bookstores - and libraries - and so was happy to see everything you shared in your wonderful Jewish bookstore! I’m tremendously impressed at the great care taken by the Jewish book binders who craft an impressive array of rich, jewel-toned and beautiful covers protecting the pages of your readings. I was especially enamored with the pretty pink prayer book you held ...its raised spine, embossed front, metallic lettering, swirl end papers and chapter tabs. I can easily envision the happiness it will bring each day to its lucky owner as it is held. I also find it exciting learning new aspects of Jewish traditions - and so my favorite part of this video was about the Torah Yad - which I hadn’t known of before! I’ve never viewed one up close to see the fascinating embellishments and tiny hand sculpted on the end. Thank you as always, Sarah, for creating a safe, peaceful haven where those of us stressed by life’s difficulties can come and find respite in your joyful and rewarding world. 💙
I love bookstores! It was interesting to see movies sold on USBs! I have never seen that before, anywhere, but as you point out many Jewish families do not use open access to the internet, it makes perfect sense--and takes up much less space than other media. Of course, I'd hate to imagine how easy they are to get lost in the house! 😄 Thank you for once again joyfully sharing your life with us!
Ashkenazi girl here! Here in Israel, the most commonly found nusach of siddurim that you will find- there are at least a few no matter which shul you go to- is Nusach Sefarad, the Hasidic nusach. It's sometimes referred to also as Nusach Eretz Yisrael, as it combines elements of the Ashkenaz and Edot HaMizrach nusachim. It's the nusach that most people here begin with, and despite my Ashkenazi heritage, I still prefer it. It just connects with me more, I guess. And here I go on a tangent about kippot! Most Ashkenazi men in my vicinity wear colorful crocheted kippot, which can vary in size from just barely over 5 cm in diameter to full blown beanie styles, often worn by younger children or Hasidic men. Well, most, except for my dad for some reason. He prefers black suede kippot. He does swap out the black for white during the Yamim Noraim though. We're all going against the stream in different ways lol (we're specifically Yekke, German Jewish, so we do have some differences in tradition to other Ashkenazi Jews. It's interesting.)
I did not know that there was a special item for "following along" the Torah scroll. That was probably my big surprise. I was amused by the ways to repair and enhance tallits.
Good morning! I love bookstores! I have been known to sit in a Barnes and Noble for hours. 😊 Your video of this bookstore is beautiful. Since I have been studying the Sabbath (thank you for your video on your preparations before Sabbath) I attended a Messianic Synagogue yesterday. How beautiful! I love bookstores - I even work in one! A wonderfully informative video, and as soothing as always 🩵 Do you still happen to take video/topic requests? I just got the idea for a video about Jewish or Kosher cosmetics, skincare, nail polish and the like … I’m sure these products and certain values attached to them exist, and I would absolutely love to learn more about it!
I did not know about the finger touching the torah. I always learn so much from you. I love bookstores also! Jewish people have holidays that mean so much! Thank you!
The Yad ("hand") is the pointer that the reader of the Torah uses to help others follow the written words as he reads. Usually made of silver, the end of this rod is commonly shaped like a hand with its index finger extended. A chain attached to its other end can be used to drape it over the Torah scroll when put away. www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/339596/jewish/The-Accessories-for-the-Torah.htm
Me too! I love the little hand! I was thinking it probably also helps preserve the Torah pages by keeping hands and fingers off because of the oils and sweat on our hands.
@@karenjohnson5634 Hi Karen, yes that is correct. It's called a Yad. Also, we do not touch the Torah because it is considered a holy text. The Torah is the central text of Judaism and contains the laws that govern the Jewish people. We believe that the Torah is a gift from G--d and is to be respected and revered. Touching the Torah is considered a sign of disrespect and is prohibited. 💖
@@Shoshi2048 thank you for taking the time to write back and for the link! I will check it out as soon as I can! I had written you back the other day but it didn’t go through. Thinking of you and your family in this marathon of Holy day observances. Shavuot and then weekly Shabbat. Knowing the amount of prep it takes for a weekly Shabbat, it must take special planning and tactical maneuvering on your part! LOL. Wishing and wanting all the best for you!
I love bookstores and Dr Sara's bookstore tours. I thought the children's play toys and plush challah was cute. And the pocket book of Psalms. Thank you
Sarah, thank you so much for your sharing your Faith and life! I’m Roman Catholic by conversion and found my heart jumping for joy when you mentioned Psalms. I am interested in following the example of reading Psalms throughout the day. The original beads or knotted loops that monks used had 150 beads in decade portions to count the Psalms off throughout their day. Mary’s Psalter can be used the same way as the Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries when said equal One-hundred and fifty prayers. I am fascinated by the way our Sunday Mass is divided into Liturgy of the Word (of God) and Liturgy of the Eucharist. There are so many roots that come from Jewish traditions. A good resource for the Catholic Tradition is Scott Hahn’s “The Fourth Cup”. I love how Tradition and Culture allows for functioning in the world but setting aside the world and putting God first! Learning from you is a precious gift.
You would love a second hand bookstore in my area! It is a warehouse FULL of old/used books!! And I mean full! Books of all genres! And they are all under $1 (USD)

@@Shoshi2048 I know these communities. I live in a city of 800,000 inhabitants and 1,000 Jews, but unfortunately we have big difficulties in having kosher meat (prices are crazy, 18 euro per kg!) and other basic services
I love bookstores! As we shop online more and more we forget how special it is to see, touch, and smell the books, hold them in our hands, and appreciate the writing.
She usually followed a more orthodox form of dress and head covering when she went there so as not to offend the owner.
hi anne!
it is very considerate of your friend to do so but not obligatory :)
have a blessed week!
Thank YOU Mikhala to be here with an open heart ❤️
@@frumitup of course! I have deep respect and admiration for Jewish traditions, values, and delicious foods!! Happy to be here.
The little plush Challah was too much! It even came with the bag😂
It wasn't a surprise so much as a delight to see all the things they had for children. The figure playsets were so cute! I love bookstores! Actually, I really do. I'm an avid reader from way back, haha. Thank you for sharing this tour. So glad that you're back on UA-cam!❤
I love the children toys and agree that having familiar faces or characters on toys is welcoming.
I was surprised by the Torah finger! And the silver trimming for a prayer shawl! I LOVE BOOKSTORES!
I love bookstores! Both specialty and regular ones. Bookstores are a world unto themselves and you can find all kinds of treasures in them
One of the things I found most interesting in your video were the different styles of prayer books, depending on which sect of Orthodox Judaism you belong to. I figured there would be some variety, but I didn't think they'd be so different as to require four different sets of prayer books. The other thing I found most interesting were the toys, especially the specialty Lego/Playskool figures. That was cool.
i am so so happy you are here and you liked the tour!
I absolutely love the toys too!
stay safe and blessed!
xoxxoox
The things that surprised me were the amount of multimedia (it shouldn't have, really, it's not the 1800's), and the tallit decoration - that's something I really didn't expect (it was so sparkly). I love bookstores! Thank you.
i am so happy you are here Margaret!
thank you for taking the time to connect with me today!

Hello, Sara. I am a Christian, but I truly love learning about your customs . It’s so beautiful. Many, many blessings. I love bookstores. I’m an avid reader.
Toda raba Sarah for this video. I always forget the world when entering in a jewish bookshop.
I love bookstores! I was surprised and pleased to see the variety of children’s play sets! Blessings of joy.
Non-Jewish, non-religious person here - I love learning about your life. Thanks for sharing it. It is great to be part of one big, diverse, beautiful human family and super interesting to learn about each other.
I love book stores👍🤔😱🤔👍
I was surprised to see the little toys that look like orthodox people. So cute.
Dear lady, love listening to your voice! You sound so happy and content. Not only are your uploads fascinating, they are also so calming. Bless you and your family.
thank you so so much for being here! and i am so happy you are enjoying the videos and it can bring some sense of peace in your day!

Thank you!
i am so happy you are here my quiet friend and i feel specially grateful you connected with me today:)
Satay safe and blessed Amy :) xoxoxo
Shalom!

I LOVE BOOK STORES❤😊BLESSINGS TO YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES, SARAH……THANKS FOR ANOTHER INTERESTING VIDEO!🎉
I am also a Christian, a former teacher, and I LOVE bookstores, still do at age 82. A great video. Thanks so much!❤️🤟👍
I will be missing the Premiere today, but I can't wait to watch it later! 🥰💖
I love Bookstores ❤ I am also a book lover, and the smell of books as you walk into the bookstore… heaven.
i hear you! the smell is so amazing!
I did not know that there was a special item for "following along" the Torah scroll. That was probably my big surprise. I was amused by the ways to repair and enhance tallits.
Love all the special kids items!! So fun and affirming for little ones.
i agree with you too Brandi, the kid section is AMAZING!
Have a blessed week my sweet friend!
xoxoxo
Not surprised but amazed at the Legos and figurines in the toy section. I just love each one. That's an amazing representation to have.
Readings from The Torah in Hebrew and English were such a blessing to me. And the service was explaining The Sabbath!! I think my prayers and studies were set. I’m going to have a whole new life. Thank you Dr. Sara for sharing your life with us. Peace and happiness to you and your family. Much love ❤T.
thank you for your kind words and have a blessed week :)
I LOVE BOOKSTORES and I was deeply impressed by all the items that are available in a jewish bookstore. Some of them I've never seen before.
I was most surprised to see the special repair kit and “markers” to carry I order to keep the prayer shawl in good order. That had never occurred to me.
I also liked learning about the orthodox entertainment options available.
Thank you so much for your channel. ❤
thank you Heidi to be here:)
Im so glad you got your channel back. You have the most soothing voice on youtube!
I love bookstores! Hi Sara Malka! I’ve always enjoyed bookstores. I can totally get lost in them! I loved the children’s section. The toys were adorable. I purchase from stores online now. Enjoy your week!
thank you sweet Carol, maybe we can start a bookclub then?
what do you think!

@@frumitup I love that idea!
I love bookstores! I am Christian, but my “sister” is Jewish. I am learning all I am able about Judaism so as not to be ignorant when in her home. I love your videos! Be well. Be blessed.
I thank you so very much for these delightful, informative videos. I am an orthadox latin mass catholic. I am so amazed how much we all have in common . May G-d bless you and your family always and through many generations.
The psalm books remind me of Liturgy of the Hours...very cool.
I agree, as an orthodox latin mass Catholic i can see where so many traditions have a common meaning
I love the fact that you can find Mezuzah covers individually. Lets say you move to a house with more rooms than your last one, you don't HAVE to buy a pack if you only need one or two
Your videos are so good to watch, i found out i am from my mothers (and partly from my fathers) jewish last year, and growing up, everyone was forcing other religions on me, which didnt help, and im still exploring my own culture. Your videos help alot! Thank you, and keep doing these videos!! Theyre very informative.♡
I love bookstores! I received a gift of a mezuzah from a dear woman who was a Holocaust survivor. I loved her like a family member. She was so proud when we purchased our first home. I cherish her gift. Has-hem is in my home always because of her. ❤
I love bookstores.
I love bookstores. I converted 50 years ago and there is still so much to learn.
Awww so nice of you to share such lovely comment❤️❤️
I love Bookstores! My husband wears Kippa Sruga(knitted Kippa) alot of orthodox men wear either the knitted Kippa or the velvet one,Shavua Tov have a wonderful week ahead and wishing you and your family a Chag Shavout Sameach! With love from Israel! 13:18

I love bookstores!
And always will, because books are like old friends and always take you on travels with them. 😊 ❤ 📚
I love bookstores - I even work in one!
A wonderfully informative video, and as soothing as always 🩵
Do you still happen to take video/topic requests? I just got the idea for a video about Jewish or Kosher cosmetics, skincare, nail polish and the like … I’m sure these products and certain values attached to them exist, and I would absolutely love to learn more about it!
Hi Leonie
You work in a bookstore!! WOW!!!
As per topic: great idea 💡
I did not know about the finger touching the torah. I always learn so much from you. I love bookstores also! Jewish people have holidays that mean so much! Thank you!
I love bookstores. My favorite item was the reading pointer. I love the reason it is used for. Thank you.
i love the YAD too! it is so unique!
Thank you for being kind in teaching me about the Yad and how it was used in the name for the Holocaust museum. I have watched many videos from them and never knew what the meaning of their name was. ❤❤❤
Thank you
Thank you Susan 🥰🥰🥰

I am Googling Jewish bookstores near Seattle and pleasantly surprised there are several.
@@susann.1618 yipppeeee! Happy shopping!
I love bookstores! Yes, I really do, especially second-hand ones. xx
You would love a second hand bookstore in my area! It is a warehouse FULL of old/used books!! And I mean full! Books of all genres! And they are all under $1 (USD)

I love bookstores! The cute little playset that looked like bubbe making challah in the oven was my favorite!
It is so awesome that there are toys that appear Jewish. I really want to find some kosher cookbooks that work well for me. Oddly, eating kosher has been the closest fit for my health issues and it opened up so many things by learning about the Jewish culture. Your Sukah was beautiful!

I love the ambulance playset. My son just returned from spending a college year on a program in Israel. For several months of it, he worked on the other ambulance service, Magen David Adom. I wish the playset were MDA and I would buy it for him to display on his bookshelf at college.
Hi! I am sure you can find MDA on Israeli websites
