    Luckily for them, they caught the back half of the shower scene.

    100% agree. Saw it yesterday as well. I honestly like Terrifier 2 more due to the storytelling, graininess film vibe, and the whole feel of the film. It felt like a classic 80s campy fun flick. This felt a bit more modern. It was insanely intense and I really did like it. But, totally agree with your points on the storytelling of 3.

    People may not like these films, but outside of the horror fan in me I love this series for another reason. You really see Damien Leone improve as a filmmaker. He does everything from writing, filming, practical effects, and editing. You can really see his improvements as a filmmaker over each Terrifier film, which makes these fascinating to me from an analytical perspective

The sound effects are overplayed letting you know it's just a goofy movie. Not to be taken too seriously...just a bloody good time with great gory practical effects. Budget was 2 million. This part 3 almost certain to rake in 50 to 100 million. Anything over 5 million is a total success. Damien's budget for part 4 may be around the 10 to 15 million. Imagine the horror he'll have access to when making Terrifier 4. Omg!

The first Blair Witch scared the bejesus out of me. Poltergeist was great. Jaws was great. The first Halloween. It Follows, etc. Terrifier isn’t scary it’s just gore porn. • @TheMisfitPond
      @TheMisfitPond  12 днів тому +5

      I think the reason why it works for me is because of the charisma revolving around art the clown combined with the entertainment value embedded within the over the top, creative and self aware attitude it has with the gore. It's almost a challenge to see what one can endure and what can shock your senses. Blair Witch was a different kind of horror. It was really scary because it seemed real. Splatter-fest movies are nothing more than exploitation films, which are fun because they test the limits of what is acceptable viewing.

    Slight correction: T3 was not banned, but restricted in France. The restriction pertains to people under the age of 18, which is super rare in France. So it’s equivalent to an NC-17 rating.
    But other countries, like Germany or the UK, constantly slap 18 ratings on films, even on censored/cut versions. So the French are still more liberal than almost any other country, including the US, as far as film censorship is concerned.
    But any censorship is like free publicity especially to those prohibited from seeing it 😅, imho.

  • @crescentfreshsongs
    @crescentfreshsongs 12 днів тому +2

    I felt the same about the runtime, haha. For all the complaints about T2's runtime, 3 actually felt rushed without that extra 10-15 minutes. This franchise needs that jumbo runtime to breathe properly, just because of how Art goes about his business.

    I only saw one couple leave and that was during the opening scene with the kids. Personally I thought the movie was good not great because it does have its flaws but still entertaining. I have a feeling that the character that was supposedly killed offscreen might be alive, that could've been the head of the shower guy. It's kind of strange that they didn't show it. You know a sequel is coming, they will have to upped the ante when it comes to the kills and gore.

    The violence got to me, which surprised me because I’ve never felt uncomfortable like that. Heart rate well up. The stories of people fainting intrigued me so I read quite a lot about why that happens to some people, and I wonder if that opened up a part of my brain in response to this type of horror. A couple of the scenes were almost just omitted, maybe the footage is there and we can get a directors cut or something. I too was thinking we had more time, ended up to having to go to the bathroom real quick waited until like right before the 3rd act thinking I woulda had to sit through more time. Then it was like not much left. Woulda' been nice if the theaters ( at least mine) did the ID thing so many like 13-15 year olds that's all I will say to that. Terrifier 3 hasn't been banned in France. I think you're referring to the fact that it was given an 18 rating there, which is very rare.
    Normally no film is rated higher than 16+ in France.... They're far more liberal than in The States.

    Yeah, I agree with all of the points you made in your video, I was hoping this 3rd entry would have been longer, more gruesome…and of course, the kills involving kids were not viewable, which took away from the perfect carnage this movie could have been. I prefer the 2nd film over this 3rd entry, even the first film was better, it felt better…and I really enjoyed watching it again this week. And yeah, the scene with the bomb really upset me, because there was really nothing to watch once the bomb went off, there was no one there, no half-dead, crawling and bleeding out children’s bodies, in pieces scattered everywhere…lamenting in infinite pain their slow demise, and the children in the beginning of the movie, I never got to see either one of them hacked to pieces, it’s just left like that, so pretty tame and actually kind of lame…for a ‘Terrifier’ entry! 🙄😒

    Help me understand why he seemingly went out of his way, to avoid showing breasts. A one second scene, being sliced with a chainsaw, but otherwise, he was actively hiding them. Was he afraid of being labeled misogynistic? He showed full male parts (again, being chainsawed,) but ..? Weird. The master-bay-shun scene was silly, and wholly unnecessary. I actually felt a bit embarrassed I’d i’m being honest. Dude was trying WAY too hard to be controversial. If you’re a gore veteran (Guinea Pig, etc.) there’s nothing here that will surprise, or offend you to the point of walking out. The bottom line, is that it’s gory fun at the movies, and nothing that I would consider “classic” by any means. I never imagined that I would see C-level horror/exploitation films doing huge money.

      @@celluloidtherapy5003 I think Leone was doing something subversive with not showing titties and dedicating a full on castration type scene. Slashers are always being critiqued for either using female nudity as a way to sell their movies as well as an over indulgence of violence against women. Male genitalia is also something that has been oddly held sacred in cinema. Hollywood and the MPAA pearl clutch over dick and balls. So it’s kinda refreshing to see a scene like that which seems directly aware of that fact

Art and Victoria using a rusty two man logging saw does work. We'll soon see some pitchfork action and an old fashioned band saw come in to play. But guns... too quick and painless. Low gore value.
