Please don’t cut down the tree by the lake-it’s beautiful! Imagine it with white lights in the winter- especially at Christmas😊 You have a beautiful home and garden.
Catching up with your videos after a harrowing season of climate work here in New York. We're suffering a terrible heat wave at the moment making the glacial pace of climate action even more upsetting. It's lovely spending a little virtual time with you both while I'm knitting a colorwork vest out of yarns that I've dyed with botanical dyes. Your garden is so lovely. I'm inspired to try to put more effort into mine. I think I might have to try to go on the next English Garden tour with you!!!
“A UA-cam personality who talked to us” … I know just how you feel! It was the thrill of my life talking with both of you on a knitting cruise, and then again at Jimmy Bean’s.❤
Lovely ideas for your space. Winter here in South Australia. No rain - drought. No gale force coastal wind which is the usually the norm. Sunny. Very abnormal weather world wide. Worrying. I have kept a fern gifted to my son when he was in kindy. He's now 33.
I have a great aunt who travelled to Norway and met some of the people that used to be neighbors or know my ancestors that left Norway in the late 1800s. She had taken some picture by the house/barn they built on the land next to a fjord and I found it on google maps, same everything even a supposed Viking graveyard. Im sure living there was way more difficult back then and they could barely grow food, mainly for the few livestock they had. But it was GORGEOUS, things must’ve been rough to want to have to move from that. They were great fishermen though! It looks so similar to your beautiful home and I wish I could love back there.
What a beautiful place your home is located! You have a lot of gardens & walkways to care for - longer days give you more time to do your chores! Thanks
Dear Arne and Carlos glad of all the excursions and that you are back now and I have rotten weather here very cold and not nice so you have our weather and here it is a a month later
Lovely episode! When suddenly you all started to speak your language, it gave the scene such a cosy, homely vibe. I wish I could speak this hygge/mys language ❤
Such beauty! I would never want to leave home if I lived where you did. The lake, gardens, pathways, and seating areas. And the greenhouse!! thank you for letting us 'visit'.
I love your garden much nicer than the gardens you have just visited over here in the UK . Enjoy the summer in your garden when it arrives. Sian from North Wales 😊
Your home and garden is so magical. And a lake! My mothers family are from Norway. She was 100% Norwegian. She and her family loved their yards and gardens. She shared this love with me although I enjoy a more wild garden than t0she did. Your yard is very much to my taste as well as the lake! My great grandfather was from Norway. My grandmother spoke norwegian. Actually all my family on my mothers side are from Norway.
I live in Iowa, USA. We too have experienced an early blooming season. We had very warm temps with lots of rain showers. Please do not take out that pine, it will provide a place for the birds and provide a beautiful view when the winter snow fall.
So wonderful to see this. Made me pick up my knitting that has sat since May 27th. Here just above the 49th parallel, westcoast Canada, summer is late. Rain and cold weather until 3 days ago finally the sun is warming enough to make the rose buds begin to open. I loved the part about Rob, both of you speaking Norwegian. Such a beautiful sound hearing your native tongue. I wouldn't mind if this happens again, and possibly subtitles available? Happy gardening and renovating. ❤😊🦋🥂
Oh gosh, no apologies necessary - your garden is already loves especially for this early in the year. I love those boulders and an edging for the geraniums and the path you've worked on is going to be amazing. Good luck with Rob.
Thank you for sharing. Your garden is beautiful. I can not imagine weeding all that brick pavement- good luck! We here in Michigan are almost 4 weeks ahead as well. A mild winter and a moderately warm spring has brought everything out early.
Greetings, We are experiencing a week long heatwave 100° days and very warm evenings (not good sleeping weather). Your gardens are lovely. Cheers, Upstate NY
I had a feeling you ran into Fergus Garret at Great Dixter... Perhaps he was "fan girl-ing" over you two, as well! How fun. Thanks for showing some of your book haul from your garden touring, looks like you got to see some great places. Your garden is looking very spring forward... as for your tree dilemma, perhaps you'd consider saving it to cut down at Christmas time for the next round of Christmas balls (and the birds can use until then). All the motifs can be nature-inspired from your garden...? Just be sure to plant another one to accentuate your view of the lake from your new addition or favorite view out from the garden. Enjoy! 💚
Thank you for the tour of the outside of your property! Your garden is amazing right beside your lake and your extension will be so great!! Looking forward to updates on Rob and all the other garden things! Loved hearing you speak Norwegian with each other !!!
So beautiful and you have accomplished so much even with travel and all else you do! Thank you for sharing and enjoy summer in your lovely garden on the lake 💐
My that’s a lot of ground to take care of, but I can see how much you love being outdoors. Love the greenhouse! And maybe you can repurpose that fir tree (that will be cut down near the lake) for an early Christmas indoors. 😉
Gorgeous plants I like getting out I n the garden found you channel through the last homely house , I've,been to Norway 🇳🇴 but years ago ! Loved it Kaye x
Long time subscriber but have never commented. Your gardens are lovely. The view of the lake is priceless. Construction can be very stressful. We had a sunroom built last spring and it was crazy. I very much enjoy going to the thrift stores with you. So nice of Arne to finish the blind dead lady’s projects😆 Love you both❤
Your garden is beautiful! I had a moose run through my yard and made quite a mess! Good thing she was cute and I could get beautiful picks. Happy gardening❤️
Your Bergenia are HUGE. They get about 16 " high in Western Canada with thr flower stalk! I don't see any Rhubarb! Always luv a good strawberry & rhubarb pie in June. When your peonies bloom, you can make Peony Jelly. It is delicious!
I'm going to watch this video again and also remember to watch it next winter. You've created a lovely tribute to your beautiful garden and to spring 😊
Ever since I first went to Norway and Denmark it has fascinated me how the growing season is so short in Scandinavia! In Switzerland at an altitude of 400-700 m above sea level (the lowest altitude we have is something like 270 m!) our season begins gently in March and we can put tender plants out from mid-May (early May this year). We don't get snow as much as we used to, and it's generally only November-March on and off, so obviously different to you on a mountain. But it does mean that you get to have a lot of flowers blooming profusely at once that we have one after the other, which is the silver lining to your short season!! Our clematis and paeonies are already finished, even the roses are nearly done and it's not even mid-June, yet...
I can relate - I was starstruck at your workshop in 2022! 🤩🥰 Lilacs seem to bloom earlier every year here in Northern Illinois. Enjoyable but concerning…
Enjoyed the views of your garden, it's beautiful...Please don't cut down the tree, I love it where it is!!! To kill the weeds, salt is supposed to work better than vinegar. The best salt is the one used in winter on icy areas. It will kill good plants as well as weeds, so its best used in your gravel areas.
A lovely walk around your garden. I watched the video while in my campervan at a campsite near Lillehammer - so perhaps not far away! However the weather is now not so sunny and warm in Norway. Hope your new summer plants are OK.
Thanks for the tour! It’s amazing and frightening how much ahead of the usual schedule your garden is growing. At this rate you’ll have violets blooming in January!
Wow! The garden looks lovely! It’s exceptionally hot down here in Texas as well, but everything in our garden that is in direct sunlight is beginning to look very charred and brown lol 😂 happy to see you both as always ❤❤❤❤
Thanks for the early Garden tour! Everything looks so green and lush-- hope we get to see the greenhouse when it is all set up with the shelves and things are growing profusely. I'm pulling for you, Rob! 🤞😂 And Freya, you were excellent at keeping everyone safe from wandering Moose 🫎 👏🥓
Hello arnecarlos Beautiful garden. I do feel though that you should completely jet wash the brick paths to expose their beauty. No moss on them. Too treacherous. Moss is lovely on walls or boulders...💯🍻💞
Good Afternoon from Canada. Thank you for sharing the positive and healing energy of spring. Natures energy and loving people are what I need to remind me of the beauty of this earth. Watching for me and my resently passed partner . Thank you 🙏🌹
Happy Sunday! The garden is looking beautiful and I love your view of the lake! I know it's a lot of work to keep up with all of your plants, but also very rewarding. Fingers crossed for Rob. Glad to see Freja out enjoying the sunshine with you. 🤗 Hope you have a blessed week! ❤😘
How beautiful are your surroundings! The lake surrounded by fir trees, the blue sky and the lovely garden around the house. It was a pleasure to see. Thanks!
Hi guys glad to see your garden i just love the lake the new addition is beautiful with all the windows i liked rob he looks so cute cutting the grass i love seeing your place so enjoy your summer
i know the plight that Arne is having with those pest roots....here in the new orleans area we have 3 vines that will grow back if you leave the root alive....we have green ivy, purple ivy and kudzu.....kudzu is the worst, it can grown up the side of you house and the weight of it can remove plaster siding, vinyl siding and if it gets its roots under wood planks,, it can loosen them...Kudzu also grows up telephone poles and the weight can disconnect the wires from the pole.....we also have bamboo and with how wild it grows, you have put a root barrier where you plant it to prevent the spread....the root barrier requires you to bury think sheets of plastic more than a foot (30cm) or more where you want the bamboo to grow and then you have build sturdy fence or wall around the bamboo garden...either wood or stone, it can look really nice if done right.....if you don't put the root barrier and fencing around the bamboo, it will take over your yard and spread to your neighbor's yard too
I enjoyed listening to you speak in your native language. 😊
Please don’t cut down the tree by the lake-it’s beautiful! Imagine it with white lights in the winter- especially at Christmas😊 You have a beautiful home and garden.
Such a beautiful garden ! And with the view of the water it cannot be more perfect
Thank you so much Arlette!
The reflection of the sky and clouds in the lake is lovely. Glad you have a good time in the UK and enjoyed the gardens.

Hi guys. You live in such a beautiful peaceful place. ❤
We are fortunate
I like how you have seating in all different areas of the gardens.
Yes, it gives us an opportunity to enjoy it at different spots.
We had an early spring here also in Montreal. I wish you a good gardening season. It is a real pleasure to listen to you speak Norvegian, thanks !
Garden ideas so far along! Beautiful...

So beautiful! And it was so cool to see the first look at the extension!
It's already hit 100 here. Texas is tough. We start planting in early March. By August, it's a losing battle with the heat. I love seeing your garden.
I love hearing you speak Norwegian. It’s my childhood language. Thanks for the tour:)
Thank you for joining!

Thank you for sharing. Your garden is beautiful. I can not imagine weeding all that brick pavement- good luck! We here in Michigan are almost 4 weeks ahead as well. A mild winter and a moderately warm spring has brought everything out early.
