The Ole Man is back at it... He purchased another project car. The 1965 Ford Ranchero has a 302 powerplant that has not started in years. Can we get this awesome ride back to the the Family Car Graveyard? Can we get the 302 to start? Will water in the oil and no oil pump stall the first start? Will the RevStoration crew give up on a first start? Will she start and idle for the First time in years? All these questions answered on this episode of RevStoration.

Check out Ole Puddins' new interior video - ua-cam.com/video/Fw_UuyJK_0M/v-deo.html Thanks for watching!
My sciatica flared up just watching the Wheeler boys push that Ranchero. Great video, as always.
Work that needed to be done differently but it worked..
The interior in the truck is looking good.
Thanks Scooter..
Basics, timing and firing order. Blow it up!
The basic bought got.. the distributor was causing the timing to jump.. new distributor and bang she runs..
@@RevStoration I just worry watching after seeing my x get 3rd degree burns from playing with gas. Months of pain and suffering from being careless.
I like seeing you guys bring back the old cars keep it up
Thanks Nicholas... Thanks for watching..
You welcome rev
The '60s ranch arrows are my favorite little pickup trucks
Amen.. fun little ride.
Ranchero geez auto spell
Got to go to the VERY BEGINNING of the video and make a wise-acre remark: "That vehicle? Yup. Started on fire just fine...and practically all by itself, too!" Wait. :D
Eric, it started and fired well.. just not in time... She is a runner before it is all over with.
@@RevStoration Oh...I know. I had to...wait "had to" (there. MUCH better) toss in a cheesy wisecrack first (priorities, ya know...) Saw the vid. LOL! Was basically telling myself that was WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more patience than I had. :O :O :O :O
That was a tough one to get going but y’all got it. Looking forward to seeing a part 2 on the Ranchero.
More to come...
Hey y'all. Good to see ya. Many blessings. Thanks for sharing❤❤
Amen... Thanks for sharing.
The body style on those Rancheros from 63 to 65 were great , I like the 65 better because it wasn’t as rounded off as the earlier ones , it was a little wider looking and squared off . With that motor y’all better put some big breaks on that truck !!
I like the older ones but the 65 came with the 289... big engine with some go.
Hiya Rev,and ol man. I have a couple of nicknames for that sweet Ranchero. Napalm or Flamethrower. You ol boys are the best!!!!! Keep the faith brothers!!!
Napalm... she about blew..
Good Afternoon to ya Rev & Ol'Man! Hope you guys had a blessed Easter.
Same to you!
Life learns you new lessons every day
Amen.. I had alot of lessons on this ole rig.
I know you and dad could do it at God,s SPEED may God ALWAYS BLESS
Thanks Murvis..
I bought a perfect little cup holder/CD holder at Autozone for my '68. It fits on the hump and it hold two stainless sprawl mart tumblers.
I made one for Puddin.
I thought you would be saying good lord not my Ford when that fire was shooting out
Amen... it fired and about fired up..
You all are the best, no jokes today it ain’t the same
We had a few... just in the conversation...
Sounded good after it started you guys are something love watching you all love you guys happy Easter
Thanks David..
Can't wait for the test ride, this one should be a doozie, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Where does your dad, find all of these old cars to buy? Does he look in the classifieds or use Market place etc. Or do people just tell him about them? I loved the Ranchero body styles of that year looked like a Falcon. That was a rough one to get going this time, but you did it. Great job.
Larry... He looks at Marketplace religiously... He also knows alot of people... Thanks for watching..
Great job on the ole pudden 🙏👍
Thanks 👍
Bless his heart. At least he dragged a Ford home this time instead of a old junky Chevy lol.
Good Lord what a Ford!!
Amen... it fired about 700 times and then cranked..
I love you guys! I love ford's, and I love the way you keep going until you get a result. Thank you for your great work!
We have more to come
Keep up the awesome videos love them and Happy Easter
Thanks! You too!
For pushing vehicles like that you should mount a ball hitch to the front of Puddin and get a heavy pipe with trailer hitches on both ends so yo can hook it to the front of Puddin and to the hitch on the back of the other car to push it into the car port. You can also make a removable adjustable ball hitch that can be transferred from one cars bumper to the next one for ones that don’t already have a tow hitch on them. Next - I think it has a cam for a 351 W which has a different firing order which will explain the miss and how rough it runs. Also, this one is all mixed up. It’s based on the Falcon NOT on the Thunderbird so the under hood fire is way out of place.
Not a bad idea on the ball hitch.. it did not have the 351 firing order... We checked.. more than once.
Hey Rev!! Great singer, great wrencher...gotta ask where is Nutcase..love that car keep up the great vids and God Bless you and yours!!😊
Nutcase, is waiting in the wings.. We are going to need finish up the interior on it too.
You have a great voice for blues or what you choose. If you record I will buy the recording.Have a think get a good manager and goodluck tiger.
I have dropped a tune or two... Mostly "sanging" at church!
You guys are great keep up the good work love your videos
Thanks Joe
Well Glory!!!!
Amen... finally...
I'm a Dr.Pepper drinker but I won't lie I agree with Rev a good old Mt.Dew does sound good think I'm making a trip to gas station after this video
You can see by lookin at them rockers that it ain't gettin no oil! I'd be hosing all that down in PB blaster since its a rust penatraror and a great lubricant.
Hey, next time you are pushing, put your back to the vehicle, hands on a gripping point like the bumper with slight lifting and push with your legs, much more power and easier on you that way.
I was watching and making sure that car was on the runners... A winch and wire would be awesome.
You boys need to get yourselves an electric winch with a long cable. I’m tired just watching! Haha , Great channel
Thanks Brian... I believe the winch would be a good idea.
Fun video
Thanks Gunji
Great up Boys, regards from Downunder. p.s i love your accents its a beautiful accent the Southern one.
Thanks Robbie
Valves may be too tight......
it will loosen up soon... now that it has some oil on them.
Check that firing order.
John... we did and changed it... finally figured it out that it was the distributor.
What motor is in Puddin?
A 302..
👍
Thanks Jay.
It sounds like a timing chain jump gear.
We thought so too... but after we installed the right distributor... it worked.
Hey guys! Check the firing order in relation to when the valves are opening. They could have installed a 351 Windsor cam, which has a 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 order. Just a thought. Love the new ride!
that was my first thought. just put it on 1 and watch the intake valves through the progression of the order. you should know right away. and yeah this one is worth working on to restore. highly collectible.
We thought of that and tried it to no avail. The original distributor was bad... it was causing the fire to jump and be erratic. Thankful that with the new distributor and a carb that doesn't have a blown power valve... it is purr like a kitten... sorta
I don't believe it would run at all if that was the case
@tallica2002 it'll run on the wrong firing order, just will buck and fight and miss
@@RobertDickens2002 they'll run, but really poorly. I made the mistake of putting the wrong cam in my 351w...it was a 302 grind...when I fired it up, it sounded hkrrible, running on about 4 or t cylinders...I realized the mistake, rewired the cap, and it purred like new. Live and learn...ha!
Definitely check the firing order..i thought it had jumped timing..you got your work cut out for you..lol..would like to see more of the falcon Ranchero ..
Happy Easter y'all..🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇
We did... about a million times and changed it a few... It turns out that it was the wore out distributor.
@@RevStoration i saw the new distributor it did make a difference..the last time i heard a 302 run that bad it was a stretched timing chain that jumped timing..i do hope this is a good motor..looking forward to see it run ..take care Rev..see you on the next one 🙏🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Rev a very blessed and Happy Easter to you and yours! He is RISEN!!! Great video...
Thank you for watching... Happy Easter to you as well.... God Bless.
Happy Easter Rev and to your family, I know Old PJ Is in rough shape but it would make a great addition to the family Till next time my Friends.
Thanks Robert... Happy Easter to you as well.. Rough is true but it is going to be a fast little rig.
@@RevStoration Awesome
Old pj had to sneeze a bit must have been some allergens from the water and fuel 😂
One loud one for sure...
What a strange combination of problems this truck has.
Happy Easter 🐣
Peace ✌
Most certainly... one stacked on the top of another... We figure it out finally.
Happy Easter to you and your family. Love those Falcon pickups
Same to you, Tim... Happy Easter!
Lol. Being an 80’s baby and those Rancheros still being common on the road I used to think they were just the ugliest little cars ever, same with the El Camino. Now that I’m 40 something and rarely ever see them, they are finally pretty cool. Appreciate the video Rev and old man.
Agreed... I like the older Falcons but the 65 had the big 289... Going to be cool to run it down the road.
Awesome Ranchero! Looks like a fun project!!!
Thank you very much... we will have a blast with this one.
Rev kinda rough on the old man with lack of patience and grabbing him by the hand. That’s your Dad.
Eddie... he was about to pull the power wire to the coil... I was afraid it would not crank again... He did not understand my behind the camera hand motions... Hehe he bought tore me up off camera too..
Definitely has the markings of a later model cam firing order-likely 351W or a (less likely) later 5.0 camshaft. Try the other firing order that others have refenced and see if she doesnt purr. Love what you guys do!!
For Puddins heat problems put a 5\8 cut off valve in line from water pump to heater core I'm surprise it don't already have one it's seasonal thanks for great videos
We trying bother firing orders and finally found out it it was 180 out.. .Wired it that way and it fired... The biggest issue was the bad distributor.. and leaking gas
@RevStoration the way that she shakes has me worried in that case, but just do whatever it takes tho! Great video as always, can't wait for the next one!
You guys just have so much fun! Good job you two!👊
Thanks Nancy... we have fun if nothing else... Thanks for watching and commenting.
When someone correct you on the way you say something, just tell them that is the way it is said in Georgia. I am in Texas and we have our own english language here too.
Just the way I say it...
I'm hoping for part 2. This was so exciting. Happy Easter
Thank you... there will be a part 2 for sure... Got to get it running down the road.
You need to run you a chain through a pipe just leave a couple links hang out each and that you can hook to then you can push with the truck and also use it as a break and it only rolled maybe four to six inches beyond for the chain took up the slack
Plan in process.
Great video. Another good fire show under the hood. It will good see it back in the road.
Hope so! More to come.
Hey love you all! You all are fun to watch, but Rev. you’re wife still tells the best jokes!🥳🥳🥳🥳 GODS BLESSINGS TO YOU ALL ALWAYS!! 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🏆🏆🏆👍👍👍
Thanks Sue
Glad to see ya'll got good old pj sounding purdy decently 😀😀😀😀😀😀👍👍👍👍👍👍😀😀👍👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
more to come.
Old Puddin reminds me so much of the 1967 Ford Truck my best friend had when we were teenagers 44 years ago. Actually it was his father's, but he drove it like he was Charles Bronson in one of the movies that had a 1967 Ford truck with a 427 in it!!
Lordy we went all over North Georgia in that truck!
Nice Ranchero. You just don't see many of them these days!
The ole bumpsides are awesome... Thanks for watching and commenting..
"You load 16 ton, what do you get"?A herniated disc and a week in bed...(Now that'll stick in your head for a bit.)Maybe instead of "Old Man",you should call him "Sparky".?It seems like he likes starting every car on fire.
Haha... Love it.. THanks for watching
Great video glad you posted keep them coming thanks
More to come!
Boys I sure wish y’all would put some marvel mystery oil on the tapets and down each pug hole so it’s not cranking dry , as far as we know that distribute is not turning the oil pump
we should have... We figure the oil pump out near the end of the video.. Thanks for watching.
@@RevStoration yes Sir i did watch the rest of the video where you pulled the pan and found the rod not connected to the oil pump , that was not a good thing , but gkad you found it in short order .
The carburetor ain't no good or else you got some plug wires crossed over. Put a new carburetor on it. And check your wiring.
It was sorta both of those issues... bad distributor and blown power valve in the carb because of the backfiring..
@@RevStoration all kinds of problems The way it sounds.
Uncle had one of those back in 66 I think. His was a Manuel probably 3 speed 200 straight six I believe
Wow if this one was a 3 speed... Thanks for watching..
I really like this old truck!! Glad it cranked up!!
Thanks for watching... We are glad it cranked too..
You guys are pretty awesome! I wana come to your church! I knew something.. but you just told me! Nice!
Ivan... you are welcome and the door is open.. Porterdale Baptist in Porterdale, GA
you know Dereck (VGG), he drains the oil, puts in desiel oil with "vitamins" in it to help the old rusty engine run much better
This one didn't even have a working oul pump.. it was also full of water.. the oil we put in the engine is going to be drained... we gotta get the water out before we drop good oil in the engine.. nothing else to do at this time.
Always liked that body style, maybe fix the weight reduction a bit and the brakes. You'll have a nice little beater truck.
We will have more to come... Thanks for watching.
I don't wanna sound like a party pooper but I think you should try to be a little more patient with the ole man. Not like it's a big deal it just seems like you get a little snappy with him sometimes. Or maybe I'm just misinterpreting the situation. Either way great video
I was communicating something behind the camera and he was not understanding.. he was about to pull the hot wire off the coil.. I didn't know if it would crank again.. That was it..
Hey Rev I have birthday coming next month ( May 30th) I will be 52 years old
Happy Early Birthday...
Just like a Chevy. Always pulling broken down Fords down the road. Lol
Amen
Need to go under the shop floor put y'all a steel beam under there at the door bolt a winch on top so y'all can just drag the winch out winch it up in there. Save your backs. Also looks like you clear coated old pudding.
Not a bad idea at all... More to come..
Good Lord you boys are going to burn up your Ford 😆 Great video God Bless Happy Easter He Has Risen hallelujah
We almost burn down a bunch of them... Thanks for watching and Happy Easter..
Ok so at 13.41 in and I'm saying why hasn't the Ol'man installed a winch in the front of that shop with a view😉
Plan in process.
Good Lord Almighty..! My favorite UA-cam Channel. Nice to see y’all as always Rev & Dad. Best wishes to y’all from Jerome & family in Southern California.
Jerome.. You are a blessing.. Thank you!
David y'all doing things the hard way take you a Old Tire and place it between the Ranchero and pudding and ease that thing up that incline🤔✝️
We made due the old fashion way but it was difficult with the gravel. We do alot of things the hard way.
Looks like old man needs to install electric winch i the front of garage next. That pushing thing would get old real quick. But the old man gave u the extra hp to get her done
It is on the list for sure.. Hope all is well.
Happy Resurrection Day. He is alive!
Amen... Up from the grave He arose..
I hope I'm as strong as the Ol' Man when I'm his age. Amazed when he was pushing the car by himself!
He is strong for sure.. put his belly in it.
You guys are something else you make me laugh every time i watch your videos together you guys are something but that's why i watch your videos that car will be a nice car if and when you restore it lol keep on keeping on you need to stop hurting your self safety first remember to be careful rev
Tommy... we have a blast even when we dont... Thanks for watching..
Like the working Deck.. with car port cover. helps when those unexpected rain showers show up, able to get on the floor
It actually has a pit too... It is working out great...
You could have checked by putting finger in #1 until you felt compression
We did... but the bad distributor was confusing us... the fire was hit or miss..
Should rig up a good winch at the back of shop. Certainly save the ol back.
A winch with a good mount is a great idea.
Puddin's heater is cable control needs to be adjusted so heater box doors will open and close and lube the cables. PJ is will be fun to get back on the road.
Agreed... Im going to remove the heater box...replace the core and clean it out for paint.
Sorry late always love your videos my friend this channel is hot red hot love you all God Bless 💟💟💟
Thanks so much for watching... God Bless and Happy Easter..
Hope you had wonderful Easter God Bless you all my friends pray for you and your family everyday 💟💟
Okay, you’ll know if you are cammed after… One, you need to check if there are exhaust leaks on both sides of the motor? Two, does she require exhaust manifold gaskets on this motor? If so, might need new replacements?
Three, check to see if the exhaust manifolds are hand tightened, just in case.
Four, once this has been addressed you may notice and feel if she cammed. You don’t want to drive down the road a blazin’.
Footnote: You will have a first aid kit at all times by your side. You will have an automotive type fire extinguisher and ready at hand (sold at at Walmart if you haven’t already) and a blanket to smother. You will have extra clean fresh non-tap water, to flush-rinse the eyes just in case in the unlikely event of an accident or anyplace else on the body, for that matter. And lastly you said she’s Baby Puddin’…so her new name is “Baby Shit”
or “Baby Dukie” on the nicer side.😜
Exhaust leaks.... yep... Exhaust manifolds are not bolted on... Needs new gaskets too... We have a fire extingisher at ready... BS would be a good name too...
Put a shut off valve on your heater hose so the water dont circulate through the heater. I have a 74 Ranchero that i have to shut it off every spring. LOL
That is the temperature control already but I think it is not working or rusted through.... Hot at the moment..
All you have to do to make a 289 radiator to fit is order a waterpump for a 67 mustang and done.
the pipe extender works but does not look that good.
Happy Blessings for Easter for you and your family ! He has Risen !!!
Happy Easter brother.
You guys could crank the motor out of the titanic if they pull it up great job!! Happy Easter!!
If we could get some diesel to it... It would fire up.. Thanks and Happy Easter.
Is possible you have 302 with 351 firing order
We checked... THe 302 HO has the same firing order... This was not one of them.
Good Seeing You And Your Father Back At It David, Cool Unique Unit Guys, Hope You & Yours Had A Great Easter Be Blessed Guys!!
Thanks 👍 We had a blast..
You guys are persistent at the very least lots of fun watching you thanks!
We are slow to figure stuff out... but when we do... stuff starts to work..
Love the falcons. That’s a falcon missing the back seat. Love it!
Most certainly... He has a 65 Falcon as well..
Great video. Hope you and the family had a wonderful Easter.
Amen brother.. we have had a blessed Easters.. Good day to celebrate!
Love it Rev. Keep the videos coming. If the Ranchero becomes a sell vehicle. Let me know. God bless y'all.
We have a bunch of things that we can get done to this ole rig.... Thanks for watching..
Hey Rev and Ole Man. One thing I just thought of is installing a pulley system. So there would be a pulley at the front of the shop, the another to the right side of the shop. Hook a cable to the front of the car to be running soon, run the cable through the pulleys out to a running vehicle and back it up to ull the almost running vehicle into the shop.
Wow.. Not a bad idea... The cable would help getting cars in and out for sure.
Lots of fun watching your videos. You guys are the best!
Thanks for watching... we are honored that people watch.
i am glad you guys got the car running i like the crazy things you guys do to them car and how funny you guys are when you all work on the cars to
Us too!
I will be nice engine when you get the bugs work out . Pj junior great name for it . 👍👍
The oil was puddened up too... Thanks for watching..
