I didn't use twigs when I made camp fires because I brought a blow torch with me I also brought a saw and loppers with me to make it easier to cut wood.
@@stanjarmolowicz apparently so. I mean it's a look more brutal than pepper spray, and it's a good alternative to carrying a gun. It's actually more effective than a gun. Although the best option is to not spook a bear in the first place
Nature has been it's own beauty, it's refreshing to see cinematics and scenery shown in the documentary, I wish in the near future, nature stays like this and will always be beautfiul

Been going through watching your adventures and yellowstones 1ofmyfavoriteplacesonthewholeearth. Fun listening to your talk about the bison and keep in a distance. When my boys were about eleven and thirteen we took a trip to yellowstone we slept in the back of the truck and they each had a pumpkin. I think we were at Norris. I just know there was a big open field when we woke up in the morning. I looked out the window and all. I saw was bison everywhere in and amongst all the tents like a foot away from them. I was like oh my gosh so we just moved very slowly and we realized they really paid no attention to us they. Didn't care that we were there but boy we sure did care that they were. Great memory

I know this video is awhile ago, but it is so unbelievable that you spent thst many days out there without seeing a bear. I am much older than you are, 53 years old, but when we went to Yellowstone growing bears were everywhere. The campground we normally stayed in was closed down to too many grizzly attacks. We used to camp in a tent. Even now, thank God you were a little ignorant about the bears,especially the grizzlies and were kept safe. Other bears you can do certain things with, but there is no rhyme or reason to a grizzly. Other people that are experienced outsdoorsman might not have done what you did for a good reason. You have more chance of seeing a bear or grizzly in Yellowstone than anywhere in the U.S. besides Alaska and Canada.

I think, for me, the most useful thing I have gotten out of your videos is Thomas's "rest step." Living in a mountainous area, I use it regularly. I call it the lock step though since you lock your knees. Like he said it takes a while to get used to, but it makes a world of difference!

This is one of the best episodes yet! I discovered your channel about a week ago and watched all the episodes in my free time over 3 days. Yosemite was definitely my favorite episode due to the beautiful landscape. I've probably watched it 4 or 5 times all the way through. This episode definitely rivals the quality of Yosemite though and might even be my new favorite. This is definitely my favorite channel on UA-cam and I'm glad I found it. I'm still in school and don't have a ton of opportunity to go on crazy bushcraft backpacking trips but I aspire to live an outdoor lifestyle once I'm out of school with a stable income. Wow this video gives me nolstagia. I went to Yellowstone for one of my school classes and we went through almost the exact same experience. Same road, same stopping by Jackson then Jackson lake, hell even the tents you guys were camping in im 99%sure was the one just neighboring the one I was camped in. I loved this episode. The morning of day 3 was beautiful. I can't wait to go camping again I was always up early to see the sunrise and enjoy the peace and quiet. Yellowstone is my most favorite park been there twice, but wasn't able to camp. Keep up the good work guys, I've enjoyed every episode.

It was so nice to see parts of Yellowstone that few people get to see, although the end-shot of Lower Yellowstone falls was nice, even though it wasn't featured in the hike. But the overall scenery was just so beautiful and amazing. And the quiet sounds of nature at 50:09 was a nice touch, the lapping of the waves on the shore, the bird calls. Musically, starting at 34:14 was an awesome and majestic piece, worthy of a movie soundtrack. It has so much depth to it and the deep drumming, almost in the background, gave it a feeling of epic, high adventure. Terrific production. And, as always, the loony tunes, Monkee-esque goofiness leaves one with a smile as the current adventure comes to a close.
This film is simply Beautiful! It evokes sentimental feelings of days gone by and fantastic dreams. It truly is moving. I'm very impressed by your backpacking meals. They inspire me to try more of these recipes myself. The music and filmography are excellent. Bravo!!
I actually made it out West last August. I got to see The Grand Tetons along the Snake River and Yellowstone over a weeks time. I saw some of the most amazing sights on earth. I cannot wait to go back! Enjoyed camping with you guys!

Just found you guys yesterday from the Mt Hood timberline trail video. I am a devout follower now! Then I find you in Yellowstone and I am a certified groupie. 😂. Really nicely done and entertaining
Use the 90º spine on the back of your knife to scrape the fatwood, creating 'dust'. In addition, do little feathers on the fat wood. That should get ya going even in those damp conditions. With the magnifying glass, you could use some of the charred wood from the previous fire to create an ember. The ember would then be put into a 'bird's nest' to blown into flame.

Great presentation once again. You all make going backpacking look accessible, particularly the great local trips you have done, Zaleski, Vesuvius, etc. The fact you are not perfect at making fires, don't have all the latest elitist gear, (Thomas's blue poncho) make you much more down to earth than others. It has been fun watching your adventures and growth. Keep up the great work and please keep doing trips close to home here in OH,KY,IN and WV.

I loved this episode. The morning of day 3 was beautiful. I can't wait to go camping again I was always up early to see the sunrise and enjoy the peace and quiet. Yellowstone is my most favorite park been there twice, but wasn't able to camp. Keep up the good work guys, I've enjoyed every episode.

Great videos! Along with the beautiful footage, you guys have a great sense of humor and I learn a lot while watching.
It was so nice to see parts of Yellowstone that few people get to see, although the end-shot of Lower Yellowstone falls was nice, even though it wasn't featured in the hike. But the overall scenery was just so beautiful and amazing. And the quiet sounds of nature at 50:09 was a nice touch, the lapping of the waves on the shore, the bird calls. Musically, starting at 34:14 was an awesome and majestic piece, worthy of a movie soundtrack. It has so much depth to it and the deep drumming, almost in the background, gave it a feeling of epic, high adventure. Terrific production. And, as always, the loony tunes, Monkee-esque goofiness leaves one with a smile as the current adventure comes to a close.
You guys are amazing. I can watch your series all day long. truly inspiring and well edited!

I actually made it out West last August. I got to see The Grand Tetons along the Snake River and Yellowstone over a weeks time. I saw some of the most amazing sights on earth. I cannot wait to go back! Enjoyed camping with you guys!

Just found you guys yesterday from the Mt Hood timberline trail video. I am a devout follower now! Then I find you in Yellowstone and I am a certified groupie. 😂. Really nicely done and entertaining
Use the 90º spine on the back of your knife to scrape the fatwood, creating 'dust'. In addition, do little feathers on the fat wood. That should get ya going even in those damp conditions.
With the magnifying glass, you could use some of the charred wood from the previous fire to create an ember. The ember would then be put into a 'bird's nest' to blown into flame.
Good to make and carry char cloth and a container to make it in too. Good points Scott.
