I’ve been watching y’all for over a year now and I’ve never commented. But I just wanted you to know I love your channel it’s awesome. Please keep doing what you’re doing. It helps me get away when I physically can’t. And takes me to places I will never get see. You two are awesome
One of the reasons I like your content is because you do show the real issues that you face while sailing around the world. I think some people just get cranky and post things that are how they feel in that moment. I can’t imagine they were talking about you guys. I’ve learned a lot watching your videos. I appreciate your perspective.
Thank you! We just try to capture what it's really like out here - the good and the bad. We are happy to hear that it shows through in our videos and even better to hear you are learning some things along the way!
I watch probably a dozen sailing channels and, true to human nature, most want to show the good things about sailing and about sailing life. That's just human nature. I think anyone watching should realize there is a price to pay for paradise which is all the hard work, the not so good days and all that. You know better than us ! But anyway, nice video. All of you put in a lot of work doing the videos and editing the videos. I truly thank you for doing that and for sharing ! Yes, it will be a documentation of your travels but, you have taken many, many people along with you. Thank you again and keep making those smart sailing decisions ! Be safe.....
I watch around a dozen sailing channels, every one of them takes time to stress how hard the life can be, that the highs are very high, but the lows are extremely low. They also show a lot of the maintenance they need to preform to keep the boat sailing. Seems to me, those "high" times wouldn't be so high if the life was easy, what makes them so high is all the hard work you put in to reach those highs...Anytime you work hard for something, the reward feels ten times better....
Hi Bruce, thank you so much for your comment! We totally agree with you - hard work, high reward. We really appreciate you always supporting us and cheering for us out here! 💙
You all are such a lovely couple. I so enjoy being carried along on your adventures..(that's a wild looking airport you can see when you all are atop the mountain)
Thank you for that beautiful drone footage while I enjoy my morning coffee. And I live in reality so love that you allow me to escape it once in awhile. Screw the naysayers and keep doing what you do. You are showing me a part of the planet I will never experience. So thank you!
Please ignore the haters. Some people see one of your videos and make assumptions without watching your whole journey ( and I mean all the hard work, sweat, and tears while you were fixing your boat in Mexico). Haters are going to hate. Shake it off and follow your dreams !! Don't let anyone doubt what you do. It's real and authentic ❤ I absolutely love watching your journey. It's nearly a year I'm doing it while having very little spare time.
Thank you for taking the time to come along with us out here! We appreciate your comment and can't believe you have been following for a year! Awesome!! 💙🌍
You two have always shown the legit side of the sailing adventure, i appreciate and fully enjoy that, I really like the day in the life bit.. ofcourse there will be people out there that moan that its all blue skies and bikinis. I still try to wrap my head around the adventure you two have been on since i started following. awesome stuff as always.
Hey Andrew! We like to share real life out here mostly because we when we look back on our videos we want to remember our journey for what it actually was. Thank you for coming along with us and supporting our journey out here! 💙🍻
Hi guys !! Well I was having one heck of a bad day and then I stumbled on your channel. And wow. Just WOW. I’ve been binge watching to catch up sitting at my pool and over 4-5 beers promising myself to do something like One Life only on a much smaller scale ! So thank you so much for turning my day around and now back to 2021!! Much love and safe travels from Jacksonville Beach, Fla !!! ⛵️ ❤👍💯💪(originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin lol )
I'm a regular working stiff and watching beautiful paradise locations, kite boarding, catching fish, local culture and happy adventures is my escapism. I already have plenty of hardships and don't need to watch yours too. Keep the good times coming. Cheers for a wonderful show
The reason I enjoy watching your channel is because I believe you are keeping it real. I've watched your pacific crossing videos, and it doesn't get any more real than crapping in a bucket! Keep your chin up, because you're doing it right. Cheers and stay safe. 👍👍✌🤣
I love your videos! I have been out cruising for several months myself and know the reality of living on a sailboat and believe you do an amazing job at showing both sides of this lifestyle. The reason why we go through the very uncomfortable times on the water is the gratification we get from visiting and experiencing those remote and unique places and spending some time with the locals. I can't wait to get back out on the water and your videos are such a strong motivation. Thank you!!!
Hi there :) We are happy to hear you are enjoying our channel! You are exactly right, all of the 'bad' gets washed away when we pull into somewhere new. Thanks for coming along with us and we hope you can get back on the water real soon!
We really like how happy you two are! You have shown that constant aggression to your dreams can and will succeed! Love how you are both succeeding in your adventure! ❤ from 🇨🇦BC
Very inspirational. I really loved this little island. That pass made me anxious and I am not normally. You'd want to be real confident in the engine/rudder on a good day.
We loved it there! Such a gorgeous island that no one goes to and just around the corner from Bora Bora! We were definitely grateful for our freshly fiberglassed rudder!
Just a word of thanks & encouragement to you two. My wife & I our in our 50's and haven't been able to take a vacation since 2016. I was going to take her to Hawaii a few years ago for our 27th anniversary, then she was diagnosed with a liver disease and we had to cancel it. Your videos stir the spirit & allow for me to live vicariously through your adventures. I would so like to retire to make passages in that lifestyle, but her need for insurance makes it not doable. You have no idea how awesome it is to be able to watch your exploits and feel like I'm right there, triming the sails, reeling in a Mahi, fixing & working problems on the boat, and drinking coconut rum. Thank you so much for taking us along for the ride of a lifetime. P.S. if you want an amazing sundowner, put Pain Killada in the YT search & check out Distinguished Spirits version that mixes in cinnamon syrup (easy to make). You'll love it. Cheers!
Hi there :) First, we are so saddened to hear about your wife's illness and we are sending lots of good vibes to you both. We are happy to hear our videos provide you some joy and we are thankful to have you along with us on this journey. We will certainly try a Pain Killada, it sounds like a perfect end to a hot day! Cheers! 💙💙
@@SailingOneLife This guy tells a great story about the Tiki history of the Pain Killer and his version of the Pain Killada: ua-cam.com/video/KXsvaeyKDqM/v-deo.htmlsi=Bi2Rq3cl_Pf0cLuH Cheers back at ya.
As coastal cruisers the wife and I have always enjoyed you and Gary's channel because it has always felt real to us. And we agree with "garysmith" down below. Soon as you dropped the egg the wife said that one's Gary's. "poor Gary".
Puckered sphincters!! ??? That pass is something, especially listening to your narrative!! Must have been quite nerve-racking. Glad you 2 have the sense not to leave until safe! At least you are in a peaceful and beautiful island. The hike finale and drone footage from up there was spectacular!! Be safe guys, until the next one!!
Pucker level = max 🤣🤣 Thanks! We are happy about our decision to stay put as well. Like you said, such a beautiful and peaceful place to hang around for awhile!
Just returned to the US after spending time in the Marquesas and the Society Islands. It"s great to have seen firsthand the magic of French Polynesia that you guys have captured so well! Living vicariously through your adventures! Cannot wait to experience the passage to NZ on One Life!
G'day Brooke and Gary thanks for another awesome episode! I always absolutely 💯 love watching your content so honest and real! Hopefully you both are doing well and keeping safe! Much love.
If you want to keep eggs for a really long time (up to 5 months) make a saturated solution of sodium silicate (water glass) and keep the eggs submerged in jar full of it.
Strong dose of realty = watch the rudder series. 😂 You both do a great job of the investment and cost to experience paradise. Rudder rebuilds, fuel filter changes, finicky water makers .. um, head issues anyone? As they say, there is no free lunch and I love that you cover the day-to-day as well as the amazing locations and incredible people along the path.
Happy Friday Brooke and Gary, What an island. Great photography. I'm not sure I could climb to the top and sit on that rock. Yikes! Looking forward to next week sailing out of the pass.
Hi Lois! Getting to the top of the rock wasn't easy but the view was certainly worth it! We will 'see' you next week as we exit the pass and head to Suwarrow!
Really enjoyed this video. I absolutely love following you both. Thanks for your great narrative descriptions of the islands and of all your underwater adventures. Thanks Gary & Brooke.
little secret I like to pass on. powdered eggs are not bad if you rehydrate them the night before. not bad omelets or scrambled eggs if you add cheese. also powdered milk isn't bad if you mix that up and let it sit for 24 hours in the fridge.
Thanks for the tip! We do carry powder eggs onboard although I typically only use them for baking. I'll try rehydrating the night before and testing the powder out as scrambled eggs!
Good cliffhanger. Great video showing the real One Life as always a nice adventure showing the pros and cons of the sailing lifestyle. You guys are awesome. Cheers 🥂👍
Must be very hard to take the right decision on when to leave the island. It remains me the movie Cast Away when he couldn’t leave the island cus the waves were huge. I like how you said that both of you have to be agree in order to procede with the plan. Love the Drone shots.
Hey Raul! Yeah it was a bit of a difficult decision but we had time on our side so we were able to wait for better conditions! Hope you and Justine are doing great!! 💙
New sub here! You are not trapped... you have a way out - you have a boat. In my paradise, I am truly trapped - it takes an airplane to escape - and I don't mind one bit!
Well that was fun ‼️ 🎉 Nothing wrong with a few rainy days to catch up on rest and boat maintenance......even if just cleaning up a bit. See you next time as you evaporated the atoll paradise. ✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝️ 👙 🌞 ✨
While we’d rather be there to buy you an Azteca, how about a few eggs instead? 😂 As for the rest, no comment other than some viewers out there are completely misguided. Loved the vid…hugs 🤗
Love watching your journey! Can't wait to be out there ourselves! We get fresh eggs from friends frequently. I understand the turning of the eggs, but I don't flip each egg in the carton. Rather, I flip the whole carton over. I've never had a problem picking it up as I can see it's upside down. It's so much easier for me, and I've never dropped a single egg. 😉
A couple people have mentioned just turning over the entire egg carton, but I'm afraid they will crack if I do that because there is nothing on the top side of the carton to keep them from tumbling into each other. Maybe I'm being over protective of my eggies 😅🤣I'll try it and report back.
Hey Russ! Thanks! Our arrival into Opua is going to be a bit delayed. We are still working on our standing rigging. :( will send you a FB message soon!
I really enjoyed you channel, you have ended up in a beautiful place, but even paradise has its draw backs. Bad weather and limited resources fresh food etc. It really looks fantastic life sailing around, but you certainly do work hard at keeping your home One-life in good working order, all them months in Mexico on the hard maintaining and improving your boat for the voyage across the Pacific Ocean. I love the content in your UA-cam channel. Keep up the great work.👍
Hi Paul! Thank you for your comment! We really appreciate you coming along with us on this journey! It's not always fun and games but it's certainly worth every challenge!
Good stuff thanks ,I don't think many people understand the amount of work required to keep the ship and crew safe and happy. Good job guys hope to meet you one day, still one foot on the boat one foot on shore in Florida, 37 Tayana Pilot house Sailboat. getting older and damn it sucks. enjoy your time together, for me it's like all of a sudden, I woke up 20 years older, lol best of luck, damn that pass looks dreadful, from above keep up the good work, cheers pop's
Thank you for coming along with us out here! We hope to cross paths with you on the water one day soon. Where do you keep your boat in Florida? Cheers!
You know, I think it's good therapy for you guys to show us the good and the bad (like the ending). It doesn't become a fake channel and your souls stay clean if you get my meaning.. I sometimes think of those two kids in that van( Gabby and Brian). Well, a different life was portrayed on UA-cam. I don't want that with you guys..
We are doing okay. We had an unexpected death in the family and spent some time in the US. We are back on the boat now and hope to have a new video out soon.
I would say you two provide a very balanced look of your life at sea. The good and the bad. I can’t imagine that “Gary shitting in a bucket” is considered “the good stuff.” 😂
Looked a little dicey entering that pass. Okay lets talk about this subject of being stuck in paradise. Yeah, I don't think I would use terms like stuck! More like fortunate. 😊
If anyone buys a yacht expecting cruising to be all beer and skittles, they will dump the boat at the first storm or engine failure that comes along. Someone will get a cheap yacht... LOL You guys do keep it real... I like that... oh, good decision delaying departure. I wouldn't attempt it either...
Fear and being scared robs one from living a true full life. You only have ONE LIFE, live it full and well. All that would ever happen is you may fall in the water. Grab the dingy line and hold on enjoy the bunchy ride until one pulls the other back in. Of course it easy for me as I have solo canoed class 3-5 white water rapids and been trashed, flipped bruised, cut and slammed back into the rapids. Sometimes torn free from being saddle and strapped to the canoe by the force of the river waves having to swim the rapids. Over my one life, at 62, now I have paddled close to 2,800 miles on rivers and only once near drowning. That one time risk of drowning was my fault as I was tried, beat up and my mental faculties were not functioning to peak levels at the end of a long day and could not time my breaths for each big wave. they refer to that as flash drownings. but I am here to type about it. Can not wait to join you both on a Norseman sailboat as soon as someone buys my Native Oasis Botanical Garden. Jim Rodgers
Hey Jim! Thanks for sharing your personal story! It sounds like you have experienced some really cool stuff! We agree that exhaustion can be a very bad thing when on the water. So glad you were okay! We hope your business sells soon so you can sail away!
Brooke in regards to UA-camr sailers not showing the realities of your life, I disagree as well. I cried with you when you found the water in your rudder. I just watched Kaza and Brian struggle for the past several episodes. When Grace and Sierra had to say “see ya later”, it broke my heart…just to name a few. Oh and when Warren flipped the dinghy in a storm, see I can go on and on!! Thank you for being amazing at bringing us along with you ❤

Spectacular episode with absolutely breathtaking views! You made my day!! Sail on, One Life from Daytona Beach, FL
We love that you are watching from Daytona Beach! Not far from One Life's home port! 💙
hahaaaa that's so funny...love it that you in left the last bit 😂😂😂 poor Gary
Bwahaha 🤣🤦
That pass looks gnarly..wow, beautiful anchorage though
Hey Ray! Yeah that pass was nothing to mess around with but a very beautiful island indeed!
Wow, that view! Nice to get some downtime together. I think you guys do show real life footage. Love the vlog :)
The view up there was just jaw dropping! Thank you :)
Super video of a super spot!❤️❤️
Thanks, Steve! 🤩
great to see you so happy
Thanks, Paul! 💙
Loved the drone shots from the top of your hike!
Thanks, mom!
Boy, that’s one heck of a cliffhanger!
Right!? 😮Gary's idea to end it there!
Another great episode y'all ❤
Thank you! 🥰
New sub here! You are not trapped... you have a way out - you have a boat. In my paradise, I am truly trapped - it takes an airplane to escape - and I don't mind one bit!
Thanks for the sub! 🥰 Sounds like you live some place amazing!
Thank you! Yes, we will see ya next week as we escape paradise! 😆💙⛵🌍
Cool video, thanks
Thank you!
Love the drone footage!!
Thank you! It is some of our favorite!
While we’d rather be there to buy you an Azteca, how about a few eggs instead? 😂 As for the rest, no comment other than some viewers out there are completely misguided. Loved the vid…hugs 🤗
Hi guys! Thank you for the eggs! 😆We may buy a bottle of rum instead. Sending hugs to you both! 💙
Brooke, at 11:40 those pools in the back ground remind me of the "Blue Lagoon" in Iceland. the way the reef is forming the pools is so awesome.
Hey Gibb! Oh cool! We would love to get to Iceland one day! Hope you are having a good weekend!
@@SailingOneLife Better hurry.. lol the volcano action in Iceland is getting real close to the Blue Lagoon.
I'm doing good, TY.
Hay guys, loving your honesty & the realistic vidios you put out👍. Keep up the good work 💪. SV Kiwi Lady Opua Bay of islands New Zealand 👍🏿
Hey Russ! Thanks! Our arrival into Opua is going to be a bit delayed. We are still working on our standing rigging. :( will send you a FB message soon!
Catch you on the next video 🌄
See ya then! 🙌
It's not always fun and games but it's certainly worth every challenge!
great vid kids....that pass looked mean....
It was the gnarliest conditions we've seen in a pass!
Guys, I learned this a long time ago, people see results, seldom do they see the effort.
You are right! Thank you! A good lesson to learn!
Cheers!
@30:30 They do a shot? :) Kidding, good decision making! Thanks for the episode!
Hahha! A shot of vodka would have been a great addition to our decision making!
RIP Gabby 💔 such a tragic story.
We agree, healthy to show all aspects of this life!
@@SailingOneLife You guys doing ok? Haven't seen a vid in a while..
We are doing okay. We had an unexpected death in the family and spent some time in the US. We are back on the boat now and hope to have a new video out soon.
@@SailingOneLife Sorrow for your loss but happiness for your return..
I would say you two provide a very balanced look of your life at sea. The good and the bad. I can’t imagine that “Gary shitting in a bucket” is considered “the good stuff.” 😂
Haha, that definitely falls into the....this shit suck category!
❤ Wow EPIC ❤
Incredible place! 💙
Between Washington state and Oregon, the Columbia river, where it meets the Pacific Ocean, can be extremely 😳 wish you guys well 😊😊❤❤
Looked a little dicey entering that pass. Okay lets talk about this subject of being stuck in paradise. Yeah, I don't think I would use terms like stuck! More like fortunate. 😊
Hey John! Yes, we are extremely fortunate!
Darn! Stuck in paradise and couldn't get out. Bummer! 🙂
Haha yeah rough life
Tyvm weird just popped up on UA-cam usually right away. Fair winds
Thank you! 🤩💙
Nice video
Thanks, Jesse!
Thanks, Colin! Ha yeah you are right about that! Cheers!

What we call a Low Probability/High Impact Risk when we are holding out Risk Mitigation meetings. Best avoided if possible.
100%
Thank you for being amazing at bringing us along with you ❤
Hi Lisa! Ah, thank you so much for your comment. We appreciate you coming along with us and sharing in all our high and low moments. Thanks for all the love and good vibes you send to all of us out here!
