19:00 when your gun makes that noise, its just because of the friction of moving so much. a way to prevent that is by adding sewing machine oil onto the rods, it works like a grease. it will cause buildup from the extra yarn strands so it will need a regular wide down and re-grease, but thats what i do to prolong my gun's lifespan.
Just bought one as a surprise for my wife for Christmas. Thank you for your advice. People like you who share your wisdom are awesome for beginners like us. You make life better and fun.
Thats awesome, I have always wanted to try rug making. I will say though, that mask isn't doing anything. Thats a particulate mask for dust, and does nothing for vapors. Get yourself a respirator with a carbon filter otherwise don't even bother. I work in the adhesive industry and have lots of experience with this, not just a keyboard warrior. Stay safe and keep making cool stuff.
About 35 years ago (it may be more) I made a bathroom rug set completely by hand using a latch huck would love to do it now with that equipment. Thank you so much for showing us how its done.
I just came across the term tufting in a latch hook video and didn't know what that was at all. I searched the term and chose your video... I'm so glad I did ! What a great tutorial, as a absolut zero knowledge person I understood everything perfectly. Thank you sonvery much for taking the time to make this video. Much love and success to you in your endeavors ❤
If you were to leave the remaining at the bottom rather than the top when stretching your cloth onto the frame you can roll the excess up at the bottom then after cutting your rug free you have more material left over to cut a new straight edge great tip to save some extra material when using large pieces or if you buy in rolls.
Great Demonstration of every detail. As someone who can quickly get overwhelmed by learning a new skill, the mini side note tips were really helpful. Also your tufting lines are amazing!
For the tv in the back that says “Joann please sponsor me” you should do a black outline for the word “Joann” like you have it for “sponsor me”, I didn’t notice the word “Joann” untill the camera focused on it, just a helpful tip for more recognition, on another note I’ve never bought or tried to make a rug ever in my life, so good job at keeping someone like me entertained throughout the video👍💪
This video helped me so much! I’m about to start learning about rug tufting to make my own and you explained each step so perfectly for a beginner like myself! Definitely gonna watch your other videos and purchase from your links!
@azazelswings 👏👏👏same with me!! Thank you, Rhody! Beautiful English! I enjoyed listening your language. I want to try to make a rug now. I was 7 years old when I went to Armenia to visit my mom’s friends and they made bid area rugs there. I helped them. It was fascinating. The technique was different but also very interesting. So, thank you very much again 🙏🙏🤗
You’re seriously great! Ive done a couple rugs trial and error with how to use the yarn. And let me just say you are the first to actually show and explain how you set your yarn up, which i will definitely be trying! Thanks man keep doing your thing 😌✌🏽
Thank you for the Video, Dude! The best that I´ve seen so far. The only thing Im wondering, ....why was the Logo all white at the end ? Wasnt it supposed to have more colors,...as the customer asked for. All the best.
Hey thank u so much for this video Although I didn’t really get the gliding vs pushing the gun up part and it happens to be my problem can you explain better?
It’s hard to put into words. But I push the gun into the fabric and press the button. Letting the gun pushing itself up for the most part. Just don’t force the gun, direct it
You have made my decision Easy. Procrastinated, too long. Your Incredible Patient and thorough Explanations. At every step. Has totally given me confidence. Have a go. Thankyou sincerely 🎉
Hey this is very cool-makes me wonder if alternatives could be found to the toxic adhesives-be very careful of the exposure to yourself and environment, remember even though you may avoid the fumes personally, they are not disappearing and contribute to damaging the environment…..so I encourage you to find substitutes and continue to create while considering the impact -Peace
I'm an artist my teacher at school tried to encourage me to make rugs but I didn't realize how goes into this I just don't have tht kind of patience. But You are a amazing artist Bro and a great teacher yourself.
I have a question, I'm new to tufting and I'm about to make my first rug now.. so when you insert the yarn into the gun why do you put 2 strings of yarn and not one bcs I've seen ppl that do only one string of yarn into the gun.. is there a difference? If yes what is better pls and thanks a lot❤️
Thanks so much. Beginner here, definitely so informative. One question, where do you get the labels/ tags, is it just regular stickers that you print on?
Hello! I’m new here and using this video to get myself started. Every time I try to make a line it rips the fabric and all of the yarn falls out. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong
Hello!! Aside making the imagine horizontal from photoshop/laptop rather!! Is it possible to project your imagine from the front side of your frame/Fabric then trace it at the backside?! That way it's do appear horizontal ryt?!!...
Love the content bro. Now that you have your frame partitioned, how do you avoid hitting the center framing when making a bigger rug? Or do you not make big rugs?
I’m glad it helped! I can say that it helps me doing it all at once rather than on the frame + after. But I’ve seen some other creators do some extremely great shaving while it’s still on the frame. I’d recommend figuring out what gives you the best results. Everyone has preferences 😁
That was a great tutorial. Thank you! I have a question: Can you tuft with any yarn, like knitting yarn or is that a special tufting yarn that you use?
Any yarn works but I choose to specifically use 4ply yarn. I recommend using 4ply because it’s thick enough to fill in designs and it stays in the tufting guns original setting 😁
Awesome video pal Hey how did u no it was done just from looking at the back,as you can't see the front view while on the stand,is it just a matter of doing it enough to no when its finished,or do u just fill every hole on the canvas,I'm new to this much love all the way from new zealand
Ow my, I just bought a new tufting gun, I'm not using it yet, but when I first turned it on, it made the noise that you said on the video. Hope it's all good.
Great video but I do have a question. I have an AK1 and it's my understanding that the original AK1's have the metal toggle on/off switch that goes left to right and the look alikes have the plastic red switches. Is this one an actual AK1?
Honestly I’ve just been using the one from Amazon. I’m not 100% sure so I can give a definite answer. But I will say it works just as well as the other guns I’ve seen 😁
man awesome video, i was wondering a specific thing.. i wanna know how thick or what specific thickness of yarn u use, cuz it seems to be several choices at the red heart page and im doubting wich one to choose.. thank you in advance
Great video man
No way the goat just commented! It means a lot man 💪🏽

hey I have a question! could I cut the rug out before putting on the glue, then glue it outside?
Wwhat type of yarn would you recomend to get thick fluffy rugs without using 4-5 strings?

what size yarn do you use? 4, 6, 8 ply? do you ALWAYS do 2 strands even at 8 ply?
I love the way you explained everything in detail, this video really helped me to understand what I should be doing as a beginner. Thanks King.
i read about number of plies for the yarn and when to use it such as decors, clothes, rugs. how many plies are your yarn?
Hi Rhody, love your content. Could you say the frame's size?
6ft x 4.5ft
What do you need to start a biz of rugs
Is there a way that I can use my phone with a projector to project an image?

Hi Rhody! Wanna ask do you cover the edges with some fabric all just leave it like that?
Thanks for awsome video guide and your work peace ✌️
I've seen some people add fabric to the edges but I personally don't because the back is gonna be on a wall or floor so its not really needed
