Beaucoup de mots ressemblent au français. Phonétiquement, un francophone peut comprendre quelques mots mais l'orthographe est différente. Vidéo très intéressante!

C'est par ce que nous les Haitiens etions des esclaves des colons Français. The French got slaves from different part of Africa that spoke different dialects; therefore the African slaves had to create a language for themselves to understand each other by mixing French and African languages together to be able to communicate. So the words are spelled differently then French words because they wrote them as they heard them, but we Haitians know our creole language is different from French
Pas Toussaint correction, French didn’t get slaves from Africa, they took people from Africa and made them slaves

This is a great selection of words! I am living in a part of the Dominican Republic where Creole is spoken. I will repeat this video several times, however, it is a shame that the recording is such poor quality. If there is a chance of te-recording it, please do so. Also, a change in the female voice is advised, as it is not professional. Thanks for your videos!!
(Kanpe) means stand up not stop
(Rete) means stop and it can also be used to say where you live

What I’ve noticed since I’ve been studying Haitian Creole is that it seems to a gender neutral language. Like the word for he and she are the same.

when do you use Souple over Sivouple??
They basically come from the different words we use in French for "please":
Tanpri ---> Je t'en prie
Souple (no equivalent)
Sivouplè ----> s'il-vous-plaît
As a French speaker, I can say that really there isn't much difference between the three words although "Tanpri" is a much nicer, warmer way of saying please. The closest equivalent I can find to Tanpri is "please go ahead".
I think Souple and Sivouplè have the same connotation, although Souple is maybe a faster, more informal way of saying Sivouplè.
Armor Cake are you haitian or just a french speaker? in old french the letter v was often absent and sometimes pronounced like a w. "ou" (some times wou) is old french for "vous". this happens with other words too "wè" = "voir" (the oi sound in old french was ouè). haitian creole words like ma (I will) la (he/she will) are contractions of pronouns and va. mwen va = ma... li va = la.
