It's cheap for you to live there because you make Western wages. The locals have to struggle and grind to make the average monthly salary of about $304 USD. Factor in expenses and a spouse and children, that $1.50 cup of coconut coffee is a rare luxury.

I lived i Korea and loved it. But that was back in the 70's and Korea was very different, still a little undeveloped and very traditional. Your Vietnam videos make me think maybe it's so.

I love Asian food (especially Thai) but when i've been there a while i reallly miss dairy products like milk, cheese and butter and also bread ....and the only way you can buy is them is to pay through the nose ....Eg a 250g wheel of Président Camembert cheese imported from from Europe which costs £2.60 ($3.25) here in England , costs £10 or $12.50 in Thailand and locally-produced cheese is quite frankly inedible and the milk tastes funny like it has been reconstituted from powdered milk
Disappointingly short list of nations right now that don’t feel like they aren’t on the brink of tearing themselves , or a neighbor apart at any moment. Stay safe, Niki
While I agree to a certain extent that some Asian countries, not all though, are easer to get a visa and have lower costs, I feel you still need to show / educate some of your western viewers in terms of other draws in Asia. Let them understand how safe / secure / advanced Asian countries are in comparison to the western world (eg. USA). Furthermore, many people have not even travel out of their own town / country to see and experience for themselves. Most are easily influenced by biased western media and continue to believe that USA is the best (safest and most advanced) and China is very backward and poor. Thus, if one has the financial means, do travel and see for yourself and not be too myopic / ignorant to believe everything from the media.
‘Home is the place where, when you have to go there, They have to take you in. ”From Robert Frost's 1915 poem, "The Death of the Hired Man," the moral and practical dilemma facing a farm couple, themselves just getting by, is what to do about old Silas - we would now call him a homeless person. Silas, who has worked as a hired hand on their farm unreliably and one too many times, has returned to them worn out, addled of mind and exhausted of heart.

What you say is accurate. I live in the Philippines. But before that, I spent 20 years in the USA. Only visit the USA if you want to see the sights and be a tourist. But to live there is expensive. The entire place is designed to drain money from you in a thousand ways big and small. Having a child there will cost you a fortune. Getting a house there will open you up to a thousand little cuts. Even apartments now cost a lot of money and they charge you for every little thing. God forbid you keep a pet. They will want to make it as costly as possible to care for an animal. I am an American, but I prefer to live/tour around in Asia. As you said, wherever we are, we are HOME.
Exactly. And Vietnam is just another communist project with standards of living so low that it makes it very affordable when you have plenty of western money from UA-cam...
He probably would as they do give out visas to young Russian youtubers... (NFKRZ, Dari.... to name a few.) He just hve to pick the right EU country🤔. But for "instant" last minute ways ... Asia is the easiest.
Not everybody likes Europe. For one, safety and security in most big Asian cities is far better than in Europe. The petty crimes in Europe eg. pickpockets and having to look over your shoulder can be a dampener.
Thank you for another entertaining video and for sharing your life with all of us. I wish I were younger and I'd join you! I would love to receive a postcard. Have a nice weekend!
Dear Niki, You share exactly what I experienced in Asia. I think the people are much nicer and work harder than in Europe. Asia is much safer in many areas than here or the U.S. and it's getting worse and worse here in Europe. I had the same impression in the south of Mexico, but once you go further north it is less safe. Does this have to do with the influence of the US? to make. Well, I think so.

As always it was nice to see you! Welcome Back and take care.❤❤❤😊
It would be idiotic to live in the US ! -- Cost of living is about 1/3 minimum - maybe 70 - 75% less than the US average where you are. ---- I'm an old retired American looking for a cheap comfortable destination to retire in S E Asia - somewhere. English and visa ease are big considerations as well. So I see Cambodia - Siem Reap especially as a really good option. Several areas in the Philippines offer very good retirement destinations and many US expats are there already - some for decades ! - - - A wise retirement destination is different from working and seeking a place to live.
Have you given any though on loving in Nha Trang? Since there is a massive Russian population and Vietnamese themselves speak Russian..that was a shocking discovery 😂

Niki, I think you would love LATIN. AMERICA too. It has a lot of similarities to East / SE Asia. It’s inexpensive, it’s very different than Europe, it has a lot of historical charm that US/Canada doesn’t have, the people are extremely friendly, many countries have great food, etc! For urban living, several cities in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and others are great. For less urban living (beaches or nature), Costa Rica, México, Colombia, Caribbean, etc
@@justducky196 they are in certain areas of certain countries, but where most tourist or big cities it’s not a problem. They are usually found in mountainous village areas or in the Amazon jungle. What I am getting at is that there is very little chance you would be interested in spending time in the areas that the cartels are located in. It’s really no different than the US. Pick a major city, and even the popular cities people love to go as tourist have neighborhoods that have extremely high homicide rates, but you won’t be going to neighborhoods

Actually it's a common myth in the Russian speaking community that you can't get a citizenship in those countries. I've met and heard people getting Thai and Indonesian citizenship. They may not be as easy and straightforward as with the EU, but it's still doable and the laws are in the open. Cambodia's is fast with an investment. Plenty of caucasians with a Japanese citizenship as well. China might be impossible though
Yes it's not impossible but it's tough & will need a lot of years of residency. For some, they require language tests as well (TH 🇹🇭 and JP 🇯🇵 do). JP doesn't allow dual citizenship for adults. For TH, if you take up Thai citizenship you'll have to renounce your original citizenship. Some people would rather retain their original citizenships (for personal or patriotic reasons) and would rather be dual citizens. (That's their choice.) I think Takeshi (Japanese UA-camr) interviewed a Russian woman who now has Japanese citizenship (married to a JP guy & they have kids). Nowadays, whenever she wants to visit her family in Russia, she has to apply for a visa since she's now a Japanese citizen. She lives in Japan, so it was more convenient for her to be a JP citizen (also JP has higher passport standing).
@@kitty_s23456 Yes in Thailand you have to have worked in Thailand for so many years. So in reality it becomes almost impossible unless you are young and have plenty of money because the cost of buying Citizenship is absurd and may also include a bribe.

I watched you when you were living in Chiang Mai, and you really did live on almost nothing! But one of the things I like about Thailand over Vietnam is that I am one of those people who doesn't enjoy the chaos. Not even being able to cross a street stresses me out too much! Maybe living in the country would be okay, but I prefer Thailand if I live in Asia. I prefer Europe, even if it's more expensive (it's less expensive if you don't stay in the big cities).
there are a lot of safe places in the united states where you can go out, get tipsy and walk around with no problems. as well as coffee places where everyone's friendly, and you can leave your belongings unattended without worry. i guess it depends on the location.
Can you name any?

Yes, I'm American. Studied briefly in Saint Petersburg Russia in 2018. Traveled to Europe as tourist.
Yesterday I got back from a 2 week trip in Bangkok meeting my girlfriends family for the first time.
My first thought on return to America is everyone seems much more rude, hostile, and angry than I remember
I feel somewhat similar every time when I visit Russia after Asia
Russia belongs to Europe
Nice phone.. Hope you're doing well..
@8:22 the "grass" is actually Thai Basil... I think your supposed to put the basil in the soup as it has a licorice flavor!
As always, the video is fascinating. You are opening up the world for so many of us. The scenery is always gorgeous. What I like most about your videos is seeing the people and the culture. Thanks so much.
show more scenery plz!
Thank you!
Hi Niki - So happy to see your videos again. I’m really warming up to Vietnam from your perspective. I’ve learned a bit about it on TV H&G House Hunters International but your videos are more personalized. Thank you so much. Cheers! 🍁🍁
I like Lin's answer to why she lives in Vietnam.
I completely appreciate your logic. Seems perfect experience for someone your age. When you are older like me and have resources, then nice areas in Canada has more appeal. So get these experiences while you are young and able to appreciate shared living and more basic lifestyle. Looks great to me. I wish I had done the same.
When I think of Vietnam it is a bit of a trigger even after so many years after that war. I am of that generation. Looks so different than my awful memories. Great video Niki. I feel very safe where I live in the USA. Fun to watch you.
Wow, no comments ? Will help you with the algorithm; 8:22 ".... and some kind of grass... " 🤣 looks like Thai basil or Asian basil often served with Pho. Good sound track selection! 👍
Hi. It's not Pho, it's Bo Kho, a type of beef stew - diff ingredients than pho & the soup is thicker. Re: the leaves, yes that's Thai or Vietnamese basil.
@@kitty_s23456 yes, we get that Thai basil with the pho we get is what I wrote. Looking forward to trying Bo Kho.

Just missed the premier. Count me as another one who was worried about your safety in Russia. Your whole demeanor is so much more relaxed in the VN videos. Can hardly wait to see what you post from where you're visiting and maybe win a postcard.
It feels so much more relaxing in Vietnam as well as in other countries I've been to recently (except Georgia maybe)
Always nice to hear from you !
I appreciate that!
I live in Kentucky, USA and I don't even feel safe in a church, its a sad feeling to worry about someone coming into a church and hurting you, but it happens here
My goodness. I live in Ky and have for almost 40 years, I hardly lock my doors. I've traveled all around the world and the US and been to some sketchy places. Ky has those areas....Louisville mostly, but most of the state, is very calm. Of course crazy people can pop up anywhere, but I hope you eventually feel safe where you are.
@@wasdq9748 I live in a small rural town in Southern Kentucky, we're overran by meth and other terrible drugs, people who feel they have no other recourse in life but to steal, to usually feed their addiction, an addiction that I want to assume they got because life is just rough anymore, we have inflation unlike anything we've seen in my life, thankfully I own my home no mortgage or I'd be in the streets too, because even in a town of 2,500 people you can't afford rent now on 1 job. most jobs pay $7.25 to a max of $12 if you go to the factories, life has changed in rural Kentucky, unless you're lucky to live in a gated community, our local Kroger and McDonald's has homeless every morning begging for money, and I won't make judgements on why they're having such a terrible time in life, because life is hard and judgement of the poor doesn't help me, we need to focus more on judging the mega-rich who never even pay taxes anymore, while our cities and even small towns are now crumbling
Stop watching TV and I guarantee you won't even have a thought. And don't imagine that danger is inclusive or excluded by Geography. Thing about US is something happens they talk about it as if 10,000 times, elsewhere, they hide it.
I feel the same. It is sad. Churches, malls , movie houses, just too dangerous now in the US.
It is not dangerous in the way you fear. Yes, rare strange things happen. There is no utopia. Asia is fine…unless you deviate from certain social norms.
Hi Niki, Glad to see your video. With your bright yellow rain gear you should be safe crossing the road. Very interesting video. Thank you.
Thank you, Niki for addressing mental health as you have! It is sooooooo important! Part of your overall well-being you must address if you desire happiness and to stay chill! 😊 and um, postcard please!
You did not visit europe, you visited serbia. Get more informed. Visit Romania and feel safe in Europe. Do not sum up Bulgaria and Serbia, as the entire Europe.
It's cheap for you to live there because you make Western wages. The locals have to struggle and grind to make the average monthly salary of about $304 USD. Factor in expenses and a spouse and children, that $1.50 cup of coconut coffee is a rare luxury.
Funny how you touched on your mental discoveries. I have been thinking you seem to be at peace or comfortable in your body now. Or perhaps more mature since your holiday with your mum. Your friends seem to be a healthy variety to live with.
I lived i Korea and loved it. But that was back in the 70's and Korea was very different, still a little undeveloped and very traditional. I think saying Asia is not taking into consideration how different the countries are. Japan and Vietnam are very different for example. My friends tell me now I might like Vietnam better than Korea. Your Vietnam videos make me think maybe it's so.
Hi Niki, I love that you share your travels with us. I used to move around a lot when I was younger but have been pretty housebound since 2020. I would love a postcard from you =)
Your videos about Vietnam convinced me to book a vaction and check it out for myself. Would love to get a postcard.

I was born in Laos and know lives in the US. I visited Vietnam last year and don't care much about the big city like Honi too busy for me. We first stop in Danang which I love it! the people are very kind and tourist friendly. We went up to Sapa and love it too. I am glad you have a great experience in Vietnam. I prefer Vietnam, Thailand verse Laos.
I have only spent 2 weeks in Vietnam, but genuinely the safest country I have been in. Only met friendly people and never worried about wandering around in the middle of the night.
Thanks, love your videos.

You should try Mexico NiKi. You will love it there! 🇲🇽
Another interesting video.
Disappointingly short list of nations right now that don’t feel like they aren’t on the brink of tearing themselves , or a neighbor apart at any moment. Stay safe, Niki
people are animals to each other here in the USA
Happily, we have UA-cam (and other social media) to give us the other side of the story.🤠
I have visited many Asian countries also. I love your videos!
Very safe as long as you don't have to cross the road.
You just follow how the locals do it. Easy.
and as long as you don't ride a scooter

‘Home is the place where, when you have to go there, They have to take you in. ”From Robert Frost's 1915 poem, "The Death of the Hired Man," the moral and practical dilemma facing a farm couple, themselves just getting by, is what to do about old Silas - we would now call him a homeless person. Silas, who has worked as a hired hand on their farm unreliably and one too many times, has returned to them worn out, addled of mind and exhausted of heart.

Hi, I´m an Wolga-German, but I grew up in Germany. My parents often mention how they would like to move back to russia. I would love a postcard, where you tell them it´s a horrible idea. :D
The places you show are interesting and many beautiful. I am glad after watching you videos for a while,, you are safe and happy. I wish you well! 😏👍
Living in Asia Vietnam, Cambodia or Laos would be far better places to live than Europe or North America nice people and cheap places to live .
Italy & France in Europe my favorites. but have no in Asia. I ve never been there, so it's interesting what you're telling.
The short answer is: because he can't live in Europe. He wouldn't get a visa.
Exactly. And Vietnam is just another communist project with standards of living so low that it makes it very affordable when you have plenty of western money from UA-cam...
Visa is 50 000 euros... 😂
He probably would as they do give out visas to young Russian youtubers... (NFKRZ, Dari.... to name a few.) He just hve to pick the right EU country🤔. But for "instant" last minute ways ... Asia is the easiest.
If he wanted he could, plus he said he could move to Serbia if he wanted, he just prefers asia
Not everybody likes Europe. For one, safety and security in most big Asian cities is far better than in Europe. The petty crimes in Europe eg. pickpockets and having to look over your shoulder can be a dampener.
Niki, Why are you babbling (sorry it sounds like that) without any reasonable pauses again?
I am concerned about health care, it's easier when you're young. You can only feel safe if you are aware of your environment. Be good.
I really enjoy your videos! As a woman, I wonder how safe it is for a woman or if women have the same rights.

US is way too expensive
Cost of living in most parts of Asia is less, food is better, weather is better, also very safe and friendly ppl.
I have lived too many places to count and I have always lived by the lyrics of a great song "Anyplace I Hang My Hat is Home". You seem to think the same way. However, I am definitly a westerner. Asia does not appeal to me at all. I am not into nature, and the humidity, heat, insects and everything else is not for me. However, chacun a son gout. That being said, I am very much enjoying your videos since you moved to Vietnam and am so happy that you are happy!

How did you meet your house mates?
It would be idiotic to live in the US ! -- Cost of living is about 1/3 minimum - maybe 70 - 75% less than the US average where you are. ---- I'm an old retired American looking for a cheap comfortable destination to retire in S E Asia - somewhere. English and visa ease are big considerations as well. So I see Cambodia - Siem Reap especially as a really good option. Several areas in the Philippines offer very good retirement destinations and many US expats are there already - some for decades ! - - - A wise retirement destination is different from working and seeking a place to live.
So, using that mother tongue English speaker proved to move to the Philippines? Will you learn Tagalog?
Happy you found a place for you.
I would love a postcard.

I really want to go to Latin American countries. But I heard there are many drug criminals and mafia criminals there. Is that true?
I guess I'd enjoy slow-traveling there a lot, it's in my list to go
@@justducky196 they are in certain areas of certain countries, but where most tourist or big cities it’s not a problem.
@@NikiProshin you would love it. I would be happy to share more information on specific places that I’ve loved. It really does. Remind me in many ways, Asia, especially south east Asia. One difference I would say is that in Latin America? They like to have a lot more festivals and parties.
@@justducky196hi, I haven't been there but accdg to UA-camrs (and even their locals) - don't go or be very careful in Colombia. There have been many cases of tourists being drugged & robbed. Google scopalamine & being "scoped" in Colombia.

Your right the USA and I am sure Some European countries are more expensive you would have to stay with people !! And I think Asia is safer than the USA right now I think you made a great choice Niki! Enjoy your life❤
Actually it's a common myth in the Russian speaking community that you can't get a citizenship in those countries.
(That's their choice.)
I think Takeshi (Japanese UA-camr) interviewed a Russian woman who now has Japanese citizenship (married to a JP guy & they have kids).
Spasiba Nikki ❤
